Hi all, I just received a weird mail this night and I was wondering if the cooker mailing list could have been spammed. It seems that the guy who sent me the mail knew exactly my e-mail (no undisclosed_recipient@... or To : empty shit) and it doesn't look like usual spam I receive everyday. I don't think its a serious mail from a normal person as the mail body looks more like a worm mail body (of course, the return @ is unknown to me). Anyone received the same ? When I say spam, I don't mean UCE, it's just a generic term I use for annoying mail that I don't care about and that pollutes my other mails. At first I thought that maybe a newbie clicked on my @ in the headers of a message of the cooker list, thinking he would thus reach the list, but the body was so unprecise and worm-like, that I wondered if someone hadn't started collecting addresses on this list to start some sort of spamming. Hi all, Following the few problems we had here with the installation of a cooker on a Compaq server, we wondered if the Mandrake team would be interested in having such a server to perform tests. If it is the case, as we are located in Paris, we could give away a Compaq for a few days. Hi all, Just finished trying the RedHat 7.2. Well, believe it or not, absolutly no problem even when booting from the CD (unlike cooker for which we need to boot with the network.img). The disks and mouse get detected without any problem, and the installation seems to want to go on. BTW, once ML 8.1 or cooker is installed on the Compaq, the machine hangs while detecting new hardware. Changing the kudzu safe option to yes in kudzu.conf (so that the serial ports don't get probed) solves it all. If I run kudzu (with the safe option disabled) after the machine has rebooted, there seems to be no problem. Kudzu just runs and stops. a fresh new second stage file, it hanged once more.

[Cooker] No SCSI CD-ROM in kernel-2.4.0-6mdk
Hi, i have a Adaptec 2940UW and connected 2 cdrom's -3 hd's installed cooker with kernel-2.4.0-6mdk and the hd are ok but i can't mount my cdrom. mount /dev/cdom ... mount /dev/sr0 ... mount /dev/scd0 No such device This happens since the first precompiled Mandrake Kernel i used. Yes, after not figuring out how to use my CD in precompiled kernel i compiled the kernel myself, doing so since test10. No problems with that, i've done it this time too, but, i asked the question if other users experienced the same problem, then maybe they forgot to enable SCSI CDROM support at kernel-2.4.0-xxmdk. I never tried 2.4.0-6mdk, but I currently run a 2.4.0 test11 on a half ScSi half IDE box which in the Mboard has an aic-78xxx and have no problems A.Vorano

You'll have to use a new Version. I use VMware-2.0.3-799 and the installation works perfectly however i compiled kernel 2.4 from source and i don't know if it works with the precompiled Mandrake kernel.
