So long, Jrgen ok...thanx for the confirmation. i was starting to feel like an idiot after somebody pointed me to rpm's..no offense...but i did say i tried rebuilt the rpms..etc, we probabely also have different versions of the cooker kernel also Although i have yet to really go thru everything thoroughly, this is unusual bug activity which all points back to the kernel. could be that i downloaded at a bad time. happens sometimes. -- - http://www.alltel.net/~rogerx/ My ICQ UIN# = 21252173 (Reply only in ascii/text format. In no way was I trying to make you feel like an idiot. I just knew that those files worked as I am using them myself on the latest mdk kernel. Sometimes you download a bad src.rpm with dependency problems, so I thought I would at least give you another option.

[Cooker] BUG List on 28 March 2001 Upgrade
HARDWARE: P3 450 Tyan 1832DL Geforce DDR 32mb AGP (Creative's Annihilator Pro) SBlive Value Intel Etherpro 100 NIC 2 WD 27GB/40GB ATA66/100 7200rpm drives Adaptec 152x SCSI (ISA) CDROM 32x (scsi) CD-RW HP7200i (ide) 256MB RAM LS120 (3 1/2 floppy) Brother HL-1240 Printer USB 3 button Logitech Wingman Gaming Mouse (generic) Sony Trinitron Multiscan 420GS 19" Monitor METHOD OF INSTALLATION/UPGRADE = hd.img upgrading over existing cooker upgrade over a fresh install -- 1) POST INSTALL: Asks twice, instead of once, if you have anyothere nic cards after finding an ethpro100. 2) POST INSTALL: Still no ability to make a bootdisk on the ls120 drives (known issue) 3) POST INSTALL: Printer test page on the HL_1240 still prints slightly to the left...but am used to this for the past 6 months...have already tried hacking some stuff. 4) INITIAL BOOT: unresolved symbols in usbmouse.o? to solved, tried to move the stuff around, rebooted several times, killed a chick and voila, it works nowdon't ask me how. One thing i did try to do was mv /lib/modules /lib/modules-old and then in the /usr/src tried make modules but got an error mid way thru (probabely have to re-build the kernel) Also, i'm finding that i must disable kudzu to stop re-detecting the usbmouse device. Once it re-detects it, it actually disables it. can't remember if it unloads the module or edits somethingsorry for the lack of info. 5) INITIAL BOOT: NVidia driver .9-7 fails to build from Source RPMS (rpm -bb --clean NVIDI*spec*)...weird...unressolved symbols when trying to insmod the nvidia.o driver which resulted in me trying to rebuild the source rpms. 6) DESKTOP: Linuxconf Netconf fail to run. something about a wine error? wow! This must've been a bad time to download the cooker! 7) NETWORK: As a result of not having linuxconf/netconf, i cannot configure my ethernet card properly. The only drak tool that would work was the "Network Profile" prghad access to dns and gateway settings etc. No other tools would help besides directly going to edit the config files manually. -- - http://www.alltel.net/~rogerx/ My ICQ UIN# = 21252173 (Reply only in ascii/text format. You can find the NVidia RPMs for 2.4.2-20 at: http://www.crazy-horse.net/cooker along with a working X config file. Don't thank me though, thank Con for getting them to me to put up! =) They work just fine for this kernel and i imagine he'll update them when the next kernel version comes out. -Tim McKenzie [EMAIL PROTECTED] note: if my website acts up it's because I just changed name servers. I mirrored it on the new host already so I think it'll be ok, but you never know
