Re: damn diskdrake/installer LONG ;)
It's hard to tell from your post, but it looks an awful lot like you're equating /boot with bootstrap. There are not the same. I'm not sure why you're having such a unique experience, but normal behavior creates a 1MB bootstrap in the first piece of Apple_Free large enough to accomodate it, before you ever get to diskdrake. The thing to do is leave it alone, don't make it a mount point or format it or anything. All it needs to hold is ofboot.b, yaboot and yaboot.conf. We do not put kernels there, like some distro's do. I believe you also posted that the CD/yaboot will not work on newer machines. I do have a new TiBook on loan right now, and both seem to be working fine to boot both the installer and the installed system. I believe you also posted that the CD/yaboot will not work on newer machines. It may seem a little odd, but it's actually quite nice in that you can use both the trackpad and an external usb mouse at the same time, without changing configs. Check out fbset for adjusting your screen display, or if you come up with better modeline, please pass it on. It's just a bug in the initscripts. You can update to the one here which will fix it: http://ben.reser.org/mandrake/ppc/initscripts-6.40.2-37mdk/initscripts-6.40.2-37mdk.ppc.rpm please excuse my ignorance but how would i get to a prompt so i could open the mouse config file... once i get to a prompt i will be fine. since it's setup to startx automatically i'm not at a prompt. i chouse failsafe as session type and i can't type. my keyboard works in kde but i don't know the shortcut to open console or the taskbar menu At the boot prompt type: linux 3 Where linux is the name of your label for your kernel (by default it's usually linux).
