Re: [css-d] CDATA?

2006-12-22 Thread Brian Gottier
This is very interesting. I installed a Google map into my site last
weekend, and it used CDATA. I wondered what it was for, but didn't
investigate. It also had some proprietary code for microsoft, but I deleted
it and it still seems to work fine. The Google code seems to have validation
errors whenever it sees a closing tag in one of the map's point's text
balloons, but I wasn't going to worry about it.

Merry Christmas,

Hi All, I have a question regarding this bit of syntax I see several
people using:

/*  */

The only time I've used CDATA is creating a DTD. What is it's
usefulness/purpose here?

THanks

[css-d] Site Check Please

2006-04-16 Thread Brian Gottier
I have checked with Firefox WinXP
I have checked with IE6 WinXP
I have checked with Golive's Live Rendering, which is supposed to be Opera
(WinXP)

I'd appreciate a site check with other browser / OS configurations.

Site is http://iamsentme.com

Thank you,

Re: [css-d] IE win unwanted lines

2006-04-14 Thread Brian Gottier
I fixed it. The problem was I had a paragraph that was not contained in a
div. It was somehow tripping IE out, making this line. I made it a div
instead of a paragraph, and then changed it's margin properties to auto,
added a little padding-top, and everything is awesome!

Thanks for looking!

[css-d] IE win unwanted lines

2006-04-13 Thread Brian Gottier
IE is killing me!

I need help with one little problem. There are verticle lines of white
pixels flickering on and off to the right of my .handboxtop div and
.roundbottomb div when adjusting browser width

on page http://www.iamsentme.com/directory.php

I haven't been able to do anything that makes these lines stay gone. I read
something about a 3px bug, but don't understand if this is my problem. Like
I said, nothing I have tried makes these lines stay gone. They flicker on
and off when stretching the browser width.

I've been thinking it has something to do with the divs that make up the
searchbox, because this problem isn't on the other pages of the site,
specifically the /church_search.php or /business_search.php pages that have
the same page layout except for the searchbox.

Am I partially right?
Can you help me?

Thanks,
Brian

Re: [css-d] Box Flicker/Shifting in IE

2006-04-13 Thread Brian Gottier
I ended up fixing it (I think). I checked ie6win, firefox win, and golive's
live rendering, which is supposed to be opera. I just need a site check on
some other OS/browser combos.

What I did was to float right and clear right the .roundb div. I also added
a IE hack ( * html .roundb {margin-bottom:18px} ) to the external style
sheet.

Thanks,
Brian

[css-d] Box Flicker/Shifting in IE

2006-04-13 Thread Brian Gottier
I have been working on a website:
www dot IAMSENTME dot com.

When viewed in IE, if the width of the browser is played around with, the
main body white colored box flicker/shifts to touch the red menu box. (There
is supposed to be a space between them at all times.) It wouldn't really
matter, but sometimes the page will load touching like this, and it doesn't
look as good as it could. In Firefox this isn't a problem. It's not super
critical that this be fixed, as it doesn't break the site, but it just
annoys me. IE annoys me alot! Anybody know why this flicker/shift thing is
happening?

The external style sheet is /iamsentme.css

Thanks for any help in advance,
Brian

[css-d] Expanding height in my page

2006-02-18 Thread Brian Gottier
It's been so long since I worked with CSS. Please Help.

I have built two rounded corner type boxes on this page:
http://www.iamsentme.com

Yes they are rather like tables, but they work except for one thing I'd like
to fix,

I would like to be able to add content, and have BOTH boxes expand in height
equally, the way they are now. I would also like for the viewer to be able
to resize the text in their browser and these boxes expand equally in
height.

I know my height is set up as a fixed pixel value, but adding a % value does
not keep the boxes equal in height.

My style sheet is at http://www.iamsentme.com/iamsentme.css

Thank you for you help,

Peter,
I am trying to come up with a new design for my website, one that uses less
pictures. I actually used Photoshops "Save for Web" to make these pictures
as small as I could. Thanks for checking my site. I'm new to this CSS, and
need all the help i can get.
Thank you,
Brian

Rahul,
I think the white space is coming from the menumachine 1.74 code down at the
bottom of the page, but I will check it out, thank you for looking at the
page. I plan to replace that menu with a MM2 menu soon.

[css-d] Firefox column problem

2005-09-09 Thread Brian Gottier
I am working on a webpage:
http://www.tv-sewingcenter.com/test.htm .

For some reason I can't get one of my columns to sit right of it's left hand
counterpart when viewed in Firefox. The column is inside the div
class="tworighta". What's odd to me is that there is another div located
further down the page with almost identical attributes. If I had hair I'd be
pulling it out. Please help this CSS newbie!

Thanks,
Robert
