### PASTOR CLAIMS BELT RIGHTS. The Massachusetts Supreme Court will decide
whether a minister has the right to spank his son with a leather belt. The
Rev. Donald Cobble Jr. claims the corporal punishment is sanctioned by the
Bible, and the government has no right to interfere by alleging the use of
the belt amounts to child abuse. Cobble was charged with abuse two years ago
after his preteen son, Judah, pleaded with a teacher not to send a note home
to his father because it would result in punishment with a belt. The teacher
instead notified the state Department of Social Services, and an investi-
gating social worker concluded the use of the belt amounted to abuse. ###

: Does your religion prescribe/proscribe physical punishment? Does beating
your kids do any good?

There are 2 issues raised here

1- the question of who decides the morality of society
and the place of the family.

Since the essential part of the conspiracy has been to create hegels divine
state, I wont argue that one further.

The second issue what are the actual empirical answers surrounding spanking
The following is taken mostly from Herrenstein and wilsons ..crime and human
nature.

Essentially there are 2 modes of brining up children.

Warmth and discipline---they are independent and not interelated

Warmth defined as meeting the emotional and physical needs of the child
needs as and when required.

Discipline meeaning consistent rewards and punishments to promote certain
behaviours.
(arbitary beatings are not discipline)

Children brought up with warmth and disciline are well adjsuted good
citizens with a tendency to conformity
with warmth bot no discipline good natured egotists.

with discipline but no love- rebels/ subservient..the
angry young man

without discipline nor warmth- delinquents and
thugs

The degree to which people turn violent in later years is curvilinear(U
shaped) with those with no discipline or with 'extreme' discipline becoming
most violent.

Why if this is the science do most media promoted social scientists advocate
that spanking be
banned..well they are actually socialists and not scientists.

[CTRL] Swiss Ban GM Plants

GENETICALLY MODIFIED PLANTS, PLANTING BANNED - SWITZERLAND
**
A ProMED-mail post
http://www.healthnet.org/programs/promed.html

Date: Fri, 16 Apr 1999 13:38:01 -0400
Source: News media, 16 Apr 1999 (edited)

Switzerland Friday prohibited the release into the environment of
genetically modified maize and potatoes -- the first official ruling on the
controversial issue of planting genetically modified
organisms. The ruling does not affect imports of genetically altered
products for use in food and fodder.

BUWAL, the federal environment office, said it had turned down a request by
Pluess-Staufer AG to test T25 maize as well as a petition by the federal
research institute RAC to test transgenic potatoes. It cited health and
environmental concerns. The decision can be appealed within 30 days.

Hans Hosbach, head of BUWAL's biotechnology and flux of substances section,
said the decision made non-EU Switzerland a unique island within Europe,
where most states including neighboring Germany and Italy permit growing
genetically modified crops.

BUWAL said it turned down the maize request due to concerns over
inadvertent pollination. It rejected the other tests out of concern the
genetically modified potatoes contained genes which could make some
bacteria resistant to certain antibiotics. "We are setting extremely high
standards from the start. The two requests did not meet those standards,"
Hosbach said.

The BUWAL statement said the ruling also sought to protect the image of
Swiss products. "Swiss agriculture lives on our products' reputation for
being pure and close to nature. Such gene technology experiments affect
this image. This can have a far-reaching impact on our agricultural
sector," the statement said.

While the ruling only covers the two specific cases for maize and potatoes,
it does set a certain precedent, BUWAL spokesman Rolf Wespe said. "To some
extent the case sends a signal, but the matter has to be decided on a
case-by-case basis," he said.

T25 is made by a joint venture of Germany's Hoechst AG and Schering.
Officials at the companies were unavailable for comment.

[CTRL] Y2K: Gun Buying Boom

1999-05-03 Thread flw

 -Caveat Lector-

Anti Self Defense zealots face extreme frustration.Schumer, Feinstein and
Brady demand
"3 day waiting period" before the year 2000 calendars can be sold.
flw

The Y2KNEWSWIRE.COM Daily Report

With the Year 2000 rollover barely eight months away, firearm sales are at
record levels. Across the country, dealers and manufacturers all point to a
common reason: Y2K. "We've quadrupled our [civilian] sales compared to last
year," said Tom Spithaler, sales associate at Olympic Arms -- a
manufacturer of both civilian and military firearms.

From Colt to Mossberg, sales are reaching record levels that almost no one
anticipated. Where backlogs didn't exist last year, they're now months
long. Customers are having a difficult time ordering what they want, and
the shortage is also hurting efforts of police departments to buy needed
firearms.

With three groups getting armed this year: law enforcement, civilians and
the military, one question screams out: why?

LAW ENFORCEMENT GETTING ARMED

It's true: police departments around the country are getting armed this
year. While few would directly state this is due to Year 2000 concerns, the
timing is difficult to overlook. After all, Virgin Airways now says they'll
ground their planes on December 31, but it isn't Y2K-related in any way.
Just coincidence, they say. Richard Branson, the chairman of Virgin, tried
to explain it like this: "...both passengers and staff are telling us that
they would like the opportunity to fly to be with friends and family, but
that they want to celebrate the day itself in peace." Huh?

Nevertheless, police departments are getting armed because of Y2K. At least
that's what we're being told by active law enforcement officials who
contacted Y2KNEWSWIRE through the "tips" e-mail address. Here are the
reasons why:

Reason #1: They anticipate disorder.

Law enforcement officials are under-paid and over-worked. They'll also be
stretched thin if things get out of hand during Y2K. Police officers are
telling us they anticipate public parties getting out of hand, requiring
the use of force. But that's not the biggest worry...

Reason #2: The power might go out. Most law enforcement officials probably
agree with

Y2KNEWSWIRE: the whole country won't go black. But power will indeed be
disrupted in some areas. Police officers are concerned about what might
happen if power is lost in a major city where crowds are partying in the
streets. To prevent these situations from getting out of control, they may
have to resort to force.

Reason #3: Opportunism.

Criminals are waiting for the lights to go out during Y2K. Why? If 911
doesn't work and the power is out, Y2K becomes a free-for-all for looters
and thieves. Just look at the events following the Rodney King verdict in
L.A. a few years back. Police officers are extremely concerned that
would-be criminals are just waiting to "test the system" during the Y2K
rollover.

These are the main reasons police departments are getting armed. The money
isn't all being spent on guns, either. Sales of pepper spray are up, too.
Pepper spray is most often used for crowd control, by the way. We'd also
bet that sales of plastic handcuffs are up, although we have no numbers on
this.

MILITARY GETTING ARMED

The military is purchasing record numbers of firearms this year, too. We
attempted to get actual numbers from Colt, the most popular manufacturer of
military rifles in this country, but were unable to receive numbers in time
for this writing. Rumors are circulating that the military has pre-empted
all civilian rifle orders from Colt, but we could not confirm this. In any
case, there is already a backlog on new rifles, civilian or otherwise.

We did, however, confirm an increase in the military's purchase of
urban-assault training rifles from another firearms manufacturer. These
military training rifles are being shipped to Fort Benning, Georgia, where
they are used to help train military special forces such as Delta, Ranger,
SEAL, and other SpecOps forces.

These "urban assault" weapons are configured for building-to-building
fighting: collapsible stocks, fully-automatic fire, smaller calibers (such
as 9mm), and so on. Essentially: SWAT guns. Of course, with the war in
Kosovo going on, the military has a potential justification for an increase
in firearms purchases. But why the increase in urban assault rifles? Are
military leaders planning a ground assault that engages U.S. forces in
block-by-block city warfare? Or is the military simply updating its
armament to more modern configurations?

Many Y2K theorists have supposed that the military is actually gearing up
for action in the United States in some way. We can only see two realistic
possibilities here:

Possibility #1: Military help in breaking up riots.

If law enforcement can't handle outbreaks of violence (see above), the
military may be called in to help. Since you only have riots in cities, the
urban firearms makes sense here. After all, you can't

THE White Wolves are the far-Right splinter group claiming to be behind the
Soho bomb, they have spent the past four years laying the ground work for a
bombing campaign against racial minorities and gays

It's language is chilling, its message calculated to incite, its tone
terrifyingly controlled: "Many immigrants are innocent of any recognised
crime individually, but collectively they make up an invading army which
threatens the birthright of children and the unborn generations of our folk.
Their presence spells the death of our people, so if they must be forced out
with extreme violence, then so be it.

"The desired effect can be had by stabbing a solitary Pakistani picked
randomly (the more randomly the better) in an Asian area. The chances of
being caught are remote, as it is a motiveless attack with no connection
between the attacker and the victim. But the repercussions would be great
once the White Wolves claim responsibility."

So begins the 15-page manifesto of the neo-Nazi White Wolves, the Combat 18
splinter group that on Friday night exploded its third bomb in as many weeks
in the capital. This time it targeted the gay community, which it describes
as "part of a culture we wish to destroy".

Yesterday, as the grim final toll of the explosion at the Admiral Duncan in
Soho, central London, stood at three dead and 64 injured, a Telegraph
investigation into the mindset of this small but tightly-knit band has
revealed a highly dangerous, highly motivated Right-wing organisation that
has spent the years since its inception in 1995 laying the ground work for a
sustained bombing campaign against minorities.

Its manifesto, uncovered by an infiltrator of the group who handed it to
anti-race activist, explains in chilling clarity how to fund attacks, avoid
detection, destroy forensics and select targets. It urges its followers to
gain military training through the Territorial Army or other volunteer army
units, and culls interrogation advice from Irish paramilitary groups such as
the IRA and UDA.

Its weaponry may, at present, be crude and unsophisticated - though
devastatingly effective - but its hate-filled manifesto warns that as its
commandos become more "experienced" so, too, will its arsenal increase.

Prospective members are told to arm themselves with bombs and bullets and
told: "A suitcase bomb at the Notting Hill Carnival would certainly upset
the blacks - of course, as White Wolf cells become more experienced, some
will develop more advanced capabilities and get heavier weaponry." The rules
for use will remain the same: "Anything which stirs the racial pot is
justified."

Acutely aware of the IRA's success in the use of a small cell structure,
which is difficult to infiltrate and nigh on impossible to detect, it
advises members to adopt the same strategy. "If you are a member of an
established nationalist party, stay with it," it advises. "A sudden exodus
of a group of keen members prior to WW activities will be a dead giveaway.
If your cell operates properly and uses its head, it will do immense damage
and function for a long time.

"Keep the cell small. Five is maximum: two to watch, two to carry out the
action, one to stay with the car if you use one." Every detail has been
thought of. If you use a car, it warns its members, pay cash for petrol,
because credit card receipts can be used to trace your movements.

No opportunity must be missed, it stresses, to gain new weapons skills.
"Every cell leader should be on the lookout for chances to learn new skills
which would help with the struggle. The Territorial Army is an obvious one
but look for others," it urges.

A month ago The Telegraph exclusively revealed how a year-long inquiry into
neo-Nazi infiltration of the Army had resulted in several arrests. Two
serving soldiers and one ex-soldier were arrested on suspicion of using
their military expertise to offer weapons training to neo-fascist
organisations, including Combat 18. During the inquiry, carried out by MI5,
Special Branch and military police, racist literature, computer disks,
knives and ammunition were seized.

[CTRL] WTO stalled on picking new leader

1999-05-03 Thread Carl Amedio

 -Caveat Lector-

By CLARE NULLIS

GENEVA (May 2, 1999 3:15 p.m. EDT http://www.nandotimes.com) - The World
Trade Organization faced Sunday the prospect of a damaging leadership vacuum
that could undermine its authority in global trade disputes.

Efforts to appoint a new director-general ended in total deadlock after more
than 12 hours of weekend meetings that degenerated into bad-tempered clashes
between supporters of former New Zealand Premier Mike Moore and Thai Deputy
Prime Minister Supachai Panitchpakdi.

Ali Mchumo, chairman of the 134-nation WTO council, reconvened a meeting of
the decision-making body for Monday in hopes of finding a solution.

But prospects looked grim, with Asian and some African nations standing firm
behind Supachai - seen as the candidate of the developing world - and the
United States insisting on Moore.

WTO spokesman Keith Rockwell described the atmosphere at Saturday's session
as "testy, tense and not terribly pleasant."

The impasse and growing North-South split led to fears that a time-consuming
hunt for a new leader might have to begin again from scratch despite the
impressive track record of both current candidates.

Italy's Renato Ruggiero stepped down as scheduled on Friday after a four-year
term in office, taking the WTO's deputy directors with him.

Rockwell said the WTO could continue to function without a leader, although
it might pose some problems for the work of panels set up to adjudicate trade
disputes. If parties involved in the trade rows can't agree on the
composition of the three-member panels, the rules say that the
director-general must name the members.

The Geneva-based body faces an upsurge in disputes following the U.S.
announcement Friday that it will file complaints to the WTO against Europe,
India, South Korea, Canada and Argentina for a variety of alleged unfair
trade practices.

Moreover, the WTO needs a leader with global clout as it prepares for a
November ministerial conference in Seattle, meant to set the trade agenda for
the 21st century and usher in new agreements to liberalize global commerce.

Even if there is agreement Monday on either Moore or Supachai, the successful
candidate would face an uphill struggle in winning over all WTO members given
the depth of bitterness.

WTO council chairman Mchumo, a Tanzanian diplomat, proposed on Friday that
Moore be approved by consensus since he had the support of 62 nations, three
more than Supachai.

However, Japan, Malaysia, India and other Asian nations demanded a vote. That
ran counter to the WTO's time-honored rule that all decisions be reached by
consensus.

Asian countries and their allies are particularly angry that the Thai
candidate held a clear lead for months while the United States and Europe sat
on the fence. Only when Washington opted in favor of Moore did the New
Zealander begin to gain ground.

[CTRL] Western Christian group apologizes for Crusades

1999-05-03 Thread Carl Amedio

 -Caveat Lector-

By DINA KRAFT

JERUSALEM (May 2, 1999 12:08 p.m. EDT http://www.nandotimes.com) - Nine
centuries after Christian Europe sought to redeem the Holy Land, a group of
Western Christians is asking forgiveness for the slaughter and destruction
left in the Crusaders' wake.

Bearing printed apologies in Arabic, Hebrew and English, participants in the
"Reconciliation March" said Sunday they planned to hand the neatly bound
plastic folders to Jews, Muslims, and Eastern Christians whose forefathers
were killed during the invasion.

About 50 members of the interdenominational project from the United States,
Europe, Australia, and New Zealand are meeting Israelis and Palestinians in
cities throughout the region.

"Exactly 900 years ago, Christians visited this land with a sword and a
spirit of vengeance in a manner contrary to teachings and character of
Jesus," said Mike Niebur, the group's Israel coordinator.

Group members, who pay their own expenses, have visited Jewish communities
along the Rhine Valley and towns in Lebanon and Turkey in their search for
forgiveness.

Crusaders marching through the Rhine Valley slaughtered Jews who refused to
convert to Christianity and left a similar wake of destruction in Eastern
Orthodox and Muslim centers along the way.

The Crusaders were urged forward by Roman Catholic leaders longing for the
jewel of Jerusalem - and seeking to consolidate recent political gains in
Europe.

Organizers at the press conference displayed T-shirts depicting the march of
the original crusaders as a jagged red line cutting through the heart of
Europe and the Middle East.

The group's trip will culminate on July 15 when up to 1,500 participants
travel by foot from a Crusader fortress in northern Israel to Jerusalem to
apologize to religious leaders on the 900th anniversary of the fall of the
city to the Crusaders.

Niebur said that the imprint of distrust and violence perpetuated by the
memory of the Crusades can be traced through the Spanish Inquisition and even
the Holocaust.

"We hope we will start to end that legacy and start on a new track," said
Niebur, a native of San Francisco.

Members of the group said they see a direct link between the Crusades and the
relationship between the East and West today.

Niebur cited apocalyptic Christian groups who have unsettled Jews and Arabs
in the region, and said such apocalyptic outlooks mirror those of the
Crusaders.

"We have a similar situation developing today with the turn of the
millennium," he said. "We want to say that that was not really what Jesus'
message was about."

In January, Israel expelled a group of U.S. millennialists authorities
believed were planning violent acts in Jerusalem to hasten the Second Coming.

Niebur said the reception has been positive. He recalled a phone call to a
Jewish community in the Rhine Valley. An organizer told the community leaders
that the marchers were running a little late.

"The Jewish community responded, 'We've waited 900 years, we can wait one
more hour,'" he said.

[CTRL] New Ebola epidemic

New Ebola epidemic

New Ebola epidemic
A new epidemic of the deadly Ebola virus has appeared in the Democratic
Republic of Congo, and is threatening to enter Sudan.
World Health Organisation figures say 50 people have died in the latest
outbreak of the disease, which is fatal in up to 90% of cases.

Congolese Health Minister Mashako Mamba announced on Friday that the DRC was
confronted by an epidemic.

There are reports that the virus is spreading towards Sudan, after beginning
in the rebel-held north-east of the DR Congo.

Sudan threat

A spokesman for a South African-based medical information service said the
disease had been reported within 50km of the Sudanese border.

"In this situation, that is very little. There is a very real danger of it
spreading to Sudan," he said.

The Ebola virus is named after a river in north-western Congo, where the
disease was first identified in 1976.

A second epidemic in 1995 caused 245 deaths.

Highly infectious

No vaccine has been developed for the virus, and researchers have not
pinpointed its origins.

The highly infectious virus kills between 50% and 90% of people who become
infected, according to the WHO.

The disease is characterised by internal and external bleeding, and kidney
and liver failure.

[CTRL] Electric/Electromagnetic

1999-05-03 Thread Colleen Jones

 -Caveat Lector-

Watching NATO bombings and their attack on electric system

I need an answer again from an expert; something happened that really
has me wondering in my daughter's home.

They have a satellite system - just the small diskand Prime Star.
On this huge entertainment center they have the box, and an inside
antenna to pick up local stations. Also, is a modern halogen lite =
the little minatures that look like lites used in or on a desk - long
stem, etc.

If you touch this antenna to th stem of the hallogen lite - the lite
lights up.and there is an erie charge of lite about where the lamp
and antenna touches.

Now supposedly, it won't hurt anything I was toldhowever, the charge
I was told wasn't big enough.

What is causing this..also ARCO that set up the weather modification
program stuffthe reason the War Deprtment tried to stop the patent
being published as to what Eastland was doing, was because it tied into
our RADAR systems.

NOw I am not sure what I am saying here myself, but someone that knows
about this stuff will understandthe little TV attentennaif it
can make a halogen lite light up, and then turn it off by breaking the
connection (just touching the antenna to the rod of the lamp)..is
this some kind of a system hooked up to satellites which Prime Star is -
is this some kind of a system that will be able to turn on electrical
systems and turn them off at will.remember the power outages
many years ago - and the big New York blackout, etc., and also all these
other things..somehow, this antenna hooked up to prime star, (and I
have not touched it yet, and want them to get rid of it)well, as
they say "What the hell is goiing on here"

Colleen

Now please make it simple in simple talk - as I am stille reading
Einstein Theory on Relativity Made Simple for dum folks, and I bought
that 25 page story 15 years ago.

1. NATO Missile Hits a Bus, Dozens of Civilians Die

BELGRADE, May 1 - A NATO missile struck a civilian bus on Saturday (May 1)
on a bridge 12 miles north of Kosovo's capital, Pristina, killing several
dozen people, including many children. A rescue worker on the scene, who
refused to give his name, claimed he had counted 39 bodies, the Associated
Press reported. TiM's other sources in Serbia said the bus had over 60
passengers on board when it was bombed.

"I was in my garden working when I heard the sound of a plane flying,"
Rajko Maksic, a Serb farmer, told the Associated Press. "I turned towards
the sound. I saw a bus on the road and suddenly it exploded. I heard
screams and I came to look."

The attack occurred in the village of Luzane at about 1 p.m. local time,
cutting the vehicle in two and sending part of it plunging off the bridge,
which was damaged but not destroyed. About an hour later, the bridge came
under attack again. An emergency services doctor was injured, the Tanjug
news wire said.

Independent journalists on the scene saw about 15 bodies trapped in the
charred remnants of the part of the bus which fell off the bridge. Most
have been burned beyond recognition and were horribly mangled from the
blast. The portion of the bus that remained on the bridge was still burning
more than an hour after the attack.
---
TiM Ed.: Another mass murder of civilians; another charge for the NATO war
crimes file. In this case, add PREMEDITATED to the mass murder count,
considering NATO's second bombing, an hour later, while the bus was still
burning on the bridge.
-

2. Washington Discounts Belgrade's Goodwill Gesture, Vows to Intensify
Bombing Despite Release of Three POWs

RAMSTEIN, May 2 - Brushing aside the pleas from Jesse Jackson, and some
Republican leaders for a pause in the bombing of Serbia, in the wake of
Belgrade's goodwill gesture - the release of the three American POWs - the
U.S. Secretary of Defense vowed that, "we are not only not going to stop
bombing - we're going to intensify the bombing." Cohen made this remark on
NBC's "Meet the Press" program.
---
TiM Ed.: Anyone still unconvinced that we're dealing with certifiable
lunatics here?
---

Meanwhile, Jackson, who accompanied the three U.S. soldiers on their flight
to the U.S. air base at Ramstein, Germany, urged a pause in air strikes in
favor of further diplomacy. "That would be a courteous response to freeing
the prisoners of war," Jackson said, according to a May 2 Bloomberg news
wire report.

U.S. Senate Majority Leader, Trent Lott, echoed Jackson's sentiments. Lott
said that NATO "should seize the moment."
---
TiM Ed.: It should, of course. As it should have long ago, if the NATO
leaders had an iota of compassion or common sense. With this kind of a
response to Belgrade's goodwill gesture, Bill Clinton and all other NATO
leaders have just proven to the world that they are only after blood and
power. Until the last surviving Serb is in a prone position, bowing to the
Evil Empire's New World Order. Which will never happen.

So a reasonable response by intelligent Americans ought be to find out
where the nearest nuclear shelter is.

As for the Serbs, both Washington and Brussels have now made it abundantly
clear that this WAR IS ABOUT EXTERMINATION OF SERBIAN ORTHODOX CIVILIANS.
Period. So the Serb leaders had better take that into account before
making any more "goodwill gestures" to the bloodthirsty mass murderers.

And the Serbs should adopt the same attitude with regard to Victor
Chernomyrdin. He is a Boris Yeltsin NWO retread who gave up Chechnya to
the Muslim rebels, and whom the Russian president has now thrown into the
Yugoslav cauldron to see if he could pull the wool over the Serb eyes, too.

The Serbs only need to ask themselves the following question, before
sending Chernomyrdin packing all the way back to his NWO quisling boss in
Moscow: "Can any friend of Al Gore's be a friend of Serbia?"

WORLD WAR III

and the witch hunt on alternative medicine

(Updated May 2 1999)

In the mid 1970's President James E. Carter signed a Rockefeller
document called the "Global 2000 Report". The basic intent of this
report is to reduce the American population to 10% current level and the
CFR's [Council on Foreign Relations] insider newsletter has expressed
it's intents to help that process along in the USA to about 45% current
population levels. The agenda is very much on its way through
immune-whacking vaccines they injected in us when we were children.

The media feed us constantly with threats of a World War III, but they
don't tell us that WW III has already started. People in general are
waiting for the big war - meaning the Big Bang, but that's not the way
it is happening for the moment. The Third World War is foremost a quiet
war with no classic weapons, but nevertheless it is not less
devastating.

This is a war of silent mind control and the implanting of viruses and
other lethal diseases upon the population, mostly with the help from
vaccines, which are not containing what they should contain. This is the
way AIDS was implanted upon us, as an example. AIDS was spread upon the
blacks and homosexuals (useless eaters, as they call them), through the
hepatitis B vaccines laced with live AIDS virus. It was implanted by the
UN's World Health Organization, and this is where the AIDS disease
exploded from.

Horrible enough, the power elite defense establishment has initiated the
genocide of millions of Americans with the contamination of polio
vaccines that has seeded the entire baby boom generation with cancer
viruses. As age takes its toll and our immune systems can no longer keep
there laboratory-created viruses in check, these "biological time bombs"
are now activating with one out of three "boomers" getting cancer.

Indeed, one of the first things President Clinton did after the election
was to follow the direct orders from David Rockefeller, to take over
(socialize) 1/5 of the economy - the health care system - that the
Rockefeller's oligarchy monopolizes. Deep studies show that 97,5% of
what we call "health care" is in fact disease care, as we shall see.

From the cradle to the grave, population control is waged on the
American public through mass media mind control; food and drug adds
chemical-laced so called food, which will make you become seriously ill
much faster.

So let's take a deeper look into all this by tracing history. Early this
Century, Rockefeller and Carnegie created a medical monopoly by
financing 1640 medical schools with pharmacology, leading to the
"ethical" drug pushing that has been in practice ever since because
these families owned or indirectly controlled most of the drug
companies. John D. Rockefeller also financed legislation that vitally
destroyed the dominance of natural cure modalities such as naturopathy
(herbs) and homeopathy. Later he merged his cartel of monopolies in
numerous fields (oil, chemicals, drugs, banking and communications) with
the IG Farben cartel of monopolies in Europe that brought Hitler to
power. IG Farben, by the way, split up in three cover organizations here
in the west after the war, namely Bayer, Hoechst and BASF. But it was
still IG Farben working undercover. Recently it became known that IG
Farben actually had continued its existence AFTER WW II in East Germany
UNDER THE SAME NAME. Now, after the fall of the Iron Curtain, Helmut
Kohl and other members of the Elite want to re-introduce IG Farben in
Germany once again and forbid Alternative Medicine and vitamins.

In the dark ages we had the witches (mostly females), who were burnt at
the stake for practicing alternative treatment in form of herbs and old
wisdom. Today the "witches" still exist, but now they call themselves
homeopaths, naturopaths and practitioners of alternative medicine. Yet
they are still as hunted as they were in the Dark Ages. Why?

Because in these areas the real cures can be found. If you think like
Rockefeller you realize that these "witches" are some of his worst
enemies, because they halt the genocide of the world population. By
giving us poisoned vaccines and vaccines that will decrease our immune
system, people get sick and die before their time. And when people get
sick, they go to the doctor, who gives them chemical drugs from the
Rockefeller-owned drug companies, which will eventually hammer the last
nail into the coffin. With this in mind, one can clearly understand why
alternative and natural medicine is ridiculed, legislated against and
haunted wherever it shows up.

A "funny" thing though is, that while old John D. Rockefeller was
actively destroying nature-based medicine in America and setting up
Hitler to enforce his IG Farben cartel agreements throughout Europe, he
himself had a naturopathic and homeopathic doctor

Jacobite Freemasonry

"The esoteric element was more prominent in the 'Red' Masonry than in
the 'Blue'. But Red or Scottish Masonry can also be seen as a return to
more traditional ideas of hierarchy and social orderBut the Scottish
higher degrees meant the implied rejection of at least a part of the
ideal of egalitarianism. The higher grades involved the subordination of
the lower, and also the ignorance on the part of the lower grades of the
wisdom enjoyed by the higher."
- Peter Partner, The Murdered Magicians
"To affect their pro-Stuart political aims, the Scottish lodges changed
the Biblical symbolism of the third Blue Degree into political symbolism
to represent the House of Stuart. Ramsey's 'higher' degrees contained
additional symbolism 'revealing' why Freemasons had a duty to help the
Stuarts against the throne of England. Because of this, many people
viewed Scottish Freemasonry as a clever attempt to lure freemasons away
from the Mother Grand Lodge system which supported the Hanoverian
monarchy and turn the new converts into pro-Stuart Masons.
"The Stuarts themselves joined Ramsey's organization. James III adopted
the Templar title 'Chevalier St. George'. His son, Charles Edward, was
initiated into the Order of Knights Templar on Setember 24, 1745, the

pedigree of the 'craft'."
"...It did not, like many rites of Freemasonry, consist primarily of
free-thinkers and atheists. On the contrary, it seems to have been
deeply religious and magically oriented - emphasizing a sacred social
and political hierarchy, a divine order, an underlying cosmic plan. And
the upper grades or degrees of this Freemasonry, according to M.
Chaumeil [Le Tresor du triangle d'or] were the lower grades or degrees
of the Prieure de Sion."
- Baigent, Leigh Lincoln, The Holy Blood and the Holy Grail
"In the aftermath of the 1745 rebellion, Jacobite Freemasonry as such,
with its specific political orientation and allegiance to the Stuart
bloodline, effectively died out. Variations of it, however, purged of
political content and tempered by the moderation of the Grand Lodge of
England, survived. They survived in part through the so-called 'higher'
degrees' offered by such institutions as Irish Grand Lodge. Most
important, however, they survived within the Strict Observance
promulgated by Hund - of which the highest degree was that of 'Knight
Templar'. The Strict Observance was to spread throughout Europe."

[CTRL] Fwd: The Kennedy Illuminati Family

CONTINUATION IN THE SERIES OF ARTICLES ON THE TOP 13 ILLUMINATI FAMILIES --
THE KENNEDY FAMILY
(This article is only the first part on the Kennedys)

To be a researcher and to be informed that the Kennedy family is a top 13
llluminati family is akin to being told a needle is in a haystack. Someone
has estimated that there are 200,000 Kennedys in the United States.1 And on
a list of the most populous surnames of Ireland in 1890 Kennedy ranked
17th.2 And a recent book listed it as 16th most common today. Fortunately,
there is information that allows me to identify as least part of the Satanic
Kennedies from all the rest of the Kennedys. You will learn some of this
later in the article.

KENNEDY TIES TO OTHER ELITE FAMILIES
Again the ties between various Illuminati families is very involved, and a
long unraveling process, similar to untieing a set of bad knots confronts
the researcher. The Kennedy family abounds with marriages to names such as
Anketells, Baileys, Booths, Buckleys, Collins, Hatfields, Humphreys,
Freemans, James, Phelps, Reagans, Russells, and Smiths.3 The Kennedys that
we will look closest at are related to the Fitzpatricks, a powerful Irish
family whose coat of arms has 3 fleur-de-lis with a dragon and a lion. (The
Fitzpatricks may tie back to France, and they may possibly part of the Sang
Royal (Sangraal--Sang Raal is the term used in the older manuscripts which
can mean both Royal bloodline or Holy Grail.) Jackie Bouvier Kennedy Onassis
who married John F. Kennedy was tied to the Auchinclosses via her sister’s
marriage into the Auchincloss family. The Auchinclosses are Scottish
bloodline of the [Iluminati. “One can fairly hear the woof and tweet of
history whistle through the names of the ramified Auchincloss tribe: Bunt,
Grosvenor, Rockefeller, Saltonstall, Tiffany, Vanderbilt and Winthrop among
others.”5 For instance, Hugh D. Auchincloss, Sr. married Emma Brewster
Jennings, daughter of Oliver B. Jennings, who co-founded Standard Oil with
John D. Rockefeller. As for the numerous Kennedy intermarriages with notable
names, for instance, Bernet Shafer Kennedy (1798-1878) married Phebe Freeman
in 1820.6 But then the question arises--were either of these people secretly
part of the occult? Andrew Kennedy married Margaret (Penny) Hatfield
(1824-1989). The Andrew Kennedy family is allied with the Hatfield, Bailey,
Collins, and Mullins families.8 Again a person is confronted with a great
deal of clues, but precious little time and resources to try following up
the numerous leads.

ORIGINS OF THE FAMILY THE RELATIONSHIP OF THE KENNEDY’S 9 (See footnote 9
for the reference to consult concerning this entire section.)
There are several versions of how the Kennedys got started, but when one
goes in and examines things, what turns out is that the origins of the
Kennedys is Ireland are very clear. They are descendants of Brian Born (also
known as Brian Caeneddi) and his nephew who spelled it Cinneide. The name
thereafter was O’Kennedy. They originally were a Dalcassion sept, and were
in the area near Killahoe, and Killokennedy parish is a reminder of that
ancient fact. The O’Briens and MacNamaras forced them into new territories
where they became the Lords of Ormond--what is now north Tipperary. Most
Kennedys in Ireland today are still found in that area. The Kennedys
remained powerful into the 16th century.

The Kennedy family divided up into 3 branches:
1. Don (brown)
2. Fionn (fair)
3. Rua (red)

THE SCOTTISH KENNEDYS
Around 1600 a Scottish branch of the Kennedys appeared. There are several
stories as to how they got their name Kennedy, and it is possible that they
were not from Ireland. However, interestingly, genealogists have ascertained
that whether the various branches of the aristocratic Kennedys in Scotland
and Ireland may have different origins (because the origins of the Scottish
branch is unclear)--it can be shown that they all subsequently intermarried
and became related if they were not related to begin with. Gayle Marie
Kennedy points this out on page 3 of her book My Kennedy Ancestors..., ‘It
is believed that all the foregoing Kennedy families are related either by
virtue of being descendants of common ancestors, or by intermarriage.” I
looked up in Burke’s General Armory to get a listing of the aristocratic
Kennedys and here is what I got:
Kennedys of Ardmillan, County Ayr, Scotland
Kennedys of Auchtyfardell, County Lanark, 1752
Kennedys of Blairquhan, County Ayr, Scotland
Kennedys of Clowburn. County Ayr, Scotland
Kennedys of Cultura, County Down, Northern Ireland
Kennedys of Dublin Fun Ent, 1595, Ulster, Ireland
Kennedys of Girvanmains, County Ayr, Scotland
Kennedys of Hill Foot, Ire land
Kennedys of Kirkmiehael, County Ayr, Scotland

Der Fuhrer Invades Yugoslavia

NATO: "We Don't Care About the Soldiers--More Bombs Now!"

Next time, Milosevic, keep 'em

ZAGREB, Croatia - Three U.S. soldiers released by Yugoslav authorities
walked joyously across the border to freedom Sunday, two of them holding
hands with the Reverend Jesse Jackson and chanting: ''Free at last! Free
at last, thank God Almighty, free at last!''
Hours later, after a bus ride to the Croatian capital, Zagreb, they flew
on to Germany for medical examination at a U.S. military base.

''We express our deepest gratitude to the people who negotiated our
release,'' Sergeant Christopher Stone said. ''We owe them our freedom.''

The sergeant was referring to Mr. Jackson and others in a group of
American clergymen who achieved their release in talks with President
Slobodan Milosevic of Yugoslavia.

Mr. Jackson, who flew with the soldiers to Germany, urged President Bill
Clinton to accept Mr. Milosevic's proposal for a face-to-face meeting,
calling the offer ''indeed a diplomatic initiative.''

At the Zagreb airport, Mr. Jackson repeated a plea for a reciprocal
goodwill gesture by the NATO allies, which have been bombing Yugoslavia
since March 24 trying to break the Kosovo deadlock.

Separately, Russia said Sunday that Viktor Chernomyrdin, the Kremlin's
special envoy for Kosovo, would meet with President Bill Clinton in
Washington on Monday.

Arriving at Zagreb with the freed soldiers, Mr. Jackson said he hoped
the U.S. administration would ''take some risk for peace and
reconciliation and we can avoid the bloody, expensive, long, disastrous
war.''

In Washington, Mr. Clinton expressed his gratitude to Mr. Jackson and
said he was pleased by the soldiers' release. ''All of America is
anticipating their safe return,'' he said.

But the president stressed to Mr. Jackson by telephone that the NATO air
campaign against Yugoslavia would continue despite the release, a White
House spokesman said.

Defense Secretary William Cohen said it was ''highly unlikely'' that Mr.
Clinton would agree to meet with Mr. Milosevic and he warned that NATO
planned to increase, not curtail, its air campaign.

''We are not only not going to stop the bombing, we are going to
intensify the bombing,'' Mr. Cohen said.

Belgrade was plunged into darkness shortly before 10 P.M. as electricity
was cut off after air-raid sirens warned of approaching NATO planes,
witnesses said Sunday.

Residents said there were heavy streams of anti-aircraft fire lighting
up the sky over in the southeastern part of the city. There was no
immediate explanation for the power failure.

Jamie Shea, the NATO civilian spokesman, said in Brussels that the
alliance would halt or suspend the air campaign only if Mr. Milosevic
accepted NATO-dictated peace conditions, including the deployment of an
international force of armed troops in Kosovo.

Yugoslavia challenged the West to come up with a reciprocal gesture
following Belgrade's release of the three U.S. soldiers.

The Foreign Ministry spokesman, Nebojsa Vujovic, also reiterated at a
news conference that Belgrade would not allow any foreign troops on its
soil to police a peace agreement for the province of Kosovo.

''The release of the American prisoners represents a goodwill gesture
and demonstrates our firm commitment to reach long-lasting political
solutions between the state and representatives of all ethnic groups in
Kosovo,'' he said.

''We played our part in goodwill, as a goodwill gesture, and it's up to
those who enjoyed the benefits of this gesture to decide what is the
next step they are supposed to take.''

Mr. Jackson, on a satellite hookup with Fox-TV interviewers in
Washington, said that in so intractable a standoff, only diplomacy at
the highest levels could bring a solution.

''I am convinced that if the leaders are bold and seize this moment,
something great could happen,'' he said.

Mr. Clinton and Mr. Milosevic ''would understand each other and could
hammer out an agreement in a way that has not happened,'' Mr. Jackson
added.

But he said later on NBC that Mr. Milosevic had appeared ''very
confident,'' citing Yugoslavia's ability through history to resist
pressure, including years of hostility from the Soviet Union during the
Stalin-Tito feud that erupted in 1948.

His sense, he said, was that Mr. Milosevic would ''absolutely not'' give
in to pressure.

Mr. Jackson, a civil rights leader who recently announced he would not
run for the U.S. presidency next year, made the trip to Belgrade as head
of a delegation of religious leader, including Serbian-American
ministers, Muslim clerics and Jewish religious figures.

Even before he left for Belgrade, Mr. Jackson revealed plans for the
mission in an interview with International Herald Tribune Television
that was broadcast last week on the RAI News 24 satellite channel in
Italy.

Colorado Massacre No Surprise
by Susan Jankowski, M.Ed.

The Colorado high school massacre was bound to be a reactionary media
feeding frenzy and, as usual, big business did not disappoint. That very
day, even Bill Mahr (Politically Incorrect-ABC), was screaming for gun
control, proclaiming this tragedy "a message from God" and calling the
event "ironic" in view of an upcoming NRA meeting in Denver. (Were these
boys card-carrying NRA members?)

Once again, the media's discourse is soo predictable: ban guns,
drugs, violent movies (except news footage), internet access, black
clothing and "goth" records. (I wonder, during a search, can dogs
distinguish between Marilyn Manson and Mozart?)

I've yet to hear or see one reporter asking the most important question
of all: "Prior to the massacre, what measures had been taken to help the
children who committed the murders...what drove these kids to so
violently 'snap'? How did things go so far?"

I am not saying the boys themselves are not accountable. Only one finger
pulls the trigger on a gun. But there are numerous reports that the boys
were repeatedly victimized by peers--perhaps provoking them to, in their
distorted minds, turn the dynamic around. Since these kids reportedly
made no waves, school staff apparently never asked them about their
penchant for death and why they continuously drew swastikas on
themselves. (Is there enough staff at this school to take time out to
ask? Probably not.) And what of the parents? Did they ever have a
heart-to-heart about their boys'obsession with Hitler, bombs and death?
Where and when did the boys make the bombs and store their arsenals? Did
school personnel and parents ever talk to each other about the impact of
the ongoing ridicule and other concerns? Did these boys have anyone else
to talk to, except for themselves?

One of the teachers interviewed by a TV reporter was incredulous that
such violence could occur at her school. "I always thought this sort of
thing happened somewhere else," she said. Now, no one in America can
ignore this wake-up call.

But sadly, signs of reactionary, short-term solutions abound: Line these
kids up and search every last one. Collect their urine, blood, hair,
fingerprints; track their Net searches, record their telephone
conversations; lock them up. As a former public school teacher, I can
tell you, there are a lot of similarities between schools and prisons.
And prisoners often rebel.

By all appearances, Littleton, Colorado is a white picket fence- sort of
town. And after the last news van hits the road, life there, and
elsewhere in America, will go on. Children will continue to be ignored
and discredited by the adults in their lives, who will choose to turn a
blind eye to all that is unpleasant--such as problems at school--unless
it involves dollar amounts. Victimizing people will still be accepted as
normal, and for the winners in our society, a sort of birthright.
Anything, or anybody, viewed as "different" will be ostracized. We will
continue to feed on a steady diet of violence and glorify war. And
troubled kids will continue to suffer in silence, products of a culture
that does not value the feelings and perceptions of its children and
chooses to ignore the realities of today's playground.

It's been said that schools are microcosms of society and they are.
From what I've experienced during my seven years in public schools,
this sort of thing is, unfortunately, bound to happen again -- just not
in your home town.

1. Kosovo Rebels and Their New Friend

BYLINE: By CHRIS HEDGES

DATELINE: VICIDIOL, Albania, June 9 1998

The family farm of the former Albanian President, Sali Berisha, who was
driven from power last year, has become a base for the Kosovo Liberation
Army, an ethnic Albanian group fighting for independence for their
province from Serbia.

Mr. Berisha's decision to turn over his birthplace to the rebels is part
of his skillful manipulation of the crisis in Kosovo to mount a
political comeback, Western diplomats say.

His return to power would not be welcomed by Washington, which blames
his administration for Albania's economic melt-down and descent into
lawlessness. The unrest began with the collapse of pyramid schemes, many
of them encouraged by the Government, that cost thousands of Albanians
their savings.

The decision to back the armed movement in Kosovo could also push
Albania toward open conflict with Belgrade and spread the fighting
beyond Serbia's borders.

"The increased violence in the border region is counterproductive," said
Daan W. Everts, the representative in Albania for the Organization for
Security and Cooperation in Europe. "Instead of reducing militancy, it
has increased it inside Kosovo and Albania. The more violence, the more
militancy."

The stone farmhouse here, two miles south of Tropoje, with a red tile
roof and small, narrow windows, was surrounded this morning with dozens
of pack horses and 30 young men who were being issued AK-47 assault
rifles from an underground bunker in a field. Those interviewed said
they were preparing to cross the rugged border to join the rebels and
fight Serbian troops.

Mr. Berisha's elderly cousin, Besnik Berisha, who had lived with his
wife and family in the house for several years, moved out a few days
ago, the men said. A newly built wooden fence around the compound and
piles of assault rifles and ammunition boxes gave the place the feel of
a fortress.

The rebels, who move in darkness across the border into Kosovo, spoke
bitterly of the request by the Prime Minister, Fatos Nano, Mr. Berisha's
political rival, that NATO troops be stationed along the border on the
Albanian side.

"We don't want NATO troops here," said a young, bearded leader who would

The Electromagnetic Bomb - a Weapon of Electrical Mass Destruction

Carlo Kopp Defence AnalystMelbourne, [EMAIL PROTECTED]
http://www.cs.monash.edu.au/~carlo/
ABSTRACT
High Power Electromagnetic Pulse generation techniques and High Power
Microwave technology have matured to the point where practical E-bombs
(Electromagnetic bombs) are becoming technically feasible, with new
applications in both Strategic and Tactical Information Warfare. The
development of conventional E-bomb devices allows their use in
non-nuclear confrontations. This paper discusses aspects of the
technology base, weapon delivery techniques and proposes a doctrinal
foundation for the use of such devices in warhead and bomb applications.
1. Introduction

The prosecution of a successful Information Warfare (IW) campaign
against an industrialised or post industrial opponent will require a
suitable set of tools. As demonstrated in the Desert Storm air campaign,
air power has proven to be a most effective means of inhibiting the
functions of an opponent's vital information processing infrastructure.
This is because air power allows concurrent or parallel engagement of a
large number of targets over geographically significant areas
[SZAFRANSKI95].

While Desert Storm demonstrated that the application of air power was
the most practical means of crushing an opponent's information
processing and transmission nodes, the need to physically destroy these
with guided munitions absorbed a substantial proportion of available air
assets in the early phase of the air campaign. Indeed, the aircraft
capable of delivery laser guided bombs were largely occupied with this
very target set during the first nights of the air battle.

The efficient execution of an IW campaign against a modern industrial or
post-industrial opponent will require the use of specialised tools
designed to destroy information systems. Electromagnetic bombs built for
this purpose can provide, where delivered by suitable means, a very
effective tool for this purpose.
2.The EMP Effect

The ElectroMagnetic Pulse (EMP) effect [1] was first observed during the
early testing of high altitude airburst nuclear weapons [GLASSTONE64].
The effect is characterised by the production of a very short (hundreds
of nanoseconds) but intense electromagnetic pulse, which propagates away
from its source with ever diminishing intensity, governed by the theory
of electromagnetism. The ElectroMagnetic Pulse is in effect an
electromagnetic shock wave.

This pulse of energy produces a powerful electromagnetic field,
particularly within the vicinity of the weapon burst. The field can be
sufficiently strong to produce short lived transient voltages of
thousands of Volts (ie kiloVolts) on exposed electrical conductors, such
as wires, or conductive tracks on printed circuit boards, where exposed.

It is this aspect of the EMP effect which is of military significance,
as it can result in irreversible damage to a wide range of electrical
and electronic equipment, particularly computers and radio or radar
receivers. Subject to the electromagnetic hardness of the electronics, a
measure of the equipment's resilience to this effect, and the intensity
of the field produced by the weapon, the equipment can be irreversibly
damaged or in effect electrically destroyed. The damage inflicted is not
unlike that experienced through exposure to close proximity lightning
strikes, and may require complete replacement of the equipment, or at
least substantial portions thereof.

Commercial computer equipment is particularly vulnerable to EMP effects,
as it is largely built up of high density Metal Oxide Semiconductor
(MOS) devices, which are very sensitive to exposure to high voltage
transients. What is significant about MOS devices is that very little
energy is required to permanently wound or destroy them, any voltage in
typically in excess of tens of Volts can produce an effect termed gate
breakdown which effectively destroys the device. Even if the pulse is
not powerful enough to produce thermal damage, the power supply in the
equipment will readily supply enough energy to complete the destructive
process. Wounded devices may still function, but their reliability will
be seriously impaired. Shielding electronics by equipment chassis
provides only limited protection, as any cables running in and out of
the equipment will behave very much like antennae, in effect guiding the
high voltage transients into the equipment.

Computers used in data processing systems, communications systems,
displays, industrial control applications, including road and rail
signalling, and those embedded in military equipment, such as

The Life of an International Telecommuter

by Estaban Hill

I live in Mexico City, Mexico. It takes me one minute to commute to work
every morning. That is the time it takes for my computer to dial the
connection to my Internet Service Provider.

Where do I want to work today? Chicago.

This past month I received an email and ICQ message from a client of
mine in Chicago inquiring about my availability to perform some
3D-animations for a corporate meeting taking place in Miami, Florida in
the middle of April. We talked about the time frame of the project, 14
days, and a general overview of the project. It all sounded agreeable.
So we commenced with the plans.

The project originally consisted of a single animation, then my client
informed me that an additional animation was also needed. There was time
for both, and things were going along smoothly so far, so I agreed.

The primary animation was a 3-screen panoramic logo animation. This
animation was to be played back before a live audience on 3 separate
screens, side-by-side, each screen approximately 12ft x 9ft. The
perspective center of the animation would be in the center of the middle
screen. This would give the 3 screens the appearance of one large
panoramic screen. Each screen would be driven by its own Digital
Beta-cam or SP Video Playback deck. So the animation needed to be
rendered to 3 separate videotapes. I have done this before, so the
necessary techniques are in my bag of tricks.

What makes a 3-screen project more of a project would only be in render
time (that is, in the computational processing which converts the 3D
models and animation programming into high-quality visual moving
pictures). Since I am "virtually" rendering 3 screens as if it was one
large screen, it can take up to three times the rendering time.

First, my client faxed me the well-done storyboards (pencil sketches of
the animation sequence), and everything was very self-explanatory. Then
they sent me via e-mail a JPEG computer image file of the meeting logo,
and the corporate logo, and an Adobe Illustrator file of the logos also.
This really helps out a lot, as I can use many of the existing shapes
and curves as a starting point for the 3D model in my 3D-animation
program.

As the creation of the 3D models progressed, I would post preview and
status images with descriptions, to one of my Internet web sites. Then I
would email my client about the updated postings. They were able to pull
up from any web browser, wherever they were, the preview images, and
status descriptions. If my client was on-line, many times we would have
an ICQ chat (ICQ is an internet messaging and chatting program) about
how it was looking and about the progress, and I would send them changed
images that I was making while we talked in real-time. I repeated the
same process for the animation previews (these are small-sized versions
of the current animation sequence). I used AVI and MPEG video type files
for the previews. Depending on what part of the animation I was working
on, I would send wire-frame (objects appear to be made of a mesh of
wires) versions—if it was only tests of the objects’ motions and
timings. If it was about colors, lighting, or visual effects, then I
would send an actual! fully rendered preview (in which objects have full
color, lighting, and textures applied).

Transferring Files

The project was working out very well so far. One of the problems that I
have encountered in the past with working over the Internet is with the
successful transfer of these files, which are sometimes several
megabytes in size. The single image previews were fine—they are only a
couple of kilobytes each. It is the animation previews that can cause
the problems downloading (transferring from somewhere on the Internet to
your hard drive), because of their size and/or the unreliability of
standard point-click-save-as web browser activated downloads.

One solution that works out very well, is for me to set up my clients
with a little program that works as a Download Agent, or as the industry
likes to call it, a download manager. Now what a download manager does
is something that never occurred to Bill Gates with all of his
fiber-optic Internet connections. Download managers are for people like
us who use the real Internet. How many times have you clicked on a file
in Internet Explorer, or Netscape, and it starts the download, only to
abort after 2 or 15 minutes? Then you have to restart the file from the
beginning? Not anymore with a good download manager.

The download manager that I prefer for its simplicity and power is
NetVampire. It is a free program that you can download

School Tattletale, Government Snitch

by Sunni Maravillosa

The most hated kids at any school are the bullies and the tattletales.
While some misguided parents actually encourage bully-type behavior,
virtually no one wants their child to be the one who snitches on
others—even at home, telling on one’s siblings is likely to earn a
rebuke. Reasons for not tattling range from it being "un-American" to
the fact that someone else’s behavior is none of the snitch’s business.
Yet children continue to tattle, and have even begun turning their
parents in for alleged wrongdoing.

There are several explanations for this rise in childhood snitching. In
many families, the parent or parents are so busy trying to pay all the
bills that they do not have much time left to devote to the children. In
others, children are little more than status symbols whom the parents do
not care to get to know as individuals, and whom are sent away out of
the parent’s sight for as much time as possible. The result of both of
these situations is a child who gets most of his or her values from
people other than the parents. The place most of them learn whatever
values they may acquire is from school. And for the majority of
children, that school is a government-funded, public school.

Ah yes, the public schools: propaganda mills for the statists.

Public schools are indoctrination centers for those in power to
promulgate their views of past, present, and the future. There is much
to comment on here, but rather than wander too far afield, let’s focus
on some of the "education" public schools foist upon their subjects.
Either directly or indirectly (and ofttimes both), students learn that
so-called self-esteem is more important than actual learning, and that
as long as they make a show of trying, they’ll be passed to the next
level. As a result, a student often learns that results do not
matter—just the effort is sufficient. This is worse than learning that
"the ends justify the means"; it teaches that "an end is an end is an
end". And we see the success of that learning, in the functional
illiteracy rates among high school graduates, and the increasing need
for remedial college courses.

Schools also use subtle means to get information they want from
students. Under the guise of concern, school nurses and guidance
counselors ask all sorts of questions of the students, including prying
questions about a child’s home life. Thus, even a student who is
rightfully suspicious of outsiders’ meddlings may be lulled into
answering questions that are the business of no one outside the family.
Even a school administrator may take this approach in trying to identify
the perpetrator of some prank, as happened to me in my high school days.
Without even knowing it, then, a young person may inadvertently reveal
innocuous information that could be misinterpreted and bring about
severe consequences for the parents, and the entire family.

Government Snitch Programs

And then there’s the explicit snitch indoctrination program of DARE. In
this program, community police enter the schools, supposedly to teach
children "drug abuse resistance and education". Included in that
program, however, is a strong component of snitching—telling one’s
principal about other children’s suspicious behavior, and calling the
police for any suspected illegal-drug-related activity outside the
school. Well-intentioned children repeat the slogans of DARE, which
include informing "the authorities", in the programs, which are
presented as fun activities, and even games. Then, when children see
evidence of marijuana use in the home, for example, they think that it’s
a good thing to call the police. It isn’t until the sibling or parent is
hustled off in handcuffs that the child begins to have any inkling of
how destructive to the family that one phone call is going to be. And of
course, it’s too late then.

The public schools do not deserve all the responsibility for these
youthful tattletales. Many go to private schools, and many are fortunate
enough to go to public schools that don’t have the funding to support
the DARE propaganda pitch. Where else do kids learn their talkative
habits?

From their parents, of course.

The very same parents whom I just said encourage their children not to
tattle.

How can that be?

Ironically, it has happened in the name of "patriotism", as some will
probably describe the phenomenon. The federal government has made a big
business of "informing" on fellow citizens. The most obvious example
involves paying people who implicate others in some crime, or who sell
information used in obtaining a search warrant. While those who commit

On the Nature of Debate, Denial and Refutation

by Robert L. Kocher

As a basic philosophical principle, there comes a point at which if two
people or groups of people are at such extreme variance in their most
fundamental perceptions and interpretations of the world around them,
then this variation can only be explained in terms of at least one of
the people or groups having some sort of serious mental disorder. For
example, if one person points to an object on my desk as an ash tray
while another person seriously insists it is a hippopotamus, the issue
is really not related to intellectual difference or even anything that
can be resolved by intellectual discourse. The issue is one of basic
sanity or basic mental competence. Within this context, it should be
understood that not all differences of opinion can be resolved by reason
or by even the most obvious real-world evidence.

During a Nightline segment some years ago, discussing an anniversary of
the Woodstock music festival, I heard Carlos Santana, one of the
Woodstock musicians, debating two other people about the significance
and legacy of the event. Santana talked vaguely about a consciousness
legacy of the period and some other mystical aspects. One of the other
people interviewed, who happened to be President Carter's former press
chief, argued that the significance was a destructive legacy of drugs.
Santana replied in substance, You have your reality and I have my
reality. That reply, in one concise phrase is one of the true
destructive legacies of the borderline Sixties and Seventies-and
Woodstock. Anyone could make up any desired version of anything and it
was still to be regarded as reality. Anyone was entitled to his or her
own version of reality. Conversely, anyone could arbitrarily deny any
aspect of reality which did not suit him.

Regardless of any arguments to the contrary, the conventional real world
with its lawfulness of cause, effect, and consequences is the only world
I, or you, have. Regardless of whether we would like to hallucinate a
different world, or wish there were a different world, or wish there
were different consequences, or argue for the validity of subjective
experience over reality, or argue that subjective experience is the only
reality; the conventionally defined sane (conventionally sane as was
defined in this country before the borderline Sixties) method of
interacting with that world is the only one that works over time.
Violation of that working principle points one rather consistently,
objectively or subjectively, unto the house of defecation.

There is only one reality. In Mr. Santana's case the reality is that
many of the people who appeared on that same stage subsequently died
from drugs within a few years after Woodstock. Some of the others
weren't even that lucky and destroyed themselves incrementally over a
period of years. That is the reality that is.

Whether he or others want to accept it or not, will not change it. That
is the reality that is. Continued irrelevant argumentation will not
change that. That is the reality that is.

When Debate Is Futile

It is a fact of life that you cannot win an argument with someone who is
not sane. Sane bystanders may come to agree with your presentation, but
you have no way of convincing someone who is not sane of anything. This
is implicit in the definition of insanity. This is inherent in the
psychotic process or borderline-psychotic process of reality-denial. The
rules of rationality, and basic reality, are not recognized in the
insane world. As a consequence, the valid rationality of an argument is
not recognized in that world. Neither is irrationality recognized in
that world. Given those two conditions, no intellectual leverage is
possible to establish agreement on the truth.

There are several entirely different reasons why any given argument or
explanation cannot be refuted.

One reason an argument may be irrefutable is that the argument is so
incoherent as to be irrefutable. It is more mental disturbance than it
is argument. If someone says something is true, or says they should be
allowed to do something, because glack sbutz ta snirt kluda zohx opleg
hawpikw, no direct intellectual refutation is possible.

There are arguments or explanations using real words instead of nonsense
syllables which make no more sense than the preceding. Such arguments
are, or should be, their own refutation. They are, on their own face,
clearly irrational. Here we are dealing with irrationality as a primary
quality. The existence or form of primary qualities cannot be argued.
Something is either red, black, round, square, or it is not. In the same

Placing 'Me' Before 'We': Ayn Rand's Anthem

by Michael R. Allen

Ayn Rand's classic story of one man's desire to become an individual in
a nameless society presents a compelling refutation of collectivism in
all forms.

The hero, labeled "Equality 7-2521" by the State, chooses to challenge
conventional authority as he learns the joys of experimentation and
discovery, the ecstasy of human love, the challenge and fairness of
liberty, and the happiness of self-interest. Equality 7-2521 keeps a
diary that is the book itself, and in this journal he writes three
unique phrases, which will be discussed individually in the remainder of
this essay.
I."My happiness needs no higher aim to vindicate it. My happiness is not
the means to an end. It is the end."

In the tale, this thought drives the entire actions of Equality 7-2521
as he progresses in his attempt to become an individual. His happiness
is not satisfied when he must share it universally with all men. Not
every man can be as happy as the next, and therefore the forced
brotherhood of all men will only deplete the spirits of those who are
successful. In Anthem, Rand tells of Equality's joy when he "discovers"
electricity. At that moment he knows that the joy of discovery is only
his to relish, and that it cannot be shared or manipulated by any other
man. In that regard, his own well-being is the end of his striving; he
has fulfilled his wishes. To say that his happiness was only the means
to, say, world peace would be to abolish his status as an independent
body.

An individual's happiness is the culmination of patience, work, and
physical or material expenditure. Such happiness is self-contained, as
there is no possible way for a human to know the feelings of another.
The fulfillment of one's desires cannot be anything but the end, as the
individual sets his own goals and, when they are achieved, has reached
the finishing point of an endeavor. (The only conceivable way in which
individual happiness could be seen as a means to another goal would be
if that goal were the complete happiness of society—in which case the
individual would again be placed in subservience to a group.) Man's
sovereign rights would be infringed upon if he were seen as a unit in a
broader plan rather than as a self-contained human being.
II."We know that we are evil, but there is no will in us and no power to
resist it."

This sentence has a powerful meaning in the story. Equality 7-2521 is
not evil in the traditional sense of right versus wrong, but he is evil
in the sense that he refuses to join the collectivist program of the
rulers. They view him as evil, and he does not wish to change his
beliefs or resist the emergence of latent individualism. He dares to
love, to take a name, to invent something alone, and, worst of all, he
dares to find happiness in solitude rather than with a group. To the
dictators of this fictional society, his evils are breaches of the
spirit of groupthink. In the story, he at first doubts his opinions and
beliefs, but he finally accepts that they will not leave his mind, and
his destiny is sealed. In his recognition of his core belief (individual
freedom), he becomes aware that he cannot resist pursuing this immutable
sense of freedom.

Briefly, this sentence is the summary of man's existence. Man knows he
is selfish, and those who allow self-interest to permeate their being
are often called greedy or evil. However, without selfishness man is
reduced from an advanced mind to a mere member of a group of animals
that lack personal expression. As in the society of the story, those who
defy the conventional wisdom today are not treated with respect. Modern
culture has focused on compassion and charity as the ultimate
expressions of mankind's love, but it has failed to acknowledge that
self-love is one of the primary aspects of freedom and self-governance.
III."The word 'We' . . . must never be placed first within man's soul."

Equality 7-2521 deals with the totalitarian wrath of the horrible
society in which he lives. This bleak and depressing world is the direct
result of the end of individualism. Because an individual cannot
accomplish great things, no further inventions can be made. Because man
must work for his fellow man and not himself, he does not earn wages and
has to live in barren communes and perform tasks to which he is
assigned.

Since this society believes that man must never be alone, the pronoun
"I" has been eradicated and people made into couples ("we"). This
fictional society reinforces the good of the group in every imaginable
facet of life. There is no time when one is allowed to read, write, or
think

In Canada, Government Knows Best

by Peter Topolewski

Canada has a million things right. But here are some of what it has most
wrong.

Number one: many Canadians suffer delusions about the problems facing
them. Here is what a reader of my article Taxes on Mars (Laissez Faire
City Times, Vol. 3, No. 14) had to say about Canadian socialism:

We do pay higher taxes yet I think one has to look at our society as a
whole as to whether we get our money's worth or not. Universal health
care is open to the rich or poor, and even the homeless can get
treatment. I have yet to meet anyone who has complained of the treatment
that they got under the system.

I don’t know anyone who has complained of the treatment they received in
Canada’s health care system either, but again and again Canadians tell
pollsters that improving the health care system is the most critical
issue facing the nation. From BC to Quebec headlines tell of bed
shortages forcing patients to spend nights sleeping in hospital hallways
and closets. Across the country nurses, support workers, and doctors
have been in pitched labor battles with their employers, the provincial
governments. Surgery wait times is an uncomfortable euphemism
politicians have applied to a medical system that can schedule your
surgery six months from now, at the earliest. Although these sickly
characteristics do not constitute what the media, in its exuberance,
calls a health care crisis, no Canadian can pretend that all with the
much-vaunted health care system is rosy. Wake up.

Number two: too many Canadians want to solve the country’s economic and
social problems by making them worse. According to the demands from
columnists, activists, bureaucrats, and many average citizens, the only
way to solve health care problems, poverty, child abuse, illiteracy,
crime, racism, drug abuse, sexism, and so on is by spending more money.
The problem is there isn’t more money available to spend, and—what’s
more—there never will be.

Health care for example has come under significant federal cuts over the
last few years. That’s because since the 1970’s demand for nearly all
government services has been greater than the supply of dollars funding
them, and just now is the country beginning to pay for those services
rendered. The account is long overdue, and a mountain of debt remains.
Recent spending cuts were ostensibly the source of funds for a payment
on the federal debt. But even the cuts were not sufficient to cover the
bill – Finance Minister Paul Martin was able to make his small, symbolic
debt payment only because he stole $19 billion in unemployment insurance
premiums from the nation’s unemployed. Given this state of affairs how
can Canada possibly afford to increase federal spending on anything? The
debts, barely serviceable and threatening to cripple the country, need
to be repaid. Each day they are allowed to expand diminishes the chances
of paying them off before they bankrupt the entire system.

The tax burden in Canada long ago passed the oppressive mark. And while
this has even become a concern at the UN, many Canadians believe it
their duty to pay their fair share, as the above quote indicates (re: we
do pay higher taxes yet I think one has to look at our society as a
whole as to whether we get our money's worth or not). In my opinion
Canadians have little idea how much tax they pay. Besides the depressing
federal and provincial taxes, one or two sales taxes (depending where
you live), payroll, cigarette, alcohol, and gasoline taxes, and all the
other regular taxes, Canadians face government "user fees" that have
grown exponentially over the last ten years as well as government
utilities that skim profits into general government revenue. Without
knowing how much tax money they send the government, citizens have no
way of knowing if they are "getting their money’s worth"; but the
current state of affairs makes it clear that whatever amount Canadians
do pay in taxes it is not enough to meet the demand. What portion of the
average Canadian’s income will support government’s services? 100
percent? Not likely.

This ugly scenario of huge debt, service cutbacks, and awesome tax
burden should make it clear to Canadians that this system cannot support
itself. Even with 100 percent of taxpayer income there is no reason to
believe it could. Government, in Canada and in general, is inherently
inefficient. Estimates by the Fraser Institute indicate that for every
eight dollars fed into the Canadian federal tax system citizens see one
dollar in benefits. This ratio is likely no better in any other country,
and in many probably significantly worse. This

Free Love from the 60s to the 90s

(The 1860s to the 1890s, that is)

by Don Lobo Tiggre

This April just past, spectators to America’s War On Sex were treated to
the spectacle of the state of Tennessee breaking up April Divilbiss’
family. The Divilbisses never hurt anyone and their little girl passed a
psych evaluation with flying colors.

But they are pagans, and polyamorous (two husbands, one wife), which was
enough for the state—not to put too fine a point on it—to abduct their
daughter and refuse to return her until the three adults broke up their
marriage. The story made national, and even international news.

Whether you agree with this type of arrangement or not, the power of
bigots to stomp into a happy household and abduct little girls under
color of law is a sobering—and for many—terrifying reality check. It is
tempting for freedom-lovers to let the feeling of persecution generated
by such incidents weigh us down. However, a quick look at history should
be enough to remind us that our freedom to live the lifestyle of our
choice is greater now than it has been for a thousand years, or more, in
the West.

Just how old is Mrs. Grundy anyway?

No one can say for certain, but she has been with us for a long time,
heaping unwanted public attention and condemnation on those who dare to
be different in their sexuality. And yet, it seems doubtful she held
much sway in Rome or Greece; those cultures seem to have been fairly
lifestyle-tolerant. During the dark ages, there was such a vacuum of
authority that even the Wiccans of the time were largely left alone by
Christendom. However, with the rise of the centralized power structures
of the nation-state came an increasing will and ability to enforce many
of the more sexually repressive attitudes of the fathers of the Catholic
church. This deepening tide of repression grew to a crescendo of
hypocrisy that only abated when World War I put an end to the Gilded
Age.

How bad was it?

Court cases show that even after the turn of this century, a wife’s
income was considered to be her husband’s property. Marriage, as
construed by the culture and laws of the Victorian era, basically gave a
man ownership over his wife. More specifically, it gave him a legal
right to her sex, regardless of how she might feel about it. Since even
information regarding contraception was banned, control over
reproduction was in the hands of men. There was no legal recourse for a
woman, and little else she could do—short of murder—to stop her husband
if he wanted to have sex with her.

Consider the tone of this advertisement from The Wyoming Press,
published in 1900 for a product that had been for sale throughout the
latter half of the 19th century:

HOW IS YOUR WIFE?

Has she lost her beauty? If so, Constipation, Indigestion, Sick Headache
are the principal causes. Karl’s Clover Root Tea has cured these ills
for half a century. Price 25cts. And 50cts. Money refunded if results
are not satisfactory. Sold by Harrison Roth, Druggists.

The insult to women aside, this ad and others like it—all directed at
men—clearly show what a sexually benighted time the Victorian era was.

But something extraordinary happened at the height of this hypocrisy:
the Free Love movement. The movement actually started at about the same
time as an interest in Spiritualism swept the United States in the 1830s
and 1840s. It is worth clarifying that in the mid 1800s, Spiritualism
meant communicating with spirits—knocking noises on walls and tables,
speaking to dear old aunt Thelma, that sort of thing. The New York Times
, regarded as a liberal bastion by today’s conservatives, did not then
regard these spirits very highly: "They were not in the field five years
till they sought a ‘fusion’ with the Free-Lovers, began to assail the
marriage relation, invent new causes of difference between man and wife,
and find excuses to satisfy the consciences of bigamists, and adulterers
and fornicators."

Key figures in the early Free-Love movement, many of whom were also
abolitionists, included Victoria Woodhull (the first female candidate
for U.S. president), Thomas L. and Mary G. Nichols, Andrew Jackson
Davis, and Stephen Pearl Andrews. The movement was fairly conservative
to begin with, in that the focus was still on the propriety of
traditional family structures and duties. However, Free-Lovers also held
that love (and, for some, Spiritual affinity) should determine whether a
union formed or endured, not the church or state.

Later, as the movement matured, it grew more diverse, even encompassing
a faction that could be described as polyamorous. There were two
groupings, known as the

SATANISTS UNDER INVESTIGATION
   Kabwe

POLICE in Kabwe have sent the skull and bones which they
retrieved from the Masonic building in Kabwe yesterday to
the University Teaching for scientific examination.

Central Province police chief, Nungu Sassassali, said today
that bones which are believed to be relics of Satanists were
sent to the UTH for a forensic examination so they can be
determined whether they are human or not.

Mr Sassassali says police have already interviewed the three
suspects who were picked up from the Masonic Building and are
carrying out even further envestigations in the case.

The three were picked up in the morning on Wednesday when
police raided the Masonic building after a tip-off from members
of the public that it was being used as a temple for Satanists.

There was pandamonium in Kabwe town when the alleged Satanists
were taken to the police station as enraged Christian sysmpathisers
wanted to lynch them right there and then.

Police had to protect the 'Satanists' by firing in the air and
lobbying tear-gas canisters into the milling increasingly hostile
crowd.

As it orients towards the Caspian, Washington modifies sanctions against
Iran
By James Brookfield
3 May 1999

The Clinton Administration made two diplomatic overtures towards Iran last
week. First, on Wednesday, April 28, it decided to allow US firms to sell
food and medicine to the country, along with Libya and Sudan. Though the
State Department continues to denote all three states as "terrorist," and to
maintain other economic restrictions against each of them, it will now
permit the sale of "human necessities" on a case-by-case basis rather than
continue the existing blanket trade embargo on all products.

Then on Friday, the State Department dropped its designation of Iran as the
world's chief terrorist nation. The New York Times quoted an unnamed
government official as saying, "If the Iranians read this as a signal for
better ties, fine."

Little official explanation was given for these changes. This is remarkable
in that only last August the US bombed a pharmaceutical plant in Khartoum,
Sudan and less than two years ago William C. Ramsay, the Deputy Assistant
Secretary for Energy, Sanctions and Commodities, claimed that "no nation's
behavior poses a greater threat to US political and security interests than
that of Iran."

What accounts for the new approach from Washington?

Some cast the sanctions policy change as a humanitarian gesture. "The use of
food as a weapon is wrong," said Senator Larry Craig of Idaho. That Congress
has yet to drop embargoes against Iraq and Cuba indicates, however, that Mr.
Craig's principle is honored more often in the breach than in the observance
by US policy makers.

Other government officials pointed to less noble motivations. "For America's
farmers, this policy means opening up new markets and reviving old ones that
had been off-limits, giving them a chance to boost their bottom line." If
one reads "big agribusiness" for "America's farmers" one gets closer to the
truth. The first deal awaiting approval from the US Treasury Department is a
$500 million shipment of grain and sugar from the US-based Niki Trading
Company to Iran. In addition to the Niki deal, US companies now expect to
sell $500 million worth of commodities to Iran each year.

More significant than the expected windfall for US agriculture, however, is
the strategic shift in US policy that is being initiated via these two
diplomatic steps.

The Clinton Administration and the Iranian government of Mohammad Khatami
have been seeking, each for their own reasons, a diplomatic rapprochement of
sorts, described by US officials as a "dialogue," since the latter's 1997
election.

In the preceding four years, Washington, hostile to Tehran since the Iranian
revolution and wary of its status as a regional power, had sought to pummel
the country economically. In the spring of 1995 it ratcheted up its existing
trade sanctions. This move prompted a sharp fall in the rial and increases
in Iranian unemployment and inflation. The US followed up the next year with
the Iran-Libya Sanctions Act which threatened penalties for foreign firms
that did business with either of the two countries.

Even prior to the 1995-96 sanctions the Iranian economy was in severe
difficulty. The country had been largely bankrupted by its eight-year war
with Iraq in the 1980s. Then falling commodity prices hit. Export oil
earnings fell from $19 billion in 1986 to $10 billion in 1998. With little
capital to invest in the modernization of industry, substantial sections of
Iranian policymakers began to debate proposals for "reform" including
cutbacks on domestic gasoline subsidies and the opening of the oil industry
to private ownership and at least partial foreign control. By 1995 the
government had signed a contract with Total, the French oil company, to
develop the Sirri oil field. In 1996 Iran was reported to have launched a
secret bid to join the World Trade Organization, which would have required
the further undoing of restrictions on foreign trade. This setting served as
the backdrop to the coming to power of the Khatami government.

The new administration continued the turn toward Western investment, trade,
and diplomatic relations. Last month, for example, the parliament passed a
law allowing up to 49 percent foreign ownership of Iranian oil refineries.
The government also signed a $1 billion deal with Elf Aquitaine of France
and ENI of Italy to modernize an offshore oil field in the Persian Gulf.
Khatami also actively courted US policymakers, taking the step,
unprecedented since 1979, of granting an interview to US television in 1998.

The new Iranian orientation coincided with a foreign policy debate among US
officials and business executives about relations with Tehran. Oil
companies, effectively locked out of investing in Iran, found themselves at
a competitive disadvantage vis-à-vis their European rivals. At the same
time, Iran acquired newfound importance to

Television —
Reflection of Modern America

James C. Williams

The end of the Second World War found most Americans riding a crest of
affluence hardly dreamed of in the 1930s. Together individuals and
corporations had saved more than $48 billion during the war years, thus
stimulating an unexpected postwar economic boom. Most Americans chose to
ignore the problems festering under the surface-international instabilities,
race relations, persistent poverty, and urban decay. Millions of people moved
upward into a middle-class way of life which included ranch-style homes,
leisurely weekends, automobiles, boats, trailers, expensive hobbies, air
conditioning, and pre-packaged foods. Prominent among new products available
to Americans was television.

Originally developed during the 1920s, television was introduced commercially
by RCA at the 1939 New York World's Fair. Although the war cut short the new
media's growth, RCA rushed TV sets on the market soon after the 1945 Japanese
surrender. By late 1948 the Federal Communications Commission had issued 108
station licenses, but wave spectrum interference problems and the lack of
continental TV cables and microwave relays slowed television's growth.
Nevertheless, the media's popularity was evident. In 1951 cities having TV
stations reported movies, nightclubs, and sports events were suffering
audience losses. jukebox and taxi receipts dropped, and radio listening
declined substantially. Network radio sponsors were ready to switch to
television when American Telephone and Telegraph Company completed nationwide
cables and relay stations in 1952. The countdown for TV passed its final
stage.

A scramble to open stations followed the solution to interference problems,
and by the end of 1952 over nineteen million TV sets were tuned to I Love
Lucy, Ed Sullivan's Toast of the Town, Arthur Godfrey's Friends, and the
Philco Television Playhouse. Of America's homes 46 percent had "the tube,"
launching a new age in communications media. By the end of the decade
almost90 percent of America's homes had a TV, and by the 1970s New York State
courts had ruled that TV-along with tools, pots and pans, and prosthetic
devices-was an essential necessity of life and as such beyond the reach of
creditors. More homes had a TV than had indoor plumbing, refrigerators, and
telephones. Indeed, 45 percent had two or more sets in 1978.

Television has grown so rapidly that there has hardly been time to examine
its significance. Critics of the media have generally pointed to its negative
impact upon Americans. They have argued that TV made Americans passive; it
eroded important differences in regions and social classes; violence on the
screen prompted an increase in real world violence; children raised on TV
grew up as illiterates; and TV conditioned us to seek simple, formulized
solutions for problems. Marshall McLuhan bravely saw TV as a positive force,
reshaping the very nature of humankind and making us all inhabitants of a
"global village." Now we are beginning to see that television, both as an
industry and in its programming, is as much a reflector as it is a
conditioner of society. In and behind the flickering images we see are many
facets of our urban-industrial world, our political and economic System, our
nation's international role, and our values.

The urban-industrial environment in which modern Americans live has
profoundly disconnected people from the natural world. We are no longer
personally involved with the nuances of nature, its plant and animal life.
The steel and concrete architecture of our cities and the repeated sameness
of our suburbs has come to stand between us and our primary experiences with
nature. Even the rural areas have felt this mediation of experience at
secondhand, as single crops replaced the diversity of natural environments.
Urban life often has seemed an abstraction, a sort of arbitrary
reconstruction of reality. Single-family homes and apartments separated
Americans in both social and physical distance from places of work and the
decisive political and economic centers of society. Our lives thrust toward
mobile, fragmented privatization. "Broadcasting in its applied form,"
observed Raymond Williams, "was a social product of this distinctive
tendency." The central transmitter broadcasting images to domestic sets
provided "a whole social intake" to privatized homes. Our use of television
accentuated the privatization process even further when individuals within
each home switched on their own sets. TV, argues ex-advertising agent Jerry
Mander, became the archetypal mediating machine. Its images further
interposed between us and the natural world, thereby standardizing,
reinforcing, and confirming the validity of the artificial environment
created by

CHAPTER XVI

WHY WARRING U. S. STARVED FOR SUGAR

JIMMY WRITES INSURANCE

The New Deal developed strictly along the lines of the spoils system. Since
"Charity begins at home", it was a New Deal first of all for the Roosevelt
family and second for the Roosevelt-Delano Dynasty. This is perfectly
illustrated by the story of why the United States starved for sugar during
the war.

The Adams branch of the Dynasty traditionally are heavily interested in the
West Indies sugar industry. One of the cogent reasons for this patrician
family throwing in its lot with the "rabble" during the Revolutionary War
period was England's interference with the ruin, molasses and slave trade
with the West -Indies.

When Franklin Delano Roosevelt entered office the Dynasty was well
represented in its holdings in the sugar industry. "Cousin" Frederick B.
Adams, in addition to his interests in the munition. industry signalized by
his position of Chairman of the Board of the Air Reduction Company and
Director of the Remington Arms Company, held many key positions in the sugar
industry including: Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Atlantic Fruit
and Sugar Company, President of the Cuban Dominican Sugar Company, President
of the Santa Ana Sugar Company, Director of the Sugar Estates of Oriente,
President of the Barhona Sugar Corporation, and President of the Tanamo Sugar
Corporation; subsequently he became President of the West Indies Sugar
Company. "Cousin" Charles Francis Adams, whose interests ran more to local
utilities and to shipbuilding and naval construction, represented the Dynasty
in only two sugar companies as Director of the American Sugar Refining
Company and Director of the Central Aguirre Sugar Company. Robert C. Adams
was Director of the Warner Sugar Company. In short the Dynasty was more than
a little interested in sugar. Also interested in sugar were the
Rockefeller-Morgan clique and the National City Bank.

The sugar industry at this time was in a state verging on bankruptcy and the
condition of the West Indies companies was particularly bad. In a commercial
Dynasty such as the Roosevelt-Delano, this called for prompt action.
Roosevelt's action was particularly prompt. The New Dealers deliberately
conspired to destroy the American sugar industry and to favor the West Indies
sugar industry.

In the course of the 1932 campaign Hoover had accused Roosevelt of planning
to injure the American farmer, among other things, by lowering tariffs.
Roosevelt denied the charges. But a year later, his Secretary of Agriculture,
Henry Wallace, began, on behalf of the Dynasty, the campaign to destroy the
continental American sugar industry on special behalf of the West Indies and
Latin American industry. On July 31, 1934, Wallace pronounced in a speech to
farmers at the free Chatauqua held on the campus of the Louisiana Poly.
technic Institute, Ruston, Louisiana, what Charles A. Farwell, executive of
the American Sugar Cane League called "Wallace's death sentence on
Louisiana's sugar industry." Wallace pronounced according to the report in
the Times-Picayune published on that date and quoted, December 1938, by the
journalistic genius, Meigs Frost, in a masterly series of articles in the New
Orleans State,

"Sugar is an inefficient industry. I am willing to say that in
Louisiana where sugar is produced ... "I do not believe the Louisiana sugar
or any other inefficient industry should be put out of business all at once.
That would be hard on human right. But it should be exposed gradually to the
winds of world commerce."

That Wallace was assigned by his Dynastic masters to accomplish some
particularly vicious dirty work, is revealed by the testimony given
previously by one of his subordinates, A. J. S. Weaver, before the House
Committee on Agriculture, February 23, 1934 (quoted from the Government
report):

"Hope: Well then in other words, the policy is eliminating the (continental
American) sugar industry before it gets any bigger. Am I correct in that
assumption?

"Weaver: Yes, if you mean limiting the industry. I think that is a reasonable
statement.

"Cummings: Is it a reasonable assumption that the object of the bill
(Representatives Bill No. 7907: Includes Sugar and Sugar Cane as Basic
Commodities) then is to give us a kind of shot in the arm and put us out of
business while we are partly unconscious?

"Weaver: Yes.

"McCandless, of Hawaii: What is it, do you believe, will destroy our sugar
production?

"Weaver: Reduction in price and reduction in tariff.

"McCandless: If it had not been for the protection and holding up of the
sugar industry in the United States, would we not be at the mercy of foreign
countries for our sugar?

"Weaver: Oh that is conceivable and there is some

28/THE OUT-OF--TOWNER

THROUGH the late summer and early fall of 1964, Dorothy began producing a
series of explosive exclusives related to the assassination. The first was a
corker. Howard Rothberg picked her up one night in mid-August, after what he
understood, from Dorothy, was "some kind of meeting." She was toting a heavy
sheath of papers inside the cover of the Life magazine issue that featured
Lee Harvey Oswald on the cover, hefting the Mannlicher-Carcano with which he
was alleged to have shot the President. Howard relieved her of the package as
they left his car and headed toward a restaurant.

"What are all these papers?" Howard asked.

She answered jauntily: "Oh, it's just the Warren Commission Report."[1]

The report was not due to be released until late September, until which time
it was classified Top Secret. Dorothy had somehow obtained a verbatim copy of
a portion of the voluminous study, consisting of Jack Ruby's testimony to the
commission, which had transpired in Dallas back in June of that year.

It would take Dorothy three days to convince her newspaper to publish the
long-awaited document. She had first to swear to her publisher, Joseph
Kingsbury Smith, and to the lawyers at the Journal-American, that she had
done nothing illegal in- obtaining the transcript and that the person from
whom she obtained it was in rightful possession of the 102 page segment.
Smith asked her to name her source. This she would not do.

Dorothy assumed that her paper's reluctance to publish transcended the legal
issues involved. She would tell Mark Lane that she perceived a compliant
self-censorship at the journal, that the publisher knew that the government
would not be pleased and that he might, as a result, become persona non grata
at White House functions. Lane asked her if she didn't fear the same kind of
social ostracism. "Oh, Lyndon's a bore," she replied. "Who wants to go to his
parties?" Mark Lane was not buying her flip response. He believed that she
was just too modest to proclaim that getting the facts out about the
assassination dwarfed any social considerations she might have had.[2]

In her dealings with the paper, she permitted Paul Schoenstein to photostat
only one page of the document, which was run to authenticate the coup. The
rest she demanded back after its contents were typed. The testimony was
published in three parts, with Dorothy's comments, questions, and assessments
running alongside. The installments were treated with proper hoopla. She was
making available, for the first time, one of the most eagerly awaited
documents of the century.

The first installment of the Ruby transcript was published on August 18. Two
days later, Lee Rankin of the Warren Commission requested J. Edgar Hoover to
conduct an investigation of how Dorothy came into possession of the
classified report.[3] The investigation was exhaustive, with agents
interviewing everyone who was in the room during the Ruby interview or had
access to the transcript thereafter. They questioned sheriffs, a jailer, a
court reporter, secretaries, district attorneys, and lawyers. The Warren
Commission was allowed to investigate its own people. There is no indication
in the FBI dossier that the source was ever uncovered. When Dorothy somehow
learned that the federal agents were narrowing in on a female court reporter
who had transcribed the proceedings, she made her one concession, insisting
that a man and not a woman was the source of her material.

Two federal agents knocked on her door on August 21. She asked them to tea,
told them that she "would die rather than reveal her source," and noted, with
amusement, that they appeared to be embarrassed, recognizing the futility of
their mission. As they were about to leave, she gave them one clue, in jest.
"I can tell you that it wasn't John Daly," she said. Daly was married to the
daughter of Chief Justice Earl Warren.[4]

Immediately after she caused the Ruby transcript to be published, Dorothy
made another trip to Dallas. There she somehow obtained the original police
log that chronicled the minute-by-minute activities of the department in the
immediate wake of the assassination, as reflected in its radio
communications.[5] She ascertained from the exclusive material a surprising
datum that would not be incorporated into the massive Warren Commission
Report. Chief Curry of the Dallas police department, who was in the first car
of the motorcade, had reacted to the shots he heard with an initial command:
"Get a man on top of the overpass and see what happened up there."[6]

Dorothy noted, in her banner story based on this latest acquisition:

Twenty-four hours after the assassination, however, Chief Curry assured
reporters that the sound of the shots told him at once they had come from the
Texas School Depository and that "right away" he radioed an order to surround
and

EPILOGUE

WHAT happened to Dorothy?

The heart-attack verdict was short-lived. Over the staunch objections of
Richard Kollmar, Dorothy was removed to the Medical Examiner's Office for
autopsy. A death certificate issued on November 15 ascribed the cause to
"acute ethanol and barbiturate intoxication-circumstances
undertermined[sic]." It meant that she died from too much pills and liquor.
"Circumstances undetermined" is not a common designation. The ME's office,
which was headed at the time by the august forensic pathologist Milton
Helpern, was admitting that it did not know whether the death was suicidal or
accidental. The question of foul play was never officially entertained.

After three years of investigating the events surrounding Dorothy's death, it
is clear to me that she did not die accidentally and that a network of varied
activities, impelled by disparate purposes, conspired effectively to
obfuscate the truth.

A household of family and servants endeavored to protect Dorothy from
scandal—either because they thought she had taken her own life, feared that
the public would misconstrue, or had reason to believe that she was not alone
in the third-floor master bedroom before she succumbed. Dorothy would have
enjoyed the Grand Guignol audition for witnesses that was staged—on her
behalf.

The pathology department of the New York Medical Ex-aminer's Office did its
job competently. But what it knew was more than it told; and pathology was
itself apparently told much less than it should have been by the chemists in
toxicology, upon whom the former relied for analysis and quantification of
the barbiturates and basic drugs that were reposited in Dorothy's body. Dr.
James L. Luke, who was dispatched to the house on November 8, explained to me
in a telephone interview, "You can't just go charging around in a situation
like that causing a lot of grief, much of which may be unnecessary. These
kinds of cases are much more complicated than, say, Jame Smith." [1]

The New York City Police Department did virtually nothing to determine the
circumstances under which Dorothy Kilgallen died. Its reports, if such they
may be called, reveal that a woman was found dead in a tidy room. Witnesses
were not interviewed. No attempt was made to reconstruct the events of the
previous night. A lone and singular police procedure was utilized that seemed
designed to obviate any possibility of determining what happened to Dorothy
after she greeted Harvey Daniels and repaired to her intimate corner at the
Regency Lounge.

The official version disseminated to the press implied accident. Dr. Luke,
who performed the autopsy and certified the death, spoke ex cathedra for his
office. His statements combined inept waffling with extraordinary
arbitrariness. Luke was interviewed by the New York Herald Tribune for a
story that appeared on November 16:

Dr. Luke would not speculate about the form in which Miss Kilgallen had taken
the barbiturates. "We'd rather leave that up in the air," he said. "We don't
want to give that out-well, just because." . . . He said that combining
alcohol and sleeping pills was a common form of accidental death. Miss
Kilgallen had taken only "moderate amounts" of alcohol and the drug before
her death, Dr. Luke said. He wouldn't give any figures.[2]

The New York Times had reported on November 10 that a Medical Examiner's
report said that Miss Kilgallen died of 'the effects of a combination of
alcohol and barbiturates, neither of which had been taken in excessive
quantity.'" That same Times piece stated that a bill had been filed for
introduction to the New York City Council by Councilman-at-Large Paul
O'Dwyer, which would further delimit the disclosing of Medical Examiner's
findings in any death because of "the public speculation over the recent
death of Dorothy Kilgallen."

Dorothy might have commented, as she did when she discovered that the
Department of justice deemed information about Lee Harvey Oswald irrelevant
to the defense of Jack Ruby—say that again, slowly.

Did the public have a right to know? To penetrate what was pretty obviously a
benign attempt to withhold facts about the death of a Roman Catholic woman?

Darkness, alas, is not selective.

Pete Hamill wrote an exceedingly Pete Hamill column about Dorothy the day
after she died, called "The Celebrity." He said that she had been a superb
reporter but that she had stooped to conquer, to become a gossip columnist
and a television personality instead, and had grown rueful and lonesome in
the end. Hamill did not know Dorothy any better than the sentinels of
darkness who watched over the truth at 45 East Sixty-eighth Street. He quoted
a friend of hers, who said, "Hell, she even died alone." Hamill concluded his
piece: "She died in her five-story townhouse . . . in one of the twenty-two
rooms, next to one of her eighteen telephones."[3]

What happened to Dorothy?

She might have committed suicide.

When Pearl Bauer and Miss Muller, who had returned from Germany to be with
the family after she heard about Dorothy's death, were instructed to ferret
through Dorothy's effects, Mrs. Bauer came upon some jottings in her late
employer's handwriting. "They were all about the reason for living and if
there was a reason for living," Mrs. Bauer recalled. I had the feeling that
they were connected to a newspaperman she knew somewhere in [she named a
midwestern state]. I had more or less suspected that someone out there had
caught her fancy. I showed the paper to the nurse, and she suggested that we
dispose of it." [42]

If Dorothy was driven to an intentional act of self-destruction, there would
seem to have been only one person in her life whose acts could have provoked
her. And he is the Outof-Towner. If, in fact, he was at the Regency that
night, he might have done it with a few drunken, rejecting words. If he was
not at the Regency, it could have happened over the telephone.

If, indeed, he carries this burden with him, this could explain why he
remains so insistent upon the platonic nature of their relationship, why he
goes so far as to stress Dorothy's acceptance of her role as fifth wheel-an
assertion that anyone who knew her well and understood the depths of her
feelings for him would gainsay.

The press agent from Carrara, "Mitch," recalled that she grew sullen and
despondent when she saw him out with another woman in a New York restaurant,
some months before her death.[43]

When I first interviewed the Out-of-Towner, I was not yet aware of Dorothy's
heady and euphoric talk with Marlin Swing at Delmonico's. I had not yet
spoken to the person who handled room arrangements at the Regency in 1965 and
confirmed to me that Dorothy was in the lounge on the night of her death.
Though that individual had not seen Dorothy, she recalled vividly that the
hotel staff was shocked to hear about Dorothy; that there was a great deal of
talk about the fact that she had been there on the night of her death.

The Out-of-Towner had contended, during our initial talks, that he was not in
New York on Sunday, November 7; that he and Dorothy chatted unextraordinarily
at about 12:30 A.M., just before she died, he in his home and she in hers. It
was, he said, "a vanilla conversation."

'With new awareness and growing dubiety, I questioned him again about the
nature of their relationship. These are excerpts from the conversation:

SUBJECT: There was some indication that it was special on her part. I kept
that in line, if you can understand that. And we remained, literally to the
night of her death, very, very dear friends . . . It certainly was not a
passing fancy, our relationship; on the other hand, it was not a love affair,
either, unless you want to make your terms very loose.

LEE ISRAEL: No, I don't want to make my terms very loose. I want to know what
she was believing and what she was fantasizing.

SUBJECT: . . . We were very close in that we talked long-distance several
times a week at least; and I saw her frequently. And I have every reason to
believe that she liked me a great deal and needed something to love. I don't
think that she was—quote—in love with me. I think there's a possibility that
for a short time she thought it. But we did work that out.

LEE ISRAEL: How did you work it out?

SUBJECT: Just by saying, "This is silly." And I told her, "I'm not in love
with you. I love you. You're my friend." It would frequently come up. It was
not infrequent that she would have been drinking. It would be late at night,
by the nature of both our jobs, and some of the conversations were not as
coherent as I would have liked them to be. I'm having trouble interpreting
the questions.

LEE ISRAEL: She told friends—and their revelations put a new slant on
things—that she was having a relationship; and they took that to mean a
reciprocal relationship.

SUBJECT (laughing): After Salzburg, she-very early in our
relationship-indicated that there was love there. And I tried to direct that
love. Again, I come out smelling like a hero. And that's not the way it was.
It was silly for her, for me, for us, for anyone to indicate a romance in the
truer sense of the word. she did, in fact, go on dates when I had a date with
another person.

LEE ISRAEL: That had been my impression. I remember your telling me that
there were times when she, sadly, was a fifth wheel, and was aware of your
situation.

SUBJECT: There are several nights that stand out. And one was when she really
had to go to bed. First, she told me she had to get up in the morning very

[CTRL] Fwd: Clinton Admin. Refuses To Release China-Gate Docs

1999-05-03 Thread Kris Millegan

http://www.softwar.net/thenews.html

The Clinton administration has reneged on its agreement to
deliver CHINA-GATE documents in a Federal Court case in
Richmond, Virginia. On April 23, 1999, the DOJ attorney
representing Commerce promised to deliver a required index of
secret materials in a motion before Federal Judge Robert Payne,
requesting more time.

On April 29, 1999, the Dept. of Justice Attorney representing
the Commerce Dept. issued a notice to the Court that it has
withdrawn its motion to deliver a "Vaughn Index" or index of
classified documents that are being withheld. The DOJ attorney
claimed the index was rendered "moot" by the Judge's order for
the Commerce Dept. to deliver all the documents to him behind
closed doors ("in camera"), including a full explaination of why
each document should be withheld.

According to the motion from the Clinton administration, there
are now an unknown number of Commerce documents being withheld
from public release for unspecified reasons. The Commerce Dept.
now intends to withhold more information from the public than it
would normally release on an ordinary Freedom of Information Act
request. The move, if accepted, might effectively gut the
Freedom of Information Act, allowing agencies not to respond
even if taken to court.

However, the move by the Commerce Dept. was not un-expected.
Within hours of being notified, this reporter filed a
counter-motion with the Federal Court. This reporter had
previously requested the index of secret document, citing a
previous case that provides for the Commerce Dept. to provide
some explanation for the documents they are refusing to release.
According to the Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia
Circuit Vaughn v. Rosen, the defendant agency bears the burden
of sustaining its action of withholding records.

This reporter also protested the incomplete and shoddy job that
was done by the Commerce Dept. For example, one document
released in 1998 by the Commerce Dept. appears to be partially
withheld or lost this time around. The Commerce Dept. could
only find the second to last page of a nine page Defense Dept.
report, a list of the Chinese and American Directors of the high
tech fiber optic transfer to the PLA.

The list is topped by "Madam Nie Li" who was identified in a
Congressional Reporting Service Report as "Lt. General Nie Li"
of the People's Liberation Army (PLA). Madam General Nie is
also the wife of PLA spymaster, General Ding Henggao, former
commander of the Chinese Commission on Science, Technology and
Industry for National Defense (COSTIND).

This reporter can't be certain if the Judge is viewing the full
nine page DOD report behind closed doors. Without the "Vaughn"
index there is no way to be sure if the Commerce Dept. is
trying to classify documents already released.

Clearly, the Commerce Dept. did not inspect the SOFTWAR lawsuit
submitted in 1998. The entire DOD document was provided by this
reporter as evidence. Additional documents from the Commerce
Dept. supplied as evidence were also ignored.

For example, the Commerce Dept. has not supplied any information
on a 1994 meeting between Secretary Ron Brown, Loral CEO Bernard
Schwartz and Chinese General Shen of COSTIND. Commerce also has
not supplied information on the well documented meetings with
PLA missile engineers and U.S. space contractor Hughes.

However, above all, the Commerce Dept. forgot to include copies
of any pictures, videos or tape recordings taken at meetings
with the Chinese Army. According to one recently released
document supplied by the Commerce Dept., photographers from both
sides attended meetings between Chinese Army Generals and
Clinton administration officials.

The meeting was held in Beijing in August of 1994. The meeting
included a Major General who was also PLA Deputy Director of
Intelligence. The meeting also included Defense Secretary Perry
and PLA spymaster General Ding Henggao. General Ding is also
the husband of Lt. General "Madam" Nie Li, the Chinese co-chair
of the Hua Mei deal listed in the missing DOD document from
1996.

The two motions are now before Judge Robert Payne, who has the
all the secret Commerce documents that Commerce turned over on
April 23, 1999.

[CTRL] America, Haven for War Criminals

1999-05-03 Thread Das GOAT

 -Caveat Lector-

Alleged War Criminals in U.S.

BOSTON (AP) -- Alleged war criminals have found a safe haven in the United
States in recent years, under the noses of immigration officials and
sometimes with help from the U.S. government, The Boston Globe reported
today.

The newspaper said it found evidence that people from countries including
Haiti and El Salvador, and people involved in the breakup of Yugoslavia, have
settled in this country and begun new lives, despite evidence of their
involvement in serious human rights abuses.

The list includes three alleged participants in ethnic cleansing in
Yugoslavia; several former associates of Somali strongman Mohammed Siad
Barre; 16 Haitian military officers; and a Salvadoran general accused of
covering up the massacre of four American churchwomen in 1980, according to
the Globe.

``I was a member of the Haitian army high command,'' said Carl Dorelien, a
former head of personnel for the 7,000-member army that seized power from
President Jean-Bertrand Aristide in 1991 and killed as many as 4,000
civilians. ``I lived like a king in my country.''

Dorelien, who now lives in a resort community in Port St. Lucie, Fla., won
$3.2 million in a Florida lottery in 1997. At the time, lottery officials
described him as a penniless immigrant and political refugee.

But Dorelien says the U.S. military got him a five-year visa after the
corrupt Haitian army was forced from power in 1994 by 20,000 U.S. troops.
Fifteen other Haitian military officers have since joined him in the United
States and are living mainly in New York and Florida, he said.

Dan Cadman, chief of the Immigration and Naturalization Service's national
security unit, said his agency is concerned about the problem of human rights
offenders taking shelter here. But he said it is relatively rare.

``The concern is deep, but that doesn't necessarily suggest there is a
widespread problem,'' Cadman said.

The U.S. government has invested millions of dollars in a program to hunt
down Nazis who slipped into the country after World War II. But some human
rights monitors say more recent war criminals have been overlooked.

``It's in the thousands,'' said Gerald Gray, who last year founded the Center
for Justice and Accountability to track down human rights violators and bring
them to justice.

The San Francisco-based center has filed lawsuits against two alleged war
criminals -- a Bosnian Serb refugee living in Atlanta who allegedly tortured
prisoners and a former Chilean secret police officer living in Miami accused
of torturing and executing a former government official.

``It is really appalling to think that the United States has become the
retirement home of choice for murderers and despots,'' said William Ford, a
New York attorney whose sister Ita, a nun, was killed by members of the
Salvadoran National Guard.

THE COMING ARYAN MAFIA: A SOCIO-RACIAL FORECAST - PART ONE by Guillermo
Coletti. A re-print from WAR (White Aryan Resistance), Box 65,
Fallbrook, CA 92088. Website - www.resist.com

Introduction

I started writing this piece with the idea of explaining a phenomenon
that I think is going to be an important part of the future of America.
I believe that a new institution will rise, at a time not too distant
from now. That institution will be violent, racist, and for profit. In
order to better depict it's nature, I have called it the Aryan Mafia.

I believe the Aryan Mafia will take form, as much as I believe that
Mexicans will keep coming to the United States, people on welfare will
continue having illegitimate babies, Jews will make new movies and
California will have more earthquakes, after-shocks, and flooding. I
know that many traditional thinking, CONservative types and orthodox
right-wingers may find this idea abhorrent, and I can not argue with
that. This concept of the Aryan Mafia may indeed be abhorrent because it
will present us with attitudes and patterns of conduct that we have been
programmed to reject. Nevertheless, the statas quo may be just as
abhorrent. Additionally, I believe that the Aryan Mafia will get started
by a natural process of it's own. I think that nothing can be done to
precipitate it's formation, as I believe nothing can be done to prevent
it from happening. The Aryan Mafia is, in my observation, a certain
thing, just as ethnic strife in the Balkans was a certain thing for
syndicated columnist Pat Buchanan in the late 1980s, when he wrote that
now Yugoslavia was heading toward an ethnic civil war. In the old days,
there were men who forecasted the growth of the Sicilian Mafia in
America and it's impact on an already established way of life. The Aryan
Mafia will be the natural rejection of a dying racial body as it starts
showing strong vital signs. It will be rough and it will be criminal.
There will be winners and losers as well as innocent victims. Above all,
the Aryan Mafia will be a sign of it"s times. Like an irregular army, it
will have warlords and soldiers, performing tasks in a time of chaos and
having disregard for authority or any form of government representation.
It's members will favor ridiculously over-priced HKs, will drive
expensive American cars (Vipers, Corvettes, top-of-the-line Jeeps, etc:)
and will embrace White Power Rock 'n Roll with as much enthusiasm as
some minorities have already embraced Gangsta Rappers. In other words,
they will spend a great deal of their resources on self-indulgence like
the ancient Aryan warriors once did, and their female companions will
most probably be the most gorgeous women our race has to offer. They
will be young, strong, arrogant and they will have an unstoppable desire
to take the world by storm and make it theirs, the old-fashioned way,
with force. My opinion for this crescendo of Aryan crime can be
substantiated by current statistics which reflect that White crime is
the fastest rising crime in America. This growth will develop according
to the nature of the Aryan: at one point it will become orderly.

Putting this forecast in writing has proven to be a greater and more
time consuming effort than I had initially thought. Therefore, I have
decided to release partial chapters, as I approach a conclusion to this
socio-racial forecast.

America's Castes

America has been a caste society for quite a long time. There is,
however, no official document pronouncing America as a caste society
just as there is no document pronouncing America a democracy. On paper,
America is a republic and everybody is equal under the law, and we are
all one big happy family. In reality, we are not all equal under the law
as we are not all equal in the political arena. Then again, there is no
official document pronouncing Ted Turner more

Lobel and Ratner have litigated numerous cases challenging illegal wars
including Dellums v. Bush, the case that forced President Bush to obtain
congressional authority for the Gulf War in 1991. In a joint statement
released today, they said: "In a remarkable vote against the war in
Yugoslavia, the House of Representatives, by a vote of 213 to 213, failed to
give the President the constitutionally required authorization he needed to
carry on the air war against Yugoslavia. The Constitution grants Congress
the sole power to declare war. It must give its affirmative assent. It did
not do so. Contrary to the President's statement that he will continue this
war, he has no authority to do so. It would be a remarkable act of executive
hubris and illegal as well to continue the bombing. It is a serious
subversion of our constitutional structure (and is impeachable). His only
option is to end the aerial bombardment and negotiate a peaceful solution."

Children attacked by flesh-eating bacteria after taking medicine
ANDRE JURGENS

CHILDREN with chickenpox who are fed over-the-counter painkillers run
the risk of being infected by a deadly flesh-eating bacterium.

Doctors say the only way to treat the aggressive bacterium - which
dissolves human flesh - is by amputating infected limbs and treating
patients with antibiotics.

The dangerous link between household medication, chickenpox and the
bacterium was exposed in a medical alert to doctors this week.

"Virtually every child in the country will be exposed to chickenpox at
some or other time," said Dr Stephen Toovey of Medinfo, an organisation
run by South African doctors which monitors international medical trends
and research.

"This flesh-eating bug causes rapid tissue destruction, and entire limbs
can be lost within a matter of hours," he said.

"Amputation and a high dose of antibiotics offer the only hope of
survival."

His warning was triggered by the results of a recent study of children
who were hospitalised within three weeks of an attack of chickenpox in
the US.

Dr Danielle Zerr, of the Children's Hospital in Seattle, headed a team
of scientists who compared 19 children stricken with the bacterium with
29 control children. Those infected were 10 times more likely to have
been given ibuprofen as a painkiller.

Ibuprofen is sold under a number of brand names in South Africa,
including Brufen and Nurofen.

However, the study found that children given paracetamol were not
infected.

"In the light of these findings it would be prudent to avoid Ibuprofen
and other anti-inflammatories in children suffering from chickenpox,"
said Toovey.

"Paracetamol is equally effective at relieving pain and fever and
appears to be safer in this condition," he said. Paracetamol is
available locally as Panado, Calpol and Fevambol.

The bacterium - officially known as necrotising fasciitis - enters the
body through tiny openings or cuts in the skin and can be lethal if not
quickly diagnosed. It is an infection which comes from the same family
of bacteria that causes common strep throat.

Aching pain, nausea and swollen rashes usually appear within 24 hours of
infection.

Critical symptoms, including a severe drop in blood pressure as the body
goes into shock, develop within four days.

According to the Biological Committee for the Medicines Control Council,
there is no chickenpox vaccine in South Africa, although one has been
submitted for registration.

[CTRL] Kosovo Recap (fwd)

1999-05-03 Thread Brian Redman

 -Caveat Lector-

KOSOVO RECAP

(CNNS, 05/03/99) -- In case you are tuning in late, here is our
story thus far . . . .

** August 1995: As many as 500,000 ethnic Serbs were brutally
driven from Croatia. Many of these Serbs "fell prey to the
depredations of merciless paramilitary death squads, who
committed hideous acts of plunder, rape, and mass murder." [1]
This Croatian military campaign of "ethnic cleansing" was
*assisted* -- not challenged -- by NATO. Also helping the Croats
was Military Professional Resources Incorporated (MPRI), "a
private military and intelligence consulting firm based in
Virginia..." [2]

** February 1996: George Soros, international financial gambler
and responsible, many believe, for ruining several Asian
currencies, learns that Serbia has annulled his financial front,
the Soros Fund, in their country. The Serbian Supreme Court
rules that the Soros Fund can no longer operate in Yugoslavia.
[3] Is Soros connected in some way with Kissinger Associates?

** October 1998: "Upon the talks of Yugoslav President Slobodan
Milosevic with special American envoy Richard Holbrooke, in
October 1998, and upon the agreement to resolve the problems in
Kosovo and Metohia in a peaceful way and by political means, the
Serbian government adopted on October 13, Principles for
Political Solution of Problems in Kosovo and Metohia." [4].
Might there have been peace? Perhaps, except that the Kosovo
Liberation Army (KLA) thereupon began a terror campaign, randomly
attacking, wounding and killing Serb policemen. [5]. The KLA,
"which the Clinton administration has embraced and some members
of Congress want to arm as part of the NATO bombing campaign, is
a terrorist organization that has financed much of its war effort
with profits from the sale of heroin," says an article in today's
Washington Times newspaper. [6]. (Note to Dan "Sleepy" Rather:
Wake up and smell the coffee; there's a story here.) Following
the KLA's terror campaign against Serb police, the police
naturally launch a counter-attack against the KLA. *At that
point*, a propaganda assault by KLA, who were in turn helped by a
Washington, DC media consulting firm, succeeded in demonizing the
Serbs, at least in the minds of many.

** January 1999: News of a so-called "Racak Massacre" explodes.
But the purported Racak Massacre turns out to have been a fake, a
set-up, staged for an either gullible or even complicit mass
media. (See CNNS 03/25/99, "Kosovo Drugs Target 'Christian
Infidels.'") Yet the "Racak Massacre" serves the purpose of
igniting war hysteria. The question to be asked is, Are Clinton,
Cohen and Albright possibly so gullible that they bought the
"Racak Massacre" story hook, line and sinker? Can the elite
White House trio really be that gullible? A scarey thought.

** March 1999: U.S. Secretary of State Madeleine Albright tries
to "negotiate" the Rambouillet Agreement. Albright's methods of
"negotiation" are Neanderthal: "Sign it, or we'll bomb the sh**
out of you." Don Feder, writing in the Boston Herald newspaper,
compares Albright's "diplomacy" to that of a Mafia chieftain:
"Doing a bad imitation of Vito Corleone at Rambouillet, Albright
told the Serbs she would have either their signatures or their
brains on the peace accord." [7] But the Serbs will not
surrender their homeland, so on March 24, 1999, NATO begins a
"rain of terror," bombing Yugoslavia. The NATO operation, called
"Operation Allied Force," has the apt initials O-A-F, notes
journalist John McLaughlin.

** April 1999: Reverse speech analysis by David Oates reveals
Bill Clinton saying as follows: "There's famine down the way /
Elf bomb Serb." It turns out, a month later, that famine is
indeed imminent in Kosovo. As to "Elf bombs," this may signify
high-tech electromagnetic frequency weaponry of some type. A
reader has contacted CNNS and offered the following information:

The NATO must get a better light in the world. This can be
only with HIGH TECH! From Feb.99 to April.99, 14
  satellites go into orbit.Official
communication-satellites, but is it real? It can be
microwave-weapons which can make an earthquake.

** May 1999: Newsweek set to report on imminent famine in
Kosovo. Crisis in Albanian refugee camps. Can Albanians really
return safely to their homeland, now that Depleted Uranium
weapons have possibly contaminated the region? What "homes" do
these refugees now have to go back to? Mirjana Markovic, wife of
Serb president Slobodan Milosevic, grants interview to "Sleepy

# Energy, Physics, and Soda Pop. BETHESDA, Maryland -- David Wallman deftly
slides the dark glass shield into place in front of his carbon-arc machine
and tells his audience to step away. "Don't look directly at it from the
side," Wallman warns. He flips a switch. The light is blinding. The machine
begins to bubble and froth as 40 amps of current leap the gap between two
carbon rods and electrify the sugar water that fills the tank. Those very
special bubbles -- Wallman calls them carbo-hydrogen gas -- will, he hopes,
change the world. http://www.wired.com/news/news/technology/story/19446.html

# Children attacked by flesh-eating bacteria after taking medicine.
CHILDREN with chickenpox who are fed over-the-counter painkillers run the
risk of being infected by a deadly flesh-eating bacterium. Doctors say the
only way to treat the aggressive bacterium - which dissolves human flesh -
is by amputating infected limbs and treating patients with antibiotics. The
dangerous link between household medication, chickenpox and the bacterium
was exposed in a medical alert to South African doctors this week.

*** Scientists spot possible moon bases. WASHINGTON (AP) On Earth, the south
pole may well be the worst place to live, but that region of the Moon could
be the best choice for future bases. Three sites, located near the Moon's
south pole, provide nearly constant sunlight. Having nearly constant light
means the bases could use solar energy, reducing or eliminating the need for
other energy sources. In addition to the energy potential of the sites in
the sun, there are nearby sites that are in constant darkness. There is the
possibility that water and ice could be hidden in such locations. See

*** Taiwan to auction 'lucky' numbers. TAIPEI, Taiwan (AP) In the tradition
of vanity license plates and personalized e-mail addresses, Taiwanese will
soon be able to bid on mobile phone numbers are considered lucky. Dozens of
numbers considered especially auspicious will go on the block later this
month, with bidding expected up into tens of thousands of Taiwan dollars,
Chunghwa Telecom Co. said. Chunghwa has been hoarding the numbers for years.
The company was encouraged by a preliminary auction last month which drew a
top price of 80,000 Taiwan dollars (US$2,424) for the number 456789. That
represents, in traditional thinking, ever-increasing success in business.

Masonic building after a tip-off that it was being used as a temple for
Satanists. There was pandamonium in Kabwe town when the alleged Satanists
were taken to the police station as enraged Christian sysmpathisers wanted
to lynch them right there and then. Police had to protect the 'Satanists' by
firing in the air and firing tear-gas canisters into the milling, hostile

[CTRL] US greens want beefed-up UN (BBC)

1999-05-03 Thread Robert Tatman

 -Caveat Lector-

http://news.bbc.co.uk/hi/english/sci/tech/newsid_332000/332748.stm

US greens want beefed-up UN
By Environment Correspondent Alex Kirby
The Worldwatch Institute says the unfolding humanitarian disaster in the
Balkans has exposed the inadequacies of international attempts to keep the
peace.

The Institute, an environmental research group based in Washington DC, says
the Balkan conflict dramatises "the need for an entirely new approach to
security policy in the post-Cold War world".

An Institute report, "Ending Violent Conflict", says 110 million people have
died in wars this century.

It says that is three times as many people as died in all the wars between the
first century AD and 1899.

Most wars in the last half century have been internal ones: in the last
decade, 97 out of 103 armed conflicts were internal.

Since 1945, civilians have accounted for 70% of all war casualties, with the
figure rising to more than 90% in the 1990s.

Disarmament and mediation

Given this change in the nature of conflict, the report argues for a
combination of approaches:

Seeking disarmament

Promoting conflict prevention and mediation

Establishing permanent peacekeeping forces

Protecting human rights

Prosecuting war crimes

Revitalising global institutions like the United Nations and the World Court
But it says these measures need to be linked to a broader human security
agenda which recognises the underlying causes of conflict - poverty,
inequality, ethnic tensions, population growth and environmental damage.

The report says pointedly: "Military means are usually inappropriate for
humanitarian action and largely irrelevant for peacemaking efforts.

"They absorb resources that could be better used for conflict prevention."

Prevention better than cure

Although it is often hard to prevent conflict, it is very much harder to end
fighting once large-scale bloodshed has happened.

So the report's author, Michael Renner, calls for investment in an array of
preventive mechanisms.

These include building early conflict detection networks; setting up an
international corps of skilled roving mediators; and positioning peacekeeping
forces between opposing sides.

Unequal distribution

More fundamentally, he says, preventing conflicts is about recognising and
tackling the pressures that lead to violence, from unequal wealth distribution
to environmental degradation.

Mr Renner says non-governmental organisations have achieved some notable
recent successes, with the adoption of treaties to outlaw anti-personnel
landmines and to establish an international criminal court.

They are now working to launch a campaign against small-arms proliferation,
and to move towards the abolition of nuclear weapons.

He says weapons spread indiscriminately across the planet during the Cold War
are military leftovers, "a source of cheap and easily available arms tempting
people to rely on violence to resolve conflicts".

And he says the growing integration of the global economy will not necessarily
lead to more international co-operation.

"Globalisation itself carries the potential for tension and conflict, because
the benefits and burdens are distributed in such spectacularly uneven
fashion."

[CTRL] Wellstone Proposal

Wellstone Proposes Conditional Pause In NATO Bombings To Bolster Diplomatic
Effort

WASHINGTON - May 3 - Senator Paul Wellstone called today for NATO to
consider a brief, conditional and verifiable halt to the air campaign
against Yugoslavia in order to improve the environment for diplomatic
discussions now underway. In a speech to the Senate proposing the idea,
Wellstone condemned the atrocities and ethnic cleansing committed against
innocent Kosovars by the Milosevic regime. He stressed that any plan for a
bombing halt would have to be linked to the assured safety of NATO troops,
and to immediate, reciprocal action by Serbian forces, including stopping
their attacks on Kosovar civilians and beginning their withdrawal from
Kosovo. Wellstone also expressed support for Russian engagement in
negotiations to end the crisis, and greater U.S. humanitarian aid for the
refugees.

"I voted, six weeks ago, to authorize the United States participation in the
NATO bombing of Yugoslavia. I did so because it was my judgment that we had
exhausted every diplomatic possibility, and that our best and most credible
information was that without NATO military action, a humanitarian disaster
was beginning to occur. I had no doubt about the wisdom and correctness of
our decision. My rationale for supporting the airstrikes was a simple one:
inaction in the face of unspeakable, imminent, and preventable violence,
including horrific atrocities that continue even now, was absolutely
unacceptable. In short, the slaughter must be stopped. I have no regrets
about that decision," Wellstone said.

"I think it's time for all the parties to consider a brief and verifiable
time-out before we proceed further down the slippery slope of further
military action, and before it's too late to turn back. With former Russian
Prime Minister Chernomyrdin and the President talking today, what I am
proposing for consideration--if it can be worked out in a way which would
protect NATO troops, and would not risk Serb resupply of their war
machine--is a brief and verifiable halt in the bombing, a cessation of what
seems to be a slide toward the bombing of a broader array of non-military
targets, a potential oil embargo directed at other countries, and deeper
involvement in a wider war that I believe we could come to regret."

"I am not naive about whether we can trust Milosevic; we have seen him break
his word too many times for that. Nor am I proposing an open-ended halt in
our effort. But rather a temporary pause of 48 hours or so, offered on
condition that Milosevic not be allowed to use the period to resupply troops
or to repair his air defenses, and that he immediately orders his forces in
Kosovo to halt their attacks and begin to actually withdraw. It would not
require his formal prior assent to each of these conditions, but if our
intelligence and other means of verification concludes that he is taking
military advantage of such a pause by doing any of these things, then we
should resume the bombing. I believe that we may need to take the first
step, a gesture, in the effort to bring these horrors to an end."

"Such a pause may well be worthwhile; if it works to prompt a cessation of
the ethnic cleansing and a return of Serb forces to their garrisons, it may
create the conditions for the possibility of further talks on the conditions
under which NATO's longer-term goals, which I support, can be met."

"A brief cessation might also enable non-governmental organizations and
other `true neutrals' in the conflict to airlift or truck in, and then
distribute, relief supplies to the internally-displaced Kosovars who are
homeless and starving in the mountains of Kosovo, without the threat of this
humanitarian mission being halted by the Serbian military. A Serb guarantee
of their safe conduct would be an important reciprocal gesture on the part
of Milosevic. These people must be rescued, and my hope is that a temporary
bombing pause might help to enable aid organizations to get to them."

"For fifty years, we have spent the blood and treasure of Americans and
Europeans to help provide for a stable, peaceful Europe. I believe we must
again work with the Europeans -- and now with the Russians and others who
have historic ties to the Serbs -- to try to resolve this crisis before the
flames of war in Kosovo and of the refugee exodus which it has prompted
consume the region. Stepped-up diplomacy, a possible pause in the
airstrikes, and other similar efforts to bring a peaceful and just end to
this crisis should be pursued right now," Wellstone said.

[CTRL] A Modest Proposal

1999-05-03 Thread Robert Tatman

 -Caveat Lector-

At the risk of being massively flamed, I am compelled by a sense of
intellectual honesty to propose that the time has come to repeal the Second
Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.

What is at issue is not some supposed innate right to keep and bear arms. What
is at issue is the culture of violence that puts firearms on a pedestal and
worships them. What is at issue is the culture of violence that insists on
"getting even" instead of resolving conflicts. Two hundred years ago, it might
have been possible to defend yourself against an oppressive government by
shooting the excise agent. But that just isn't possible today--nor is it
desirable. The world is too complex a place today, and the weapons at the
government's disposal too powerful, for so simplistic a solution to work.

You have no more right to keep and bear arms than you have to own and operate
an automobile. All property "rights" are contingent on the permission of the
state; the state grants such rights, and the state can take away those rights
if circumstances warrant. I submit that the time has come when we, as a
society, can no longer afford to permit individuals to own and use firearms.
Further, I submit that firearms manufacturers are primarily responsible for
the *illegal* sale of firearms, and should therefore be subjected to stringent
governmental regulation and limited to production of firearms for the armed
services of the United States.

If the gun lobby insists on labeling this proposal as a conspiracy to
undermine citizens' "rights," I will respond by suggesting that the gun lobby
itself is part of an elaborate conspiracy to undermine the lawful authority of
the United States government, substituting the rule of force for the rule of
law. Surely, if a secret supranational organization such as the Illuminati
really exists, whose objective is to submerge all national identities in a
global culture, eliminating national governments in favor of a strengthened
United Nations, then they would choose to work *not* through the Federal
government...but through organizations and individuals who want to weaken the
U.S. government to the point where it effectively no longer exists. Such a
conspiracy would be much more likely to use a group like the NRA or the
Libertarian Party than the FBI or the BATF as its instrument.

Let me repeat my proposal: the time has come to repeal the Second Amendment to
the United States Constitution. Doing so would demonstrate more clearly than
any other possible action that the people of the United States have genuinely
grown up, that we are now mature enough that we do not need the crutch of
firearms to maintain our self-esteem.

Re: [CTRL] Flaw in Capitalist system

1999-05-03 Thread philately

 -Caveat Lector-

"The idea of 'free contract' between the potentate
and his starving subject is a sick joke..."

http://www.zmag.org/chomsky/interviews/9612-anarchism.html

Interview: "Noam Chomsky on Anarchism"
by Tom Lane, December 23, 1996

snip

5. Many "anarcho-capitalists" claim that anarchism means
the freedom to do what you want with your property and
engage in free contract with others. Is capitalism in
any way compatible with anarchism as you see it?

Anarcho-capitalism, in my opinion, is a doctrinal
system which, if ever implemented, would lead to
forms of tyranny and oppression that have few
counterparts in human history. There isn't the
slightest possibility that its (in my view,
horrendous) ideas would be implemented, because
they would quickly destroy any society that made
this colossal error. The idea of "free contract"
between the potentate and his starving subject
is a sick joke, perhaps worth some moments in
an academic seminar exploring the consequences
of (in my view, absurd) ideas, but nowhere else.

I should add, however, that I find myself in
substantial agreement with people who consider
themselves anarcho-capitalists on a whole range
of issues; and for some years, was able to write
only in their journals. And I also admire their
commitment to rationality -- which is rare --
though I do not think they see the consequences
of the doctrines they espouse, or their profound
moral failings.

This has been an interesting discussion. I doubt we're going to find ourselves
all simultaneously agreeing to one single perfect economic solution anytime
soon, but I think it's very important to discuss this type of thing along with
the various other abuses and manipulations of power discussed on CTRL.
Disagreements aside, how can we expect to actually have a positive impact on
the status quo unless we mentally hack the system, as well as our own
preconceptions?

When I said "slightly mixed," I wasn't trying to deny that we live in Babylon,
and that we cannot escape Babylon's grip (Babylon as a metaphorical
representation of the United States). You cannot operate a "business" of any
substantial sort without entangling yourself with the government, and you
cannot gain employment legally without paying taxes, which go to support all
sorts of nasty stuff that people generally wouldn't approve of if they
realized what was actually going on.

The question is, are you one of the few who the system is built to serve, or
are you one of the rabble which the system feeds upon? I guess that's what I
meant by "slightly mixed," in the sense (quoth Noam Chomsky) that we have in
effect a form of state socialism for the rich, with free markets reserved for
the poor. Those who are able to claw their way out of the free market and gain
entry to the "top of the pyramid club" will, on the way, learn all the
bloodthirsty tricks necessary to maintain their prosperous new positions. The
social rot begins to smell like roses; decay becomes new growth; crisis
becomes opportunity. Corporate execs draw $250,000 paychecks with $100,000
bonuses on a bad year (and blow every dime of it, saving surprisingly little),
while the kids in the public housing project down the road have to put plywood
over their windows because all the glass has been broken out.

But the system (any mass system) is perpetuated by building a conceptual "box"
(laws, regulations, social controls, etc.), then tricking and/or forcing as
many people as possible to stay within the box. Automatically the perpetuation
of this system becomes its primary occupation; that's a given. There is no
system that can be built which will be able to withstand the probing of those
who seek to use it to their own advantage.

Maybe the revolution will come one day, but even if it did, would anything new
really come along? The real revolution is within each of us -- the systematic
individual process of eliminating one's own contradictions, false values and
preconceptions. We have been conditioned since birth in a rancid sea of lies,
contradictory messages, dead ends, and greed-inspired motivations. We must
deprogram ourselves, dig deep into our own souls, and determine what exactly
it is we want to do in these 70-some-odd years that most of us are given on
this earth. Only when we have cleansed ourselves of

Energy, Physics, and Soda Pop

by Declan McCullagh

3:00 a.m. 3.May.99.PDT

BETHESDA, Maryland -- David Wallman deftly slides the dark glass shield
into place in front of his carbon-arc machine and tells his audience to step
away. "Don't look directly at it from the side," Wallman warns.

He flips a switch. The light is blinding. The machine begins to bubble and
froth as 40 amps of current leap the gap between two carbon rods and
electrify the sugar water that fills the tank.

Those very special bubbles -- Wallman calls them carbo-hydrogen gas --
will, he hopes, change the world.

When burned, the gas produces much less pollution than gasoline, and it
may prove cheaper to manufacture. The former Hewlett-Packard electrical
engineer rattles off a laundry list of possible uses by consumers and
industry. A clean new fuel for cars. Revolutionary power generation. A
supplement to solar panels for remote homesteaders.

But the most intriguing result of Wallman's demonstration is that it seems to
violate the laws of physics by generating more energy than it consumes.

As any college chemistry student knows, that should be impossible. Your
car's internal combustion engine wastes about three-quarters of the energy
in the fuel it burns when you drive down the road. And it guzzles even more
when you step on the gas. It never, ever creates more energy.

If Wallman's calculations are correct, the only explanation is that some form
of a small-scale nuclear reaction is taking place inside that bubbling tank.

Serious scientists have admitted they can't explain the results in any other
way, especially the presence of helium in the gas -- an element that didn't
exist in the sugar-water solution. If it works, Wallman's process would not
quite be cold fusion, since the temperatures in that brilliant carbon arc
reach 7,200° F. Perhaps it's cool fusion instead.

Wallman is one of a legion of garage researchers who gathered Saturday
in a ramshackle Holiday Inn in Bethesda, Maryland, at the first Conference
on Future Energy. Some presenters are careful engineers hoping to attract
investors. Others ooze the unwholesome patina of snake-oil salesman
hoping to make a fast buck. Cold fusion advocates hope vindication is
finally about to arrive. All believe the media, government, and academia
ignore, either accidentally or deliberately, honest-to-goodness scientific
advances.

Paul Pantone is more convinced than most. During his presentation he
drops hints of a tenebrous conspiracy that has barred him from marketing a
revolutionary power source that looks just like a metal doughnut wrapped in
black electrical tape.

It can power a normal light bulb using "the energy around us," Pantone
says, but "there's a specific pattern of north-south" with which it must be
aligned. If there's anyone in the audience who wants to sign up as
distributors, Pantone seems willing to talk. But there's a catch: To sell this
new power source, you first have to sign up as a distributor and sell other
Pantone products until it becomes available.

The other products? Well, there's Pantone's GEET engine. He says it runs
off "junk fuel" -- various slurries of paint thinner, crude oil, gasoline, Sprite,
or Mountain Dew. If you yank your carburetor and replace it with a GEET
device, you may double your car's gas mileage, he says.

With the fervor of a reborn religious leader, Pantone denounces the powers
that be that bar him from spreading the gospel of GEET beyond lectures at
public schools near his Salt Lake City home.

"In the Christian community, you know what? They welcome you," Pantone
says.

Someone who has followed Pantone's US$75 step-by-step conversion
instructions has wheeled their GEETized lawnmower into the small hotel
conference room. Copper tubing races crazily around the engine, dips into
the exhaust pipe, and ends in a Mason jar stuffed with steel wool and
gasoline. Pantone claims the hot exhaust creates a magnetic field and a
"plasma reaction" that eliminates pollution.

He asks his wife Molley to explain the details of his discovery. She
volunteers that she took a college-level physics class and received a C+.
Then she realized that everything she learned was upside down. "These
laws that are in our physics books are truly wrong," she says.

The audience is suitably impressed. "I am in awe!" one person exclaims.

Pantone stresses the virtues of his ostensibly pollution-free contraption.
"We've got some vehicles where we have cleaner exhaust than the air
around the vehicle," Pantone brags.

Then comes the demonstration. The lawnmower rattles and roars to life,
belching fumes into the enclosed space. Mountain Dew is poured into the
Mason jar, and the beleaguered motor splutters but keeps on running. The
stench worsens, and some people cough and leave the room.

Much of the audience, though, is undeterred. They gather around the
stinking, wheezing mower and stare at it as if it were an alien artifact
recently recovered from Area

[CTRL] Electromagnetic Bomb Used in Belgrade?

1999-05-03 Thread Steve Wingate

 -Caveat Lector-

A Pentagon spokesman said today that the weapon used to attack the
electric facilities in Belgrade is "highly classified" and capable of
disorienting the computer systems and electronic equipment.

A CNN reporter said the bomb exploded *above* the electrical facility and
then began shorting the facility.

This was almost certainly an electromagnetic bomb.

Re: [CTRL] [[CTRL] A Modest Proposal]

Robert Tatman [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote:

 Bob

Personally, I feel it would be a waste of my time to devote the time and energy that
is necessary to properly convey how your proposal dissgusts me. So what I will say is
this, I hope that you remember your decision if
we are deprived of our right to defend ourselves against tyranny. In the remaining
part of this year, and the next 3 or 4, you will see the error of this ignorance.
