Hi Sekhar,
Thanks.I traced down the error to a network related issue, which
causes a connection disruption frequently.
There are no errors in an isolated, small network.

This means that the driver is unable to send packets out
for some reason and so is running out of transmit BDs.

Are you running on an half-duplex network? Can you dump the
EMAC stat registers to see if anything stands out?

Thanks,

DM6467 McASP Frame Sync

2010-07-27 Thread Jaya krishnan

Hi
We have some design issues with interfacing DM6467 McASP to a third party
DAC.(CS4353- A paasive DAC with stereo output)
We actually tried to replace AIC33 with CS4353. In the board which uses
AIC33 , McASP is receiving Serial clk and FS from AIC33.
But in our board, we can't provide Serial clk and FS from DAC and hence McASP
gives FS to DAC . Serial clock is provided by
a CDCE949 clk synthesizer. (I have attached the connection diagram).
The problem is , the FS generated by McASP is governed by the follwoing
relationship
FS= Serial clk/(slot size * No of Slots)
I have given serial clk=256KHz, slot size=32, I2S and FS=4KHz. And I get the
output quite normally.
I am confused in this.
1) How can a data (speech )sampled at 8KHz, 16 bit sample width plays
normally at FS= 4KHz?
If I change the slot size to 16 bit , FS becomes 8 KHz, and the audio
plays at double speed.
2) Why is it like that?
Pls help

2010-07-27 Thread Jaya krishnan

Hi Steve,
As you said, DMA was tranferring two samples to transmit buffer register
when the slot size was configured to 16. When I changed
it to one sample (i.e.,16 bit) it worked, and now the FS= 8KHz. Thanks a lot
!

As you point out, at FS=4kHz, serial clock is 256KHz which provide
enough cycles to shift out 8Kb/s of data.

If I change the slot size to 16 bit , FS becomes 8 KHz, and the audio
 plays at double speed.
 2) Why is it like that?

May want to check out the DMA settings. I suspect DMA engine is still
grabbing 32 bits at a time but at double speed.

Steve

DM6467 EDMA channel conflict

2010-07-07 Thread Jaya krishnan
I want to use DM6467 EDMA to transfer frame data from PCI memory to
DDR2. I am using the PCI Boot Driver from TI.
My application uses arch/arm/mach-davinci/dma.c driver for allocating
EDMA channels. Since the EDMA channels are controlled by
two drivers, there is a chance of conflict. Is there a way in the
arch/arm/mach-davinci/dma.c to exclude some channel/channels
from being dynamically allocated?, So that channel can be safely used by
the PCI boot driver. Kindly suggest.

JK

DM6467 McASP Related

2010-07-01 Thread Jaya krishnan
Hi

I have to design an audio system where DM6467 McASP is the Master (Providing
frame sync and data) to a passive, oversampled DAC(CS4353, Cirrus Logic).
The serial clock is provided by CDCE949. McASP frame sync (for Tx) depends
on
1) Serial Clock (SCLK)
2) No of slots/Frame
3) Slot size.
2 3 can be programmed thru McASP registers, and serial clock is fixed.
Currently SCLK =256KHz, no of slots=2 (I2S), slot size= 32 bits.
In this case frame Sync is 4 KHz. Surprisingly, the DAC gives output for a
stream originally sampled at 8 KHz, 16 bit/Sample.
When I increase the frame sync to 8 KHz, by making slot size=16, the play
back is not normal (plays at double speed).
Why is it so?
I get some noise with the audio , when the frame sync is at 4 KHz.
How, in an audio system based on DM6467 , similar to the above , can
support streams with multiple sampling rates?
Is there any problem with the DAC I am using? How DM6467-AIC33 combination
is able support various sample rates?

Regards
JK

DM6467 PCI driver insertion after DSP warm Reset

2010-06-25 Thread Jaya krishnan

Hi

I want to use warm reset (active low RESET) of DM6467 which is a PCI
device for a PPC host.
I am able to insert the PCI boot driver after a power on reset. But
when I try to do it after a warm reset, it fails.
I checked and ensured that PCI config registers are not modified
after warm reset.
The error is, when the driver tries to access pci registers (DM6467
internal), it hangs.
MMR registers are mapped to correct value. Any suggestions?

Vaibhav,
The issue is solved now. McASP1 was turned off in the power and sleep
 controller.
It started working after I enabled it.

Title: RE: DM6467 McASP : unable to set GBLCTL for port1

Jayakrishnan,

You need to check whether path for AUDIO_CLK1 is set up properly (CLKCTL and
PINMUX0 registers). Please refer to the TRM for these registers.

If port 0 is also not working then you could check the AUXCLK generated from
the PLL by attaching a probe to the CLKOUT pin available.

With the settings I mentioned, the execution goes into infinite while loop,

How to check the AUXCLK input to McASP1?

With the register config as you mentioned, what do you observe when you try to
write to XHCLKRST bit followed by a write to XCLKRST bit in GBLCTL?

Also, please verify that AUXCLK is coming in to McASP1. If not, you need to
check whether there in any additional PLL setting required for this.

Jayakrishnan,

The bit field in GBLCTL register that you are trying to set is synchronized and
latched by the corresponding clock(ACLKX in your case).

Since you want to use AHCLKX1 as master clk for another device I suspect the
ACLKX is not already running. If you don't have ACLKX externally generated you
need to select the internal clk source in ACLKXCTL (and possibly even in
AHCLKXCTL - depends on the use case) before GBLCTL is programmed.

Title: RE: DM6467 McASP

Jayakrishnan,

The McASP transmit bit clock, ACLKX can be either externally sourced or
internally generated.

In case ALCLKX is internally generated from AUXCLK, then you have the option of
sending the intermediate high frequency master clock (AHCLKX) to the AHCLKX pin
to be used by other devices in the system. In such a situation you don't need
to use the 2nd McASP just for generating AHCLKX.

However, if your use-case needs two McASPs that can also be done as both can be
used simultaneously.

Re: DM6467 component out-NO SYNC

2010-02-04 Thread Jaya krishnan
Yes. Dumped streams work correctly on software palyers. Also ffmpeg is able to
convert it to avi file.
I am using component mode in display, which works well for other
streams. It seems the VPIF is not able to output proper BT1120 streams, and
hence this artifact. But what causes this , is intriguing, as other streams
of same resolution (704x480) is displayed correctly.
There is no issue with the decoder.(I am using TI's multichannel decoder).

JK

Hi,

Are you saying Dumped decoded streams works correctly on software players? If
it works, I think there is some timing parameters mismatch.

Which mode are you using for the display? Does your TV support the mode you are
trying to display?

Thanks,

DMAI video_decode_io2 application

2009-10-27 Thread Jaya krishnan
In the DMAI 1.10 reference application for video_decode_io2, can somebody
tell me the command line usage for H.264 decoder?
For example, I want to decode an H.264 encoded file , say dust.264, I
tried the following option, but not working
./video_decode_io2_dm6467.x470MV-c h264dec -i dust.264

Yes. That would be fine.
New BusyBox V 1.1.3
Old one BusyBox V1.13.4 (Which causes problem)

Yes, that happened to us also... the busybox insmod is *very* picky.
Try using the full path to the module with the same
 parameters you listed..
 \

 I.E:
 insmod /full_path_to/cmemk.ko \
   phys_start=0x8500 phys_end=0x8aa0
 pools=5x4697152,64x718848

I#39;ll blame the busybox sh, since I#39;ve had bad experience with it, and
because your original email showed something strange:
 cmemk: Unknown parameter `phys_start#39;
Note the double quote before phys_start, it#39;s inside the single quotes,
which tells me that#39;s what insmod is getting.

a wild guess, are you sure it#39;s not some weird charset error that makes the

Your nfshost is 172.16.1.244, according to the bootargs, but the message
says it is trying 172.16.1.102. Don't know why.
When you used nfs for downloading, did you note the ip addresses?
Anyway try these also:
1. Use the same server for both tftp and nfs
2. Change the ipaddress of the board.

Title : FW: DM6467 EVM SW3 settings for PCI boot

Jaya,

The docs are amazingly confusing on the way these switches map to the
polarity of signals. They use all the terms on/off, up/down, 0/1 instead
of making things easy and clear... I spent a day messing around with this
before finally getting it to work.

If you look at the EVM technical ref page 3-29, you#39;ll see the table of
settings for SW3. You#39;ll notice the polarity of the switch bits and the
pins are reversed; this means that TO MAKE A BIT A LOGICAL 1, THE SWITCH
NEEDS TO BE IN THE DOWN POSITION. The down position means the little white
switch is on the side where the little numbers (1-8) are labeled on the
switch casing, the LEFT if you have the board oriented so that you can read
the SW3 label underneath the switch (long way up with the RJ45 on the
right side).

So, for example, to do PCI with no auto init, switches 1-4 (using the little
numbers on the side of the switch casing to index switches) corresponding to
the BM bits should look like this (where X is the white switch, and
_ is blank space

1. X _ (LEFT = DOWN = PIN VALUE 1)
2. _ X (RIGHT = UP = PIN VALUE 0)
3. X _ (LEFT = DOWN = PIN VALUE 1)
4. X _ (LEFT = DOWN = PIN VALUE 1)

By the way, we have the other switches as follows:

5. LEFT
6. LEFT
7. LEFT
8. RIGHT

With the switches set this way, and external 5V power disconnected, and
board in PCI slot, I was able to bring up my Fedora box and then do lspci
and see the TI board enumerated as a PCI device.

I am still working on getting the actual booting working, but am almost
there...

Steve

You mention you#39;re building an ARM application, but the build looks like
it#39;s building a DSP-side server.

If you _are_ building an ARM app, it#39;s wrong that the ti.sdo.ce.osal.bios
package is coming into the picture at all. You might double check that your
ARM-side app#39;s config script is configuring the OSAL correctly. For a
multicore device like DM6467, it should be something like:

=
/*
 * Example .cfg snippet for ARM-side Linux app with remote algs
 * (OSAL = Linux, IPC = Link)
 */
var osalGlobal = xdc.useModule(#39;ti.sdo.ce.osal.Global#39;);
osalGlobal.runtimeEnv = osalGlobal.DSPLINK_LINUX;
=

Title : Unable to change cache size in codec engine.

Hello ,
I am trying to build an application to encode video in mpeg4 format
and also integrate the scale example from the codec engine in the
encode combo server. During the integration fro performance reasons I
want to increase the L2 cache size from 64k to 128k. My processor is
tms320dm6446.
On building the codec_server I get the error:

Muneendra,
A request: pls keep everyone in the loop while posting messages.
You can get the flash memory content info by typing flinfo at the U
Boot prompt.
The U-Boot code and data are stored
in the first five sectors, starting at 0x200. Note that the trailing (RO)
indicates that the sectors are read-only or protected from erasing and
writing. The Linux kernel image should be saved to the 0x2050 location, the
first free sector after U-Boot.

Best Wishes
Jayakrishnan

Just a doubt. Did you check your target memory map? Since the Kernel
  sizes may vary,
it is possible that the Kernel and filesystem (ramdisk, for example) may
  overlap in memory.

Abhishek,
You don't need to connect two hosts to the DVEVM. You develop the algorithm
in CCS, debug, optimize, make it xDM compliant and produce a library file. The
rest of the development work is done on Linux host.
Pls go through an earlier post http://www.mail-archive.com/davinci-linux-open-source@linux.davincidsp.com/msg01049.html
You may also go through several TI documents such as Algorithm creator
user's guide,
Server Integartor user's guide and Algorithm development user's guide.

I need some help in figuring out how to implement a video-processing algorithm on ARM+DSP system.
From various sources, I am able to understand that first I need to develop the code on DSP because real-time execution can be achieved only on DSP (using code composer studio). I need to work on Windows host for this work. Then, I need to package up the code, i.e. write C/C++ wrappers so that it can be loaded and executed from ARM running linux. Again, this development work needs to be done on Linux host. So, in the end I will need to connect both the hosts to the EVM, windows host through JTAG emulator and serial port and Linux host through Ethernet.

Also, there are no reference frameworks available for DaVinci Processors.
So, I was wondering if you guys can let me know if this would be the best approach in implementing the video processing algorithm on DM 6467 EVM. Or, is there any other better way I should opt for.

 Thanks for the help.
Regards,
-- Abhishek

Muneendra,
Just a doubt. Did you check your target memory map? Since the Kernel
sizes may vary,
it is possible that the Kernel and filesystem (ramdisk, for example) may overlap
in memory.
