Bug#296175: package depends on itself

Bug#296399: gforge-ldap-openldap: somehow-viable-already option : kontact/kde/kaddressbook/kresources config for gforge-site ldap
Package: gforge-ldap-openldap Version: 3.1-26 Severity: wishlist Hi, First-off: Thank you, major-ly, for the debconf packaging work. GForge running on a home box is .. a big deal, heh, a nice prototypical setup. Here's what I'd wanted to mention, though: I just found this out, not sure what to do about it, but though that I might as well pass the word along, about it: It is possible, of course, to configure kontact/kaddressbook to use a gforge LDAP database as a contact-list data source. I am not sure how this might be worked for a site, automatcally. (I had to grep my ~/.kde/ to see how kaddressbook's address-book stuff is even being configured, in the first place.) http://pim.kde.org/ might have some info about this, though Im not wholly sure, as to whether it would be any in-depth info. So, here's a prototypical, adapted for public distribution copy of of what I'd found in my ~/.kde/share/config/kresources/contact/stdrc : [Resource_odd base64-like text] LdapAnonymous=false LdapAttributes=city,l,commonName,cn,description, description, facsimileTelephoneNumber, facsimileTelephoneNumber, familyName,sn,formattedName, gecos, givenName, givenName, jpegPhoto, jpegPhoto, mail, mail, mailAlias, debGforgeForwardEmail, mobile, mobile, objectClass, inetOrgPerson, organization,o,pager, pager, phoneNumber, homePhone, postalcode, postalCode, state,st,street, street, telephoneNumber, telephoneNumber, title, title, uid, uid LdapAutoCache=true LdapBindDN=uid=user's own gforge-site UID,ou=People,dc=myhost,dc=mydomain,dc=mytld LdapCachePolicy=0 LdapDn=dc=myhost,dc=mydomain,dc=mytld LdapFilter=((gecos=*)(!(cn=anoncvs))(!(uid=Dummy))(!(uid=None)) ) LdapHost=localhost LdapMech=CRAM-MD5 LdapPassword=encyphered user password LdapPort=389 LdapRDNPrefix=0 LdapRealm= LdapSASL=false LdapSSL=false LdapSizeLimit=0 LdapSubTree=true LdapTLS=false LdapTimeLimit=0 LdapUser=user's own gforge-site UID LdapVer=3 ResourceIdentifier=odd base64-like text ResourceIsActive=true ResourceIsReadOnly=true ResourceName=ldapkio address book - CWXN:GForge ResourceType=ldapkio Of course, everything in the blocks is edited from the original. The odd base64-like text was the same, in the INI-header and in the LdapUser field I'm sure that the rest of the edited-text will make sense, heh; maybe it's worth mentioning, though: Of course, some of that data -- namely, the LDAP server's base DN, and maybe the server's host-name -- I'd guess that it could be determined, automatically, upon the 'debconf' data for OpenLDAP So, the user's GForge-site UID and GForge-site password should be the only fields/values that the user should need to input, during an automatic installation of a resource-configuration block, like that one excerpted, above Some considerations, furthemore - pertaining more about GForge feature-requests, albeit, but worth mentioning here, probably: *) With the resource-configuration excerpted above, the user's debGforgeForwardEmail is the email address being shown; I do not know how it could be worked, either, to get the email address to be displayed, in each user's kontact/kaddresbook, as: {GForge-site [EMAIL PROTECTED] Host} *) There are more contact-management-supporting obectClass attributes -- more than what are presently being used for the gforge user database. Granted, GForge isn't a contact-management server, heh, but there are more attributes, though, which would be supported in GFOrge, for editing, and which might be of some use, for/in-regards-to: Contact management. *) Integrating contact management with an LDAP directory should be rather nifty, I'd think, for any given GForge site *) LDAP directory access-control lists may be a matter of concern, for the proverbial LDAP-directory admin. to consider Those thoughts may be more fit to mention in a GForge.org forum, I suppose. I thought that I might pass it by you - the deb:gforge-ldap-openldap maintainer - firstly, though. I'm not even sure about which gforge.org forum this could be worth mentioning in, exactly, or if it should be filed as a 'tracker' item, there, or what-else. If this seems worth mentiong at gforge.org, then I can take the initiative to mention it myself, there for what it's worth (user 'gimbal' at gforge.org, heh) ...and of course, if you'd have any suggestion, as to: Where at gforge.org this could be mentioned -- then I'd appreciate the suggestion! I hope that this may-be/may-have-been some helpful FYI. --- Tangential question, with some initial explanation: Do you ever wonder: What might Debian developers ever think, possibly -- in any long while, and/or hypothetically, today -- what might folks think, about GForge being integrated, ever, with the Debian BTS Debian {more}? (Something about project management system and package distribition system ... seem like they shold be fit together, ultimately. Granted, also: Debian packages tend to be made not-upstream, but still, there may be something groovin that could be worked-in, for

Bug#295317: /etc/init.d/networking: add support for ifrename
This is the first time I've used the bug tracker, so apologies if I do something wrong. This is in response to having the /etc/init.d/networking script call ifrename. Marco said/asked No, why? I'm hoping that Marco will reconsider his answer... The reason why is that network adapters are not guaranteed to always come up in the same order between reboots. It is important to map the network devices from the init script because it must be done before they are bought up with an IP address. This problem bit me the other day, where previously my e1000 card was eth0, and my 8139too card was eth1, but on reboot they had swapped over and networking no longer worked. This is a real problem, that affects permanent ethernet cards and not just hot pluggable ones. I solved the problem by mapping the names onto the MAC addresses using nameif, since that's included in the netbase package. I still had to to edit the /etc/init.d/networking script to call nameif though. Marco, I understand that ifrename was designed to superscede ifrename, but I would like to propose that you consider the option of supporting both in the /etc/init.d/networking script. I'd imagine that the code would work something along the lines of looking for ifrename and it's config file first, and if not found then use the older nameif. The code in it's basic form (minus comments and console messages) would look something like: if [ -r /etc/iftab ] [ -x /sbin/ifrename ]; then /sbin/ifrename -p -d elif [ -r /etc/mactab ] [ -x /sbin/nameif ]; then /sbin/nameif fi Apart from adding support for nameif which is part of the netbase package, this version also passes the -d parameter to iferename. The documentation for ifrename specifies that the -d option should be used on Debian systems to parse the /etc/network/interfaces file to determine which devices to load modules for. Package: dia Version: 0.94.0-5 Reproducing: New document. Create a UML class. Open the properties dialog, change fontsize for normal attributes to something other than 0.80. Save the file.(look at test file, the new value has been saved) Close the file, and reload it. Font size for normal for the class has been reset to 0.80. So it seems that while the changed font size is written to disk, it isn't used when the file is reopened. Seeing this in all tested version of 0.94 as found in Debian during the last year or so. Upstream this is bug 157016: http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=157016 which has already been fixed. I have looked in cvs and I believe that this is the fix: http://cvs.gnome.org/viewcvs/dia/objects/UML/class.c?r1=1.68r2=1.69 Please consider patching the Debian package with this fix as it is a real nuisance for me. Package: mysql-server Version: 4.0.23-7 Severity: normal Hello Christian, During my upgrade this morning I noticed that the MySQL server didn't restart after being upgraded. Having a look at the previous bug reports, this does not seem to be a normal behavior. Bug#295368: lmodern: Typewriter fonts are not monospaced
Hi, So, according to Walter, it is not worth the risk or lack of traceability patching the TFM files, because very few people would be using plain TeX with T1 encoding and these fonts, and he expects Hans Hagen to write a ConTeXt-specific patch if he cared about the problem, etc. All in all, it seems people would feel more comfortable if only text files such as .fd files were patched. OK. This is easier for me, and I currently only use the LaTeX format, so... I looked at Walter's patch but I don't understand why he didn't choose the way in the attached patch; to me, it looks simpler and less redundant (only provided for t1lmtt.fd; the same modification could be done for the other encodings, of course). Bug#296406: php4: New 4.3.10-7 packages change file upload behaviour
Package: php4 Version: 4:4.3.10-2 Severity: important Yesterday I decided to try out the new 4.3.10-7 packages that have been uploaded. They work fine. However, when uploading files with Internet Explorer the behaviour of php4 has changed. Previously, uploaded files had their path stripped from their names. So when uploading a file C:\Test\test.txt only test.txt would remain. This has changed when uploading files with Internet Explorer to php4 version 4.3.10-7. Files now have their full path name in $_FILES['file']['name']. This undocumented change breaks lots of applications that rely on $_FILES containing just the basename. Reverting to 4.3.10-2 resolves the issue. In addition to that fix I'd recommend considering disabling BIC by default since it is still an experimental algorithm. Or maybe you don't use gnome and so you can only see problems in evo? I do actually use GNOME, but the only GNOME applications I really use are the panel, Evoluton and gnome-terminal. Since the terminal doesn't really use icons and the damage to the panel was minimal (all the icons in the menu were still there, for example) only Evolution was showing the problem for me. Seeing that problem is on ppc, I think it's again the crappy problem with icons cache files. http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=296146 Yup, that fixed the problem. Bug#294691: kernel-image-2.6.8-1-686-smp: DVD Burner fails to function after burning a CD-R
On Fri, Feb 11, 2005 at 12:29:09AM -0500, Shawn M. Jones wrote: Package: kernel-image-2.6.8-1-686-smp Version: 2.6.8-10 Severity: normal At some point recently, my DVD Burner failed to return md5sums from recently created discs. As this was an inexpensive small-name brand device, I assumed that it had merely quit functioning and picked up a Pioneer DVR-109 as a replacement. That too, does not function. I can do an MD5 sum on a disc if I do not burn any CDs from that drive, but once I burn a CD, reading from the drive becomes... problematic. The drive is mountable and its contents are readable, but the md5sum program returns the same md5sum each time, no matter what disc, no matter what iso image. Also, mounting CDs afterwards may or may not work. Switching to the kernel-image-2.6.10-1-686-smp from sid has no effect on the problem. Switching to the 2.6.9 kernel used with Knoppix 3.7 appears to fix the problem if I have both drives plugged in at the same time. This is really odd. I'm going to do a fresh install of Sarge soon to see if this solves the problem. There was a a security fix to iotls for DVD devides a few months back, which basically now requires safe ioctls to be whitelisted, and this whitelist is still in the process of evolving. Here are some things to try. 1. Running your commands as root. Its a work around, but it should identify the whitelist as the problem. 2. 2.6.8-13, this contains some fixes 3. 2.6.8-14 from SVN, I can make a snapshot available if that helps. -- Horms -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. It looks for me that hotplug should have an exception for net/tun (but not net/tun?*) class and serve it as a misc device instead net. Am I right? Bug#294851: kernel-image-2.6.10-1-686: directory /lib/modules/2.6.10-1-686 still exists - due to the build symlink
reassign 294851 kernel-package thanks This behaviour is provided by make-kpkg which is used to build the header package in question. [Y/n] \\\ Of course, I stopped, because I was a) confused and b) of course not sure what I did some weeks ago. As you might know, the headers package creates a symlink like: $ ls -l /lib/modules/2.6.10-1-686 lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 36 2005-02-10 12:13 build - /usr/src/kernel-headers-2.6.10-1-686 I would suggest to include a test, that if there is the /lib/modules/2.6.10-1-686 dir, then also test if it _only_ includes the above symlink. If so, you can drop that message in such cases. I would think that many people only see this message, because they previously or at the same time installed the headers, by adding such a test a lot of time and confusion could be saved to these people. regards, jens -- System Information: Debian Release: 3.1 APT prefers unstable APT policy: (990, 'unstable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.9-1-386 Locale: LANG=de, LC_CTYPE=de (charmap=locale: Cannot set LC_CTYPE to default locale: No such file or directory locale: Cannot set LC_MESSAGES to default locale: No such file or directory locale: Cannot set LC_ALL to default locale: No such file or directory ANSI_X3.4-1968) -- debconf information excluded -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#296419: linux-wlan-ng: fails to build for 2.6.10 kernels
Package: linux-wlan-ng Version: 0.2.0+0.2.1pre21-1.1 Severity: serious Justification: no longer builds from source Build fails regardless of used method (using methods from /usr/share/doc/linux-wlan-ng-doc/README.Debian.gz). Build log is attached. I've seen there's a more recent version of linux-wlan-ng available. Might that be of help? Currently I am simply quite busy in real life, but will certainly appreciate help with the concrete problems (they are probably not big - maybe we should simply disable the tests and hope for the best?). When I tried to build it last time, it failed with another error, btw. I didn't investigate though. -- Martin Michlmayr http://www.cyrius.com/ -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Bug#295913: [Bug#295913: quilt: Quilt doesn't properly follow symlinked source files]
Hello, I just received this in the Debian BTS. Which of the two proposed solutions should we take? Please keep the bug in CC while answering. Thanks for your time, Mt. - Forwarded message from Marc Singer [EMAIL PROTECTED] - Subject: Bug#295913: quilt: Quilt doesn't properly follow symlinked source files X-Debian-PR-Package: quilt From: Marc Singer [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: Debian Bug Tracking System [EMAIL PROTECTED] X-Mailer: reportbug 3.2 Date: Fri, 18 Feb 2005 16:26:43 -0800 Package: quilt Version: 0.37-4 Severity: normal Using quilt add or quilt edit on a symlinked file confuses quilt. As it doesn't recognize that the named file is a symlink to a source file, quilt fails to track changes to that source file. This is probably easily solved by either disallowing add/edit to a symlinked file, or more robustly, following the symlink and adding the path of the real file instead. -- System Information: Debian Release: 3.1 APT prefers testing APT policy: (500, 'testing') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.7 Locale: LANG=en_US, LC_CTYPE=en_US (charmap=ISO-8859-1) Versions of packages quilt depends on: ii bzip2 1.0.2-1 A high-quality block-sorting file ii diffstat1.35-1 produces graph of changes introduc ii gawk1:3.1.4-2GNU awk, a pattern scanning and pr ii gettext 0.14.1-6 GNU Internationalization utilities ii libc6 2.3.2.ds1-18 GNU C Library: Shared libraries an ii patch 2.5.9-2 Apply a diff file to an original -- no debconf information - End forwarded message - signature.asc Description: Digital signature

Bug#296421: Please include where /bin/sh points to by default
Package: reportbug Version: 3.2 Severity: wishlist Please include in the section about the user's environment also what /bin/sh points to, as shell script failures do happen more with certain shells, and people don't usually report what shell they use. Especially people sending in bugs about broken scripts who neglect telling they use dash are annoying, as usually this error is not reproduceable with any other shell. Reassigning to both so that the respective maintainers can investigate and reassign to the one package at fault (I don't know whether this is dash's fault, or wwwconfig-common's). Since dash is also not a shell people normally use, severity is minor. Please in the future do list that you use dash, as it is a non-standard shell known to cause numerous issues with postinsts. Bug#296422: [PATCH] Non-DMA mode for floppy on PowerPC
Package: kernel-source-2.6.8 Version: 2.6.8-13 Tags: patch This patch allows to use floppy drive in non-DMA mode on PegasosPPC machines. To use it: 1. Do not build floppy driver as a module, link it statically. Transferring parameters to it from insmod is still problematic, at least it doesn't work properly on my system. May be i'll clean it up in future. 2. Specify floppy=nodma in kernel's arguments. Also you'll need to specify your drive type here using floppy=Drive number,Drive type,cmos. For example, floppy=0,4,cmos specifies type 4 (1.44 mb 3.5) for drive 0 on my system. This patch does not affect operation of the driver in DMA mode so it's safe to use on any platform. -- Best regards, Pavel Fedin, mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] --- include/asm-ppc/floppy.h.orig 2004-08-14 09:36:45.0 +0400 +++ include/asm-ppc/floppy.h2005-02-12 02:26:54.0 +0300 @@ -11,30 +11,188 @@ #ifndef __ASM_PPC_FLOPPY_H #define __ASM_PPC_FLOPPY_H +#include linux/vmalloc.h + +#define CSW fd_routine[can_use_virtual_dma 1] + #define fd_inb(port) inb_p(port) #define fd_outb(value,port)outb_p(value,port) -#define fd_enable_dma() enable_dma(FLOPPY_DMA) -#define fd_disable_dma()disable_dma(FLOPPY_DMA) -#define fd_request_dma()request_dma(FLOPPY_DMA,floppy) -#define fd_free_dma() free_dma(FLOPPY_DMA) -#define fd_clear_dma_ff() clear_dma_ff(FLOPPY_DMA) -#define fd_set_dma_mode(mode) set_dma_mode(FLOPPY_DMA,mode) -#define fd_set_dma_addr(addr) set_dma_addr(FLOPPY_DMA,(unsigned int)virt_to_bus(addr)) -#define fd_set_dma_count(count) set_dma_count(FLOPPY_DMA,count) +#define fd_disable_dma() CSW._disable_dma(FLOPPY_DMA) +#define fd_request_dma()CSW._request_dma(FLOPPY_DMA,floppy) +#define fd_free_dma() CSW._free_dma(FLOPPY_DMA) +#define fd_get_dma_residue()CSW._get_dma_residue(FLOPPY_DMA) +#define fd_dma_mem_alloc(size) CSW._dma_mem_alloc(size) +#define fd_dma_setup(addr, size, mode, io) CSW._dma_setup(addr, size, mode, io) #define fd_enable_irq() enable_irq(FLOPPY_IRQ) #define fd_disable_irq()disable_irq(FLOPPY_IRQ) -#define fd_cacheflush(addr,size) /* nothing */ -#define fd_request_irq()request_irq(FLOPPY_IRQ, floppy_interrupt, \ - SA_INTERRUPT|SA_SAMPLE_RANDOM, \ - floppy, NULL) #define fd_free_irq() free_irq(FLOPPY_IRQ, NULL); -__inline__ void virtual_dma_init(void) +static int virtual_dma_count; +static int virtual_dma_residue; +static char *virtual_dma_addr; +static int virtual_dma_mode; +static int doing_pdma; + +static irqreturn_t floppy_hardint(int irq, void *dev_id, struct pt_regs * regs) +{ + register unsigned char st; + +#undef TRACE_FLPY_INT + +#ifdef TRACE_FLPY_INT + static int calls=0; + static int bytes=0; + static int dma_wait=0; +#endif + if (!doing_pdma) + return floppy_interrupt(irq, dev_id, regs); + +#ifdef TRACE_FLPY_INT + if(!calls) + bytes = virtual_dma_count; +#endif + { + register int lcount; + register char *lptr; + + st = 1; + for(lcount=virtual_dma_count, lptr=virtual_dma_addr; + lcount; lcount--, lptr++) { + st=inb(virtual_dma_port+4) 0xa0 ; + if(st != 0xa0) + break; + if(virtual_dma_mode) + outb_p(*lptr, virtual_dma_port+5); + else + *lptr = inb_p(virtual_dma_port+5); + } + virtual_dma_count = lcount; + virtual_dma_addr = lptr; + st = inb(virtual_dma_port+4); + } + +#ifdef TRACE_FLPY_INT + calls++; +#endif + if(st == 0x20) + return IRQ_HANDLED; + if(!(st 0x20)) { + virtual_dma_residue += virtual_dma_count; + virtual_dma_count=0; +#ifdef TRACE_FLPY_INT + printk(count=%x, residue=%x calls=%d bytes=%d dma_wait=%d\n, + virtual_dma_count, virtual_dma_residue, calls, bytes, + dma_wait); + calls = 0; + dma_wait=0; +#endif + doing_pdma = 0; + floppy_interrupt(irq, dev_id, regs); + return IRQ_HANDLED; + } +#ifdef TRACE_FLPY_INT + if(!virtual_dma_count) + dma_wait++; +#endif + return IRQ_HANDLED; +} + +static void vdma_disable_dma(unsigned int dummy) { - /* Nothing to do on PowerPC */ + doing_pdma = 0; + virtual_dma_residue += virtual_dma_count; + virtual_dma_count=0; } +static int vdma_request_dma(unsigned int dmanr, const char * device_id) +{ + return 0; +} +

Bug#292803: remove luola-levels 5.1-1 from testing
Hi Christian! It seems from this bug report that the current version of luola-levels in testing is unusable. I therefore recommend to ask the release managers to remove luola-levels 5.1-1 from testing, to get this RC bug from testing away. The next version from unstable will automatically enter testing when luola goes in. Willi -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Bug#296369: ITP: spin -- Powerfull model checking and software verification tool
Glenn Maynard wrote: On Tue, Feb 22, 2005 at 02:31:03AM +0100, Eike Dehling wrote: * Package name: spin * URL : http://www.spinroot.com/ * License : Free(as in, no license) for non-commercial use, commercial use requires this license: http://cm.bell-labs.com/cm/cs/what/spin/spin_license.html This license is non-free, and probably not sufficient to allow redistribution in non-free, either. Please see: http://lists.debian.org/debian-legal/2004/01/msg00267.html As stated on their website: Spin is distributed in source form to encourage research in formal verification, and to help a support friendly and open exchange of algorithms, ideas, and tools. The software itself has a copyright from Lucent Technologies and Bell Laboratories, and is distributed for research and educational purposes only (i.e., no guarantee of any kind is implied by the distribution of the code, and all rights are reserved by the copyright holder). For this general use of Spin, no license is required. Commercial application of the Spin software is also allowed, but requires the acceptance of a basic license. Refer to the Spin Public license for details. So unless someone uses it commercially no license applies. Debian itself isn't commercial, so it doesn't apply here. The first sentence even encourages redistribution/modification, i'd think? How much of a problem is the restriction on commercial use, when non-commercial use is free? Ok, this is a dash bug, #268944. Because /bin/sh claims to be a replacement /bin/sh when installing, this is IMHO a critical bug -- it breaks unrelated software. Either dash should not advertise itself as a replacement /bin/sh, or it should behave like one expects from a /bin/sh, exiting when evaluating an 'if' condition being not something someone expects from a /bin/sh shell. Bug#296428: kwifimanager: KWifiManager doesn't save settings
Package: kwifimanager Version: 4:3.3.2-1 Severity: important I am submitting a bug report that I also submitted upstream at: http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1: The KWifiManager control center module doesn't save any settings here, regardless on whether I start it from KWifiManager or use the control center directly. It also does not work when I start the control center as root directly. I tried clicking Apply on every change, but when I leave the dialog with OK or just by selecting an other control center module from the list and then go back all my changes got lost. This applies to all settings in one of those 4 possible configuration as well as the setting on which configuration to load and the setting on which network interface the configuration is for. I like to setup a start script that does a DHCP on the interface once the WLAN connection is up, but I can't since any changes to my settings get lost. This is on an IBM ThinkPad R51 with Debian Sarge with kwifimanager 3.3.2-1 wireless-tools 27-2 kernel-image-2.6.10-4 and ipw2200 driver (version 1.0.0, firmware 2.2). I therefore recommend to ask the release managers to remove luola-levels 5.1-1 from testing, to get this RC bug from testing away. I'd prefer if sdl-mixer1.2 were built on mips, but go ahead. The luola has to be removed from testing as well? Christian -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]

The first sentence even encourages redistribution/modification, i'd think? How much of a problem is the restriction on commercial use, when non-commercial use is free? Is what was quoted above the sum total of the permission text that comes with spin? I don't see anything in what you quoted above which gives the right to modify and/or redistribute spin. Bug#296433: umbrello: classes completely disappearing when moved into packages
Package: umbrello Version: 4:3.3.2-1 Severity: critical Justification: causes serious data loss I have a fairly complex class diagram (around 30 classes ). If I move classes into packages using the logical view and drag'n drop, some of the classes do completely dissapear when dropped into a package. This does not become immideately obvious when looking at the class diagram where they are still displayed, but they are removed from the logical view. After saving and loading the file the classes are also removed from the class diagram so they are completly gone. The classes which are correctly added to the package and which go to /dev/null seem to be random, I can't find a pattern. Additionally moving Interfaces into a package often hangs the application. Bug#296435: awstats_buildstaticpages.pl should print errors to STDERR

This can be accomplished by modifying the error subroutine as follows: sub error { print STDERR Error: $_[0].\n; exit 1; } Thanks. I'll add that for next release of the package. It is on my todo for the package to switch to generating static pages only by default. Bug#296443: Update ARM netwinder rules to be correct
Package: kernel-package Version: 8.124 Severity: important Tags: patch The kernel-package rules are incorrect for ARM netwinder, we fake a compressed header on uncompressed kernel Image files otherwise some bootloaders get it very wrong. This chnage has been used by the Debian ARM kernel maintainer (me ;-) for some time and I only just discovered I havnt submitted the change before (many apologies) Its labeled important because others are waiting to reproduce the builds of updated ARM kernel images (I've been unavailable for a while - again my bad) --- /usr/share/kernel-package/rules.orig2005-02-22 14:30:11.758347733 + +++ /usr/share/kernel-package/rules 2005-02-22 14:30:21.257303150 + @@ -249,7 +249,7 @@ kimage := zImage target = Image kimagesrc = arch/$(KERNEL_ARCH)/boot/Image -kimagedest = $(INT_IMAGE_DESTDIR)/vmlinux-$(version) +kimagedest = $(INT_IMAGE_DESTDIR)/vmlinuz-$(version) loaderdep= loader=nettrom loaderdoc= signature.asc Description: Digital signature

Bug#294691: kernel-image-2.6.8-1-686-smp: Looks like it might be a hardware issue
Package: kernel-image-2.6.8-1-686-smp Version: 2.6.8-10 Followup-For: Bug #294691 I was still testing when I received the message from [EMAIL PROTECTED] After going through several iterations, I realized that if both DVD burners were installed on the same IDE cable (which is how I got to testing with Knoppix), the problem goes away. If only one is installed, then I can sometimes overcome the issue by ejecting the tray a few times to get a good read. I've replaced the IDE cable to no avail. I have no other system at my disposal to take down and install the DVD Burners to see if they are an issue, but I think they're ok. Looks like the motherboard is acting up on me. Thank you for your time, but it looks like I might have some flaky hardware. I'm sorry to have wasted your effort. --Shawn -- System Information: Debian Release: 3.1 APT prefers testing APT policy: (500, 'testing') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.8-1-686-smp Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Versions of packages kernel-image-2.6.8-1-686-smp depends on: ii coreutils [fileutils] 5.2.1-2The GNU core utilities ii initrd-tools 0.1.77 tools to create initrd image for p ii module-init-tools 3.2-pre1-2 tools for managing Linux kernel mo -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe.
