Bug#349944: Seek slider and track time reporting totally borked
Package: rhythmbox Version: 0.9.2-3 Severity: normal The slider which is supposed to show the time elapsed in the currently playing track is totally borked. It stays stuck at 0:00; it doesn't update, the total track time displayed does not change when the track changes. This may be related to more serious problems in Rhythmbox's ability to keep track of the time elapsed in the currently playing track. The tooltip for the Rhythmbox notification area icon does update the total track time correctly. However, the current time is either 0:00 or some insane value (e.g., right now it says 82566:03:01 of 0:01:05). -- System Information: Debian Release: testing/unstable APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Kernel: Linux 2.6.14-2-686 Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Versions of packages rhythmbox depends on: ii avahi-daemon 0.6.4-1 Avahi mDNS/DNS-SD daemon ii dbus 0.60-5simple interprocess messaging syst ii gconf2 2.12.1-8 GNOME configuration database syste ii gstreamer0.8-alsa [gst 0.8.11-6 ALSA plugin for GStreamer ii gstreamer0.8-flac 0.8.11-6 FLAC plugin for GStreamer ii gstreamer0.8-gnomevfs 0.8.11-6 Gnome VFS plugin for GStreamer ii gstreamer0.8-mad 0.8.11-6 MAD MPEG audio decoder plugin for ii gstreamer0.8-misc 0.8.11-6 Collection of various GStreamer pl ii gstreamer0.8-vorbis0.8.11-6 Vorbis plugin for GStreamer ii libart-2.0-2 2.3.17-1 Library of functions for 2D graphi ii libatk1.0-01.10.3-1 The ATK accessibility toolkit ii libaudiofile0 0.2.6-6 Open-source version of SGI's audio ii libavahi-client3 0.6.4-1 Avahi client library ii libavahi-common3 0.6.4-1 Avahi common library ii libavahi-compat-howl0 0.6.4-1 Avahi Howl compatibility library ii libavahi-glib1 0.6.4-1 Avahi glib integration library ii libbonobo2-0 2.10.1-1 Bonobo CORBA interfaces library ii libbonoboui2-0 2.10.1-2 The Bonobo UI library ii libc6 2.3.5-12 GNU C Library: Shared libraries an ii libcairo2 1.0.2-3 The Cairo 2D vector graphics libra ii libdbus-1-20.60-5simple interprocess messaging syst ii libdbus-glib-1-2 0.60-5simple interprocess messaging syst ii libesd-alsa0 [libesd0] 0.2.36-3 Enlightened Sound Daemon (ALSA) - ii libexpat1 1.95.8-3 XML parsing C library - runtime li ii libfontconfig1 2.3.2-1.1 generic font configuration library ii libfreetype6 2.1.10-1 FreeType 2 font engine, shared lib ii libgconf2-42.12.1-8 GNOME configuration database syste ii libgcrypt111.2.2-1 LGPL Crypto library - runtime libr ii libglade2-01:2.5.1-2 library to load .glade files at ru ii libglib2.0-0 2.8.6-1 The GLib library of C routines ii libgnome-keyring0 0.4.6-2 GNOME keyring services library ii libgnome2-02.12.0.1-4The GNOME 2 library - runtime file ii libgnomecanvas2-0 2.12.0-2 A powerful object-oriented display ii libgnomeui-0 2.12.0-2 The GNOME 2 libraries (User Interf ii libgnomevfs2-0 2.12.2-5 GNOME virtual file-system (runtime ii libgnutls111.0.16-14 GNU TLS library - runtime library ii libgpg-error0 1.1-4 library for common error values an ii libgpod0 0.3.0-2 a library to read and write songs ii libgstreamer-gconf0.8- 0.8.11-6 GConf support for GStreamer ii libgstreamer0.8-0 0.8.11-3 Core GStreamer libraries, plugins, ii libgtk2.0-02.8.10-1 The GTK+ graphical user interface ii libhal10.5.5.1-5 Hardware Abstraction Layer - share ii libice66.8.2.dfsg.1-11 Inter-Client Exchange library ii libjpeg62 6b-11 The Independent JPEG Group's JPEG ii libmusicbrainz4c2a 2.1.2-2 Second generation incarnation of t ii libnautilus-burn2 2.12.2-3 Nautilus Burn Library - runtime ve ii liborbit2 1:2.12.4-1libraries for ORBit2 - a CORBA ORB ii libpango1.0-0 1.10.2-1 Layout and rendering of internatio ii libpng12-0 1.2.8rel-5PNG library - runtime ii libpopt0 1.7-5 lib for parsing cmdline parameters ii libsm6 6.8.2.dfsg.1-11 X Window System Session Management ii libsoup2.2-8 2.2.6-1 an HTTP library implementation in ii libtasn1-2 0.2.17-1

I also changed the line {quiet, 2, NULL, 'q'}, in opts[]={ to {quiet, 0, NULL, 'q'}, but it still doesn't behave as I would expect. The -q=n syntax is anomalous, every other option uses -x value. I suggest that -q= be deprecated and that -qqq or -q n be encouraged instead. I can't spend any more time on this now and I'm at almost all at sea. Perhaps a proficient coder could have a look-see. Martin Michlmayr wrote: Stop makeklcc.pl from hardcoding paths of cc, ld and strip in the klcc script it generates. Using hardcoded paths is generally a bad idea. First, the whole idea of $PATH is that you don't need to hardcode paths. Second, klcc is a Perl script but my hardcoding the paths you make it less portable. In this case, though, it's probably required, since otherwise you could end up with some very strange results when cross-compiling. I'm not sure what the ideal answer is, but I think this is wrong. klcc is a installation-specific, generated Perl script, so portability is not an issue. -hpa -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#349949: Files written to wrong locations
Package: abcde Version: 2.3.99.2-1 1. For ogg Vorbis files, the extension in OUTPUTPATH can be wrong. To fix that I changed $OUTPUT to $OUTPUTCONTAINER in a couple of places. I suspect something similar will be necessary for do_playlist(). 2. the GENRE and YEAR variables are not set in function do_replaygain(), so $OUTPUTFILE gets an incomplete path, causing files not to be found. 3. Line 1247 seems to do nothing more than setting $YEAR to the value of $CDYEAR, whether it is filled or not (the default value is $CDYEAR itself). I didn't modify it, since I don't know exactly what would go there. 4. It looks like the code for munging CDDB fields, etc, and creating filenames is repeated quite a few times times through the script, with slight variations. Seems like a good candidate for refactoring. Thanks for such a great program! About a month ago I started ripping my CD collection, and I tried quite a few rippers/encoders/taggers. None did all I wanted, although Grip came close. I wrote a couple of Perl scripts to hook to Grip, so I could do multiencoding, proper munging of tags, and automatic addition of replay gain tags. But it turned out Grip can't call a script after enconding, only after ripping, so no replaygain. When I was almost convinced I'd have to write my own and even had started planning what I'd code and what modules to use, I tried abcde and discovered it did everything I needed, and then some. Bug#349951: CDDB protocol in config file
Package: abcde Version: 2.3.99.2-1 I wanted to make UTF-8 my default, so I wouldn't have to specify it in the command line every time. Looking at the code it seemed CDDBPROTO is the variable to use. So I added CDDBPROTO=6 to the configuration file, and it works. Can a section for that variable be added permanently to the config file, or is what I did not good? Bernardo Rechea
Bug#217477: --quirk
On Thu, Jan 26, 2006 at 04:33:12PM +1300, Mark Robinson [EMAIL PROTECTED] was heard to say: this is still borken piwakawaka:~# aptitude -qq update Expected a number after -q=, got q piwakawaka:~# which is a lie, there was no -q= Here's the relevant code from main.cc in aptitude-0.4.1: case 'q': if(optarg == 0) ++quiet; else { if(*optarg == '=') ++optarg; if(*optarg == 0) { fprintf(stderr, _(Expected a number after -q=\n)); return -1; } char *tmp; quiet = strtol(optarg, tmp, 0); if(*tmp != '\0') { fprintf(stderr, _(Expected a number after -q=, got %s\n), optarg); return -1; } } seen_quiet = true; break; Obviously the block dealing with the parameters needs to be defined contingent on the existance of the =. Ew. The -q=n syntax is anomalous, every other option uses -x value. I suggest that -q= be deprecated and that -qqq or -q n be encouraged instead. I think that would be great, and it's how things originally worked; unfortunately, this led to user complaints (see earlier in this bug log). And, predictably, it appears that adding a weird special case had unforseen side effects (who woulda thunk it!) A side note: Attempting to compile aptitude throws up a linker error about not being able to find cppunit. I assume this should be added as a build-depends ? That should only happen when you run make check or do a package build, and libcppunit-dev is a build-depends already AFAIK. Which version are you trying to build and how? Bug#349427: aptitude: bad czech translation
On Wed, Jan 25, 2006 at 06:27:28PM +0100, Christian Perrier [EMAIL PROTECTED] was heard to say: Quoting Daniel Burrows ([EMAIL PROTECTED]): should do the trick. /me sadly expect for the string changes that will trigger another run of translation updates..:-) Whoops, did I reverse the order of arguments for this string? I could always just reverse the order again and use positionals in the English translation. My point, which was maybe not clear, is that you probably have to use positional arguments in the English string...thus breaking all translationswhich is fine, of course, but very probably triggering a few dozens of l10n bug reports for updates. Ah, no, that's not a problem: the order of arguments is fine in English. I suppose that the Czech idiom gives the media and drive in the opposite order from the English one. Bug#335424: pyzor: Issue still present
Well, pretty much, the 'internal error' is just spamd's way of saying that something went wrong. In this case a debug ('spamassassin -D –lint' or something like it) would be really useful to me. Although I know of another cause (besides the one that I fixed in -6) that could cause an internal error. Per [1] it seems that an error (this is with -D --lint) such as [26906] dbg: pyzor: got response: Traceback (most recent call last):\n File /usr/bin/pyzor, line 4, in ?\npyzor.client.run()\n File /usr/lib/python2.4/site-packages/pyzor/client.py, line 934, in run\nExecCall().run()\n File /usr/lib/python2.4/site-packages/pyzor/client.py, line 169, in run\nos.mkdir(homedir)\nOSError: [Errno 20] Not a directory: '/dev/null/.pyzor' [26906] dbg: info: leaving helper-app run mode [26906] warn: pyzor: check failed: internal error could happen. I'm not convinced that this is a pyzor flaw as it has to do with pyzor not getting a valid home directory, which, to store servers and configs, it pretty much needs. If this is the case, I think that you should run SA under a user that has a home directory, though I could be convinced otherwise. Anyways, this is all mute if the home directory issue is not really your problem. If you could get back to me with a debug log or some more information that would be most helpful. Thanks for bringing the issue to my attention. I see 'Foo Bar' being converted to 'FWT8B4~Q'. Oddly enough one can access the file just fine. Anyone got a clue? There doesn't seem to be any obvious shell exploit hidden there, FWIW. If you can access the file ok, then the bug title seems to be wrong? I assume the name is being mangled for sharing due to concerns over clients failing to handle the name correctly. But I'm not sure that it's for the benefit of /Windows/ clients in this case. Indeed. Using mangled name = no does not show the filename mangled anymore. So, this is actually more a feature than a bug. I recommend closing this bug but I prefer getting others advices abou tit. The upload of 4.0.14-4 will happen soon. We have the opportunity of fixing this bug now. From Nicolas survey, it does not seem likely to harm critical things (inclusing sarge to etch upgrades, see thread back in November), so the only actions (besides stopping to apply the 423 patch) are communication: -publish an announcement in d-d -include a technical document in /usr/share/doc/passwd There was a proposal for POSIXLY_CORRECT variableI'm not deeply convinced to add this complexity unless it proves really useful (backword compatibility...but with what?).
