Bug#521528: libsane-extras: Please don't remove epkowa.conf if iscan package is installed

2009-03-28 Thread Brendon Higgins
Package: libsane-extras
Version: 1.0.19.15
Severity: minor

Here I am trying to figure out why my scanner doesn't work *again*, and I
discover that the recent upgrade of libsane-extras probably (from what I
can ascertain from the changelog) removed the epkowa.conf config file that
iscan needed to work.

*sigh*

It's like rubbing salt in the wound. Could you *please* check that another
package, i.e. iscan, doesn't already claim epkowa.conf before removing that
file, or at least check that iscan isn't installed, first?

(Yes, I had to modify the iscan package's control file, removing the
conflict, to get it to install. I'm sure I'm not the only one.)

Thanks,
Brendon

Bug#500342: Please support progress_indicator on scp uploads

2009-03-28 Thread Y Giridhar Appaji Nag
Hi Chris,

Apologies for the late response.

On 08/09/27 16:06 +0100, Chris Lamb said ...
The attached patch adds support for 'progress_indicator' on SCP uploads

Updated patch attached; it was not adding '-v' when changing the file modes.

This patch actually increases the verbosity of the ssh protocol messages
(because of the -v switches) rather than the progress of the file copy itself.

With upload method scp, currently the progress indicator (dput's progress) is
sort of 'always on' and in case we want to modify the existing behaviour, what
we may want to do is the following:

 - use the -q switch to scp in case of progress_indicator = 0
 - use the current default behaviour in case of progress_indicator = 1 or 2

Does this make sense? I am afraid, with the patch in its current form, this
bug would be wontfix.

Regards,

Giridhar

So this part puzzled me.

And I'm now trying to reproduce this problem but debootstrap doesn't

Hi,

the sphinx docs shipped with python-apt use Sphinx's own copy of
jquery.js (in html/_static), but it should really use the one shipped
with the libjs-jquery package and symlink to it, to avoid duplication.

Thanks,

Michael

Yes, good analysis. Silly that I didn't think of it. :)

Well, it's not really obvious without clear documentation/error
messages.

  * check if my suspicion with the protocol discrepancy is true?

Yeah, it works with a backport.

Great, thanks for checking!

I will add the note to README.Debian again, and I can also create a
backport package after the package I'm going to upload later hits
  testing.
 Sweet, thanks,

I leave this bug open until the backported package is available.

Bug#305865: fixed in fortunes-bofh-excuses 1.2-2

| Hmmm. You'd almost start to believe in ESP in a case like this...
| But I really did upload before receiving this mail.

Indeed, strange! :-)

| I'll cancel my upload to delayed (it would still get accepted as mine has

| made in my upload.

Thanks.

| The changes in the upstream list are minor: 2 small fixes and ~10 new
| fortunes.

I'll grab those. Thanks.

Bug#521534: Fails to produce linkable modules with kernels 2.6.28 and above ?

2009-03-28 Thread Vincent Fourmond
Package: module-assistant
Version: 0.11.0
Severity: important

  Hello,

While compiling the nvidia kernel modules using m-a build nvidia for
recent kernels, a 2.6.28 make-kpkg-made kernel and the 2.6.29 official
kernel that just hit unstable, m-a builds fine, but when I try to load
the module, the kernel refuses the load the module, with an error in
the style of:

Mar 28 08:46:50 tanyaivinco kernel: [ 151.047863] nvidia: disagrees about
version of symbol struct_module

(this is for a 2.6.29 kernel, I don't have the logs for the 2.6.28)

This is very annoying, as I simply can't use my graphics card
properly without this module, which makes a recent kernel unusable.

I'm unsure from where the bug is coming from: kernel ? nvidia-kernel
? or module-assistant ? Here is the rationale why I choose to report
on m-a first:

  * nvidia-kernel works on older kernels (2.6.26 and older, I didn't
check with 2.6.27), so it probably isn't the problematic one ?

  * both home-made kernels and official debian kernels has the same
effects, so that probably isn't kernel-related?

I'm aware I don't give much information, but I don't know what to
give. Please ask me for more !

  Cheers,

Vincent

Bug#521507: fai-server: Using fai-mirror mirror causes make-fai-nfsroot to fail because of missing live-initramfs

2009-03-28 Thread Michael Tautschnig

 Package: fai-server
 Version: 3.2.16
 Severity: normal

 Hi,

 I created a local mirror using fai-mirror.

I then attempted to use that local mirror with make-fai-nfsroot.

It failed with the error live-initramfs was not installed inside the
 nfsroot.

 I've created a file LIVEINITRAMFS inside /srv/fai/config/package_config
containing a dependency on live-initramfs. I'm testing it now to see if it
fixes the problem. (I've got a slow computer, so I'll know in a couple of
 hours.)

No, this won't help, it is missing in the NFSROOT. Which Debian distribution are
you using? Further, please run make-fai-nfsroot -v and attach the output to this
bug report.

Thanks,
Michael

Bug#497050: This may be caused by module-init-tools

2009-03-28 Thread Nyizsnyik Ferenc
  Hello,

My system also hangs sometimes after the Cleaning up ifupdown
message. This is displayed by ifupdown-clean, which mainly deletes a
file, so the chance is little that it causes the hang. Moreover, if I
press Ctrl-C, the following message appears: Will now check all
filesystems, which is displayed by checkfs. So I suspect that the
problem is in the script that runs between them (the one I interrupt):
module-init-tools.

Once Python 2.6 is in sid, I'll update boost to build libraries for

... so for the time being the boost (and all its dependencies) are
blocked from transitioning to squeeze because of these bug reports. Is
that really the intended behavior, how long is it expected to take to
 get solved for the good?

Looked into it again - it only seems to affect boost1.37 badly. The
version it was reported for boost1.35 is only in experimental, and the
version it was reported for boost is already in testing.

My suggestion is to reduce the severity for the bugreport against
boost1.37 for the time being so that it can transition to testing and
won't hold up other packages along that way until a proper solution has
been worked out.

Would that be acceptable to you, Matthias?

Bug#521410: (no subject)

2009-03-28 Thread Julien BLACHE
Seth Lang sethl...@yahoo.com wrote:

Hi,

After some more testing this problem is resolved temporarily by
connecting the scanner to another computer running Debian Etch. When I
run a scan under Debian Etch the scanner seems to reset (the roller
that pulls the paper into the ADF resets back up to its normal
position). After scanning (resetting) with Etch I can then connect
this back to the other computer running Debian Lenny and it will work
fine for a little while until after some more scans it happens again,
then I need to repeat the process of connecting it again and scanning
with Etch (or even worse a windows machine) or else the scanner will
not work. There seems to be a function that resets the scanner in Etch
that is no longer there in Lenny.

That's very useful, thanks for taking the time to investigate! I'll
try to look into that, but I can't promise a fix. The changes in the
avision backend are really big and we don't have the full revision
history so it's really one big chunk :(

You don't need the defines above.

We'll need to prefix the symbols with dl_ because we have them in

This is exactly why there are these defines.

Brendon Higgins blhigg...@gmail.com wrote:

Hi,

It's like rubbing salt in the wound. Could you *please* check that another
package, i.e. iscan, doesn't already claim epkowa.conf before removing that
file, or at least check that iscan isn't installed, first?

What's the exact package name? Is it just iscan?

(Yes, I had to modify the iscan package's control file, removing the
conflict, to get it to install. I'm sure I'm not the only one.)

Ah. You should have added a Replaces: libsane-extras, that would have
worked better (iscan effectively taking ownership of the epkowa.conf
conffile in that case).

Hopefully we're at the end of the tunnel with this whole mess now, new
packages are mostly ready at Avasys.

Hallo!

I found out, that the FoomaticRIPCommandLine in my ppd-file wasn't able

found-error). This wasn't a problem for foomatic-filters 3.

Well then, now I can print again with the new version 4 of foomatic-filters.

Followup-For: Bug #473076

Hallo!

Today I've updated my squeeze system via aptitude. Within this update
foomatic-filters has been updated from 3.0.2-20080211-3.2 to 4.0-20090311-1.
After this update I wasn't able to print on my Canon iR1022 any longer.

CUPS logged this:
PID 5744 (/usr/lib/cups/filter/foomatic-rip) stopped with status 1!
[Job 929] Job stopped due to filter errors.

The CUPS Webfrontend told me:
foomatic-filters: /usr/lib/cups/filter/foomatic-rip failed

I tried deleting and reinstalling the PID-file, but it did not help.

Now I installed the former version from snapshot.debian.org and can print
again. But I don't like to freeze my system on this version ;)

Regards,
Michael

? or module-assistant ? Here is the rationale why I choose to report
 on m-a first:

   * nvidia-kernel works on older kernels (2.6.26 and older, I didn't

Bug#521539: libgv-tcl: Tcldot render command prints canvas commands to stdout instead of returning

2009-03-28 Thread Ilya Anfimov
Package: libgv-tcl
Version: 2.20.2-3
Severity: important
Tags: patch

Well, the problem from subject. It could be checked
by attempting to run doted from graphviz examples on
any example graph. Nothing will appear on screen,
but canvas code is printed to console.

Indeed, tcldot calls tk renderer, assuming that
it will be tkgen.c code. That code have all the needed
to return it's canvas paint strings to TCL. However,
now tk renderer is also available from the common plugins of
libgv. By default it just prints it's results to stdout.

The simplest method of fixing it is to change name
of internal tcldot renderer from tk to tkgen.
Also, changed renderer type from API_render to API_device --
all other codegen_t renderers are API_device, and without
it attempting to call gvjobs_output_langname would fail.
Attached patch implements this method.

There could be another way of fixing -- to add hook to
gvc device to write all rendering results via Tcl_AppendResult
in tcldot.c. This would allow to use standard tk
rendering backend. However, this is less simple
and, as I saw in tk plugin code -- it appears to have
less features then tkgen.

Bug#521521: Similar problem spoted

2009-03-28 Thread Eduard Bloch
Hello,

I had a similar problem on a system here. It had a custom .rules file to
set fixed name of the interfaces (which was needed to solve the old
Schroedinger interface game in ?2007?). The problem was gone after I
renamed the custom file to be sorted after the 70-persistent-net.rules
in the lexiconographic sort order.

I think, the main reason for the confusion is the manpage: It tells you
long story about sort order, but it does not tell you which file is
prefered in that order. The first or the last one?

Regards,
Eduard.

Of course... The source is from nvidia-kernel-source. The current
unstable version does not work (180.29-1). I think the previous unstable
one did not work either, but I unfortunately don't have the logs to
confirm that.

  Exactly. See:
nvidia-kernel-2.6.26-1-amd64_180.29-1+2.6.26-13_amd64.deb
nvidia-kernel-2.6.29-1-amd64_180.29-1+2.6.29-1_amd64.deb

The one on 2.6.29 does not load, while the one on 2.6.26 works
perfectly fine.

Would you like a build log ? How shall I do that with m-a to make sure
you get as much information as possible ?

BTW, I don't know if that has anything to do with the rest, but:
  * I run m-a build as a normal user (member of src)
  * I install the resulting .deb manually as root with dpkg.

  Cheers,

Vincent

Bug#521541: ITP: libscalar-string-perl -- Perl module for querying string encoding of scalars.

2009-03-28 Thread Ivan Kohler
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Ivan Kohler ivan-deb...@420.am

* Package name: libscalar-string-perl
  Version : 0.000
Upstream Author : Andrew Main (Zefram) zef...@fysh.org
* URL : http://search.cpan.org/dist/Scalar-String/
* License : Perl
  Programming Lang: Perl
Description : Perl module for querying string encoding of scalars.

This module is about the string part of plain Perl scalars. A scalar has
a string value, which is notionally a sequence of Unicode codepoints,
but may be internally encoded in either ISO-8859-1 or UTF-8. In places,
and more so in older versions of Perl, the internal encoding shows
through. To fully understand Perl strings it is necessary to understand
these implementation details.

This module provides functions to classify a string by encoding and to
encode a string in a desired way.

Bug#521534: Fails to produce linkable modules with kernels 2.6.28 and above ?

2009-03-28 Thread Cyril Brulebois
Vincent Fourmond fourm...@debian.org (28/03/2009):
Of course... The source is from nvidia-kernel-source. The current
unstable version does not work (180.29-1). I think the previous
unstable one did not work either, but I unfortunately don't have the
 logs to confirm that.

OK. I'm trying to reproduce with 2.6.29 but downloading the kernel takes
ages. :) At least I know which n-k-s package I'm supposed to test. :)

  Same version?

   Exactly. See:
 nvidia-kernel-2.6.26-1-amd64_180.29-1+2.6.26-13_amd64.deb
 nvidia-kernel-2.6.29-1-amd64_180.29-1+2.6.29-1_amd64.deb

The one on 2.6.29 does not load, while the one on 2.6.26 works
 perfectly fine.

OK.

Would you like a build log ? How shall I do that with m-a to make
sure you get as much information as possible ?

That might not be necessary, I'm trying to reproduce at home (on amd64
as well). You could log the output of “fakeroot m-a -t a-b nvidia -u
foo/”, for example.

BTW, I don't know if that has anything to do with the rest, but:
   * I run m-a build as a normal user (member of src)

I didn't try that yet, but I shall try. :)

   * I install the resulting .deb manually as root with dpkg.

That's what I'm going to do. :)

Mraw,
KiBi.

Hi Fabio,

I pulled it from experimental and checked back and forth, 1.1.12-1.1.13
effectively fixed the issue for me.

Thank you!

Bug#521542: boinc-manager: after some days, Messages is not updated anymore

2009-03-28 Thread Sandro Tosi
Package: boinc-manager
Version: 6.2.18-3
Severity: normal

Hello,
after some days (maybe 14? the log starts at Mar 11 and stops at Mar 25) the log
messages in Messages tab are no more updated.

The file from where that information are taken,
/var/lib/boinc-client/stdoutdae.txt I suppose, is still updated:

$ tail -2 /var/lib/boinc-client/stdoutdae.txt
28-Mar-2009 12:12:19 [einst...@home] Project file upload handler is missing
28-Mar-2009 12:12:19 [einst...@home] Backing off 20 min 13 sec on upload ...

but the messages in Messages stop at Mar 25.

If I exit boinc-manager and re-execute it, the log messages are displayed fine,
but then this problem reappears after some time (I'll keep open the problematic
boincmgr for some days to allow for debug, if you need it).

Thanks,
Sandro

Bug#521257: Use of uninitialized value in bitwise or (|) at /usr/share/lintian/lib/Lintian/Command.pm line 308.

2009-03-28 Thread Russ Allbery
Raphael Geissert atomo64+deb...@gmail.com writes:

This is what collection/file-index pipes to xargs which later calls
 file(1).

Oh, okay. I guess you're adding the newlines for readability?

Since unit_tests/virusaction-test.s does not exist file(1) fails which
returns the error code that later aborts the check of that package.

Right. Okay, I get it now. So for some reason we're still getting
truncated file names out of the pipeline that's generating the list of
files in the package, this time because there's no trailing newline. This
is only affecting the very last line of the index?

No, you are not. I've read multiple times the code in
unpack/unpack-src-l1 and see no reason why the generated index has no
trailing new line; I mean, sort adds it on its own even if missing!

 $ echo -n foo | hd
   66 6f 6f |foo|
 0003

 $ echo -n foo | sort | hd
   66 6f 6f 0a |foo.|
 0004

So, like I said: chomp workarounds the bug by simply not removing the
trailing character which in this case is *not* the, expected, line feed.

I think what had me confused was that I hadn't realized we were
specifically talking about the final line of the file.

Bug#521521: [udev] some additional informations

2009-03-28 Thread Matthias Heinz
Package: udev
Version: 0.140-1

--- Please enter the report below this line. ---

Hi,

i had some fun this morning, when no network device worked. My first thought
wasn't udev to blame, but the 2.6.29, because it has some code that can fsck
up the network.

Well, its udev and here are my observations.

First the original 70-persistent-net.rules, after udev 0.140 was started this
morning:

-
# PCI device 0x10de:0x0373 (forcedeth)
SUBSYSTEM==net, DRIVERS==?*, ATTRS{address}==00:17:31:8f:35:1d,
NAME=eth0

# Firewire device 0011d8ce1bda (ohci1394)
SUBSYSTEM==net, DRIVERS==?*, ATTRS{address}==00:11:d8:00:00:ce:1b:da,
NAME=eth2

# PCI device 0x10de:0x0373 (forcedeth)
SUBSYSTEM==net, DRIVERS==?*, ATTRS{address}==00:17:31:8f:44:80,

# USB device 0bda:8187 (rtl8187)
SUBSYSTEM==net, DRIVERS==?*, ATTR{address}==00:15:af:04:c4:f6,
ATTR{type}==1, NAME=wlan0

# PCI device 0x10de:0x0373 (forcedeth)
SUBSYSTEM==net, ACTION==add, DRIVERS==?*,
ATTR{address}==00:17:31:8f:35:1d, ATTR{type}==1, KERNEL==eth*,

# PCI device 0x10de:0x0373 (forcedeth)
SUBSYSTEM==net, ACTION==add, DRIVERS==?*,
ATTR{address}==00:17:31:8f:44:80, ATTR{type}==1, KERNEL==eth*,
NAME=eth4
-

Now the interessting part, i moved the file away and restarted udev.
As expected the rules file was regenerated but have a look at the device
names:

-
# PCI device 0x10de:0x0373 (forcedeth)
SUBSYSTEM==net, ACTION==add, DRIVERS==?*,
ATTR{address}==00:17:31:8f:35:1d, ATTR{type}==1, KERNEL==eth*,
NAME=eth3

# USB device 0x:0x (rtl8187)
SUBSYSTEM==net, ACTION==add, DRIVERS==?*,
ATTR{address}==00:15:af:04:c4:f6, ATTR{type}==1, KERNEL==wlan*,

# PCI device 0x10de:0x0373 (forcedeth)
SUBSYSTEM==net, ACTION==add, DRIVERS==?*,
ATTR{address}==00:17:31:8f:44:80, ATTR{type}==1, KERNEL==eth*,
NAME=eth4
-

They're still named eth3 and eth4.

Any idea why?

Best regards,
Matthias

Bug#521545: debootstrap: Failure while unpacking required package with --foreign debootstrap for sid in second stage

2009-03-28 Thread Junichi Uekawa
Package: debootstrap
Version: 1.0.12
Severity: normal

Today, debootstrap seems to die in second-stage with

W: Failure while unpacking required packages. This will be attempted up
to five times.

I do not seem to get any debugging message, so it's hard to understand what
might be wrong.

Bug#521546: [mesa] Transparency issues with DRI2

2009-03-28 Thread Alexander Hofbauer
Package: mesa
Version: 7.4
Severity: normal

Hi!

I've noticed that mesa 7.4 has been released and since rc1 has landed in
experimental I guess you will upload it in no time, right?

That said, could I ask you to cherry pick commit
66175aac7609ad314f25fbdff0d3958af310dc24 which fixes transparency
problems for me with DRI2 in compiz?

Thank you,
Alex

Sure, I've managed to build flightgear. It's just that the resulting

Bug#521138: mirror submission for ftp.tcc.edu.tw

2009-03-28 Thread rray ibm
hi simon:

Is that possible for you to make the archive available at the common
path /debian/ ? That avoid mistakes of users, and allow us to build
 redundant mirroring easier.
 http://ftp.tcc.edu.tw/debian/
 ftp://ftp.tcc.edu.tw/debian/

I wait for your reply about the path before adding the mirror to the
 list.

Because I fixed a large partition for Debian (debian and debian-cd),and hard
to depart them.

/dev/sdb3 839G 564G 275G 68% /home/ftp/Linux/Debian

Due to my filesystem table layout is planed. So I use alias in httpd protocol
,and use virtual directory in ftp protocol.

You can check it again.

http://ftp.tcc.edu.tw/debian/
ftp://ftp.tcc.edu.tw/debian/

I also make debian-cd directory
http://ftp.tcc.edu.tw/debian-cd/
ftp://ftp.tcc.edu.tw/debian-cd/

Hello,

udev does not ship the /sbin/udevsettle symlink anymore. Since the
Debian ChangeLog doesn't state any change regarding this, I'm not sure
whether this is intentional or not.
If you think this is intentional, please reassign/clone this bug to
mdadm, cryptsetup and lirc to switch to udevadm settle.

Bug#521551: dpkg-dev: support for different types of deprecation (MISSING, DEPRECATED, PRIVATE)

2009-03-28 Thread Modestas Vainius
Package: dpkg-dev
Version: 1.15.0
Severity: wishlist
Tags: patch

Hello,

when writing a tool which deals with C++ symbols, I found that feature like
this would be very useful. You will find the full description in the attached
patch header (also copypasted below). Just to give you an idea of the real
world usage for this:

MISSING - current use of deprecated symbols.
DEPRECATED - could be used for a few multiarch specific symbols which symbol
file preprocessor could turn into normal symbols under certain conditions.
(this is just an example, I know about that #include is different but limited
way to do it).
PRIVATE - C++ template instantiations and other exported private symbols
(i.e. those which cannot be found in the headers).

The patch is against current master branch. Patch description follows:
--
Up until now, all deprecated symbols were treated equally as MISSING.
DEPRECATED was a synomym of MISSING. This patch changes sematics of
DEPRECATED a bit and adds a new type - PRIVATE. Also types are
preserved between symbol file load() and dump(). Descriptions of the
deprecation types follow:

MISSING - the symbol is typically declared as MISSING if it can no longer
be found in the object file itself. If that symbol reappears
suddently, it gets undeprecated and its minimal version is
bumped to the current version of the object. MISSING symbols
are never removed from the symbols file automatically. MISSING
used to be a default deprecation type in the earlier versions of
dpkg, hence it is kept fully compatible.
DEPRECATED - it is similar to MISSING with the exception that if the
symbol reappears, its minimal version is kept as it is
instead of being bumped. DEPRECATED could be used to mark
symbols as optional for whatever the reason. dpkg-gensymbols
will still display reappearing DEPRECATED symbols in the diff
 as it does with MISSING.
PRIVATE - useful for marking private symbols which have been falsely
exported to the dynamic symbol table by the compiler (e.g. C++).
Private symbols are optional, they stay deprecated even if the
object file actually have them and they get automatically removed
from the symbol file when they disappear from the object file.

DEPRECATED and PRIVATE are for manual or for 3rd party tool use.
Dpkg::Shlibs::SymbolFile never changes symbol type to DEPRECATED or PRIVATE.
It only marks symbols as MISSING as needed.

The patch also adds 'export_private' option to dump() which allows to dump
private symbols as normal ones (defaults to OFF). dpkg-gensymbols enables
this option when exporting symbols files to DEBIAN/symbols but disables
it when diff'ing.
---

Also current master needs the fix below for man/po/de.po to build:

diff --git a/man/po/de.po b/man/po/de.po

Bug#521408: samba: W2k3 replies with NT_STATUS_INVALID_SID, even if other SIDs in the list are valid.

2009-03-28 Thread Christian Perrier
Quoting wy...@volny.cz (wy...@volny.cz):

I'm not in position to check upstream's BTS, but I guess this is fixed
   in 3.3.*, right?

No, i don't think so. But will be included in next samba release.

It seems like everybody is trying to make us fix each and every bug
found after 3.2.5slowly turning it into a fake 3.2.8...:-)

My IQ led me to think myself, that if there is a bug, it should be fixed.
But now i understand why the bug graph for stable only grows. Nobody
is willing to fix stable and when there is enough bugs for stable, it's
right time for new stable with just few bugs :-))

That is not exactly true.

The Debian way to do things is to keep stable stable..:-). So, we
generally fix release critical and important-enough bugs in
stable. Most teams even only fix release critical bugs.

When it comes at samba, we already did two updates to lenny packages,
fixing 4 bugs that were judged as important. That's why, in the case
of this very bug, we need to figure out its impact on users, to decide
whether we fix it or not...

What lead to my remark is seeing the quite high number of bugs that
are reported while their reporters know they're fixed in pos-3.2.5 releases...

If that bug is really severity normal, I don't really see enough
reasons to tag it for lenny.

It's fine for me not to fix it. I've read how to make own package and
 made patched one.

What would be interesting is your input about the *potential* impact
on users.

I'd like to get more rationale to convince me that this is worth
trying to fix this in lenny.

I'm not going to do that. Severity is probably not higher than normal.

PS: If sombody got pissed off by my second paragraph - sorry. It was
just a stupid sarcasm. I'm satisfied Debian user and appreciate that
so many peoples gives their spare time for such a good OS as Debian
 is.

No problem. We like Debian users who report bugs. Sometime we mumble a
little because we don't like too many bug reports at the same time,
but that's fine..:-)

2009-03-28 Thread Rico Rommel
Hi,

i noticed, that /dev/dri/card0 isn't created anymore (maybe a udev-140
problem?).

I created a static device /lib/udev/devices/dri/card0 and it worked for me.

cd /lib/udev/devices
mkdir dri
mknod dir/card0 c 226 0

A reboot or restart of udev is needed.

This fails several of the DFSG:

There is no source code so it breaks the Source Code requirement. The byte

some source code (which is not provided).

Bug#521555: egroupware-core: broken dependencies

Package: egroupware
Version: 1.4.004-2.dfsg-4.1
Severity: normal

Pasting current dependencies:

Package: egroupware-core
Architecture: all
Depends: apache2,

 php5-pgsql | php5-mysql | php5-odbc,
 php-fpdf (= 1.53.dfsg-3), php5-gd, php-log, php-pear,
 egroupware-egw-pear,

The , after libapache2-mod-php5 should be a | (pipe).
The current dependencies won't let me remove libapache2-mod-php5
from the system and use php5-cli/cgi instead e.g. fastcgi or suphp.

Kind regards

I found that there was /debootstrap/debootstrap.log, which contained
useful error messages from dpkg. I think this bugreport should be
closed now that I have found the problem lies somewhere else.
However, it would be nice if /debootstrap/debootstrap.log is
documented somewhere, or '--verbose' option did something useful, or
debootstrap gave me any error message in console.

I filed #521549 for this specific bug:

The generated C++ code is correct. The compiler I was using (gcc 3.3.3

it work... Retrying with a more recent one (gcc 4.3 from a fedora)
works fine. So I reckon only my patch is needed.

Hi,

I'm using rescue version of the live image. One thing I'm missing

It also seems to contains some things I don't expect on a

Bug#518835: grub-pc doesn't boot.

2009-03-28 Thread Kurt Roeckx
I've just booted it from a live-cd to see what is going on.

I already had grub-pc installed before, and it was working
perfectly. I upgraded from grub-pc and grub-common to
1.96+20080724-10 to 1.96+20090317-1. I do not have grub
installed.

My menu entries in both the menu when I boot and grub.cfg
contains things like:
menuentry Debian GNU/Linux, linux 2.6.26-1-686 {
set root=(hd0,1)
search --fs-uuid --set a80983a5-e4ca-4dc2-80c7-c0f5d1a1364e
linux /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.26-1-686
root=UUID=a80983a5-e4ca-4dc2-80c7-c0f5d1a1364e ro vga=0x305
initrd /boot/initrd.img-2.6.26-1-686
}

menu.lst still exists and contains things like:
title Debian GNU/Linux, kernel 2.6.24-1-686
root(hd0,0)
kernel /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.24-1-686 root=/dev/hda1 ro video:intelfb
vga=0x305
initrd /boot/initrd.img-2.6.24-1-686

Note that menu.lst hasn't been touched since 19 feb 2008, when
I installed grub-pc, and contains old kernels.

Anyway, when booting, I get the message:
=
  Booting 'Debian GNU/Linux, linux 2.6.26-1-686'

error: unknown command `initrd'

Press any key to continue...
=

If I edit the entry to remove the initrd line, and then try to
boot, instead I get:
=
  Booting a command list

error: unknown command `linux'

Press any key to continue...
=

this is just short note, that I can reproduce this problem and had to
downgrade sqlite to get evolution working. With the newer sqlite version
 evolution crashed.

SQLite hit unstable and got updated on my system. Evolution crashes and
downgrading solved it for me.

Two people reported this problem when this was in experimental. I hope
this will not get ignored for testing. Therefore I am raising the
severity.

Just NMU it?

Josip,

It is awfully intrusive for an NMU but if you don't mind, I can do that.

Bug#518720: futur release 3.7.0 will allow to specify normalize command

2009-03-28 Thread Gilles Mocellin
I've been contacted by the upstream author (Felix Suwald).
He gives me a pre-version of the upcoming 3.7.0 which permits to specify
the normalize command.

As soon as this release will be available, Debian should take it and
specify in README.Debian to configure the normalize command with
normalize-audio.

If it's possible, it can configure normcmd by default in /etc/ripit/config.

At worst, we can patch the program to use normalize-audio by defaut...

Bug#521562: dh_installinit: please parse LSB headers

2009-03-28 Thread Guido Günther
Package: debhelper
Version: 7.2.6
Severity: wishlist

Hi,
I'd be nice if dh_installinit would parse the information of LSB headers
so that:

dh_installinit --lsb-headers --name=foo

would do the right thing: generating an update-rc.d call that creates
startup links in the runlevels given by the Default-Start and
Default-Stop headers at default start priority 20 and stop priority 80
(update-rc.d's defaults).

So an LSB header like:

### BEGIN INIT INFO
# Provides: ipmasq-kmod
# Required-Start:
# Required-Stop:
# Default-Start: S
# Default-Stop:
# Short-Description: load kernel modules for ipmasq.

Would generate an update-rc.d call in the postinst:

update-rc.d ipmasq-kmod start 20 S .

Cheers,
-- Guido

Bug#521557: live-initramfs: Include gpm

2009-03-28 Thread Daniel Baumann
reassign 521557 live-helper
tags 521557 +pending
thanks

Kurt Roeckx wrote:
 Package: live-initramfs

wrong package, please report *build* time issues against live-helper.

I'm using rescue version of the live image. One thing I'm missing
 is gpm.

added, thanks.

It also seems to contains some things I don't expect on a
rescue image, like a dhcp server

iirc, dhcp-server is disabled, so that's not a problem.

 or sysstat.

what's wrong with that?

Regards,
Daniel

2009-03-28 Thread Guido Günther
Hi,
this patch additionally adds LSB headers to ipamsq-kmod (not only
ipmasq). Daniel, can we get a new version uploaded please?
Cheers,
