Bug#648277: [ITR] templates://guacamole/{guacamole-tomcat.templates}

2011-11-13 Thread Christian PERRIER
Dear Debian maintainer,

The Debian internationalisation team and the Debian English
localisation team will soon begin the review of the debconf
templates used in guacamole.

This review takes place for all packages that use debconf to interact with
users and its aims are:
- to improve the use of English in all debconf templates;
- to make the wording of debconf templates more consistent;
- to encourage more translations of templates.

Even if your first language is English, this process is likely to help
track down typos or errors, and improve consistency between the
debconf templates of your package and that of other packages in the
distribution.

The process involves both debian-l10n-english contributors and
Debian translators.

The details of the process are given in
http://wiki.debian.org/I18n/SmithDebconfReviewProcess.

I will act as the coordinator of this activity for guacamole.

The first step of the process is to review the debconf source
template file(s) of guacamole. This review will start on Thursday, November 17,
2011, or
as soon as you acknowledge this mail with an agreement for us to
carry out this process.

All parts of the process will be carried out in close collaboration
with you, and, unless you explicitely ask for it, no upload nor NMU
will happen for guacamole.

If you approve this process, please let us know by replying to this
mail. If some work in progress on your side would conflict with such a
rewrite (such as adding or removing debconf templates), please say so,
and we will defer the review to later in the development cycle.

Thank you for your attention.

Is this really still worthwhile? The last I read was that it is to be
replaced by qemu qdisk.

Bug#648241: [ITR] templates://ngircd/{ngircd.templates}

2011-11-13 Thread Christian PERRIER
Dear Debian maintainer,

The Debian internationalisation team and the Debian English
localisation team will soon begin the review of the debconf
templates used in ngircd.

This review takes place for all packages that use debconf to interact with
users and its aims are:
- to improve the use of English in all debconf templates;
- to make the wording of debconf templates more consistent;
- to encourage more translations of templates.

Even if your first language is English, this process is likely to help
track down typos or errors, and improve consistency between the
debconf templates of your package and that of other packages in the
distribution.

The process involves both debian-l10n-english contributors and
Debian translators.

The details of the process are given in
http://wiki.debian.org/I18n/SmithDebconfReviewProcess.

I will act as the coordinator of this activity for ngircd.

The first step of the process is to review the debconf source
template file(s) of ngircd. This review will start on Thursday, November 17,
2011, or
as soon as you acknowledge this mail with an agreement for us to
carry out this process.

All parts of the process will be carried out in close collaboration
with you, and, unless you explicitely ask for it, no upload nor NMU
will happen for ngircd.

If you approve this process, please let us know by replying to this
mail. If some work in progress on your side would conflict with such a
rewrite (such as adding or removing debconf templates), please say so,
and we will defer the review to later in the development cycle.

Thank you for your attention.

Bug#646747: [BTS#646747] templates://spotweb/{spotweb.templates} : Final update for English review

2011-11-13 Thread Christian PERRIER
Dear Debian maintainer,

On Monday, October 31, 2011, I notified you of the beginning of a review process
concerning debconf templates for spotweb.

The debian-l10n-english contributors have now reviewed these templates,
and the final proposed changes are attached to this update to the
original bug report.

Please review the suggested changes, and if you have any
objections, let me know in the next 3 days.

However, please try to avoid uploading spotweb with these changes
right now.

The second phase of this process will begin on Thursday, November 17, 2011,
when I will
coordinate updates to translations of debconf templates.

The existing translators will be notified of the changes: they will
receive an updated PO file for their language.

Simultaneously, a general call for new translations will be sent to
the debian-i18n mailing list.

Both these calls for translations will request updates to be sent as
individual bug reports. That will probably trigger a lot of bug
reports against your package, but these should be easier to deal with.

The call for translation updates and new translations will run until
about Thursday, December 08, 2011. Please avoid uploading a package with fixed
or changed
debconf templates and/or translation updates in the meantime. Of
course, other changes are safe.

Please note that this is an approximative delay, which depends on my
own availability to process this work and is influenced by the fact
that I simultaneously work on many packages.

Around Friday, December 09, 2011, I will contact you again and will send a
final patch
summarizing all the updates (changes to debconf templates,
updates to debconf translations and new debconf translations).

Again, thanks for your attention and cooperation.

Bug#645850: lxc package debconf templates

2011-11-13 Thread Christian PERRIER
reopen 645850
thanks

This bug was closed with 0.7.5-6 upload but I have to say that I'm
really not enthusiast about what happened (in French we call this an
euphemism).

The changelog says:

  * Applying some of the suggestions from the "reviewed" control file
from debian-l10n-english (Closes: #645850).
  * Applying some of the suggestions from the "reviewed" templates
file from debian-l10n-english.
  * Updating German debconf translations.

As a result, here are the statistics for debconf translations:

cs :Charset is utf-8. Stats: cs.po: 1 translated message, 14 fuzzy
translations, 26 untranslated messages.
da :Charset is UTF-8. Stats: da.po: 1 translated message, 14 fuzzy
translations, 26 untranslated messages.
de :Charset is UTF-8. Stats: de.po: 41 translated messages.
es :Charset is UTF-8. Stats: es.po: 1 translated message, 14 fuzzy
translations, 26 untranslated messages.
fr :Charset is UTF-8. Stats: fr.po: 1 translated message, 14 fuzzy
translations, 26 untranslated messages.
pt :Charset is UTF-8. Stats: pt.po: 14 translated messages, 17 fuzzy
translations, 10 untranslated messages.
ru :Charset is UTF-8. Stats: ru.po: 1 translated message, 14 fuzzy
translations, 26 untranslated messages.
sv :Charset is utf-8. Stats: sv.po:6: header field `Project-Id-Version' still
has the initial default value
sv.po: 1 translated message, 14 fuzzy translations, 26 untranslated messages.
zh_CN :Charset is UTF-8. Stats: zh_CN.po: 1 translated message, 14 fuzzy
translations, 26 untranslated messages.

As you see, only German is complete, mostly because it was done by
Daniel (I assume without review on debian-l10n-german as it is very
well known that maintainers know better their language than
translators).

I don't really see which of the reviewed templates have been applied,
but when I see this remaining in templates:

_Description: Linux Container: enable setup for LXC?
Linux Container can do all the necessary modifications needed within a
container to make it work with LXC. Do you want to proceed?
 .
 If unsure, choose no (default).

...I am sure that nearly none of our suggestions were applied. As a
consequence, we're still left with:
- inconsistent use of case
- questions in long descriptions
- reference to user interface in templates ("choose no")
- reference to defaults

So, indeed, as a very short summary, the suggestions we made in the
review were not followed and, therefore, this bug should be reopened.

As another consequence, the work done by translators other than German
ones is currently wasted.

Maybe some misunderstanding happened, or maybe something in the final
patch I sent didn't really apply cleanly, I don't know. But, indeed,
we should restart this work.

Daniel, was something broken in the review I sent to you?

128 MB is all the memory that my openmoko phone has. But don't worry,
I've already switched to lighter browsers like elinks, midori and
chromium ;-)

Package: fonts-nanum-coding
Version: 2.0-2
Severity: minor

In 90-fonts-nanum-coding.conf, there's some fonts for fallback.
NanumGothic has same shape with NanumGothicCoding, so it must be at the top of
fallback list.
So, I think this line must be add at line 23.

  NanumGothic

Bug#648690: Package lists include removed and transitional Linux kernel packages

2011-11-13 Thread Ben Hutchings
Package: debian-cd
Version: 3.1.7
Severity: important
Tags: patch

Please make the following changes to tools/generate_di+k_list and
tasks/wheezy/interesting-fromcd23:

1. Remove linux-image-686; this is a transitional metapackage not
   needed in new installations.
2. Remove *-modules-*; these packages have been removed and were not
   even present in squeeze.
3. Drop the '-2.6' suffix from linux-image and linux-headers
metapackage names; the former packages are transitional.

I attach a patch covering these.

Ben.

Please don't open a new bug report if you disagree with closing of
another. We can always reopen that.

If I understand you correctly, usbhid can bind to the trackpad device
and should not. Since usbhid is a class device (it works with most USB
'human interface' devices, but not necessarily covering all their
features) we would need to add this device to a blacklist to prevent it
from doing that. We will *not* fix this by making any driver built-in!

Please send the 'lsusb' output for this system, and the content of
'/sys/devices/virtual/dmi/id/product_name'.

Ben.

Bug#648688: emacs23-lucid: package description is unhelpful

2011-11-13 Thread Jonathan Nieder
Package: emacs23-lucid
Version: 23.3+1-4
Severity: minor
X-Debbugs-Cc: debian-l10n-engl...@lists.debian.org

Hi,

"apt-cache show emacs23-lucid" tells me:

| Description: The GNU Emacs editor
| GNU Emacs is the extensible self-documenting text editor.
| This package contains a version of Emacs with a Lucid user interface.

But what is a Lucid user interface? Presumably it means "the user
interface offered by emacs23-lucid", which is still unhelpful.

The changelog.Debian.gz tells me it is "an emacsVER-lucid package for
those who still want the non-GTK+ version" --- that is, the UI

 (1) looks like old emacs
 (2) does not use GTK+

--- which seem like useful data for a person deciding whether to
install it.

The reader is also curious about the relationship, if any, to Lucid,
Inc.

Thanks,
Jonathan

Also the

Bug#485977: any progress here?

2011-11-13 Thread Antoine Beaupré
I have done a lot of changes to the package, and uploaded a test version
to experimental. I'd love to get feedback on it.

I have tried to simplify the Debian package and use more of the upstream
goods, but I may have screwed up and lost some pieces of functionality
in the package...

If anyone can test this...

A.

OK, I suppose I don't actually care what rotational shows for a
device-mapper device backed by rotating media. The case I care about:
when the underlying media has rotational=0, the dm device definitely
shouldn't have rotational=1.

Bug#648686: Bug in bonding_err_ plugin

2011-11-13 Thread Jim Barber
Package: munin-node
Version: 1.4.6-1
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

I rebooted a system that was using kernel 2.6.32 into one running kernel 3.0.0
After that the /usr/share/munin/plugins/bonding_err_ plugin stopped working.
Here is an example of the results returned.

$ telnet localhost munin
Trying ::1...
Connected to localhost.
Escape character is '^]'.
# munin node at wwvrt01.nsw.ddihealth.com
fetch bonding_err_bond0
if_eth0.value if_eth1.value if_eth2.value if_eth3.value
.

The code for this plugin contains the following line:

grep -A 2 "^Slave Interface: ${if}" ${PROCDIR}/${BONDINGIF} | grep
"Link Failure Count:" | cut -d " " -f 4

The 'grep -A 2' only returns two lines after the matched line.
So for eth0 (which is part of bond0) I get the following results when just
running the grep:

$ grep -A 2 "^Slave Interface: eth0" /proc/net/bonding/bond0
Slave Interface: eth0
MII Status: up
Speed: 100 Mbps

Those lines don't contian the 'Link Failure Count:' line that grep looks for in
the pipeline.
The full set of entries for interfaces that form the bond0 device look as
follows:

Slave Interface: eth0
MII Status: up
Speed: 100 Mbps
Duplex: full
Link Failure Count: 0
Permanent HW addr: 00:1b:21:71:9a:f0
Aggregator ID: 4
Slave queue ID: 0

Slave Interface: eth1
MII Status: up
Speed: 100 Mbps
Duplex: full
Link Failure Count: 0
Permanent HW addr: 00:1b:21:71:9a:f1
Aggregator ID: 4
Slave queue ID: 0

Slave Interface: eth2
MII Status: up
Speed: 100 Mbps
Duplex: full
Link Failure Count: 0

Speed: 100 Mbps
Duplex: full
Link Failure Count: 0
Permanent HW addr: 00:1b:21:71:9a:f5
Aggregator ID: 4
Slave queue ID: 0

Instead of 'grep -A 2' it should instead match all the lines from the 'Slave
Interface:' line up to the next blank line or EOF.
This way it'll work no matter the order of the lines nor how many get added in
the future.
I have achieved this by using sed instead of grep.
I've replaced:
grep -A 2 "^Slave Interface: ${if}" ${PROCDIR}/${BONDINGIF} | grep
"Link Failure Count:" | cut -d " " -f 4
With:
sed "0,/^Slave Interface: ${if}/d; /^\$/,\$d" ${PROCDIR}/${BONDINGIF} |
grep "Link Failure Count:" | cut -d " " -f 4

Or in patch form it is as follows:

--- bonding_err_.orig 2011-11-14 12:42:18.332577791 +1100
+++ bonding_err_2011-11-14 12:44:24.594788291 +1100

+ sed "0,/^Slave Interface: ${if}/d; /^\$/,\$d" ${PROCDIR}/${BONDINGIF} | grep

 done

After making this change, the results are now returned.

# telnet localhost munin

Bug#647535: cheese: Wrong colours and artefacts on image

I'm also experiencing this bug. One of the suggestions in the Ubuntu bug
report was to try a libv4l-0 from a libv4l PPA and that indeed solved
the problem for me too.

I then went to compare the PPA's libv4l with the Debian one; to my
surprise, the source packages were (almost) identical. After having a
closer look, it seems that the Debian package (and, presumably, Ubuntu's
Oneiric binaries) are built against libjpeg8, while the PPA one against
libjpeg62.

It seems that libv4lconvert uses libjpeg and the libjpeg62->libjpeg8
transition messed it up. I have no idea, however, if it's libjpeg8's
fault or if the callers (libv4lconvert? cheese?) are misusing it, esp.
since the bug seems to affect some applications and not others (like
gstreamer-properties) and only at certain resolutions.

Therefore, I'm just Cc'ing all the relevant maintainers and hope that
you work it out :-)

Best regards,
Faidon

While I don't know about dm-crypt specifically, that issue should be
fixed in 3.2~rc1:

Bug#582090: ITP: viewnior -- simple, fast and elegant image viewer

2011-11-13 Thread Yao Wei
It seems nice to have a helper who also wants to get this into debian. However,
the package dependency makes it more complex to do so.

It uses a modified version of gtkimageview which is done by the author itself,
but the library is needed to be stripped out of viewnior to get into Debian for
maintenance reasons, and viewnior's author doesn't like to do so.

Paul Liu (a DD which seems can help us sponsor uploading this package) suggests
we should contact gtkimageview author to incorporate the library changes from
viewnior, but I don't know the way how should we do, and I am too
unconcerntrate on this ITP.

Help me,
Yao Wei

Bug#648681: ITP: Liero -- An earthworm simulation game based on a real physical model

2011-11-13 Thread Martin Erik Werner
Package: wnpp
Version: N/A; reported 2011-11-14
Severity: wishlist

* Package name : liero
Version : 1.35b2+hg20100123.1
Upstream Author : Erik Lindroos "gliptic" and "basro"
* URL : http://www.liero.be/ http://code.google.com/p/liero/
* License : BSD-2-Clause
Description :
Liero is a wormgame with weapons for 2 players. The object of the game
is definately what you think it is. Liero is excellent for taking out
aggression and kicking buddies' butts without any real physical
violence or just for having fun.

In 2009, the classic Liero 1.33 was merged with the revival project
called OpenLiero and became Liero 1.34. The current version is 1.35b2,
and while keeping Liero 1.33 intact, it has been given a semi-hidden
extra menu (accessible with F1), which allows players to among other
things record replays of their games.

This package is only the game engine, game content will be packaged as
liero-data in non-free (though hopefully the binary content will be
wtfpl of similar). It build-depends on gvl, which will be packaged
separately.

I'm not sure that's true. Since their queues should feed into the
queues for the underlying devices, it may be that they shouldn't
themselves be scheduled as if they are rotating media.

I do wonder whether rotational should still be the default - almost all
real disks are handled by a small number of drivers like sd, while there
is a wide variety of networked, stacked and virtual disk drivers in use.

It's because they're set by configure already. I also considered
setting LDFLAGS and CPPFLAGS on the commandline alongside CFLAGS
instead, but bash's Makefile.in is not designed to allow overriding
LDFLAGS on the command line (whereas overriding LDFLAGS in configure
works well).

Bug#599768: [PATCH] toshiba_acpi: backlight broken after resume.

2011-11-13 Thread Niv Sardi

Hi,

this was first sent to debian as bug 599768, but Ben Hutchings
recommended sending it to you guys too.

anyway, the drill: backlight on my R800 laptop works fine until I
suspend it, then, /sys/class/backlight/* doesn't change anything
anymore.

This patch is taken from the old toshset tool (that. btw. seems to
document a few HCI commands we're not using in the toshiba_acpi code,
maybe interesting to have a look), and the important part is the code
that sets HCI_LCD_BRIGHTNESS in set_lcd.

after this patch, backlight works through
/sys/class/backlight/toshiba/brightness but for some reason the keys
(that are still detected) don't trigger any backlight change (or call of
set_lcd), ... and I really don't know how to debug that. (they still get
to me in the .notify callback, but I fail to find documentation on the
link between that and get_lcd...

(do I need to call backlight_device_register() or something along the
lines of the sparse_keymap code on resume ?)

anyway, I understand this patch is nowhere near ready for inclusion, but
I send it in order to see if it gives someone a clue to fix this
longstanding issue with toshiba backlights.

thanks,

>From 16cdcbb36dafb4c01cb040284f6424d13e94cce3 Mon Sep 17 00:00:00 2001
From: Niv Sardi
Date: Sun, 13 Nov 2011 19:28:05 -0430
Subject: [PATCH 2/2] toshiba_acpi: implement and use HCI_BACKLIGHT,

this is mostly taken from the old toshset code, it seems to partially
fix the bug where toshiba backlight is broken after suspend. (getting:
ACPI: can't set backlight, in dmesg.)

this makes /sys/class/backlight/toshiba/brightness work but for some
reason after suspend the events are still recieved (they get printed
out on the .notify handler), but they don't trigger backlight
code. (result beeing that the backlight keys DO NOT work but, setting
/sys/class/backlight/toshiba/brightness DOES).

this is hackish and needs clean up, but does solve part of the issue.

I should have asked this earlier, but can you send the output of
'ethtool eth0' from one of the kernel versions with this problem?

I'm not confident that this is guaranteed to give the same results in all
cases as calling gcc directly. Certainly with autoconf, passing
--host + --build results in cross-compiling behavior even when not
cross-compiling, but I don't know how much of this is due to autoconf itself
vs. the compiler invocation.

As long as you're changing these options, you might as well fix them to be
autotools-compliant (i.e., passing --host *only* when cross-compiling, and
--build always).

could probably do with some rationale why it's ok for these to be removed.

Yes, I get the same thing. Not sure what the cause is.

> Dunno what to do.

Adding "#include " to the top of relevant files and putting

std::cerr << "here is some state: " << state << "\n";

at points of interest works. And it's kind of pleasant --- it forces
one to stare at code between runs.

No conclusions yet. Looks like the failure happens in
src/crypto/nss_util.cc, function EnsureNSSInit():

void EnsureNSSInit() {
// Initializing SSL causes us to do blocking IO.
// Temporarily allow it until we fix
  //   http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=59847
  base::ThreadRestrictions::ScopedAllowIO allow_io;

  std::cerr << "This is printed.\n";

  g_nss_singleton.Get();

  std::cerr << "This is not printed.\n";
}

g_nss_singleton is declared as follows:

base::LazyInstance >
g_nss_singleton(base::LINKER_INITIALIZED);

The next step is to dig into the NSSInitSingleton constructor,
presumably.

Bug#599768: patch

2011-11-13 Thread Niv Sardi
found 599768 3.1.0-1
tags 599768 +patch

Bug still found in latest kernel (3.1.0), quite annoying, you can find
attached a hack that goes out into making it work, for some reason, the
keys still don't work on resume.

patch:
http://core.evilgiggle.com/~xaiki/hacks/toshiba_acpi/0002-toshiba_acpi-implement-and-use-HCI_BACKLIGHT.patch

>From 16cdcbb36dafb4c01cb040284f6424d13e94cce3 Mon Sep 17 00:00:00 2001
From: Niv Sardi
Date: Sun, 13 Nov 2011 19:28:05 -0430
Subject: [PATCH 2/2] toshiba_acpi: implement and use HCI_BACKLIGHT,

this is mostly taken from the old toshset code, it seems to partially
fix the bug where toshiba backlight is broken after suspend. (getting:
ACPI: can't set backlight, in dmesg.)

this makes /sys/class/backlight/toshiba/brightness work but for some
reason after suspend the events are still recieved (they get printed
out on the .notify handler), but they don't trigger backlight
code. (result beeing that the backlight keys DO NOT work but, setting
/sys/class/backlight/toshiba/brightness DOES).

this is hackish and needs clean up, but does solve part of the issue.

Bug#621710: qemu-system-sparc/sparc64: does not boot with Debian Installer

2011-11-13 Thread Al Viro
As far as I can see, what's happening here is some kind of mess

BTW, without -nographic it just sits in there after "Jumping to entry point";

IOW, the same breakage. Despite the similar commit messages the latter
has different images in it.

Summary: some r640 openbios-sparc32 images barf, including one in
openbios-sparc package and one included into qemu git repository on
0.12 branch. One on qemu.git master (and, presumably, later side branches)
appears to be OK. For qemu-system-sparc on squeeze that's irrelevant,
though - what matters is /usr/share/openbios/openbios-sparc32 contents,
which comes from openbios-sparc instead of qemu; qemu-system puts a
symlink to it into /usr/share/qemu/openbios-sparc32 and that's where
it gets picked from.

AFAIK, "Guice team doesn't wish to apply" [1] some patches of sisu-guice

2011-11-13 Thread cfr
Package: midori
Version: 0.4.1-2
Severity: normal

Open many tabs including some for sites which want to be very wide.

The window width ends up greatly exceeding the screen width. (There is
never any horizontal scroll in Midori so maybe it is an attempt to
address that?)

It is then not possible to view pages correctly.

It is then not possible to resize the window manually horizontally -
only vertically.

2011-11-13 Thread J.Pietschmann
Package: ocsinventory-server
Version: 2.0.2-2
Severity: important
Tags: upstream

Dear Maintainer,

the ocsinventory server wont work with fusioninventory-agent since the upgrade
to 2.0 in wheezy, this includes the
fusioninventory-agent 2.1.10-1 in wheezy. The agent gets a 400 "Bad Request"
when accessing
http://localhost/ocsinventory, ocsinventory logs
 127.0.0.1;FusionInventory-Agent_v2.1.10;useragent;Bad agent or agent version
too recent for server !!

The reason is probably an regression in the upstream code when checking the
agent for validity in
/usr/share/perl5/Apache/Ocsinventory/Server/Useragent.pm, sub
useragent_prolog_read
A proper fix is probably to extend %ocsagents with an entry for
FusionInventory-Agent.

I worked around the problem by using a hook in
/etc/oscinventory/ocsinventory.conf:
 PerlSetEnv OCS_OPT_EXT_USERAGENTS_FILE_PATH "/etc/ocsinventory/ext-useragents"
and put FusionInventory-Agent_v2.1.10 in there

Bug#648673: gconf2: GConf Error in Emacs and Liferea (D-BUS error)

2011-11-13 Thread Vincent Lefevre
Package: gconf2
Version: 3.2.3-1
Severity: grave

After the gconf2 upgrade, I get the following error when I run Emacs:

GConf Error: Configuration server couldn't be contacted: D-BUS error: Method
"GetDefaultDatabase" with signature "" on interface "org.gnome.GConf.Server"
doesn't exist

There doesn't seem to be any serious problem with Emacs, though.

Ditto with Liferea, but this is more serious, as the configuration
is not read.

Bug#648672: libprotobuf-java: Maven repo POMs should be installed without reference to parent POM

2011-11-13 Thread Jakub Adam

Package: libprotobuf-java
Version: 2.4.1-1
Severity: normal
Tags: patch

Hi,

when I try to compile JGit library that depends on libprotobuf-java, Maven fails
with following error:

[INFO] Error building POM (may not be this project's POM).

Project ID: com.google.protobuf:protobuf-java:jar:debian

Reason: Cannot find parent: com.google:google for project: com.google.protobuf:protobuf-java:jar:debian for project
com.google.protobuf:protobuf-java:jar:debian

This is because POM files installed with libprotobuf-java are referencing a
nonexistent
parent POM. These references should be stripped, simple patch that fixes the
problem is attached.

Ok, the problem is that I don't have multitouch support because the
bcm5974 module is not being loaded.

A few weeks before I've builded a custom kernel from upstream, the
3.1-rc7 version with those config params as I wrote earlier and
multitouch support worked like a charm.

I've tried loading the module with "modprobe bcm5974" but nothing happened

Bug#648671: rdfind: Cryptic and arguably useless error message when files can not be deleted

2011-11-13 Thread Richard Hartmann
Package: rdfind
Version: 1.3.0-1
Severity: normal

If a file is mode & owner 644 root:root, trying to delete it results in:

Rdutil.cc: Failed to apply function f on it.

At the least, rdfind should inform the user that it lacks permission to
delete the file. Adding its name would be nice, too.

Ideally, rdfind would error out/warn earlier so the user can spare
him/herself waiting for the process to finish. Alternatively, it could
append files that should be deleted but weren't to the results file.

Bug#648670: xm was unable determine an actual domU state under some conditions

2011-11-13 Thread Moonwalker
Package: xen-utils-4.1
Version: 4.1.1-3

I have an HVM domU which was created with xen-utils-4.0 (and Xen 4.0 hypervisor
of course). Recently I've upgraded to Xen 4.1 and xen-utils-4.1, but after a
reboot I was unable to do anything with it: "xm start" caused "Domain is
already running" error, while "xm shutdown" simply hadn't printed any error
messages, only "Error:", "xm destroy" did nothing without any output.
In "xm list" output the domU had no ID and state values just like it wasn't
started.

# xm reset test

The only reasonable message was in xend.log, appears when I tried to shutdown
the domU:

Bug#648669: libgeronimo-jpa-2.0-spec-java: triangular dependency

2011-11-13 Thread Bill Allombert
Package: libgeronimo-jpa-2.0-spec-java
Version: 1.1-2
Severity: important

Hello Debian Java Maintainers,

There is a circular dependency between libgeronimo-jpa-2.0-spec-java,
libgeronimo-osgi-support-java and libosgi-compendium-java:

libgeronimo-jpa-2.0-spec-java :Depends: libgeronimo-osgi-support-java
libgeronimo-osgi-support-java :Depends: libosgi-compendium-java
libosgi-compendium-java :Depends: libgeronimo-jpa-2.0-spec-java

Complex circular dependencies are known to cause problems during upgrade, so we
should try to get rid of them.

See threads

Thank you, I found the reason - both bug reports seem to point to the
same problem. It does not show up when all dependencies of texlive-base
are installed in the same aptitude or dpkg run, only when they are
configured first and texlive-base is unpacked afterwards.

And of course it is in my new libpaper'ing code...

A fix is in svn, I'll upload soon.

Bug#648666: May fail to restart due to stale .ICEauthority lock

2011-11-13 Thread Ben Hutchings
Package: gdm3
Version: 3.0.4-3
Severity: important

I had to reboot the system after hitting a bug in the graphics driver
that left the screen blank. I rebooted by pressing (not holding) the
power button so that there was a more-or-less normal shutdown; but
it's possible that the X server hung and gdm3 was not shut down
cleanly.

On the next boot, gdm3 displayed the 'wait' cursor for a few seconds;
then it displayed an error dialog with the message 'Could not update
ICEauthority file /var/lib/gdm/.ICEauthority' and only action button
'Log Out'. I removed /var/lib/gdm/.ICEauthority* and was then able to
restart gdm3 succesfully.

Ben.

It's been a while, but I finally managed a full rebuild of gtk+ and all its
dependencies using mingw-w64, and it doesn't fix the problem - I still get

err:module:attach_process_dlls "libpt.2.10.2.dll" failed to initialize,
aborting

so there's something else involved, beyond using mingw32-built DLLs with a
mingw-w64-built program.

Have you had any more luck than me?

Stephen

No, no, please let me clarify here.
I actually installed it today, as aptitude's output confirmed.

I tried it back on April, before filing the bug report.
Since it didn't seem to help, I thought it was unrelated with my bug,
and purged it.

Would you mind to install the package libgtk2.0-0-dbg and to redo the
stack backtraces then once again? This would be quite helpful. Also a
dump of all local variables within the stack frames would be fine, so
can you please generate the backtrace using the gdb command 'bt full'?

Thanks in advance for your efforts.

Bug#648665: kopete: Cannot connect to WLM accounts

2011-11-13 Thread Eloi Notario
Package: kopete
Version: 4:4.6.5-3
Severity: normal
Tags: upstream

Since a few days Kopete is unable to connect to my WLM account, it stucks on
"Connecting" although the icon is colorized as connected. I have created a new
testing account and although it appeared as "connected", after adding the first
contact and reconnecting the same behaviour happens.

As for Debian bug report #648080 on package kmess (another WLM client), WLM
servers may respond to the contact list petition with a redirect, whih broke
that software. As an empty buddy list does not stall Kopete on connecting
status, I suspect the cause may be the same.

Debian bug on kmess: http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=648080

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
Connect to any WLM account with at least one contact.

Actual Results:
Stalls at "Connecting...", does not complete login.

Expected Results:
Successfully logging in and allow chatting.

Ia32-libs gets verry irregular updates so that is a quite likely
possibility. With multiarch finaly taking over there is even less
incentive for ia32-libs to get updated.

But if you can confirm that the DRI problem is solved by a simple update
then I will do one.

Here is what you do:

1) download the source: apt-get source ia32-libs
2) optionally : cp sources.list.deb sources.list.local
edit sources.list.local
3) update precompiled debs: ./fetch-and-build
4) build package : dpkg-buildpackage -us -uc -b
5) install: dpkg -i ../ia32-libs*deb

Step 3 might fail because packages have been removed from the archive,
in which case an update won't be so simple. In that case you might have
to edit the packages.list or give up and let me know.

MfG
 Goswin

May I suggest then to add exactly such a paragraph in the README.Debian

Bug#582090: ITP: viewnior -- simple, fast and elegant image viewer

2011-11-13 Thread Jonathan Marsden
Lubuntu is very interested in including Viewnior as its default image
viewer for Lubuntu 12.04. I am an Lubuntu developer.

I have previous Debian/Ubuntu packaging experience. I am willing to
package Viewnior for Debian (and so Ubuntu), and in fact I have already
packaged it. I do not want to "step on someone's toes"; can we work
together, or is it OK for me to continue this work and seek a sponsor to
get this package into Debian?

Thanks,

Bug#648663: qdbm: FTBFS on hurd-i386: failure on unimplemented msync()

2011-11-13 Thread Pino Toscano
Package: qdbm
Version: 1.8.78-1
Severity: important
Tags: patch
User: debian-h...@lists.debian.org
Usertags: hurd

Hi,

currently[1], qdbm fails to build on GNU/Hurd.

The problem is due to the fact that the msync() POSIX function is not
implemented on Hurd yet, thus returns -1 and sets ENOSYS as errno.
On the other hand, even without it qdbm seems to work fine on Hurd,
and the various tests succeed with the attached patch (which ignores
msync() failures when errno is ENOSYS).
I'm not sure whether the patch could be suitable for upstream though,
although it can work for the Debian packaging (and it won't need any
change when msync() is implemented).

the compiz autostart file looks suspicious. You can't really run compiz
together with gnome-shell, as it has its builtin compositor. Could you
try moving that autostart file away and test again.

Bug#637312: Modified package

A working package with the fix suggested by Paul is here:

http://mentors.debian.net/package/deja-dup

with that I don't mean it's time/I'm entitled for a NMU (though some ETA
on producing the ETA would be appreciated - that's maybe the most
popular desktop backup software, and it's uninstallable); just that
people who get in trouble as me with not being able to backup/restore
can run in a terminal:

dget\

dpkg-source -x deja-dup_18.1.1-2.2.dsc

Indeed it is supported. I can reproduce your problem using the

Consider to install the latest version into you local texmf tree.

All I have right now is whatever was in Lenny (3.0-4) so if you have
packaged later versions, I'd love to get a hold of that.

I am now a DD and can sponsor an upload, so let me know. :)
