Bug#804755: linux-image-4.2.0-1-amd64: Black screen when loading module i915

2015-11-11 Thread Thomas
Package: src:linux
Version: 4.2.5-1
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,

I have installed debian-testing on an intel-baytrail-system (hp pavilion x2 10,
model 2015) using the multiarch image (64 bit OS, 32 bit UEFI). Installation
was fine, however when booting the system, the system seems to freeze when
changing from simplefb to inteldrmfb.

After waiting for ar least 10 minutes, I can access the system again,
everything works fine. There are two corresponding traces in the system log
after 10 minutes. This behaviour can be reproduced on every boot (see
attachment).

As a tempory solution, I am using the "nomodeset" parameter, resulting in a
weak and limited X-Server, but no 10 minutes delay. I have also compiled a
4.3.0 kernel - leading to exactly the same behaviour. Finally, I installed 32
bit OS - with no difference.

I would expect no black screen for 10 minutes.

Bug#804669: libreoffice-kde (5.1): integration with dolphin is bugged

Or did you also upgrade dolphin with LO?

No. This was a libreoffice only upgrade. Libreoffice works when I launch
it from say Thunderbird, not from dolphin.

Of course, it might be that in 5.1 they added some new stuff to
.desktop which affects this, but...

Dunno. Just wanted to let you know : clicking on a file inside dolphin
is convenient and used to work from the day dolphin 5 and kde5 started
working for me (road was a bit shaking at the beginning)

Have been playing with kde application association : for .odt extension,
the libreoffice "default" association had been removed, probably by the
install (at least not by me and I'm the only user of the computer).

Reinstalling it manually did fix the problem. If it gives any hint...

Checked this moring on another computer at home : the odt association is
also missing => it is at install with the new version (mime types I
suppose).

Bug#781952: RFS:complexity/1.2-1 [ITP] -- tool for analyzing the complexity of C program functions

(the following is based on my opinion and impressions of how the Debian
archive, mirrors, and autobuilders work; if it is incorrect, corrections
would not merely be appreciated, but also very much welcome)

Well, the problem with this is that if your source package contains
files that are distributed under a non-DFSG license, your source package
may not be distributed in the Debian archive's "main" section. Thus, it
will not be "visible" to the Debian autobuilders and, even if it does
build binary packages that target the "main" or "contrib" sections,
those packages will never be automatically built and uploaded.

Of course, your packages may still be uploaded manually; I believe that
this is the way the "non-free" section of the archive works (cue remark
about how "non-free" may or may not even be considered a part of
the archive). Still, I don't think that this is the way that you would
prefer it to happen - every time your package needs to be updated, a
Debian developer with upload access should manually build it for all
the supported architectures... and, of course, this might have to
happen with library transitions, too, most probably leaving your package
broken (uninstallable) until somebody steps in, rebuilds it manually,
and uploads it.

It is certainly ultimately your call as the package maintainer; I just
thought you'd want to be aware of the implications :)

G'luck,
Peter

Not as bad as I thought. libSDL's dependencies in the util libraries
aree unused: checking for "dpkg-shlibdeps: warning: package could avoid
a useless dependency if FOO was not linked against BAR (it uses none of the
library's symbols)" (see below).

I'll try to do something, but if someone beats me to it, it would be
nice.

I suggest contacting upstream and asking about that.

Bug#804756: gnus-agent-regenerate-group crashes => Invalid read syntax: ". in wrong context"

2015-11-11 Thread Anonymous
Package: emacs24
Version: 24.4+1-5
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,

A particular newsgroup breaks gnus in an irrecoverable way. Gnus
cannot open a group with content from "gwene.com.fatwallet.hotdeals"
from the news.gmane.org server (filed in bug# 797409).

Two other gnus functions fail when trying to recover:

  * gnus-agent-regenerate-group
  * gnus-agent-expire-group

Those two commands fail with:

Invalid read syntax: ". in wrong context"

This is very severe, because regenerating the group is the only
function to recover from other bugs, and this function itself is
broken. It's not even possible to delete the messages, because the
group cannot be entered. It's a complete stalemate. The bugs are so
entrenched that there is no way to recover from this.

Bug#803734: freedombox-setup: Cleanup hardware setup script

The primary motivation is updates on FreedomBox, which we want to start
doing soon.

- After upgrading freedombox-setup, the user will not run the /setup
script again. If done as dependencies, when upgrading freedombox-setup,
we can pull in a newer version of a package, or an additional package,
if we need to. Doing apt-get in post-inst script would not be possible.

- If we look at the current list of hardware-specific packages, that
being refactored, it is just flash-kernel (~100 KiB) and
firmware-libertas (~7 MiB).

The patch doing the dependency approach is a bit incorrect because the
dependency of flash-kernel can only be satisfied on ARM architectures.
The patch is now superseded by moving the bits into freedom-maker (below
is discussion on that).

The following is the reasoning for doing this:

- The hardware setup process that we have is currently to take care of
boot stuff. This setup happens only once and future kernel installs are
handled by the flash-kernel. They have to be. So, why not make the
first time also happen with flash-kernel? We will need to two things
from flash-kernel: forcing device when running under chroot and forcing
the install location. We might have to fix flash-kernel for this if
necessary. After this we will have fixed a bunch of issues that arise
from mismatch of our first time assumptions and flash-kernel's later
assumptions (this happened with BBB recently I believe). We can remove
a lot of hardware specific code. We are open supporting a much larger
set of devices easily.

- Even now, the files that are created are not really part of any
package in strict sense. We are not removing those files when
freedombox-setup is removed. We are not upgrading the files when
freedombox-setup upgrades. (This change is only for hardware setup
script and not for the rest of freedombox-setup that sets up LDAP,
apache2, sudoers etc.) In case of Raspberry Pi, the kernel, modules and
other boot files are essentially installed by a script.

- All the hardware specific parts will only be in freedom-maker. This
makes supporting new devices and maintaining existing devices much more
easier.

- By moving much closer to just using flash-kernel, we are getting
closer to Debian way of doing things. We might be able to use d-i one
day for building FreedomBox.

- Installing hardware specific packages, such as the right kernel
flavor, is already being done by the freedom-marker. There is a list of
hardware specific packages already over there. We could add
flash-kernel and firmware-libertas there.

- Most importantly, for all the users who are installing
freedombox-setup package on an existing Debian, this hardware specific
code either does not run or will spoil their existing boot process.
(Debian installer folks seem to have a separate package for such code
called flash-kernel-installer. This will setup flash-kernel during
image building but should never be installed on a regular Debian machine.)

Bug#804752: unbound: After upgrade to 1.5.6, unbound does not start on default configuration.

2015-11-11 Thread Paweł Różański
Package: unbound
Version: 1.5.6-1
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

I run unbound on my laptop with Debian unstable as local DNS cache. After
standard upgrade of pacakges
I noticed, that my DNS resolver does not work anymore. Unbound service does not
run/start. After
enabling debug I found in syslog:
fatal error: could not open autotrust file for writing,
/etc/unbound/root.key.3265-0: Permission denied

Indeed, I used /var/lib/unbound/root.key in 1.4:
ls -ltr /var/lib/unbound/root.key
-rw-r--r-- 1 unbound unbound 759 lis 11 09:44 /var/lib/unbound/root.key

1.5.6 tried to use /etc/unbound/root.key:
ls -ltra /etc/unbound/root.key
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 759 lis 10 09:33 /etc/unbound/root.key

1.4 probably used conf.d, and 1.5.4 probably does not, as I have
cat /etc/unbound/unbound.conf.d/root-auto-trust-anchor-file.conf
server:
# The following line will configure unbound to perform cryptographic
# DNSSEC validation using the root trust anchor.
auto-trust-anchor-file: "/var/lib/unbound/root.key"

I also checked exactly the same default configuration on previous version -
works with 1.4.

Below is my current, working configuration. The only change is
auto-trust-anchor-file line.

I believe configuration file should be modified as below or reading conf.d
should be
restored. Right now service does not work on default configuration and may
disrupt services.

Kind regards,
Paweł

Bug#804759: O: wmii -- lightweight tabbed and tiled X11 window manager

2015-11-11 Thread Andrew Shadura
Package: wnpp
Severity: normal

-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-
Hash: SHA1

Hello everyone,

I stopped using wmii earlier this year, having switched to i3, XFCE and
Unity, so probably I'm not the right person to respond to the bug
reports anymore. The upstream has not been active recently, but wmii
is quite stable except for multi-monitor support which unfortunately
is far from perfect. The lack of good multi-monitor support is what
made me switch to i3 first, but later for various reasons I stopped
using tiling window managers altogether — after more than 5 years of
using them!

Please take care of this package if you use it.

Bug#804758: libqt5widgets5: Crashes and drawing errors related to SHM

2015-11-11 Thread Florian Bruhin
Package: libqt5widgets5
Version: 5.3.2+dfsg-4+deb8u1
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

Since a few days, QtWebKit applications (such as Calibre or my minimal
PyQt test script[1]) crash when resizing the window. I think it mostly
happens when it's resized bigger than the window size when the
application was started.

Sometimes there's a segfault, sometimes just a warning printed:

[...]
QXcbShmImage: shmget() failed (28) for size 103376 (364x71)
QXcbShmImage: shmget() failed (28) for size 905664 (636x356)

QXcbShmImage: shmget() failed (28) for size 8294400 (1920x1080)

I also see drawing errors when using KeePassX (wich doesn't use
QtWebKit) with similar errors:

QNativeImage: Unable to attach to shared memory segment.
X Error: BadDrawable (invalid Pixmap or Window parameter) 9
  Major opcode: 62 (X_CopyArea)

X Error: BadDrawable (invalid Pixmap or Window parameter) 9

Everything non-Qt seems to work fine.

Bug#804760: gnus-agent-regenerate-group => Invalid read syntax: . in wrong context

2015-11-11 Thread Nomen Nescio
Package: emacs24
Version: 24.4+1-5
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,

A particular newsgroup breaks gnus in an irrecoverable way. Gnus
cannot open a group with content from "gwene.com.fatwallet.hotdeals"
from the news.gmane.org server (filed in bug# 797409).

Two other gnus functions fail when trying to recover:

  * gnus-agent-regenerate-group
  * gnus-agent-expire-group

Ah, sorry. I noticed your August 25 reply some time in October, but I
didn't reply right away and forgot about it.

My upstream just does `pafy.new(url)` and uses the following
attributes/methods from the return value:

- title
- videoid
- getbestaudio()
- getbest()
- bitrate
- mediatype
- extension
- bigthumb
- bigthumbhd

As long as these attributes/functions continues to work in the new
version of pafy or there's an equivalent replacement, I should be good.

Mopidy-YouTube is an extension (running in the same process/interpreter)
to Mopidy, which is working hard to get to Python 2+3 support (ETA: <3
months).

Once that is in place, we need to transition most of the Mopidy
extension community (>50 extensions on PyPI, of which 13 are packaged in
Debian) to supporting Python 2+3 before we can switch the /usr/bin/mopidy
executable in Debian to run under Python 3 by default. I believe this
will take at least on the order 6 additional months. Maybe less for the
13 in Debian, as I have upstream commit bit on most of them.

All in all, we're talking about a time frame of around 9 months before
Mopidy-YouTube in Debian will no longer need a Python 2 version of pafy.

I wholeheartedly support any effort to move the world to Python 3, and
preferably before the freeze of stretch. For Mopidy and pafy, I think
that should be within reach.

Bug#804754: gnus-agent-regenerate-group crashes => Invalid read syntax: ". in wrong context"

2015-11-11 Thread Anonymous
Package: emacs24
Version: 24.4+1-5

Dear Maintainer,

A particular newsgroup breaks gnus in an irrecoverable way. Gnus

Two other gnus functions fail when trying to recover:

Those two commands fail with:

Invalid read syntax: ". in wrong context"

This is very severe, because regenerating the group is the only

broken. It's not even possible to delete the messages, because the
group cannot be entered. It's a complete stalemate. The bugs are so

Bug#804764: kdevelop-python: Python 2 support missing

2015-11-11 Thread Jacob Kanev
Subject: kdevelop-python: Python 2 support missing
Package: kdevelop-python
Version: 1.7.0-1
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,

I would like to use kdevelop to program/debug a larger application that
requires Python 2.7 (OpenERP/Odoo). Unfortunately, when I start debugging in
kdevelop I get the message "Sorry, debugging is only supported for Python 3.x
applications". Kdevelop-python is the only python plugin in Debian and supports
only python 3. When installing kdev-python from ubuntu I don't get this message
(although there are other problems). With python 2 still in widespread use this
is a major issue.

Lots of regards, Jacob.

Well, I moved complexity-doc into 'non-free/doc' (!) section.

Lintian complains, that I build free and non-free binaries from same
source package, but separating doc into almost-identical source package
and keeping them in sync is insane.

They are, for sure.

I see upstream has changed the license, however not yet made a release.

I believe this means we should be able to downgrade this bug to non-RC
status, as the license is OK now, even though the license text in our
version is incorrect.

Bug#733094: Still exists in Jessie

2015-11-11 Thread Paulo Assis
Hi, in recent versions this was fixed by changing debug to 0 in
uvcdynctrl script:
http://sourceforge.net/p/libwebcam/code/ci/f1e631a4163beb926f25efa52e2c5b71128de345/

this will redirect log output to /dev/null

Bug#804761: gnus-agent-regenerate-group crashes => Invalid read syntax: ". in wrong context"

2015-11-11 Thread Anonymous
Package: emacs24
Version: 24.4+1-5
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,

A particular newsgroup breaks gnus in an irrecoverable way. Gnus
cannot open a group with content from "gwene.com.fatwallet.hotdeals"
from the news.gmane.org server (filed in bug# 797409).

Two other gnus functions fail when trying to recover:

  * gnus-agent-regenerate-group
  * gnus-agent-expire-group

Bug#804612: Requires upload of bazel first

2015-11-11 Thread Ghislain Vaillant
According to the installation instructions [1], bazel is required to
build TensorFlow. There is an ITP currently filed for bazel [2].

https://github.com/tensorflow/tensorflow/blob/master/tensorflow/g3doc/get_started/os_setup.md

[2] https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=782654

On a separate note, this package would be a great candidate for
maintenance by the Debian Science Team. I might give it a go if bazel
gets uploaded eventually.

Hi,

I've not included this in my upload today as I want to get it forwarded
upstream. I'm speaking to upstream on Friday and I'd like to go through
all the oustanding bugs that are relevant to upstream with them then.
But if we don't get it resolved upstream soon we can carry the patch
anyway I guess.

Bug#804771: RFA: gedit-r-plugin -- Gedit plugin for R statistical computing language

2015-11-11 Thread Christoph Feenders
Package: wnpp
Severity: normal

I request an adopter for the gedit-r-plugin package.

The package description is:
Gedit plugin for R statistical computing language
This plugin serves as a lightweight IDE for R. In addition
to standard gedit functionality such as syntax highlighting
 the additional features are:
  - bottom panel containing one or more different R consoles
  - executing predefined blocks of code
  - generating customized R code

There are open issues with this package, for some of which
solutions are suggested. However, failed to test and incorporate
them for too long, so it's time to let the package find a
better maintainer.

If you want to be the new maintainer, please see
http://www.debian.org/devel/wnpp/index.html#howto-rfa
for detailed instructions how to adopt a package properly.

Bug#804494: patch : disable broken printf length

2015-11-11 Thread Mike Dupont
Attached a dirty patch to disable the broken printf max string length
code. I dont expect it to be merged but it might be a starting point
for someone experiencing the problem that I have.

Take a look at _doprnt from libiberty for an implementation. I am
wondering why we need these lengths in the parameters anyway? I would
like the raw data so.
It might be interesting to show the result of the format string applied.

see my bug report here: https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=804494

any feedback would be appreciated.

Have you got extensions installed?

There's a suggestion at http://forums.debian.net/viewtopic.php?f=6=125286
that high CPU usage by gnome-shell could be caused by extensions.

Bug#804787: jessie-pu: package servefile/0.4.3-1

2015-11-11 Thread Sebastian Lohff

Severity: normal
Tags: jessie

Hi,

there has been a directory traversal bug in servefile, it was fixed in
version 0.4.4. I talked to the Debian security team and they said a DSA
would not be necessary and recommended doing a stable-pu. Therefore
I'd like to propose an update to 0.4.4 (debdiff attached).

Greetings,

Bug#802211: systemd: rescue.service fails if root password is not set

2015-11-11 Thread Andreas Henriksson
Hello Michael Biebl.

I'm going to add some historic background here which hopefully helps
you understand where we currently stand unless you already know
about this.

During stretch development cycle the 'sulogin' binary was taken
over by 'util-linux' package. It was previously shipped in
sysvinit-utils.
The sysvinit-utils version carried a Debian-specific patch:
http://sources.debian.net/src/sysvinit/2.88dsf-59/debian/patches/91_sulogin_lockedpw.dpatch/

This patch was *not* carried over when switching to util-linux
implementation. Martin Pitt submitted the patch for upstream
inclusion and I reviewed it finding that it had serious flaws.
https://github.com/karelzak/util-linux/pull/200
(Unfortunately github seems to have misplaced my initial
in-code review commends after force push of updated version.)

The entire patch was then rejected based on security consideration.
Upstream reasoned that a locked account should probably stay
locked in the regular case. If you wanted to override that behaviour
it was implemented under the --force option of sulogin.
It was first supported in util-linux (>= 2.27~rc1-1~),
even though the --force flag itself existed in earlier versions.

The practical example for why you do *not* want Debians behaviour
was mentioned as somthing along the lines of 'think of a kiosk which
people shakes around and eventually the filesystem might need fsck.
You don't want to hand out passwordless root shell to kiosk users.'

As explained above, we used to just hand out passwordless root shells
(no matter which init system was used).

Our current (buggy?) behaviour is you have a locked root account
(which from what I hear debian-installer will happily give you if
you don't enter a root password or something like that) you'll
be pretty much out of luck unless you can edit the kernel cmdline
and set init=/bin/sh.

Previous discussion concluded that using --force in rescue target
would be a good enough compromise. (And noone probably cares about
fixing sysvinit I presume?)

>
> Should we have debian-installer create a drop-in for rescue.service to

That might be another (and better?) alternative...

It would probably also be good if we can find a nice place to document
what to do to handle this particular case when someone wants to
lock down their installation and make locked accounts really mean
locked.

Bug#804788: simpleburn: [CRASH] simpleburn does not recognize device, medium and commands

2015-11-11 Thread Eduardo Casais
Package: simpleburn
Version: 1.7.0-3
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

Running the version of simpleburn officially distributed by Debian, on a
computer with LXDE, following behaviour is observed.

1) Insert a CD-R/CD-RW into the CD-reader-burner.
2) Launch simpleburn from the command line.
Observation: simpleburn neither recognizes the existence of a drive,
nor that there is medium in it.
3) Click on any button of the simpleburn interface, such as "analyze
informations" or "eject".
Observation: simpleburn crashes and its window disappears.

Here are the error messages written to the terminal window in case (3):

(simpleburn:24387): Gtk-CRITICAL **: gtk_list_store_get_value: assertion
'VALID_ITER (iter, list_store)' failed

(simpleburn:24387): GLib-GObject-WARNING **:
/build/glib2.0-EvFudu/glib2.0-2.42.1/./gobject/gtype.c:4221: type id '0' is
invalid

(simpleburn:24387): GLib-GObject-WARNING **: can't peek value table for type
'' which is not currently referenced

Furthermore, it appears from a comparison with screenshots of the program in
the original site of the developer that the Debian version of simpleburn is
either missing functionality, or does not display it correctly.

That's going on; I'll push/upload if there are no worries with it.

I'm not sure we have any normal procedure to be honest. Given the amount
of keyring packages, and the fact we have a well-established derivative
behaving this way (in the archive, and in debootstrap's debian/rules), I
don't think there's a good reason not to have the t-a-k package in
Debian as well.

Thanks for the swift reply.

But not by the local admin with $EDITOR.

But with the file being a conffile owned by mysql-something, it must not
be modified by any other package.

cqrlog seems to be the only package in the archive doing this, breaking
mysql upgrades. Did other packages find a better solution? Cannot you
ship a separate configuration file to achieve what you need?
Note: I have no clue (and don't even want to know) how any of the
involved packages work :-)

If the only solution is to modify that file, talk with the mysql
maintainers how this could be achieved without breaking upgrades.
This probably means it can no longer be a conffile and instead some
machanism to generate and update it has to be implemented. Sounds a bit
like something for triggers ...

Bug#804485: pan: Pan crashes when downloading headers

I am now running Debian/Stretch on using KDE and it crashes when I try to
download new headers.

I cannot reproduce this behavior on Debian/Sid. Either this was a temporary
issue or you have corrupted files on your system.

I had similar issues a while ago. I fixed this by identifying which group pan
was updating while crashing. I then removed the matching file from
~/.pan2/groups/

Hope this helps.

I've been able to fix it by:
- deleting all the articles
- getting all headers again but stopping the download before it completes

If I simply remove the articles but allow the Get all headers to
complete, Pan crashes. It doesn't seem to crash at completion of the
task however. It seems to be happening well before that time.

It was happening in all groups that I subscribe to and started happening
at the same time in all of them. This suggests that possibly an earlier
version of Pan caused a problem that the current version couldn't handle.

Sorry it took so long to get back to you.

Having patched debootstrap locally, having fetched the
tanglu-archive-keyring, and extracted the key locally, I can't actually

I can push my current changes to master though, so that you can tweak
stuff as needed. What do you think?

I suppose it would probably make sense to have tanglu-archive-keyring in
Debian, the same way we have ubuntu-archive-keyring and a few others.

The "staging" suite is an incomplete suite, just like Debian
experimental (so it might not make sense anymore to have it
bootstrapable).
Try the "dasyatis" suite instead, which is the current development
target and next stable release - that should work.

If that's the normal procedure, I'll polish the package a little and
then upload it to Debian. Thanks for the suggestion, that would make
bootstrapping on Debian and other derivatives even easier.

Control: severity -1 minor
Control: tags -1 + moreinfo

Hi,

2014-10-14 04:14 積丹尼 Dan Jacobson:

I'm saying don't you think your bug script should at least capture the
Aptitude:: config values in effect too?

E.g., in my bug example there was a something probably affected by
one of them, but I had to remember to append them by hand to the bug report!

One of the problems to solve this is that reportbug should not be used
as root, while aptitude's Aptitude:: config values often come from
~root/.aptitude/config, and sometimes people launch aptitude as regular
user and then become root as part of running aptitude, or run through
sudo, etc.

So if the person uses reportbug as normal user, it cannot read the
root's config, and if one uses root (which reportbug doesn't recomment)
then it's not known which user's config should be appended as well.

I don't know if the problem can be solvable in general. Unless we only
capture the reporting user's config, I don't know if we can do much
better.

Cheers.

That's not really a suitable changelog for an upload to unstable,

The point of a changelog entry is to explain the purpose of the upload.
In this case it is to fix a security problem and some other (specific,

What I'm working on is building a supplementary archive for Ubuntu's
cloud archive (read: openstack) for 14.04 for arm64 hosts. This isn't

Bug#804789: Bluetooth Settings window no longer shows anything

2015-11-11 Thread Brent S. Elmer
Package: gnome-bluetooth
Version: 3.18.0-1
Severity: normal

the gnome-bluetooth bluetooth settings window no longer shows anything like it
used to. I believe this happened after updating to the latest gnome-bluetooth
package. I can see a small scroll section toward the top of the window and the
scrollbar shows up when I move my cursor over it. I can't resize the small
scroll portion or ever get anything to show up there.

Bug#786719: aptitude: cannot forbid a version for a package going to be installed

2015-11-11 Thread Manuel A. Fernandez Montecelo

Control: tags -1 + moreinfo unreproducible

Hi,

2015-05-24 21:12 Yann Dirson:

Package: aptitude
Version: 0.6.11-1+b1
Severity: normal

Context: iceweasel just got updated in testing from 31 to 38, and that
new version pulls gstreamer1.0-libav. On upgrade, the apt-listbugs
hook shows the latter as impacted by a serious bug, so as usual for
this situation, I stop the upgrade process and try to forbid that
version of gstreamer1.0-libav.

But the problem is, nothing happens when I use the "F" key.

Do you still experience this problem? Was it with iceweasel only or
also happened with other / all packages?

The code was not changed lately, I never experienced it and there are no
other reports, and it's a moderately popular feature... so it's a bit
odd if it only fails in your system or with a particular package.

Cheers.

This matches the behaviour we're seeing. So what I'd say this is not a
bug in the Apparmor profile so should we mark this as "wontfix" so it

Actually no. It would also disable the pruning of core dumps older

Gathering all data and then piping it into mailx instead of via cron
would also be an option.

Bug#804782: cloud-init: Package upstream snapshot

2015-11-11 Thread James Bromberger
Package: cloud-init
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainers,

Upstream cloud-init has hd a lot of work to fix many of the bugs listed
against this package, including... the ability to resize partitions with
modern tools (eg, old growpart that used to work is now a utility that
prints info ABOUT a partition, but doesnt actually resize it). Any EC2
instance witht he curent cloud-init cannot resize its root parition as
this version depends upon older packages that are no longer in Debian
as expected.

Meanwhile, ther distros have continued to package bzr snapshots of
cloud-init from Launchpad, meaning that their images actually resize
partitions and are very useful.

Can you please update the Debian cloud-init package from a current
bzr snapshot, and also deposit a copy in Jessie-backports.

Ta.

Bug#804783: libconfig-model-dpkg-perl: No documentation of fill.copyright.blanks.yml

2015-11-11 Thread Jens Reyer
Package: libconfig-model-dpkg-perl
Version: 2.069
Severity: minor

Hi,

using scan-copyrights I get output like this for some files:

Path debian/copyright.new has no license info. Add a line in
debian/fill.copyright.blank file

1.)
This is misleading, the correct filepath is
debian/fill.copyright.blanks.yml. Attached patch fixes this, a
redundancy in the output when loading this file, and a capitalization error.

2.)
You already have documented this feature in
lib/Dpkg/Copyright/Scanner.pm, but this is not available in man
scan-copyrights. I didn't want to dive into the whole
buildsystem/perl/whatever, so no patch here.

Thanks a lot. This is the first time I use scan-copyrights, but I really
like it.

2015-11-11 Thread Connor Glosser
I started investigating this locale thing a little bit more, and after
looking at Axel's screenshot again I noticed my locale was set to
LANG=en_US.utf8, while his was LANG=en_US.UTF-8. Issuing export
LANG=en_US.UTF-8 and running zsh again fixed all of my missing character
issues, so it must be an issue with the locale (en_US.utf8 is "incomplete"
somehow). Interesting in that my locale.gen file is clearly set to build
the "en_US.UTF-8 UTF-8" pack...

Bug#804785: Useless in Debian

2015-11-11 Thread David Prévot
Package: phpunit-selenium
Version: 1.3.3-1
Severity: serious
Tags: sid stretch

[Filled as RC by a team member to see it autoremoved from testing if
nobody disagrees. Please, do downgrade it with an explanation if you
 disagree.]

phpunit-selenium used to be part of phpunit, and this package was
uploaded when it was split out. PHPUnit 5 removed all mention if it,
PHPUnit upstream doesn’t take care of it anymore, and the Debian package
never moved to the new upstream source [0].

0: https://github.com/giorgiosironi/phpunit-selenium

Not sure anyone actually uses it, but if so, now would be a good time to
step up, or this package will not be part of Stretch.

I intend to follow up with an RM request in a few months if nobody
objects (but feel free to beat me to it).

nfacct is a software by the Netfilter project to perform network accouting
by means of iptables.
It has a very specific pourpose, and I think it's not used unless you are
running an accounting firewall or other network application to perform
accounting. Which I bet is very rare.
I guess that 100% of users of nfacct are fine if they have to manually install
it with aptitude or other method after running debootstrap.

I was told on a debian channel (IRC) that there is no reason to not install
it, it's a very small package after all.
But again, the nfacct software has very specific pourpose and little usage for
most of people both in the desktop land and the server land.

I wonder if nfacct being installed by debootstrap is the reason behind the
abnormal popcon values [0].

thanks, best regards.

Bug#802893: linux-image-3.16.0-4-amd64: additional info

2015-11-11 Thread tom
Package: src:linux
Version: 3.16.7-ckt11-1+deb8u5
Followup-For: Bug #802893

There is one information i forgot to add: When i encouter this bug, its useless
for me to simply reboot and try again, because the machine will ALWAYS produce
exactly this error.
So no matter how often i reboot, i never can reach the graphical session. What
i have to do instead is to boot into Windows. After that i can reboot into
Linux and get into graphical mode without any problems.

This suggests, that Linux is not able to initialise the hardware correctly. But
once the hardware gets correctly initialized by Windows, its no problem for
Linux to boot into graphical mode.

Bug#804773: RM: boo -- ROM; Dead upstream

(We think) we've removed dependencies on this, and would like to see it gone.

Bug#804775: transition: bullet

2015-11-11 Thread Markus Koschany
Package: release.debian.org
Severity: normal
User: release.debian@packages.debian.org
Usertags: transition

Hello release team,

I would like to request a transition for Bullet 2.83.6.
Upstream made a backward-incompatible ABI change between
version 2.83.5 and 2.83.6 without changing the SONAME too.

https://bugs.debian.org/801914

I have renamed the binary packages and added Breaks and Replaces
against the older version. The package is ready in experimental.

All reverse-dependencies should be binNMUable without requiring any
further action.

The r-deps are:

hkl
gazebo
cyphesis-cpp
openmw

Subject: [PATCH] Work around unlinkat bug on FreeBSD and GNU/Hurd

* src/unlink.c (dunlink_insert): New function.
(flush_deferred_unlinks): Skip cwds and nonempty directories
at the first pass. If force is requested, run a second pass
removing them.
(queue_deferred_unlink): Make sure current working directory
entries are sorted in descending order by the value of dir_idx.
This makes sure they will be removed in right order, which works
around unlinkat bug on FreeBSD and GNU/Hurd.
* tests/remfiles08b.at: Remove expected failure.
* tests/remfiles09b.at: Likewise.

I think that I need more information about this bug. I see that you are
using torsocks. If you download without it, do you still see such problems?

It would be nice if you could provide a more useful stacktrace (i.e. with
qtbase5-dbg installed).

Also, do you know if it is a new bug in Qt 5.5, or did it exist with Qt 5.4 too?

The package and the script is pretty much set in stone, it is unlikely
any changes to either of them will be needed apart from bumping
Standards-Version, at least once I have done the next upload.

I'm not sure how to send cron.daily output to a different address.

Ah, good point. Indeed, that only works for /etc/cron.d/ and crontab
files.

I've recompiled pan. A lot of deprecation warnings were displayed.

Bug#799268: RFS: ck/1.6.2 [ITP]

Take care,

Hi Grigori, the RFS is already fine and you are just missing the ITP.

ITP means "I want to package this foo for Debian"
and you close it in your changelog

RFS (this bug #799268) means: I want to find a sponsor, because I'm not able
to directly upload on Debian.

this RFS is closed by your sponsor when the upload is performed, the other
bug

(*A NEW BUG*) needs to be opened and closed in the upload in this way:

* Initial Release (Closes: #X)

where X is the ITP bug.

cheers,

G.

I have done that and deleted separate python3-ck package.

Done.

I changed it as ITP bug. It still complains and I guess
this can only be fixed when I find a sponsor ...

you need both an ITP bug (because it's a new package) and an RFS bug
(because you are looking for a sponsor)

I didn't think about that. But doesn't cron (or actually run-parts)
then barf about a non-executable file?

> or add exit 0 to the top of the cron job script.

I'd prefer if I don't have to edit a script which likely changes with
every release. I'd rather prefer something like
/etc/default/corekeeper which is then sourced by that script if it
exists.

BTW: What also would suffice would be to make the target e-mail
address configurable (preferably via /etc/default/corekeeper) so that
it doesn't go to root@`hostname`.

There is an effort upstream to make oping use the DGRAM socket type

For the record, I've tested the new version and it builds[1]
and works[2] just fine.

So, given that this issue is quite annoying, I'm about uploading the
linked NMU to DELAYED/10. Steve, I hope it's ok for you.

The bugs #804716 and #804717 are upstream requests and as such it would be
better if they are discussed directly with upstream, as having us (package
maintainers) as human proxies in this kind of discussions is not very
productive. Please consider submitting this requests upstream, either in the
upstream bug tracker (https://bugs.kde.org) or in a kde development mailing
list or even in a upstream irc channel.

If you go for a bug submission you can then tag the bugs as forwarded with the
upstream bug url, that way we get notified when the state of the bug changes.

Bug#804772: TAR: testsuite failure: 163 165 failed (GNU/hurd and kfreebsd-*)

2015-11-11 Thread Gianfranco Costamagna
Package: tar
Version: 1.28-2.1
Severity: normal
Tags: patch

Attached the patch that should fix the kfreebsd and hurd test failures on test
163 and 165.

(I'm not going to NMU them I guess, because they aren't release architectures)

cheers,

G.

Subject: [PATCH] Work around unlinkat bug on FreeBSD and GNU/Hurd

* src/unlink.c (dunlink_insert): New function.
(flush_deferred_unlinks): Skip cwds and nonempty directories
at the first pass. If force is requested, run a second pass
removing them.
(queue_deferred_unlink): Make sure current working directory
entries are sorted in descending order by the value of dir_idx.
This makes sure they will be removed in right order, which works
around unlinkat bug on FreeBSD and GNU/Hurd.
* tests/remfiles08b.at: Remove expected failure.
* tests/remfiles09b.at: Likewise.

Bug#804777: Missing UTF8 in vsftpd FEAT

2015-11-11 Thread Rainer Kemme
Package: vsftpd
Version: 3.0.2-17

Upon the FEAT-command the response of vsftpd does not contain UTF8.
The status message is: 'Server does not support non-ASCII characters.'

System: Debian GNU/Linux 8.2 (Jessie); Kernel 3.16.7-ckt11-1+deb8u5 with
libc6 2.19-18+deb8u1

BTW: Ubuntu 15.04, 15.10 behave same way (no UTF8). Ubuntu 14.04 (vsftpd
3.0.2) responses with UTF8.

Debian GNU/Linux 7.9 (Wheezy) running vsftpd 2.3.5-3 responses with UTF8
too!

This also seems to be in accordance with the report here, where OCE 0.16 amkes
it work: http://forum.freecadweb.org/viewtopic.php?f=3=12908=10

Bug#804758: Duplicate

2015-11-11 Thread Florian Bruhin
I did some more research on this, and I think I'm actually running
into #799587:

https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=799587

Closing the Java application I was running did indeed fix the issue...

So I guess this can be merged into #799587 - sorry for the noise!
