Bug#1019549: fetchmail: can't accept options while a background fetchmail is running.
Hi, I encounterd the problem with the same origin perhaps. I used to run fetchmail in daemon mode with keep option every 10 minutes in a machine and call fetchmail manually late at night every day with nokeep option in another main machine. But recently, in main machine, I found that fetchmail was running already as "fetchmail --nodetach --daemon 300" just after booting. This is very inconvenient for me. It seems systemd makes fetchmail to start automatically, so please provide a clear explanation how to disable fetchmail(.service ?) Thanks for your maintenance. Generally it is desired but there are some users who don't want to embed japanese fonts because they want small PDF. "kanji-config-updmap-sys auto" sets up correctly Japanese fonts with haranoaji fonts. But it generates /var/lib/texmf/fonts/map/dvipdfmx/updmap/kanjix.map so, I guess, this forces dvipdfmx to embed haranoaji fonts which could be not appropriate for someone. > Also, the dependency on e.g., Rumin-Light that you suggested is already > configured in /etc/ghostscript/cidfmap.d/90gs-cjk-resource-japan1.conf I might misunderstand you but is this configuration works for xdvik-ja? Package: xdvik-ja Version: 22.87.05+j1.42-2 Severity: normal Dear Maintainer, I need to view rather old DVI file generated by pTeX. So I installed xdvik-ja and try "xdvi test.dvi". But it shows only English texts and mathematical equations but fails to show Japanese characters completely. I forget how xdvik-ja finds Japanese fonts but it seems xdvik-ja reads kanjix.map and it sets; rml H !Ryumin-Light and I think Ryumin-Light should be mapped to a real fonts, for example, ipaexm.ttf but I can't find what file does that. I did reinstall cups-daemon and cups-core-drivers (2.2.5-2), then removed (purged in fact) fxlinuxprint and then installed printer-driver-fujixerox. But when I try to add printer CP310 it failed because cups claimed "can't copy PPD file". So I removed printer-driver-fujixerox then installed fxlinuxprint. Then cups added a printer CP310 but its printer driver was show as "Local Raw Printer" wrongly. But if I downgraded cups to 2.2.4-7, then cups can add a printer CP310 and its printer driver is correctly "FX Printer Driver for Linux". Further, under this situation, the command cupsfilter -p /etc/cups/ppd/CP310.ppd -m printer/CP310 -e /etc/nsswitch 2>log.stretch produced a line: cupsfilter: Unable to determine MIME type of "/etc/nsswitch". so I doubt this is any problem. I can print a test file with CP310 (under cups 2.2.4-7). It looks to me that cups 2.2.5 has some regression. Thanks for your help and effort. Best regards, 2017-10-30(Mon) -- ** Atsuhito Kohda Math. The problem is * LaTeX2e 2017.01.01 is released and is in Debian/testing * LuaLaTex uses TU encoding by default, and fontspec is updated * luatexja-fontspec of LuaTeX-ja was not compatible with the new fontspec * the author of LuaTeX-ja updated luatexja-fontspec at 2017.01.24 to fix the problem I guess he uploaded it to CTAN and so TeXLive but I don't know when it comes into Debian package, and further, Debian is in freeze state already. The error is critical (for LuaLaTeX-ja users) and lualatex fails to compile even very simple TeX file as follows: (/usr/share/texlive/texmf-dist/tex/luatex/luatexja/addons/luatexja-fontspec-24. sty ! Undefined control sequence. l.352 \__fontspec_define_feature_option:n {CJKShape}{JIS2004}{20}{100}{+jp04} ? I installed manually the new LuaTeX-ja in /usr/local and the problem is certainly fixed. So I believe Debian must update LuaTeX-ja (texlive-lang-japanese) for stretch. If you need any further information please let me know. Best regards, Atsuhito Kohda -- Package-specific info: IMPORTANT INFORMATION: We will only consider bug reports concerning the packaging of TeX Live as relevant. If you have problems with combination of packages in a LaTeX document, please consult your local TeX User Group, the comp.text.tex user group, the author of the original .sty file, or any other help resource. In particular, bugs that are related to up-upstream, i.e., neither Debian nor TeX Live (upstream), but the original package authors, will be closed immediately. *** The Debian TeX Team is *not* a LaTeX Help Desk *** If you report an error when running one of the TeX-related binaries (latex, pdftex, metafont,...), or if the bug is related to bad or wrong output, please include a MINIMAL example input file that produces the error in your report. Please run your example with (pdf)latex -recorder ... (or any other program that supports -recorder) and send us the generated file with the extension .fls, it lists all the files loaded during the run and can easily explain problems induced by outdated files in your home directory. Don't forget to also include minimal examples of other files that are needed, e.g. bibtex databases. Often it also helps to include the logfile. Please, never send included pictures! If your example file isn't short or produces more than one page of output (except when multiple pages are needed to show the problem), you can probably minimize it further. Okay, as I don't speak English so well, istead of explaining instruction by myself, I'd like to give you some poiters. In the first place, stack is a moodle plugin so I guess it is difficult to package for Debian but one should install it from moodle manually. Install instruction: https://github.com/maths/moodle-qtype_stack/blob/master/doc/en/Installation/index.md Note moodle is packaged, at least in unstable and I can install it even in stable at present. At the stage 7. Confirming the installation is successful. one runs Health-check script and get an error: "failed to load /usr/share/maxima/5.36.1/share/draw/draw.lisp" This is the problem I reported. You can see the same problem on the net as https://moodle.org/mod/forum/discuss.php?d=279248 and the one where I found the fix "--enable-sbcl" https://moodle.org/mod/forum/discuss.php?d=313727 I'm not sure if you have time to do the installation to reproduce the problem but I hope the above info might help you to some extent. Due to the bug #711383, I refrain from uploading TeXmacs to unstable/testing/jessie yet. Further, it is true that TeXmacs doesn't work with guile-2.0. So I don't know what I can do at present. If guile-2.0 is necessary then there is no room I can do. Even if guile-1.8 is permissible, I don't know how to overcome #711383 yet so it looks there is no choice I can select. Bug#751202: texlive-fonts-extra: some STIX fonts are duplicated with fonts-stix
Package: texlive-fonts-extra Version: 2014.20140528-2 Severity: normal Hi Norebert and all, I maintain fonts-stix and got a bug report #713813. Recently I fixed it and added fonts of STIX-word to fonts-stix but then I found that fonts from STIX-word are duplicated with texlive-fonts-extra. They are STIX-Bold.otf STIX-BoldItalic.otf STIX-Italic.otf STIX-Regular.otf STIXMath-Regular.otf under /usr/share/texlive/texmf-dist/fonts/opentype/public/stix/ It seems other fonts from STIX in texlive-fonts-extra were linked with fonts from fonts-stix so I think these new fonts from STIX-word might be also linked to fonts from fonts-stix. Bug#711841: xawtv makes whole system freezed
Package: xawtv Version: 3.103-1 Severity: important Dear Maintainer, * What led up to the situation? only upgrading xawtv from 3.102-3 to 3.103-1 * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or ineffective)? nothing special. * What was the outcome of this action? system was freezex and didn't accept any key iputs etc. so I needed to power down by power button. * What outcome did you expect instead? xawtv runs smoothly I now downgraded xawtv to 3.102-3 and manually changed version number in reportbug session. Please don't ask me "try again 3.103-1". It certainly made my system deep freezed. Thanks for your maintenance. So when I've got a chance to update package I've tried to update anything as possible as I can. I don't remeber precisely, but I guess I bump the debhelper compat level along the following modification. * To erase lintian warnings, we refine debian/rules a bit. Bug#689579: unblock: dvi2ps-fontdesc-morisawa5/0.5
Hi Adam, On Fri, 05 Oct 2012 19:12:17 +0100, "Adam D. Barratt" wrote: > The package was removed from testing back in May as part of the last > TeXLive transition. Is there a particular justification for trying to > re-add it now? At TeXLive transition, I thought wrongly that this was obsolete and unnecessary. But I notice, after getting Bug#688253 and reviewing the package, that this is necessary even now to use complete set of morisawa fonts. I explain a meaning of complete set of morisawa fonts briefly. As the package name "morisawa5" indicates, this contains fonts data for five typefaces. Normally, Japanese fonts consist of only two type faces, i.e. Mincho(like roman) and Gothic(like Bold sanserif). But Morisawa fonts have three more typefaces, i.e. FutoMin(bold Mincho), FutoGo(bolder than normal Gothic), Jun101(hand-writing shape, soft or casual Mincho). One can use Mincho and Gothic of Morisawa fonts without this package (perhaps) but one needs this package to use FutoMin, FutoGo and Jun101. So I think it is reasonable to re-add this package. Thanks for your work. I thought wrongly that this package was obsolete and unnecessary after removal of vfdata-morisawa5 so did not pay so much attention to this package (sorry). But I notice after reviewing that this package is necessary even now to use complete set of morisawa fonts. But it seems necessary to modify contents of the package to be compatible with texlive-lang-cjk's directory structure. Installable but not usable is not a good solution, so I need to check a bit more throughly the package. Please wait for a while. Thanks for your contributions. Hi Norbert and all, On Fri, 11 May 2012 08:21:10 +0900, Norbert Preining wrote: > I have made the following additions to the preinst of ptex-bin: > case "$1" in > install|upgrade) > if dpkg --compare-versions "$2" le "2011.20120509-1" ; then > rm -f /etc/texmf/texmf.d/30ptex* > rm -f /etc/texmf/fmt.d/30ptex* > rm -f /etc/texmf/texmf.d/20ptex* > rm -f /etc/texmf/fmt.d/20ptex* Please don't remove 20ptex* because 20ptexjtex.cnf comes from my package ptex-jtex. Well ptex-jtex is, in short, pTeX in old days (latex209 or \documentstyle for example) and license is also old ASCII's license and so in non-free. But it runs faster than the current pTeX and sometimes current pTeX's compatibility mode doesn't work for old files so it is (very rare but) useful yet. Fortunately ptex-jtex can be modified to be installable with pTeX of TeXLive so I continue to maintain it. Anytime I can remove ptex-jtex but untill it causes some inconveniences I'll maintain it. > dpkg-divert --package ptex-bin --remove --rename --divert \ > /usr/bin/pltotf.nonja /usr/bin/pltotf > > dpkg-divert --package ptex-bin --remove --rename --divert \ > /usr/share/man/man1/pltotf.nonja.1.gz /usr/share/man/man1/pltotf.1.gz > > dpkg-divert --package ptex-bin --remove --rename --divert \ > /usr/bin/tftopl.nonja /usr/bin/tftopl > > dpkg-divert --package ptex-bin --remove --rename --divert \ > /usr/share/man/man1/tftopl.nonja.1.gz /usr/share/man/man1/tftopl.1.gz > fi > esac > > > > Please let me know if you think this appropriate or if we need anything > more? Yes you are right. I found a few more packages which should be removed. ptex-base and jbibtex-base are completely included in texlive-lang-cjk so should be removed. I believe that mendexk package should be removed also because of texlive-binaries. If you need more precise information, please let me know. And only FYI. it seems pdfjam is also included in texlive-extra-utils so I think we can remove it. I'm now checking new texlive packages upgraded in testing and find pTeX related programs work incredibly fine. Thanks for your work. Thanks for your work. I'd like to know a bit more. If I understand correctly jbibtex-bin is (will be) removed, then I'd like to know what is the situation of jbibtex-base. jbibtex-base is completely included in texlive-lang-cjk as follows: $ diff -ur /usr/share/texmf/jbibtex/bst/ /usr/share/texlive/texmf-dist/pbibtex/bst/ $ diff -ur /usr/share/texmf/jbibtex/bib/ /usr/share/texlive/texmf-dist/pbibtex/bib/ It might cause no problem at present but I believe there is no need to keep jbibtex-base anymore. Next, I'd like to know about texfam. Is it correct to think it is in unstable and we have more time to try migrating it to kpathsea6 environment? If necessary I agree also to remove it from Debian archive. Please confirm... About vfdata-morisawa5, there is no problem. Please remove it from testing. If necessary I agree also to remove it from Debian archive. BTW, I guess I already confirmed removal of my package with http://lists.debian.org/debian-tex-maint/2012/03/msg00031.html but apparently it doesn't reach you, Adam.
