Re: Aurelien Jarno 2007-11-16 [EMAIL PROTECTED]
I was using mutt on my Inbox in a vserver on a Apple dual G5 Xserve
  running etch.

When closing to save, i got the following error :

*** glibc detected *** double free or corruption (!prev)

This means mutt is trying to free a memory zone twice. Not a glibc bug,
 reassigning.

Hi,

can you provide more details, like a backtrace? I'm afraid we will
have to close the bug otherwise.

Sgmltexi is a SGML typesetting system based on Texinfo.
Sgmltexi is an SGML system (DTD and tools) to make Texinfo
documentation using SGML. The Sgmltexi DTD is designed to
follow most of the Texinfo philosofy, hiding the node managing.
Sgmltexi is to be intended as a simplified Texinfo using SGML; that
is: you cannot do all that it is possible with Texinfo alone. Sgmltexi
impose some restrictions, but maybe it can be simpler to write Texinfo
 documentation this way.

Description: Command line Data-CD, Audio-CD, ISO-CD, Copy-CD writing tool
Quick command-line tool to create Audio-CDs from .mp3, .ogg and .wav
files, to backup data, to create CDs from ISOs, to copy CDs on-the-fly.
 .
Burn is a program/script written in Python that aims to quickly and
simply make audio CDs and backup of your data. It performs any of its
feature invoking it only once and with one and only one command line.
No previous ISO creation command is needed.
 .
Other than creating audio CDs from .ogg, .mp3, .wav (even together),
copy CDs, create Data-CD (storage, backups, etc.) and create a CD from an
existing ISO image, burn does a lot of other things. Among them: compute
if there is necessary free space for temporary files (images and audio
files), warn if size is bigger than CD capacity, manage multisession CDs.
 .
 Basically burn features:
   · Data-CD (files and dirs storage)
   · Audio-CD (from mp3, ogg vorbis, wav)
   · ISO-CD (burns an ISO)
   · Copy-CD (copy CDs)

Bug#451156: Cannot mount bind-mounts from /etc/fstab

2007-11-19 Thread Christoph Berg
Re: Bastian Kleineidam 2007-11-19 [EMAIL PROTECTED]
you can enable debugging in pam_mount.conf.xml:
 debug enable=1 /

Ah, that was too far at the other end of the file ;)

Could you post the old working configuration? I am interested in this even if
the patch below works since there could be a converter script error.

Attached. The bind lines were commented out while I resurrected the
system with this disk, before the upgrade to lenny (they used to
work). About the conversion, I cannot say for sure, but the one
remaining line (/dev/planck/cb /cb) at the time of the upgrade looks
like it was correctly converted.

Note that I have to use the target directory rather than the source
  device/directory from /etc/fstab in the path= tag because /cb won't
  work for obvious reasons.
Please try the attached patch and use the following
 in /etc/security/pam_mount.conf.xml:

 volume user=myon path=/dev/planck/cb target=/srv/etch-i386/cb
 fstype=crypt /

I first tried your patch with my existing config, debug log is
attached. (Let me know if you also want the beginning.) Looks like the
problem is use_fstab: 0.

/cb /srv/sid-amd64/cb none defaults,bind,noauto,user 0 0
volume user=myon path=/srv/sid-amd64/cb /

One possible fix could be to allow mountpoint in the config and
leaving path out. (mount doesn't care much.)

The config you proposed also fails.

What does of course work is:

volume user=myon path=/cb mountpoint=/srv/sid-amd64/cb fstype=none
options=bind /

But I'd prefer refering to fstab entries :)

Bug#449737: avscan: debian/watch fails to report upstream's version

2007-12-09 Thread Christoph Berg
Re: Patrick Schoenfeld 2007-12-07 [EMAIL PROTECTED]
 Hi Christoph,

I have prepared a patch for this bug. Find it attached.

Hi,

thanks for your effort. Unfortunately, the patch only works around the
fact that upstream seriously messed up their file permissions on the
web site. On the related endeavour package, even downloading the
source is broken.

I'll try mailing them again.

Bug#455575: O: xmms-coverviewer -- XMMS plugin that displays covers while playing

2007-12-10 Thread Christoph Berg
Package: wnpp
Severity: normal

I'm orphaning this package because I'm not using it anymore.
Furthermore, upstream has been pretty dead lately (with some activity
on xmms-coverviewer-ng inbetween that doesn't like it would be
finished in the near future). Oh, and xmms isn't that modern either...

If you want to be the new maintainer, please see
http://www.debian.org/devel/wnpp/index.html#howto-o for detailed
instructions how to adopt a package properly.

If no one picks it up within some time, I'll consider reassigning this
bug to ftp.d.o for removal.

Bug#311009: svnmailer: Please supply simple example file

2005-05-27 Thread Christoph Berg
Package: svnmailer
Version: 1.0.0-1
Severity: wishlist

Hi,

I just tried to set up svnmailer. I didn't want any fancy features, I
just wanted a working installation that I could fine-tune later. The
documentation in /usr/share/doc/svnmailer/docs/ lacks a sample file
that you can just put somewhere, insert your email address and be
happy. In the end, I gave up and just took svn's commit-email.pl
because that one is easy to set up.

Could you add a bare minimum config file in
/usr/share/doc/svnmailer/ that also provides instructions on how to
write the post-commit hook without being too verbose?

Thanks, Christoph

Bug#310590: aspell dictionaries depend on libaspell15 package name, that might change

2005-05-31 Thread Christoph Berg
Re: Agustin Martin in [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Just to note that after Brian suggestion, one of the things that are waiting
in dictionaries-common for sarge release is aspell-autobuidhash, allowing the
binary hashes being built from dict postinst. This is still very
experimental, and would require for dicts using it that not only libaspellxx
is installed but also aspell-bin, but should make dependencies simpler for
those dicts, since the dependency would be on aspell-bin, which is synced to
the appropriate libaspellxx because it depends on it.

This has the advantage that dicts will be arch: all packages, because
endianess would be dealt with at hash building (our mirrors will be happy).
The drawback is that aspell-bin is required, that more space is used in the
system and that for slow systems the on-the-fly build might not be as fast as
expected (aspell efficiency on this is much higher now, so this might no
longer be a problem, but is still to be tested with aspell-0.60)

Hi,

the recently (6 weeks ago) added aspell-de-alt package builds the
hashes in the postinst. The packaging was trivial, and since noone
complained yet, I assume it works for users. (Of course I did
extensive install/remove tests myself before uploading.)

What I mean is that those bugs should be reassigned to
wnpp, package so they show up in the wnpp and the packages bug log.

Wouldn't it be easier/cleaner to modify debbugs to show an additional
category WNPP?

Re: Jeroen van Wolffelaar in [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Well, after a bit reflection, I think I'm against. Firstmost, because
already now a lot of people don't seem to be able to get wnpp bugs
right. Secondly, it isn't a bug in the package, it's meta-information
(someone else needs to maintain it). As wnpp bugs are displayed in the
PTS (packages.qa.d.o), I think there is already a page where to see this
type of meta-package data, along with other stuff about a given package.

Good argument.

Bug#296742: ITP: aspell-de-alt -- German dictionary for aspell (old spelling)

2005-03-17 Thread Christoph Berg
Re: W. Borgert in [EMAIL PROTECTED]
I suggest you to use another name, not aspell-de-alt, even if upstream
seems to use it: if alt means old here, this is bad, as the package
name could not be understood by non-Germans. Think about an English
speaking admin who has to configure a machine for a German colleague...

Hi,

sorry I didn't see your followup earlier, I didn't set myself as the
owner of the ITP so I didn't get a Cc:.

I see your point in avoiding alt, but I'll use that name since
upstream uses it to lessen confusion on that side. System
administrators can still look at the Description to see what the
package is good for.

Bug#302693: debian sig2dot package - improvements

Package: sig2dot
Severity: wishlist

--
[EMAIL PROTECTED] | http://www.df7cb.de/
---BeginMessage---
Hi,

I sent a patch for sig2dot to Kevin a few weeks ago, but I see that you
are the new maintainer of this package.
My patch fixed the problem with the new version of gpg (you already
fixed it) and proposed some improvements:
- removes the comments of the uid (usually they are quite boring, and
do not mean anything since it is different for each uid)
- if using
$ gpg --list-sigs some_special_pattern | sigdot -a
which is quite usefull to get a graph from special part of your
keyring, it removes the uid from extern users (which is already done
when you are not using the -a).
I attach to this mail the reduced patch, please check it and include it
if there is no problems.

Please note 2 things:
- the [user id not found] is never used with this patch, so you can
remove everything linked to this from the script
- there is some internationalization problems with the revoked text
(in French, for example, it is r'evoqu'e)

Regards,

Hi,

if one tries to add an override for a tag that does not have data
(e.g. package-not-start-lib, section-not-libs), the override does not
match with Data: .*.

Tag: package-not-start-lib
Data: .*

It works when using Tag: alone. Please clarify this in the linda

2005-04-24 Thread Christoph Berg
Re: To Steve Kowalik in [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Are you able to send me a patch against the de.po file?

I haven't looked yet into the .po file. If it's just the wrong charset
or some weird characters, I can fix that. If it's something deeper
like python unable to iconv the messages, then I can't. Let's hope
 it's the first case.

Hi,

I just checked the de.po file - it's correctly encoded in iso-8859-15
and labelled as such. I don't know python, but from which I saw in the
source, it set the locale correctly. But then, the charset is
apparently not converted in the gettext calls.

I don't understand the code in mygettext.py, but it looks somehow
overly complicated. Shouldn't it be enough to just call gettext() or
_() after the setlocale()/bindtextdomain()/textdomain() calls?

Package: fuse-utils

Hi,

I just installed fuse-utils. It didn't prompt for the unix group for

dpkg-reconfigured it and chose the adm group.

It didn't change the group of fusermount. (It also prompted me if I
wanted to add all members of the old group to the new one, which I
declined, but that shouldn't matter here.)

After manually changing the group it works. Thanks for this great set

They both only allow ErrorDocuments that reside in your DocumentRoot.

Server configuration:

VirtualHost *
ServerName www2.df7cb.de
DocumentRoot /cb/www.df7cb.de/public_html
[...]
/VirtualHost

.htacces in DocumentRoot:

ErrorDocument 401 /error/401_unauthorized.shtml
ErrorDocument 403 /error/403_forbidden.shtml
ErrorDocument 404 /error/404_not_found.shtml
ErrorDocument 500 /error/500_internal.shtml
[...]

results in:

[Sat Apr 30 15:02:08 2005] [error] [client 10.0.0.106] File does not exist:
/usr/share/apache2/error/404_not_found.shtml

As said in the report, it works when I change it to:

ErrorDocument 401 /401_unauthorized.shtml
ErrorDocument 403 /403_forbidden.shtml
ErrorDocument 404 /404_not_found.shtml
ErrorDocument 500 /500_internal.shtml

It would still be nice if this could be fixed so I don't have to clutter my
DocumentRoot dir.

As I said last year, all that is needed is a source for Changed-By

moment, DDPO only looks at what the projectb (dak database) knows, and
that's the Maintainer field and the key id used to sign the upload.

 audio/x-mp3; /usr/local/bin/mp3info -v -f %s ; copiousoutput

 $DISPLAY !=
 audio/x-mp3;noatun --nofork '%s'; nametemplate=%s.mp3;test=test

now I would expect mutt to invoke mp3info when it finds an mp3-attachment but
 it does not
(in fact it runs mpg123 when I press enter on it)

Hi,

works here:

Re: Nicolas Boullis 2007-01-15 [EMAIL PROTECTED]
The attached patch allows to set an alternate logfile that logtail tries
to use as the old logfile if the inode has changed.
 It can be used as:
   logtail -f /var/log/syslog -a /var/log/syslog.1

It would be nice if the other filename could be figured out
automatically, for example with logrotate's dateext or savelog's -d
option, the filename is not predictable. (Just scan the whole dir and
look for the file with the right inode.)

Bug#442944: pycocuma: breaks long lines in vcf file

2007-09-22 Thread Christoph Berg
reassign 442944 rolo
thanks

Re: Owen Heisler 2007-09-18 [EMAIL PROTECTED]
The NOTE line was not wrapped in this message; it is actually split onto two
lines. Rolo stops reading the vcf file at the NOTE line; removing the space
 and line break fixes that.

Either this is actually a correct behavior for vCard v3 and rolo isn't
 handling
it properly or the behavior is incorrect and pycocuma has a bug. I am
 obviously assuming the latter.

Feature - RFC2425 5.8.1. Line delimiting and folding.

Bug#439840: CVE-2007-4398: Multiple CRLF injection vulnerabilities

2007-09-22 Thread Christoph Berg
Hi,

while everyone seems to claim that the scripts on irssi.org/scripts/
have been fixed, the web server there reports 2005 as last change
date, and randomly checking some scripts doesn't show any differences
to the versions we are shipping. It could be that we are already
shipping fixed versions, but I doubt it. Does anyone have more
information?

Bug#438712: minimalist: The package description should use the pseudo-standard Homepage: trick

2007-08-19 Thread Christoph Berg
tags 438712 + wontfix
thanks

Hi Christian,

Cc'ing -devel since I don't think there is a consensus about this
issue.

Re: Christian Perrier 2007-08-19 [EMAIL PROTECTED]
This package's description mentions the upstream project web page. I suggest
it uses the de facto standard of mentioning it (IIRC even mentioned in the
 Developer's Reference):

   Homepage: http://www.mml.org.ua/

(please note, and hopefully respect, the leading *double* space)

While this is some kind of standard, it is only one of several. The
other is what this package uses, namely the plain URL, and there are
probably also packages that use 2 spaces without the Homepage: .

Putting 2 spaces there is absolutely ugly, I'm never ever going to use
that. The argument that it eases parsing doesn't really count,
packages.debian.org will hilight any url in the description, so it
doesn't need Homepage:.

Please someone push forward the XB-Homepage: idea.

Description: courier filter for clamav to virus scan incoming mail
ClamCour is a Courier filter that allows Clam Antivirus to scan
incoming mail for viruses, and rejects it if check is positive.
 .
ClamCour is target-specific as it is written specifically for the
Courier MTA which makes for better performance and is more light on
CPU and memory resources compared to e.g. amavisd-new which, on the
other hand, is more flexible (works with several MTAs) and more
 feature-rich.
 .
ClamCour is written in C++ and is multi-threaded.
 .
It is highly recommended that clamav-freshclam is installed together
with ClamCour to provide an up-to-date ClamAV virus definition database.

(afaict, I haven't contacted them personally yet). The packaging is
fairly trivial (except it builds a library...). There's python
bindings floating around somewhere that could be packaged.

If you want to be the new maintainer, please see
http://www.debian.org/devel/wnpp/index.html#howto-o for detailed
instructions how to adopt a package properly.

Re: Vincent Fourmond 2007-07-23 [EMAIL PROTECTED]
   I use gtkfontsel - rather infrequently, I admit - and that's precisely
the kind of software you're desperately looking for when doing various
configurations, and whose need falls down afterwards. I would personally
miss it if it weren't in Debian.

Cool.

Do you have any recommendations, or know some traps I should be wary
of ? Hard work I should be looking forward to ;-) ?

Not really. Most of the maintenance work is probably keeping the
package alive as gtk-1.2 gets more and more deprecated.

Bug#277637: current state of sidebar-patch?

2007-07-24 Thread Christoph Berg
Re: dann frazier 2007-07-24 [EMAIL PROTECTED]
I already do this for the sidebar patch anyway, so I don't mind doing
an upload to experimental with it. I assume there are other features
people would like to get in besides sidebar, so I suggest we setup a
set of policies for working together. Here's a couple to give an idea
 of what I'm thinking...

I not really aware of any other patch (besides sidebar) that people
want and that is at the same time rejected upstream (or not already in
the Debian package). I'd go with a mutt-sidebar package built from the
same source. Of course building twice is somewhat scary, but it should
definitely come from the same source, or else would result in lots of
duplicated work. Along the same line, we should go for unstable, as
experimental isn't really widely used, and the point of the new
package is to be used, rather than tested.

No, I really want experimental first, and re-evaluate after some months
 there.

I meant long-term of course, initially trying experimental is fine. (I
was pondering frequent snapshot uploads to experimental anyway, and
more or less only hitting unstable on upstream releases.)

Re: Jason Cormie 2007-09-07 [EMAIL PROTECTED]
When installed hobbit-client doesnt return as many tests as expected.
For example in my servers bb-hosts I have

 AAA.BBB.CCC.DDD XYZ.bla.ac.uk # ssh ntp http://XYZ.bla.ac.uk/

This returns the server tests: conn ssh http ntp

If I declare and export required variables in the
 /etc/default/hobbit-client file as below

 HOBBITCLIENTHOME=/usr/lib/hobbit/client

 export HOBBITCLIENTHOME
 export HOBBITSERVERS
 export CLIENTHOSTNAME

Hi Jason,

thanks for the report.

I have no idea why this was working in my local setup, but I could
reproduce it when reinstalling the hobbit client. The problem was that
HOBBITCLIENTHOME needs to be exported as you found. Additionally, the
variables MACHINE and MACHINEDOTS were missing from the environment.
Setting them in the init script fixed the issue.

MACHINE=$CLIENTHOSTNAME
MACHINEDOTS=`hostname -f`
export HOBBITSERVERS HOBBITCLIENTHOME CLIENTHOSTNAME MACHINE MACHINEDOTS

Will be fixed in the next upload, rsn.

if there's any information about you to be displayed, put out that header.
It could even generate a 404 page if the value of login is not known at

I'm actually doing that for the other pages there, the problem here is
that there might be additional information/links that are still useful
while nothing (no packages) is displayed. I'll try to find a solution.

Re: Eric Deplagne 2007-02-18 [EMAIL PROTECTED]
The idea is that I want to sign different sign-level to different uids

   is a nickname).

Of interest in the .caffrc to achieve my goal is
   $CONFIG{'gpg-sign-args'} = '--ask-cert-level';
   $CONFIG{'gpg-post-sign'} = 'save';

Hi Eric,

a late followup - doesn't gpg behave the same if you put
ask-cert-level in .caff/gnupghome/gpg.conf? I think we'd prefer that
over more config options inside caff.

Bug#412512: gpg-key2ps does not handle unicode names

2007-09-16 Thread Christoph Berg
Re: Thijs Kinkhorst 2007-03-02 [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Thank you for your report. The problem is clear, but the solution isn't:
PostScript does not include unicode-capable fonts by default, and can
only handle 8 bit fonts. It's an old format from the time that
unicode-issues were unfortunately not on the agenda.

I am not aware of any straightforward solution to this. However, I'm of
course open to a patch or a plan how to tackle this isse.

I've just googled a bit and couldn't find any straightforward way to
convert utf8 to something postscriptish. While we should probably
recode the output anyway to latin1, that doesn't solve the problem for
all other characters. (Maybe //translit is a worthwhile workaround...)

I guess we should optionally output latex code with the proper
encoding. (That would also ease solving the print photo ids problem
in #316131).

Bug#445309: output result to stdout

2007-10-04 Thread Christoph Berg
Re: martin f krafft 2007-10-04 [EMAIL PROTECTED]
 $ … | patch -o- some/file
patch: can't output patches to standard output

 (a) that warning should go to stderr

Only if -o is stdout.

 (b) there can't be a real reason for this. It should be trivial to
 add.

Just tried it here, s.out is the -o file:

16718 open(s.out, O_WRONLY|O_CREAT|O_TRUNC, 0600) = 3
16718 fcntl(3, F_GETFL) = 0x8001 (flags O_WRONLY|O_LARGEFILE)
16718 fstat(3, {st_mode=S_IFREG|0600, st_size=0, ...}) = 0
16718 lseek(3, 0, SEEK_CUR) = 0
16718 write(3, # Network services, Internet sty..., 4096) = 4096
16718 write(3, 9/tcp\t\t\t\t# Quick Mail Transfer P..., 4096) = 4096
16718 write(3, otus Note\nlotusnote\t1352/udp\tlot..., 4096) = 4096
16718 write(3, rmtsys\t7009/tcp\t\t\t# remote cache..., 4096) = 4096
16718 write(3, ent statd\nenbd-sstatd\t5052/tcp\t\t..., 1917) = 1917
16718 close(3) = 0

That was a fairly trivial patch, no idea if there's more lseek()s or other
syscalls that don't work on stdout for more complex ones.

 uh, no. It's a warning.

Point taken.

I am not sure I understand. You tried it? So you have made a patch
already? Why then use s.out? I need the result written to stdout...

Sorry, that was too big of a leap ahead. I meant to say patch uses
lseek() on the output file, so making it work with stdout will
require some non-trivial (as in 'more than just remove the error
message') code changes.

Bug#445311: limbo with automatically installed recommended packages

2007-10-06 Thread Christoph Berg
Re: To Debian Bug Tracking System 2007-10-04 [EMAIL PROTECTED]
The following NEW packages will be installed:
   libgladeui-1-5
The following packages have been kept back:
   glade

Please don't install recommends: for packages that are already
 installed.

On further investigation the cause could be that I have glade (2) on
hold (via dpkg --set-selections). Version 3 needs libgladeui-1-5. So
apparently apt tries to fullfil the new dependencies, but only later
notices that it shouldn't upgrade glade itself.

Hi Sam,

thanks for the report.

I think we need more context to be able to reproduce that:

* Does the problem prevail with mutt -F /dev/null?
  * -n?
  * -f /dev/null?
  * env -i TERM=$TERM mutt?
  * Combinations of those?
* You seem to use libc6-i686. Does the problem prevail when you remove
  that package?

It does not. I investigated, and found that it is the following line

Re: deckrider 2007-08-16 [EMAIL PROTECTED]

I originally reported this bug here, and it was resolved:

 http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=384076

This problem has just today re-appeared in etch with mutt 1.5.13-1.1etch1

Hi,

sorry for the late followup. The difference between -1.1 and -1.1etch1
is a fix for re-login after imap timeouts.

Could you give one of the later mutt packages a try to see if your
problem is still there, or only in the etch update? E.g. 1.5.16-3 from
testing or unstable (or etch-backports) would suffice.

Bug#373127: updated patch with updated versions

2007-01-10 Thread Christoph Berg
Hi,

while looking at Brice's patch for twin, I also applied the patch for
#377810 and removed the hard-coding of the package version from
debian/rules and debian/control. The X frontend was also broken
(missing) because libxt-dev was missing from the build-depends.
Unfortunately, the bitops patch does not yet fix the tty frontend,
hence I will be uploading this NMU to experimental.

The resulting diff is quoted below - I'll upload to delayed/3 in a

Re: Florian Ernst 2007-01-11 [EMAIL PROTECTED]
I request an adopter for the irssi-scripts package.

 Status:
 - upstream currently stalled, will soon start to update again
 - popcon reports 779 installations
 - easy packaging, but uses stupid ad-hoc patch system -
   dpatch/quilt'ify?

As most of the past patches were by me, I'd be glad to take it.

2007-01-11 Thread Christoph Berg
Re: Brice Goglin 2007-01-10 [EMAIL PROTECTED]
The following patch fixes the FTBFS on mips and should on m68k too. But,
I don't have any m68k machine to test on.

Note that I am actually not very familiar with fpu_control.h. But the
comments near the #define's seem to indicate that this is the correct
way to replace the generic _FPU_MASK_FOOs with mips and m68k specific
 _FPU_MASK_BARs.
