Changing GTK2 shortcuts...
Hello, I am trying to change my GTK2 apps shortcuts just as I used to with GTK1 apps (namely Gimp, now trying to work with gimp1.3). I've modified the /desktop/gnome/interface/can_change_accels key in gconf, but it does not work. I've also tried to set gtk-can-change-accels=1 in a ~/.gtkrc-2.0 (even if deprecated) but without success. Do I miss something? Is it still working? By the way, when trying to talk to gconf from the command-line, I get errors: $ gconftool -g /desktop/gnome/interface/can_change_accels Failed to get value for `/desktop/gnome/interface/can_change_accels': Failed to contact configuration server (a likely cause of this is that you have an existing configuration server (gconfd) running, but it isn't reachable from here - if you're logged in from two machines at once, you may need to enable TCP networking for ORBit) Any ideas? Gnome 2 fonts : weird behaviour in SID
Hello there, I have recently switched to SID to take advantage of the latest Gnome 2.2 desktop, being tired to wait for it to go in Sarge. I am impressed by SID, I wish I had switched before :-) I have a small problem in understanding how the fonts work in Gnome 2.2 : when I set the Terminal Font in the Fonts preferences, I do not see what impact it has on the desktop. Let's suppose I choose a weird font as Terminal Font, such as Nimbus Mono L. Then where should I see an impact? My terminal is not affected by that, nor vim (which seems to use the Monospace font, whatever choice I make in the preferences). I am confused here. Re: Can not get UDMA-100 working... SOLVED !!!
Thanks to anyone for your feedback. Yes, the cable is connected correctly to the MB (blue connector), and to the drive (black connector, since drive is alone). I had also tried `hdparm -X69 /dev/hda` without success. And when I was getting the drive working correctly, then the day after, at machine startup, it would again ignore the UDMA-100 mode. In fact, this seems to be caused by the kernel itself: I've checked in the linux-kernel mailing list archives, and found out that other people had the same problems with the Promise stuff. To solve this, just add idex=ata66 to the kernel parameters in lilo or grub (where x is the ID of the HDD on which to force UDMA-66/100): it will bypass cable detection and force UDMA-100 mode. Now everything is working fine :-) Thanks again to everybody. Cheers, Dominique -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Everything is fine with /dev/hdc (/home), but /dev/hda will always wake up after a few seconds of sleep ! I can't figure out what's provoking this behaviour? I selected the fonts I wanted (including xfonts-base) and installed them again. This cleared up the error message and X started working for me.
