Re: [Declude.JunkMail] OT: Co-Location Space

2005-06-17 Thread Michael Thomas - Mathbox
Hi,

No, actually they monitor specific channels to determine if advertisements
appeared on that channel and at what times. They also collect information on
what shows were running when the advertisements appeared. Because much of
cable advertising is geographically driven, they need access to cable TV in
specific geographic areas.

[Declude.JunkMail] DNS-based test list

2005-06-17 Thread Darin Cox

Question about the list at

http://www.declude.com/Articles.asp?ID=97

I see at the top it says last updated 2 June
2005, and there are some tests that look new to me, but the bottom of the page
with the history of test additions and deletions hasn't been updated in a
year.

Is it possible to have this updated so we know
what's new or dead without having to go test by test through the
list?

I know it would help us greatly in managing our
DNS-based tests.

Thanks,
Darin.

Hi Dave,

I'm in Upper Saddle River and wouldn't mind helping out. We could easily
accommodate the bandwidth on our T3 and T1s - but rack space is tight.
(You'll probably looking for some 30 amps service?)

If you already have a lead for a larger facility, then check them out
first.

There is a place in Pearl River, NY (right next to Montvale) that used to
do
T1s and give you a free office when you bought one from them. I don't
know

what they are doing now, they were ok when I used them for DSL like two
years ago.

Hi all,

I discovered today that I need to move my hardware to a new location next
weekend. Since it takes 30 days to get T1 lines installed, I'm up the
creek.

I have about a dozen servers to move, all but three rackmounted, and we
use

about 1.5mbps at peak during the day.

At the moment, I'm thinking of a temporary home for a month or so, but we
could make it permanent for the right location and price.

All suggestions welcomed!

RE: [Declude.JunkMail] Very slow Queue times...

2005-06-17 Thread Colbeck, Andrew
That would definitely contribute to slow processing, but the EASYNET
lists have been dead for a long, long time.

If you still want to use the data they held, check out the much more
reliable tests here, which also host the legacy lists for EASYNET:

http://www.njabl.org/

You might also want to look for Scott Fisher's recent posts on two
Declude users's sites that track how well various RBLs they use are
performing and adopt some of those good ones. Scott also included a
well-known Internet page where somebody compares the effectiveness of
various lists (it goes back quite a while).

Just in case this helps anyone else:

I've done some digging and noticed that the easynet.nl tests don't seem
to resolve (blackholes.easynet.nl, dynablock.easynet.nl,
proxies.blackholes.easynet.nl) and after removing those tests it seemed
to work much better. Though I am taking the time to optimize our system

a bit better so it can handle this type of thing better in the future.

Not sure if this would have related the problems Darrell mentioned,
since I didn't find any other symptoms of that problem here (but that
problem seems limited to 2.0.6).

[Declude.JunkMail] Strategy or configuration help Needed - A little OT maybe

2005-06-17 Thread Robert Grosshandler
 Hi all -

Turned on a backup mail server as my main server (imail 8.15 hf2) was acting
flakey. Main server has a wonderful combination of declude pro jm and av +
sniffer.

The backup server may not matter in this problem, but it's also Imail 8.l5
HF2. No declude or anything else running on it.

The backup is getting spammed with phishing attempts (from a variety of Ips,
all impersonating mydomain.com).

The phishing attempts are sent to [EMAIL PROTECTED], on the backup server.
[EMAIL PROTECTED] doesn't exist there (or on the main server.) There are no
accounts on the backup server. Backup server gives a 550 error. The
reply-to / return email address is [EMAIL PROTECTED] on the phishing
attempt. So, the backup server sends the bounce message to my main server,
which dutifully passes it along to me.

I don't want to create any kind of a loop.
I want to keep the backup going until I'm sure the main server is better.

Any thoughts?

Thanks ahead of time.

Rob

[Declude.JunkMail] Queue freezing, delivery issues

2005-06-17 Thread Landon Jenkins
I have seen some recent talk about queue problems and while my issues may be
unrelated, it is definitely a problem.

I am running IMail 7.15 and Declude 1.82 Junk/Virus Pro.

Starting Tuesday, June 14, at random times, IMail will accept incoming SMTP
connections, accept the mail, and place it in the queue. However, delivery
is not immediate and in fact, the files in the queue never process. The
files in the queue quickly accumulate and local and remote delivery halts.

When I restart the SMTP service, new incoming messages are processed and
delivered in real time, however the files in the queue must be processed
manually. Once I start the manual queue processing, the queue quickly
empties and all is well until the next time it happens. This is happening at
least once per day. I have not seen any trend in the queue or logs that
suggest what the problem might be.

My configuration has not changed for several months. I have checked the
resolution and responses for RBL's that I have configured in global.cfg. All
looks well there.

I do notice that a similar thread regarding this issue has been discussed at
the IPSwitch forum:

http://www.ipswitch.com/forums/shwmessage.aspx?ForumID=10&MessageID=1260&Top
icPage=1

My system config:
Windows 2000 Server w/latest patches
512Mb RAM
Spool is on a pair of mirrored SCSI drives

I appreciate everyone's ideas.

Landon

Re: [Declude.JunkMail] Very slow Queue times...

2005-06-17 Thread Darin Cox
Did you add new DNSBL or RHSBL tests when moving to 2.06? I thought I saw
someone mention that the cause may have been a particular DNS-based test
timing out, which was slowing down the processing of every email.

If it can be identified, then perhaps Declude will remove it from the
config, announce to all users to remove the test to avoid this problem, and
update the online DNSBL/RHSBL list to reflect additions/deletions over the
past year.

Darin.

I did the same. There is definitely an issue with 2.0.6.16.

It is true

That is true also :)

However I don't understand why the following didn't fail the MAILFROM test

X-Declude-Sender: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [aaa.bbb.ccc.xxx]
