RE: [Declude.Virus] IpSwitch Collaboration Suite Yearly renewal costs up to $4995 per server per year
These are not maintenance fees but cross grade. It's only 10 TIMES the cost of the current renewal for an Unlimited version of Imail. HAHAHAHA We are dumping IMAIL within the next year. It is mopre than Exchange as far as I'm concerned. About triple the price for small in house corporate deveopers that use MSDN versions for their in house stuff. For ISPs you would have to be insane to use their crap. I mean come on. Imail was always crap but with Declude it sufficed. For these prices it is simply insane. There are plenty of products priced like the old Imail (and cheaper) and I am sure declude will be supporting one of them shortly if not already. Plus the alternates I have seen are definitely better than Imail (but that is not saying much really) DC -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Jim Matuska Sent: Wednesday, November 03, 2004 5:54 PM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: [Declude.Virus] IpSwitch Collaboration Suite Yearly renewal costs up to $4995 per server per year FYI for anyone who is contemplating going to the new version of Ipswitch's collaboration suite it looks like their yearly renewal prices are going to be about as much as the initial upgrade costs, I received the below email from IPswitch. RE: [Declude.Virus] IpSwitch Collaboration Suite Yearly renewal costs up to $4995 per server per year
I just got off the phone with IPSwitch and they've done right by me. I was able to purchase/renew my SA at the normal $495 price. So I'm set for another year. They said that price might increase to $695, but that's not going to kill me. I asked if the product is the same: yes. Will I be eligible for 8.2+ 9.0 upgrades: yes. Is the product going to be killed in the future: no. By the product I mean the Imail server without any extras, unlimited users - much as we know it now. Of course I'm happy that I can continue to use declude as well. The price will be going up, so any one who wants to renew an SA, or has 6.0-8.0 might want to seriously think about giving up the $500 now, if for nothing else to have the latest updates and some time to work out what you are going to do. All new purchases must be of ICS, this is only for existing Imail customers. Until that email today from Ipswitch I didn't know what the renewal costs were going to be for the new product (it took them a week to get that response to me too). I'll have to check out those other products you mentioned in your email. Now they say they will sell SA's for a mere $695 to existing users now. Such a deal. They might sell an Imail upgrade to someone who has Standard. Case-by-case. They want everyone to upgrade to ICS. The line looks pretty short. A significant portion of the Imail community is jumping ship, either out of protest over the pricing or a lack of trust in the company. Some are staying either as the path of least resistance or they are comfortable with the new pricing. New purchasers are buying other products (SmarterMail and Merak in that order seem to be the preference, with a few renegades going Linux/Postfix). Me I thought I was going to Merak but now I've gotten my current client to change his buy to SmarterMail. Heck an unlimited domain version is $199 via reseller so why not give it a shot. Re: [Declude.Virus] IpSwitch Collaboration Suite Yearly renewal costs up to $4995 per server per year
My advice: Get it in writing. Verbal communication can always be denied later on. It has happened to me way too many times in the past that I'm told something when I buy, then the company that sold it later denies that they told me that thing when I question changes.
