[Bug 437429] Re: No GUI to configure/disable login sound

2010-08-30 Thread NoOp
OK, this works:
http://www.liberiangeek.net/2010/07/disableturnoff-startup-booting-sound-ubuntu-10-04-lucid-lynx/
I've found just changing System – Administration – Login Screen uncheck ‘Play
login sound’ works it's not necessary to modify ‘Gnome Login Sound’ in System
– Preferences – Startup Applications.
Sorry for the added noise.

2010-08-30 Thread Abhishek
The heading GNU Info Pages section under Advanced Topics is also
unreadable. The method to reproduce is pretty much the same as above for the
man pages:
1) System - Help and Support
2) Advanced Topics link in left sidebar
3) GNU Info Pages
4) The heading appears same as in above screenshot for the Terminal Commands
References page.

[Bug 204202] Re: gnome-terminal ignores current keyboard layout for ctrl+key shortcuts

2010-08-30 Thread MilkaJinka
Bug #487604 says that the bug doesn't come from gnome-terminal but from
GTK+2 and states that this bug entry is erroneous. Yet Ctrl+[key]
mappings work as expected in most GTK+2 applications. This bug seems to
come from VTE instead, as in bug #307888

I made some tests with several applications other than gnome-terminal :
 - uxterm: when switching keyboard layout, Ctrl+[key] mappings are correct,
they follow the current layout. Is not using VTE
 - konsole: same as uxterm, correct behavior. Is not using VTE.
 - xfce4-terminal: incorrect behavior, same as gnome-terminal. Is using VTE.
 - lxterminal : incorrect behavior, same as gnome-terminal and xfce4-terminal.
Is using VTE.

So we can see that the problem relates to libvte instead of gnome-
terminal, as it is present in all applications using libvte.

[Bug 626661] [NEW] Totem movie play opens, but won't play anything

2010-08-30 Thread Robert Matney
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: totem

I have an external DVD player that I hooked up to my computer one day to
play with Totem Movie Player. Well, the DVD had trouble loading and now
my Totem Movie Player doesn't recognize the external DVD player nor will
it play anything at all. I have tried reinstalling it but the reinstall
process fails every time. When I open the program the Movie Player opens
up but if I try to launch anything it reads Error stating file
'/media/24302/VIDEO_TS': No such file or directory, stating that The
Folder Contents Could Not Be Displayed. I don't know what or how this
happened so I tried installing another program, Kaffeine, and it will
not work either. If I could get some help on this it would be much
appreciated. Thanks.

[Bug 310000] Re: Keyboard shortcuts don't stick with multiple keymappings

2010-08-30 Thread surreal
I disagree, for what it's worth. In #204202, the problem is with in-
program shortcuts (ctrl+z to suspend current job in Terminal) working in
an unexpected way while here we are dealing with desktop shortcuts
(super+t to launch Terminal) not working. Perhaps the cause is the same
or close enough, but wouldn't the symptoms have to be more similar in
order to really call the bug reports duplicates? That's not a rhetorical
question -- I actually don't, but would like to, know.

[Bug 621795] Re: rhythmbox/totem crash when scrolling over volume button. seems random.

2010-08-30 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. However, your crash report is either missing or challenging to deal
with as a '.crash' file. Please follow these instructions to have apport report
a new bug about your crash that can be dealt with by the automatic retracer.

If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable apport
in /etc/default/apport and restart.

If you are using Ubuntu with the Gnome desktop environment - launch nautilus
and navigate to your /var/crash directory and double click on the crash report
you wish to submit.

If you are using Kubuntu or Xubuntu you can file the crash using
/usr/share/apport/apport-qt --crash-file=/var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash in a
terminal - where _my_crash_report.crash is the crash you would like to report.
I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will
automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more efficiently.
Thanks in advance for your cooperation and understanding.

[Bug 626712] [NEW] Rhythmbox opens in minimized mode when plugging in Mp3 player

2010-08-30 Thread pt123
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: rhythmbox

Rhythmbox opens in minimized mode when plugging in an Mp3 player device,
rather than showing up on the new screen.

This is undesirable when considering the device is selected as open
with.

It gives the false impression to the user something has gone wrong,
either system has ignored the request or it has crashed.

This is worse for new users.

Apparently, Nature papers are particularly challenging. I just tried this one,

but correctly oriented and stapled.

[Bug 626742] [NEW] right-click on animated GIF causes GUI to hang

2010-08-30 Thread Graeme Ritchie
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

Ubuntu 10.04 LTS
Gnome 2.30.2
Nautilus 2.30.1

Right-click on an animated GIF file brings up the usual file
manipulation menu. I would expect to be able to select a Rename or Move
to Deleted Items immediately. Instead, the whole user interface (all
windows) hangs. The more basic images there are within the animated GIF,
the longer the duration of the hanging. The pause is noticeable with 4
images inside the file; with 72 images, the delay is over a minute. The
context menu appears immediately the right click is made, and remains on
the screen, but nothing will respond. There are signs of considerable
hard disc activity. This effect happens only on the first such access of
a particular file during the Nautilus session -- subsequent right clicks
on the same file during the session give an instant reaction with no
hanging/freezing of the screen.

[Bug 612553] Re: Unicode input mangled

Yes, after setting LC_ALL and the Terminal encoding it sorta works - For
example, Norwegian ø is displayed as \303, and if I try to type å on
the shell it just blinks and displays nothing. But it's probably too
late anyway; my other machines don't have this problem, and I won't be
using this one anymore.

[Bug 626752] [NEW] GDM auto-logging logs-out forces to relogin...

2010-08-30 Thread Dmitrijs Ledkovs
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gdm

I'm using maverick uptodate.

I have automatic login enabled.

The computer boots up and shortly after plymouth I get to my desktop. My
startup applications start to load up (e.g. chromium web-browser,
indicators etc.).

I'm then presented with the The keyring was not unlocked at login
dialog as usual. After typing my password and clicking unlock the whole
desktop disappears and I'm presented with GDM login screen, althougth I
should see it at all.

Alright I login, no unlock keyring message appears. Use desktop
normally. Upon logout I get One application is still running... which
lists PolicyKit authentication daemon. Hmmm? Possibly the unlock keyring
dialog which got stuck in the previous auto-login-ghost-session?

[Bug 589899] Re: If both top and bottom panels are set to top then post upgrade to lucid gnome-panel hangs

2010-08-30 Thread DavidW
I upgraded again from 9.10 to 10.4.1 yesterday, since I coudn't see the bug on
my notebook a week before.
But it is still there!
I changed orientation to the bottom on the shell in
~/.gconf/apps/panel/toplevels/panel_0/%gconf.xml and could log in again. After
putting it back to the top, login was broken again. After adding a new panel to
the top and moving the applets to it, then removing the old panel, alle works
ok and I can login again with two panels at the top.
Unfortunately I have only be able to reproduce this bug once on a seperate demo
account: I switched bottom panel to the top. All worked great. Next I switched
to human skin and no desktop effects. Then I was not able to login at the demo
account! As said, unfortunately I have only been able to reproduce this once,
yesterday.
If anyone is seriously interested in debugging this issue, I can send him my
buggy .gconf directory from a backup of mine.

[Bug 626826] [NEW] Nautilus NETBIOS share resolving

2010-08-30 Thread dolphinaura
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

Nautilus currently requires that the NETBIOS name of the computer be
resolved before it displays the computer.

This is a HUGE issue because many users cannot resolve the address due
to the fact that...

1. Some routers simply forward DNS requests to the ISP.
2. No Winbind installed. (no local resolver)

I believe that we should simply display the computer and its shares, if
we can find its IP address. This will remove the need to install winbind
and/or having a local DNS server.

** Affects: nautilus (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

** Description changed:

[Bug 607709] Re: Unused upstream files missing in the source package

2010-08-30 Thread Olivier Naudan
This bug can be closed, as the upstream bug was rejected.
Rationale is that gstc4l2xoverlay.c is not used and not functional as is.
On short term, for OMAP we are maintaining a derived working version.
On longer term, a working v4l2 plugin will likely be moved to gst-plugins-bad.
