Another workaround would be to put something like "unity-settings-daemon --replace" in one of the login/start scripts. The workaround from #21 does not work. It just happend again. Sometimes the wrong layout is already set right after boot and you have to change it before you are able to login or sometimes it happens when switching to another window. I have two Acer laptops, both have been upgraded from 13.10 to 14.04 and both have this problem. Some observations on Trusty: The indicator always shows the correct layout even if the actual layout is not the same. In /etc/default/keyboard the setting is correct. The X-Server log says it set the correct layout (de in my case). Possible workaround: Run "sudo dpkg-reconfigure keyboard-configuration" in a Terminal. This worked for one reboot at least. I checked the upstream bug again and it seems this actually wasn't the bug I was having in Precise since it got fixed in Empathy 3.3 and Precise uses 3.4. I think you have to run the setup-utility and configure an exchange server. Otherwise Evolution won't even notice the extension. That's the reason why I cannot test it, because I don't have access to a valid exchange server. Nevertheless, this bug is fixed upstream and if the package got removed from Ubuntu anyway there is not much sense in trying to get this fixed for Precise since the chances are very low that a fix will ever be released (would need a SRU and translation bugs usually don't apply to this). If this is still a problem for anybody using Precise I suggest to install the package manually. Same happend to me when playing a song preview in Ubuntu One Music store and then trying to play a preview of another song. This happens every time I do this so it's easily reproducable. I also tried several times to transfer an affected song (always the same) to the ipod and it actually worked one out of about 20 times I tried it. It's not a problem with the ipod since I can transfer music using Banshee and gtkPod without problems (although gtkpod displays some errors at startup). Gtkpod reports an error with SHA 1 checksums for iPod_Control/iTunes/iTunesDB which are different than the ones for iPod_Control/iTunes/iTunesDB.ext according to gtkpod (if this is important for my problem …). I see this problem with a regular internal CD drive. Insert Audio CD -> Rhythmbox does show it for a few seconds, then it disappears from Rhythmbox. Readding by opening it results in the same behavior -> CD displayed in Rhythmbox for a few seconds then disappears. I'm seeing the same issue on my notebook. The settings window is too large to fit the screen. When you open it you cannot see the buttons at the bottom. When you try to click on anything it kind of moves up so now you can see the buttons at the bottom but not the upper part of the window (see attached Screenshots). Work-around 3 worked for me too on a AMD64 Ubuntu 10.04 and this is applied in the Fedora-patch I mentioned in my last comment. I think this was solved by the update of flashplugin-installer to version 10.1.53.64ubuntu10.04.1 released yesterday. At least it looks like the update fixed the issue on my system (Lucid). But I think Youtube also made some changes to their website so the problem could still exist somewhere else.
