Re: [Bug 398008] Re: awn uses 100% cpu with gtk+ 2.17.3 (csw)

Launchpad Bug Tracker a écrit :
This bug was fixed in the package gtk+2.0 - 2.17.7-0ubuntu1
This package this the problem on my computer after reinstalling AWN
package from universe repository.

However (but I should search if there is an other existing bug for that)
there is a with compiz when preview's thumbnail plugin is activated :
when it should draw the thumbnail compiz crash. This is true with both
awn packages (from Julien's ppa and universe repository).

[Bug 373167] Re: After installing Thunderbird, preferred applications shows both Mozilla Thunderbird and Thunderbird

2009-05-28 Thread Id2ndR
I managed to workaround the trouble :
$ sudo rm /usr/bin/thunderbird

The facts are that :
- gnome-default-applications-properties looks for mozilla-thunderbird and
thunderbird executables and show corresponding entries in the menu (Mozilla
Thunderbird and Thunderbird),
- thunderbird package install both /usr/bin/mozilla-thunderbird and
/usr/bin/thunderbird links (the target is ../lib/thunderbird/thunderbird for
both).

Usefull commands to understand the facts :
$ strace gnome-default-applications-properties 21 | grep thunderbird
$ dpkg --listfiles thunderbird

Re: [Bug 40732] Re: totem-gstreamer does not support 5.1 surround sound

2009-05-18 Thread Id2ndR

Nope. When I use the VOB file in the bug description above, it says
Surround 5.1 but I can't hear enough to confirm whether it truly is or
not. Other than that, all files I've tested, including the one you
linked to, show up as Stereo.

I think your pulseaudio setup may be wrong. You need to change the
pulseaudio configuration to use more than 2 speakers. You can install
pavucontrol to monitor the output of each channel.

As launchpad is not a forum, you may answer me directly if you want more
precisions.
Others may add more comments later if they got the bug or may write that
it's fixed.
Perhaps you have a more recent version of Totem than I do? Mine says:

 Totem Movie Player 2.26.1
 ... using GStreamer 0.10.22
I've got the same versions as you : the jaunty ones.

Yes it works. Try with this file :

-48khz-448kbit.ac3, play the file, toggle lateral panel on (F9), and
look at Audio part : you'll get Surround 5.1 canals.

[Bug 336592] Re: gnome-screensaver-preferences crashed with SIGSEGV in g_closure_invoke()

2009-03-09 Thread Id2ndR
I've got a trouble that I tink is directly related to this bug.

When my screen is lock (idle time or resume), I see the screensaver, enter my
password, and the screensaver keeps running like a kind of animated wallpaper.
I just have to kill the process to be able to use my computer normally.

I also tried to run gnome-screensaver-preferences and got a stange result :
- run gnome-screensaver-preferences
- click on a screensaver = it will run the preview it normally
- click on something else : a button, an other screensaver, or try to close the
window = the preview keep running by the windows won't close.

I tried to to a backtrace of this and got this (extract) :
(no debugging symbols found)
(no debugging symbols found)

[Bug 216266] Re: Usplash without progress bar on shutdown.

2008-09-25 Thread Id2ndR
The behavior changed in Intrepid, but it's not good so far.

Now, each time you launch gdmsetup, it will add 3 empty line more into
/etc/gdm/gdm.conf-custom beetween current GraphicalTheme directive and
[chooser]. Consequently usplash disappear at shutdown when it was OK.

By the way it seams that it needs to have only one empty line between
each non empty line to get usplash working correctly in Intrepid.

I've done diff on gdm.conf and gdm.conf-custom files only. There is no
differences in gdm.conf but there is these empty lines in gdm.conf-custom.
So if someone who still have the bug can try to edit gdm.conf-custom, remove
these 3 lines (if they exist) and test it, it whould be helpfull.

I'll also try to revert the diff (adding empty lines) to see if the bug
reappears. If it doesn't, there may be others files impacted by the act

[Bug 150193] Re: Remote Login via XDMCP is not working in Ubuntu Gusty/7.10

2007-12-10 Thread Id2ndR
Jose,

No I haven't made a mistake. I put an other example. Here we want to do the
same thing except that we also need to patch the source.
To resume :
- get the source : apt-get source (instead of wget)
- build environment for compilation : apt-get build-dep
- patch the source (this wasn't done for the other package)
- build package : dpkg-buildpackage -b -rfakeroot (I just don't know what is
-uc switch that Kip used)

Re: [Bug 150193] Re: Remote Login via XDMCP is not working in Ubuntu Gusty/7.10

2007-12-09 Thread Id2ndR

I managed to go as far as downloading the source and applying the patch
however when I am having troubles rebuilding the package. I gave it up
for today but will try again tomorrow.

 Thanks again for yr guidance.

There are explanation in bug #173890. I put these bellow (the package
should be updated) :

Instead of adding the -d option to dpkg-buildpackage you can do the
following command before anything else (this installs the required
dependencies).

sudo apt-get build-dep flashplugin-nonfree

That downloads and installs all of the dependencies for the flash plugin
(including development dependencies).

So the corrected instructions would be:

sudo apt-get build-dep flashplugin-nonfree
wget
http://launchpadlibrarian.net/10756602/flashplugin-nonfree_9.0.115.0ubuntu2.tar.gz
tar -zxvf flashplugin-nonfree_9.0.115.0ubuntu2.tar.gz
cd flashplugin-nonfree-9.0.115.0ubuntu2
dpkg-buildpackage -b -rfakeroot

I can confirm that it works using tsclient on localhost (that use
Xnest). I just have a keyboard layout trouble but that not the trouble
of this bug.

[Bug 148474] GDM doesn't show login screen using XDMCP

2007-10-03 Thread Id2ndR
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gdm

System : Ubuntu Gutsy.
Display : one with intel 1280x800, other with proprietary nvidia 1280x1024.

Steps :

(wireless connection will still be active).
- Try to use XDMCP using Option menu
= Screen will blank, and X logo will appear on the screen, less than one
second. Then, screen will blank again and local gdm screen will be back.

Corresponding errors in /var/log/syslog :

No it's not a duplicate since it is able to restart. And I also can login after
having activated XDMCP.
It don't work only if I try to use XDMCP (and return automatically and
correctly to local GDM login screen).

[Bug 122599] Re: Wrong memory usage displayed

2007-06-29 Thread Id2ndR
Ok, that was the trouble, sorry for my mistake.

And I suppose that I'm wrong too about memory usage show on graph
because it's written User memory so it isn't total memory usage as
shown in top.
Is it possible to show total memory usage in GSM ? I think that is more
useful that user memory usage to see is there isn't memory enough in the
computer.

[Bug 122599] Wrong memory usage displayed

2007-06-27 Thread Id2ndR
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-system-monitor

In the Ressources tab on GSM, memory usage reach 40% on my computer. If
I use top commande instead, I can guess that it's more than 90%.

In Process tab, I have VMWare running on my computer and GSM display
37MB used for it rather it is 644m 230m 224m (for VIRT RES SHR) in
top. So I wonder the meanful of GSM memory usage.

In fact there seems to be two problems :
- while playing a mms steaming file, the file seems to be download completly
before be played.
- pitfdll seems no to be actively developped, and the package is from 20060515.
This package doesn't allow to play file encoded with wm3 codec as we expected
it to do.

VLC is able to play the file correctly :

[Bug 69564] Troubles while play streaming video

2006-10-31 Thread Id2ndR
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: totem-gstreamer

I've installed gstreamer0.10-plugins-bad in order to be able to play mms
stream file with gstreamer.

Next when playing a streaming video, totem seams to load a part of the media in
cache memory. Then it stay on playing 0:00/1:59 a long time (about 1 or 2
minutes). After this I can heard the sound but I can't see the video.
Furthermore, if I hide the totem windows and unhide it then, the area of the
video become pink.

I've put the output bellow that also should allow you to reproduce the
bug.

(The video needs wmv3 support : I also installed gstreamer0.10-pitfdll
and w32codecs)
