[Bug 268949] Re: Volume control applet does not handle keyboad up and down on Intrepid Ibex
@Pedro, thanks for that additional information of grabbing focus which I missed before. Just as I was reading the bug mail in thunderbird, I pressed the volume up/down buttons on my laptop and the active mail being marked in the thunderbird started blinking. If there is any additional info that I can find in this issue, I am ready to help by providing it. -- Volume control applet does not handle keyboad up and down on Intrepid Ibex https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/268949 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 268949] Re: Volume control applet does not handle keyboad up and down on Intrepid Ibex
I am facing the same issue in Ubuntu Inrepid. I have a Volume mute, up and down keys in my keyboard, in addition to having a Fn+Esc=Mute, Fn+F2=Vol Up and Fn+F1=Vol Down key combination as well. When playing some media in a player, be it Rhythmbox or Totem, I could use either of it to reduce the Volume as in the volume provided by the Volume/Sound applet in the notification area as well. But now, when I use these buttons I still get a Volume applet popup, but this is not anyway relating to the notification area's Volume applet. As a result, when I press the keyboard keys though the popup shows volume to be changing, there is no actual change in the Master volume. Thus my keyboard volume buttons are actually of no use in altering the volume. I had to use the notification area volume applet every time I want to change the volume. Am attaching my lspci -vvnn output to the bug report. Am not sure which package does the sound/volume applet falls into. Please let me know if it requires additional information. ** Changed in: gnome-volume-manager (Ubuntu) Status: New = Confirmed -- Volume control applet does not handle keyboad up and down on Intrepid Ibex https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/268949 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-volume-manager in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

Thank you for taking your time to file this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Can you state why you want to burn the playlist as a data file? Rhythmbox has a feature to create Audio CDs from a playlist, but the playlist by itself is not written into the Audio CD. There are few upstream bugs about including the songs in the CD as a metadata (http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=378097) but none is reported on storing the playlist itself. If am not wrong, the playlist is available as XML file in ~/.gnome2/rhythmbox/. Am not sure whether this is a bug, as this feature doesn't exist in upstream as well and no bug filed on it. [Bug 263500] Re: Create Folder in Nautilus is counterintuitive - does not apply to selected folder
Thank you for taking your time to file this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Does the above behavior only happen when you are trying to open a Windows share or happen with the local filesystem directories as well? What I found Nautilus to be doing is it uses the Location mentioned in the text box above the listings to use as the directory to create the new folder. For example, if I drill down to /home/foo/bar1/bar2/bar3, select bar4 folder in this directory and select FileCreate new folder, it creates the new folder in bar3 directory instead of the bar4 directory. As the Location path doesn't change when a folder is selected causes the new folder to be created in the current Location path. This might seem to be a bad behavior but makes sense considering that you can select multiple folders from the current Location path. When you have selected multiple directories then it doesn't make sense to create the new folder in each of them, and hence it creates in the Location path which is a single directory location. In your case, please check what does Nautilus shows when you are at your target location. If the new folder doesn't get in the shown Location path, then it might be a bug. [Bug 256373] Re: rhythmbox tag editing issue (back button in file property menu become inactive)
I could reproduce the bug using the following procedure, 1. Open the playlist and order it with respect to the album title alphabetically. 2. Select the first song in the list (the top most) and add 'z' before the first letter (mine was adding 'z' in front of 'adada'). 3. This doesn't move the file immediately to the last position. Now press the 'forward' button as if moving to the next song property. This moves the song to the end of the list, but the back button is inactive and forward button is active for the same song as though it is still in the first position. 4. Close the property window and open the property for the same song file again through right click menu property. 5. Now remove the 'z' added in step 2, but this doesn't immediately move the song to the top of the list as it was originally. 6. Press the back button, which causes the song file to move to top of the list. But the property window still shows an active back button and inactive forward button as though last item on the list. The bug is that although pressing back or forward button after making a change which will reorder the file position in the list is working properly, it is not able to take into consideration the current position of the file and activate/deactivate the back and forward buttons after the file has been moved through the list. I have also attached screenshots taken at the end of step 3 and step 6 with this comment. [Bug 243431] Re: Can't copy to disk mounted under a Samba share if space doesn't exist in the share
Thank you for taking your time to file this bug and help make Ubuntu better. As far as I have enquired, when you mount a remote file system on your local machine using your samba share, may be on a different partition, still it's size is only the size of the source file system and not of the local filesystem. Hence a 5MB remote FS mounted on a 10MB local FS is still 5MB only, as the remote FS can't take anything more than 5MB. Thus, what you are reporting is most probably not a bug at all but an existing constraint rather. If nobody else can confirm this as wrong, we should be closing this bug. -- Can't copy to disk mounted under a Samba share if space doesn't exist in the share https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/243431 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to nautilus in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 243431] Re: Can't copy to disk mounted under a Samba share if space doesn't exist in the share
To put it better, a samba shared FS on a local system is still representing a remote FS and the operation you want to do on it are nothing but what you want to be done on the remote FS. Thus, when the remote FS has only 5MB size it wouldn't be allowing any operation running out of space, like copying an 8MB file to it. When this remote FS is mounted on a local FS, it still needs to reflect the same character or else it doesn't fit as an ideal sharing of a remote FS locally. Hence, it shouldn't allow you to copy a file to the locally mounted shared FS, when the file is bigger than the space available in remote FS. If it allows you to copy it to locally mounted+shared FS, it doesn't make sense as it still can't be reflected on the remote server due to non-availability of space. Thus it is not a bug, but rather the most logical response not to allow copying a 8MB file over a remote shared FS of max size available=5MB, but locally mounted on an FS which has max avail size=10MB(as a local FS, but not when it represents the remote FS). If you can prove otherwise, please feel free to reopen this bug. Can you put your case more clearly? * What's the size of space available in the source FS * What's the size of the partition you are trying to mount the samba share on? [Bug 243431] Re: Can't copy to disk mounted under a Samba share if space doesn't exist in the share
So what you are accessing through Samba share is actually a 5MB partition by itself? And this 5MB partition is actually a mount point of 10MB partition? [Bug 222308] Re: Huge Usability Problem
I agree with the orig. reporter that it is a usability issue which needs to be addressed. Most people want the media players to be minimized to the notification area while playing and in almost all players this is done by pressing the close 'X' button on the window title bar. In Rhythmbox, though it can be minimized to the notification area by clicking the icon while it is playing the media, the player closes out if the X button is closed. This is in contradiction to what most other players do and users will be expecting the minimize behavior to happen rather than the close behavior. It would be great if the right behavior is implemented in Rhythmbox as well. ** Changed in: rhythmbox (Ubuntu) Status: New = Confirmed -- Huge Usability Problem https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/222308 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to rhythmbox in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 183699] Re: Does Totem work or is there something that works.
When you open a media file which requires additional plugins, it automatically downloads the necessary plugins and installs them, provided you agree to do so. A few of the media file formats require non-free plugins/codecs and hence are not enabled by default. If you are ok with using non-free codecs, they are enabled and used for you. [Bug 183443] Re: Only beginning of certain mp3s are played
I tried to play the file in totem and it shows+plays only the first 3 seconds of this file. But when I try the same in other media player, namely amarok, it shows+plays 2:27 mins of the song, which is perhaps the entire song. [Bug 144355] Re: Incorrect Math in version 5.9.14
I think the behavior of taking 6% as 6/100 is correct to keep things simple, when you do not give a % of something, it is interpreted as % of 1. This is the reason for 1360 - 6% giving the answer of 1359.94. The argument can be that the calculator must apply the % of the number before it, i.e. 1360. But this can become a bit tricky when it is a part of a complex calculation like 150 + 240 - 10% + 300 - 10%. So, as per the bug the expected behavior is.. 150 + 240 + 10% of (150 + 240) + 300 - 10% of (150 + 240 + 10% of (150 + 240) + 300). This shows that how tricky it might become that the calculator needs to be extra intelligent. Presuming it to be a simple calculator providing basic mathematical functions, interpretation of 6% as 6/100 = .06 is not a bug. -- Incorrect Math in version 5.9.14 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/144355 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
