[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1830416] Re: Firefox shows multiple master password prompts on startup when user has multiple home tabs that require passwords
[Expired for firefox (Ubuntu) because there has been no activity for 60 days.] ** Changed in: firefox (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete => Expired -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to firefox in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1830416 Title: Firefox shows multiple master password prompts on startup when user has multiple home tabs that require passwords Status in firefox package in Ubuntu: Expired Bug description: Ubuntu 18.04.2 LTS I have two URLs configured for Firefox startup. They are for different sites. Each one will go to a login page. I have a master password configured in Firefox. When I start Firefox, two tabs will open to the two URLs, and up until recently, I was prompted once for my master password. Once I entered it, my credentials would auto-fill on both tabs as expected. Today I noticed that on Firefox startup, I was getting two master password prompts. Although entering the master password for one would suffice, it is annoying to have to close out the second one. Also, the second one often pops up and steals focus from the first when I am entering the master password (depending on the relative page load times of the two tabs). I was running Firefox 66.0.5+build1-0ubuntu0.18.04.1 when I first noticed this. I updated to 67.0+build2-0ubuntu0.18.04.1 and the problem persists. I just installed 19.10 on a new laptop with a 4K display and am experiencing this same issue. If I set scaling to 125, 150, or 200%, the setting is remembered and used the next time I log in. If I set scaling to 100%, however, the next time I log in the scaling switches back to 200% automatically. I only want to use fractional scaling for external monitors. Background: This is on a Dell XPS 9360 with a 1920x1080 ~168 DPI screen. Pretty standard configuration. I have my DisplaySize set to 294x165 in Xorg.conf, Xft.dpi=168, GTK font scaling factor 1.0. So I grabber unity-settings-daemon & libunity-settings-daemon from comment #33 for disco and installed (need also libcolord2_1.4.3 package to resolve dependensies). The keys are working now. 10q, Khurshid! -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to unity-settings-daemon in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1755106 Title: /org/gnome/settings-daemon/plugins/media-keys/custom-keybindings/ fails to load Status in unity-settings-daemon package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Bug description: $ dconf dump /org/gnome/settings-daemon/plugins/media-keys/custom-keybindings/ [custom1] binding='BackSpace' command='gnome-session-quit --power-off' name='gnome-session-quit --power-off' [custom0] binding='g' command='gnome-terminal --geometry=80x99-0+0' name='gnome-terminal --geometry=80x99-0+0' $ In spite of the above, time to time, not always, but since 18.04 much much more frequently this settings fails to become active just after booting, ... my account is logged in automatically just after boot. If I log out and log in again, then these key bindings work. If I go to the system settings, and define again, then these work again. Earlier, before 18.04 this phenomenon was rare, namely once a week at most. But since 18.04 it is almost guaranteed, not deterministic, but highly probable, that after an initial boot or a warm reboot these key bindings will not work. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1852101] Re: Monitors keep turning on when in power saving mode, every time.
I don't see evidence that the peripherals are to cause here. This has persisted now for about a year, has persisted across multiple upgrades (18.10, 19.04, 19.10) as well as complete hardware replacement (CPU intel -> AMD, GPU nVidia -> AMD). So I'm convinced this is a software bug. Paul White [Ubuntu Bug Squad] ** Changed in: thunderbird (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to thunderbird in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/812451 Title: address autocomplete goes berserk when you type spanish characters Status in thunderbird package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: Steps to reproduce: You need a Spanish keyboard (this may happen with some other languages as well). 1. Let's suppose you have a couple of contacts called John Smith and Steve Johnson in your address book 2. Open Thunderbird and click Write to compose a new message 3. In the "To:" field start typing "jo" 4. The autocomplete will show at least two possibilities: John Smith and Steve Johnson, and possibly more if you have more contacts which match 5. Now type a í or ú or ó or á. On a spanish keyboard, this is done by first hitting the "´" key and then hitting the desired vowel key. I guess the issue will exist with any character that is typed by hitting a sequence of keys Expected: the typed character (e.g. í) should appear, so you have typed "joí", so any autocomplete suggestions should disappear (unless you have any name starting with joí in your contacts) Observed: autocomplete automatically chooses "John Smith" as if you had hit the TAB or ENTER key. Note that the characters í, á, ó, etc work perfectly fine in my system and I can write them without issue, (even in Thunderbird when I am writing the body of the message) except for this issue. Strangely enough, this happens in most cases but not always. For example, I have a few contacts whose name start with "sa" (none of them with "saí"), but if I type "saí" it behaves as expected. However most examples I test do reproduce the issue. I haven't been able to narrow down the exact pattern. A real life example: I had to write to a person called Elías which I thought I had in the address book but I didn't. In my address book I have a "Circuito Electrovisiones", a few "Elena" and an "Elisabetta". So I typed "elí"... While typing "el" the expected options appeared automatically in the list, but as soon as I got to "elí" it immediately selected "Circuito Electrovisiones" (and added a í at the end after the email address) which does not contain the "elí" pattern at all. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1811105] Re: Browser hangs when 'open with' dialog opens.
** Description changed: - 1) Ubuntu 18.04.1 LTS x86_64 with GNOME 3.28.3. + 1) Ubuntu 18.04.1 LTS x86_64 with GNOME 3.28.3., XFCE 4.12.2, Thunderbird 60.9.0, Xed 1.4.6 2) Firefox: Installed: 64.0+build3-0ubuntu0.18.04.1 3) Dialog box 'open as' to respond to click events in elements and whole browser not get inoperable. 4) Dialog box 'open as' hangs, gets inoperable to click commands (close, cancel, ok, save file) when trying to open some attacked file. My browser started to hang when the dialog 'open as' appears. It's very useful since it quickly opens an attached file from gmail or browsing pdf/doc files. When the dialog opens, both the dialog and the browser window get extremely slow and i have to click several times for the dialog to close. No other button responds and sometimes the crash dialog asks if i want to force quit or wait. I'm having this problem for two weeks now and got so annoyed that sadly had to switch back to chrome. This is a very nice feature that doesn't work on said browser. I already uninstalled/installed, cleaned data and installed a nightly build without success. Right-clicking on one file brings up a menu from which I select 'properties'. Using the 'back' and 'next' buttons I adjust artist, title, album etc. So far things are working fine. When I reach the end of the list of prior selected music files sometimes (rather seldom) the 'back' button turns to grey and becomes inactive. Strangely enough the 'next' button is still active even thought there is no next file in the selection. While the 'back'-button in the properties menu is 'out of order' I have the close that menu and manually choose another music file from the selection. This occures to be rather strange to me. There could be something going on with the GUI of the file property menu. If you need any further description or system output from my laptop please let me know. I am running Ubuntu 8.04 on an IBM T40 laptop. However, the Repeat button in the toolbar, is not greyed out. To the user, it looks as if Repeat mode ought to work, but it doesn't as it's a feature, so it's confusing. So would be great to make the Repeat button unsensitive/greayed out, when playing podcasts, to indicate clearly that it's disabled on purpose. Also, the "Shuffle" mode (in my use case at least) doesn't make much sense for podcasts either, so maybe it could be made unsensitive as well. If your xmodmap settings are idempotent, then an awful yet effective solution to this is to use inotifywait to detect additions to /dev/input, and rerun xmodmap when this occurs. Here's a script: https://github.com/mgsloan/mgsloan- dotfiles/blob/5efd7becaa173f2b6500aad0cc3f3724ebe22783/env/scripts /xmodmap-on-input-change.sh -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to xorg-server in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/287215 Title: xmodmap settings not getting honored when keyboard devices are hotplugged Status in xorg-server package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-input-evdev I use xmodmap to map the caps lock key to the meta key with the following in my ~/.Xmodmap: ! ! - map capslock to meta key ! remove Lock = Caps_Lock add Mod3 = Caps_Lock This works correctly on Intrepid on my lenovo T61's built-in keyboard. When I plug in a USB keyboard, caps lock is not mapped to meta, though it still is mapped that way on the built-in keyboard. If I then re-run xmodmap on my .Xmodmap, caps lock on the USB keyboard gets mapped correctly; however, unplugging and re plugging in the USB keyboard results in its caps lock key being reset to the unmapped state. This worked correctly on hardy. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1846398] Re: Fractional scaling has significant visible tearing in Xorg sessions
Thanks for the feedback, but I don't believe I am using fractional scaling. My scaling is set to 100%, but I have changed the font scaling to 1.25. If I set font scaling to 1.0, then I see the same tearing. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to xorg-server in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1846398 Title: Fractional scaling has significant visible tearing in Xorg sessions Status in X.Org X server: New Status in xorg-server package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: On my laptop, fractional scaling seems fine, including watching a YouTube video. It has a quad HD display. Enabling fractional scaling on my desktop which is attached to a single 4k display, fractional scaling isn't usable. The video appears to be constantly refreshing and not using the same acceleration as if I just run at 100% or 200%.
