I fixed that and was still getting 3003 reports from you. It could be that you pull from a different flex.a.o mirror in EU and my change hadn’t propagated out there. IMO, this 3003 issue was the last big concern I had, so I will count up votes shortly. -Alex

IMO, the script asks you about all of the things in the paragraph you quoted, excepting testing the results of the build. The installer build does run an automated test of ant_on_air. But my point about minimum scrutiny was that checking a release can take minutes not hours, because you don’t have to scrutinize every word in the various text files each time, especially for releases without huge changes to the code base. > >The PMC in general, and the PMC chair in particular (as an officer of the >Foundation) is responsible for compliance with requirements. [2] But again, I don’t know of any documentation of the minimum level of effort, time or scrutiny required in order to be considered compliant. We’ve done our best each time, but as you know, we still find mistakes long after we ship something. I’d rather have more folks try to review than not bother because we make it sound too hard. -Alex > >1. http://www.apache.org/dev/release.html#approving-a-release >2. http://www.apache.org/dev/release-publishing.html#release_manager >
Re: [VOTE] Release Apache Flex SDK Installer 3.2 RC2
Hi, > but I don’t think there is a minimum level of scrutiny required in order to > cast a binding > vote. As per [1] you need to: "Before voting +1 PMC members are required to download the signed source code package, compile it as provided, and test the resulting executable on their own platform, along with also verifying that the package meets the requirements of the ASF policy on releases.” So yes there is a minimum. That being said the script does do most of that and even if you don’t vote or not 100% sure of the requirements then checking / testing a release in the time you have is still a good thing to do. The PMC in general, and the PMC chair in particular (as an officer of the Foundation) is responsible for compliance with requirements. Well, it worked for me, with both cache on and cache off. I did both twice. I’m wondering if you are choosing some version of AIR or some CDN is redirecting differently in the US than where you are. So, if you have time, run it again with just verbose logging (no progress logging) and post the results so I can try to see what URL is causing the problem. Thanks, -Alex

While we don’t want PMC voters to “not follow procedure”, the goal of the approval script is to make following procedure less time consuming. More senior Apache folks will correct me if I’m wrong here, but I don’t think there is a minimum level of scrutiny required in order to cast a binding vote. You don’t have to labor over every word of each text file like README, NOTICE, etc. We certainly don’t want you to close your eyes and just type “yes” at all the questions in the approval script, but I’d rather have more eyes doing at least some checking of the release than discourage folks from participating at all by making the process seem onerous. But no worries if you don’t want to take the time now. I do hope you will take some time (hopefully less than an hour) when we get around to voting on releasing your code. -Alex
Re: [VOTE] Release Apache Flex SDK Installer 3.2 RC2
Aha! Your cache is on! I’ll try that shortly. That usually means a file’s URL has characters in it that are not allowed on Windows. Regarding the progress bar, I found some articles that claim that AIR does not always report bytesTotal and bytesLoaded correctly. I ran a log and saw exactly that in the progress on Windows (but not Mac). I’d say we try to fashion a workaround some time in the future. I want to get this release out and find out how this as3httpclient helps (or not). I’m pretty sure there will be an Installer 3.3. -Alex On 6/22/15, 7:02 PM, "Frédéric THOMAS" wrote: >I've been trying without cache and it has been working, tried again >without cache and been working again. >We've been in 2 seeing the error 3003 and me repeatability until I >disabled the cache, not sure it is linked though or even it worth >investigated more ? > >For the progress bar, it was almost at each fast steps, I checked in the >log for fast steps and seen things like this, not sure it is related. > >copyfiles: > [copy] Copying 0 files to >D:\SDKs\FlexJS\nightly_PF16.0_AIR16.0_fr_FR/ant/lib >progress 0 0 > [copy] Copying 14 files to >D:\SDKs\FlexJS\nightly_PF16.0_AIR16.0_fr_FR/bin >progress 0 14 >progress 1 14 >progress 2 14 >progress 3 14 >progress 4 14 >progress 5 14 >progress 6 14 >progress 7 14 >progress 8 14 >progress 9 14 >progress 10 14 >progress 11 14 >progress 12 14 >progress 13 14 >progress 14 14 > > >Frédéric THOMAS > > >------------------------ >> From: aha...@adobe.com >> To: dev@flex.apache.org; webdoubl...@hotmail.com >> Subject: Re: [VOTE] Release Apache Flex SDK Installer 3.2 RC2 >> Date: Tue, 23 Jun 2015 00:15:56 + >> >> I got home and tried to install FlexJS on my home Windows computer and >>it >> worked fine there as well. RE: [VOTE] Release Apache Flex SDK Installer 3.2 RC2
Go to the Vote Thread, follow the link to the source kit, download the approval script, open a console, type ant -f ApproveInstaller.xml -Drelease.version=3.2 -Drc=2, follow and check as requested by the script, once ok, install the installer from the release folder, if you had a installer 3.2 installed before, uninstall it first, play with the new installer and report.
