[Marketing] new co-lead
Hello I would like to announce a new co-lead of the Marketing Project, Cristian Driga. As one of the most active contributors I'm sure you will agree that Cristian needs little or no introduction. Cristian is the Project Lead of the Romanian Native-Language Project and Marketing Contact (MarCon) for Romania. In addition, he has contributed greatly to many OpenOffice.org marketing activities including the development of the market surveys, polls and voting mechanisms, and was the founder of the Art Project together with Vitor. More recently, Cristian has been very active in encouraging and implementing the use of the OpenOffice.org wiki for use by the Marketing Project. I am very enthusiastic about Cristian's why.openoffice.org initiative and the activity that both he and John have promoted these last couple of weeks. The leadership structure remains in place as John and I will continue as the project co-lead and lead respectively with regard to project lead votes. That is, I am the primary voter and John is my deputy. Initially, so that Cristian and John can focus on generating interest and producing why.openoffice.org, I will continue to carry out the project administration. For example, responding to requests to join the project and queries from within and outside our project. Cristian will join John and I in planning and project management. [Marketing] why.openoffice.org in native languages ?
Hi, In the brainstorming category: One idea involving all NLC projects and aimed at communicating the why.OOo message in an unified and consistent manner in all our native languages: Having replica sites of the http://why.openoffice.org site in each native language, presenting in the same manner as the main english site the reasons and advantages of using/addopting OOo and hosted either in a subfolder of the why.ooo site like: http://why.openoffice.org/de/ .../es/...etc. Just some thoughts and for which I've started a talk in the wiki: http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/wiki/Talk:Why#why.openoffice.org_in_your_native_language I think having replica sites in native languages would once again prove our multi-cultural nature and that we are dedicated to speak our user's languages. Please provide input in the wiki too for tracking all ideas easier. The 'manifesto' for this mini-site is here: http://marketing.openoffice.org/servlets/ReadMsg?list=dev&msgNo=23171 I've set up an area within the Marketing section of the wiki with a few holding pages starting at http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/wiki/Why and would invite contributions there. The idea is that we can brainstorm and develop ideas quickly within the wiki. As the pages mature we can then go through the pain of editing html, creating graphics, and committing to cvs for the live 'why' site.
