I'm inclined to agree with Alex that not every open-source plugin can or should become part of NetBeans out of the box. The more that's added to the core IDE, the more needs to be checked and maintained for each release. There's also a middle ground between third-party plugins and the IDE, where we might consider plugins donated and developed at ASF in separate repos and still under their own release cycles? Perhaps the thing to look at in the IDE would be improving the plugin experience and signposting, eg. on the start page? Re: Spring Support
Hi Alex, Well, now that we have a successful and proven quarterly release cycle... maybe that could make it more attractive for great plugins such as yours to be integrated directly into Apache NetBeans, out of the box. It is a great compliment to you that people are asking for this -- and this question used to be about WildFly. :-) Gj On Wed, Jun 10, 2020 at 3:01 PM Alessandro wrote: > Hi all, > in general I don't think that now that NetBeans is an open source project > all the existing open source plugins should be integrated in it. Re: Spring Support
Hi all, in general I don't think that now that NetBeans is an open source project all the existing open source plugins should be integrated in it. Spring framework and Spring Boot support in Eclipse, for example, is provided via plugins ( https://marketplace.eclipse.org/content/spring-tools-4-aka-spring-tool-suite-4). Having Spring support as a plugin means it is available for more than one NetBeans version (I currently compile against NetBeans 8.2 API to encompass as many versions as possible). If anyone would like to contribute to the plugin feel free to do so at https://github.com/AlexFalappa/nb-springboot. As far as feature requests go, please consider that I develop the plugin in my free time. I admit I haven't been very active recently but if I will find myself unable to work on the plugin anymore I will certainly consider contributing it to the NetBeans project as a mean of letting others continue developing it. Re: Spring Support
Hi all, Well, this open source thing is about contributing, right? IMHO if Christopher has detected a missing feature "that really hurts" then he can of course start contributing to Alex's repository. And of course we'll be happy to answer any NetBeans related questions he may have while doing so. Whether Alex wants to port, upgrade, sell, donate or delete the plugin is something Alex should decide, if he wants to, whenever he wants to :-). I think we just can make one request to Alex: being able to meet and have one or two beers(*) together sometime in the future! Kind regards, Antonio (*) Of course anybody can increase the number of beers. Two is the maximum for me before I start forgetting things. Re: Spring Support
Can we get a React Native plugin? The last thing we need maybe. All know that it's hugely popular. Though Netbeans already support Android apps development, we need another product that is hugely popular and capable of cross platform mobile apps development. Is there any kind hearted people who can do this for Netbeans? On Wed, Jun 10, 2020 at 9:22 AM Laszlo Kishalmi wrote: > Well, it depends on the plugin author Alex.
