A question

2013-09-13 Thread David Stang
For the last several years I have had a need to "blast" messages to a group of
people. An example might be, "A canoe broke loose from its mooring in a
windstorm". And with a database of around 500 property owners a notice needs
to be sent advising this issue.

From the tone of messages, it appears to me that this could be something that
could be easily done with the database AOO has in their package.

I have searched for solutions but have found no way to achieve this outcome.

Is there any possibly someone could develop an application to fill this need?
Might it be something that already exists?

Any thoughts or suggestions/

Does the issue has be reported by me to be able to change the fields?

So bugs assigned to devs that are not active anymore are still assigned to them?

config error on Windows 7

2013-09-13 Thread Clarence GUO
Hi~
When I set up build ENV on Window7, I met a error when configure, what does
it mean?

Can't find MS Visual Studio / VC++ at ./oowintool line 236.
configure: error: oowintool failed to copy CRT

Cannot find VC. But I already saw configure said "checking the Microsoft
C/C++ Compiler... found "

Thanks,

Good, so the vigra erf() problem can be considered as solved.

I am not sure why. Looking into it now.

I found [1] ("Whoever created that tar file did so on a platform that
allows gid_t values of 32bits."), and this probably means the boost
tarball was packed on a too new system. Or that gtar on your system
needs to be updated.

The compiler option "-library=no%Cstd" could have introduced some
trouble. In AOO 4.0 we want to use this compiler STL (wrapped with
boost's TR1 library to fill the missing TR1 pieces and for easier porting).

I see this flag is set in
main/solenv/inc/unxsol*.mk
and in
main/solenv/gbuild/platform/solaris.mk
and suggest to remove it in all places.

#1 "/opt/aoo-4.0.0/main/solver/400/unxsoli4.pro/inc/stl/climits.SUNWCCh"

This header shouldn't be there if your configure step used the
"--without-stlport" option. If you didn't use the option then please
reconfigure the AOO build using it.

Please see e.g. the Linux configure options in [2] as a reference.

Hi Jake,

excuse my top posting, I am sending from my phone.

That sounds good and the project can always benefit from new volunteers. And
COBOL is of course not used anywhere in our code ;-)

I don't have the link to the building guide in place but I recommend that you
start to build OpenOffice on your own.

After that you can start to debug and learn the code by just stepping
through It's normally C++

Then you can look which areas are most interesting for you and pick an issue
that you try to analyze and fix...

For any kind of question come back to the list here.

[WWW]Forum not delivering e-mails

2013-09-13 Thread Ricardo Berlasso
There is a problem with the automated emails on the forums:

http://forum.openoffice.org/en/forum/viewtopic.php?f=102&t=64264

I checked on the ES forum by sending a PM from a test account to my main

seems quite urgent because accounts are activated through confirmation
email, so no email no new account.

Something changed today, because until yesterday notifications worked
without problems.

By the time I disabled the email sending on BZ it was already too late.

The impact was pervasive, hitting the email infrastructure in general.
Essentially, Google saw an unusual number of emails coming suddenly
from Apache, and put a rate limit on emails that it would accept from
us. That directly impacted those with GMail addresses, but also
backed up the outgoing mail queue at Apache which impacting everyone
else as well.

The queue should be clearing now and the old notifications delivered.
I don't know if new account emails have a time limit on when the
accounts can be confirmed, but if it is shorter than a 24 hours users
might need to register again.

Sorry all for the trouble I unleashed here.

I note that on the thread "Mails from iss...@openoffice.apache.org" Rob
mentions he turned off email notification in bugzilla. A curious
coincidence though it doesn't seem that should affect the forums.

[RELEASE]: release candidate (RC) for AOO 4.0.1 available

2013-09-13 Thread Jürgen Schmidt
Hi,

we have prepared a release candidate for AOO 4.0.1 and have uploaded the
files in the usual place where we uploaded the snapshots.

The RC is based on the SNAPSHOT tag, rev. 1521921 (corresponding AOO401
branch, rev. 1521908).

Available languages: ast cs de el en-GB en-US es fi fr gd gl hu it ja km
ko lt nl pl pt pt-BR ru sk sl sr ta vi zh-CN zh-TW

New languages are Khmer, Lithuanian, Polish, Serbian Cyrillic,
Vietnamese and Traditional Chinese

Most of the other languages have been updated and improved.

The RC can be found under
https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/OOOUSERS/Development+Snapshot+Builds
(don't be confused by the name SNAPSHOT of the links).

A detailed overview of the fixes made for this version can be found
under
http://people.apache.org/~jsc/developer-snapshots/snapshot/RC_fixes_1513395_1521921.html

Please verify and review the RC carefully and help us to improve the
quality of AOO. If you find serious problems please let us know immediately.

We will fix only serious showstopper issues!

Definitely a good idea: +1

I hope when this new list is ready to go, it can be announced to other
lists and maybe even "announcements" as well.

That would be good for a one time push, then it's just a matter of having
this stuff reasonably easy to find for folks coming along later - but then
there lay the trick ;)

The key is to extend your targeted persona-based approach (which is a
very smart approach) with a web page (or a wiki page) that is equally
targeted and rich in relevant keywords, so it is findable in
Google/Bing for someone looking for that kind of material. The
brochure could then be linked to from that page.

This is a good approach. For the time being, Drew could also attach his
nice series of brochures to

https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/OOOUSERS/Why+OpenOffice
so that they are not lost in Google Docs and mailing list messages.

I had noticed it too; you are using a black and white version of the
Apache feather logo instead of the one in full color, see

Status on VB2010 support to build AOO

2013-09-13 Thread Alexandro Colorado
thbet from the IRC channel tried to build AOO 4.x in VB2010 but had some
issues at compile time.

Doing some googling I saw that VB2010 was not supported back in 3.4.1. I
wonder whats the current status for it.

I found LibreOffice also had that issue but it was fixed on their 4.0
release notes.

Judging by the patch, seems it was mainly some maintenance to the current
DLLs in VS10.

Is this just a matter of updating the Build Guide? or does AOO still can't
be compiled in windows/visual studio 2010?
