Even then a bottom menu is better than a pull-down menu with everything
important in the top row?! The question is pretty odd, with the kbd out you need
it upside-down even more as your distance to the top grows. With static kbd like
the Passport or other BBs but Priv, a bottom oriented UI would fit better than
this everything top layout.

Sorry for hijacking this thread but this needs to be commented as it is so
frustrating that I consider buying another phone.

How about merging the good things from the 1.0UI back into 2.0 and make pages
work upside down (important things in bottom half?!). The 2.0 UI only works on
the Tablet as you use that mostly two-handed. The phone with buttons to reach on
top like the settings-shortcuts in eventsview was also horrible in 1.0ui
settings... The whole thing needs to be reworked, eventsview settings pulled
from bottom and events history upside down (for example).

Just from reviving my N900 two weeks ago and booting my Jolla with 1.0UI made me
wish for a merged 1.0+2.0-upside-down UI and a device with proper h/w keyboard.
We should get BB to use SFOS on BB Passport!

Even the size of the Jolla 1 is too large for proper single handed use,
swiping from the opposite side of the thumb holding the device is almost
impossible which kind of defeats the purpose of gesture based

Hi Dirk,
If it's a rebranded aqua fish, which I believe it is, it won't have the other
half feature. I didn't see any mention of nfc, even though that was the
specific feature I was looking for.
Any one in the know please correct me if I'm wrong. Without nfc it isn't enough
improvement over my Jolla to consider it.
Just my 2 pence.

2016-05-26 Thread Oleksii Serdiuk

The reason is Android drivers / adaptation version.

Jolla has Android API level 16 (4.1.2), but BLE was introduced in API
level 18 (4.3+).

Jolla Tablet should have API level 19 (4.4+), so if someone has one they
could check BLE support in Android.

Aqua Fish came out after the tablet, so I'd expect at least API level
19, thus BLE support in Android.

I think that the question might have been BTLE support in Android. On
Jolla Phone it doesn't work due to old Android version.

From the specs it looks like a "rebranded" Aqua Fish, so I expect BTLE
support in Android to be present.

OK, that never crossed my mind since I could not care less about Android
support :)

But indeed if it is that, what makes you think that the Android support
in the Intex phone would be different version than what's on the Jolla SBJ?
I'd imagine both have exactly the same Dalvik version since the OS
version is same too...

Well, I suppose that depends on what Qualcomm supports on their chip.
The intel tablet also has a more recent version of android.

But it would be interesting to have BTLE support for native programs,
and I think we need a recent Qt library for that.

Well, there was no option for Finland either! :(
What I did is I just ignored it, and set my country as "France" and added
sender information that my country is FINLAND in reality...

Hello,

The announcement says “Jolla C device can be shipped to EU countries, Norway and
Switzerland” but I can’t select Switzerland as shipping country.

I think that the question might have been BTLE support in Android. On
Jolla Phone it doesn't work due to old Android version.

From the specs it looks like a "rebranded" Aqua Fish, so I expect BTLE
support in Android to be present.

OK, that never crossed my mind since I could not care less about Android
support :)

But indeed if it is that, what makes you think that the Android support
in the Intex phone would be different version than what's on the Jolla
SBJ?
I'd imagine both have exactly the same Dalvik version since the OS
version is same too...

Any info about the BTLE support?

I'd be *really* surprised if BTLE did not work since there currently
doesn't exist any BT chipsets without the feature.
It most probably works as easily as with the previous Jolla device.

Will this new Jolla C have Android support included? Even if I can rely 90% on
Sailfosh OS only, there are still a few things I need Android for (mainly a
bank app). I can't afford a new, developer-only device: to justify the expense
I need it to become my main, everyday phone too.
Can you please clarify this point?

Yes, it has Android support (that's what I read under specs)
