Hello John,

Please leave me an email at [EMAIL PROTECTED] if you were
successful, or hear my signal coming back. Power out is 30W

One additive possibility for other Hams is to
connect to your Pax2 responder and to leave a message. You will see all received
messages by clicking on the button "mail" (which opens your Packet/Pax/Pax2 mail
box).

I'm also monitoring 14075 today for PAX2, if you care to try a

Does anyone know how to fix the center frequency at 1000 for receive
or is it supposed to wander in PAX search mode ?

[digitalradio] Packet APRS net on 10.151 in EU

2006-03-12 Thread rein
To whom it concerns,
in the PR APRS net running on 10.151 LSB there are again a few stations
who apparently do not know how to connect a TNC to a transmitter...
Can the people operating in this net do something about it? They are
splattering 3 kHz down, and make working PSKAPRS on 10.148 difficult.
I would be ashamed to work in a net with such low technical standards!!

2006-03-12 Thread Andrew O'Brien
I uspect that the culprits may be using soundcard packet and over
driving. Alas, they are probably not aware of how nasty their signal
is. It might require several people monitoring 10.151 with software
that can detect wide signals in a waterfall, and then emailing the
offending operators.

2006-03-12 Thread Patrick Lindecker
Hello Dave,

TKS for the Windows references.

1 ms would be sufficient for Pactor 1 100 bauds, as a bit is 10 ms long.

Now, I wonder how transceivers can switch from RX to TX and TX to RX with
respect to the required precision (=1 ms) under the Pactor 1 protocol: 960
msec of TX frame and 290 msec of RX, this cyclically...a mystery but nothing
to see with Windows...

The claimed precision is ~1 ms; see

 http://windowssdk.msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?
 url=/library/en-us/Multimed/htm/_win32_about_multimedia_timers.asp

I have not noticed any serious problems with software-generated CW
up to ~40 wpm or so, though certain Windows actions are inexplicably
pre-emptive: dragging the Task Manager window, for example.

The general reference for multimedia timers is

 http://windowssdk.msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?
 url=/library/en-us/Multimed/htm/_win32_multimedia_timers.asp

Is 1 ms precision sufficient for Pactor ARQ?

I will see what are Windows callbacks, as this seems to be the

One question: do you know the precision of the event timing (as
 far as I
know each thread is switched 80 times/sec maximum, so the
 precision might be
12,5 ms which might not be sufficient to key CW, so I must miss
something...). Suppose you can really start an event at a precise
 predefined
time (as an interruption under DOS), what would prevent to program
 Pactor1
ARQ under Windows (I have a doubt now)?

OK. Check out the Delphi interfaces to the Windows Multimedia

Windows supports an eventing model that eliminates the need
 to
  busy-
wait the CPU. You specify a duration and the code to be
 invoked
  on
callback, and then terminate the thread. When the interval
  expires,
   the specified code is invoked.

I do this with TimerMM.DLL, but you may want to use the
 Windows
Multimedia Library directly depending on the language in
 which
   MultiPSK is written.

Re: [digitalradio] Re: First PAX2 connect

2006-03-12 Thread KV9U
Although I was not able to connect with VE5MU, I did copy a few frames,
but not much of the below listed material.

I just don't think that PAX or PAX2 works much into the noise even
though Patrick does have some information that it can work down to -7 db
S/N or something like that.

Does anyone have any cases where the mode will work into the noise and
maintain a link?

One additive possibility for other Hams is to connect to your Pax2
responder and to leave a message. You will see all received messages
by clicking on the button mail (which opens your Packet/Pax/Pax2
mail box).

[digitalradio] Anyone running digital modes on these rigs?

2006-03-12 Thread doc
Anyone running digital modes on these rigs?

TenTec 580 Delta (not the Delta II)?

Or *any* tube rig, perhaps with a VFO Stabilizer
added?

I need to add a backup rig to my FT-890at and
have to find something *very* affordable.
