Re: [digitalradio] Anyone using DigiTRX (Ver 3.11) for ditigal TV?`
Hey Dave As I understand it, DigiTRX won't run on less than WIN XP.. I tried it with Win98 and failed to be able to transmit. I WAS able to receive pictures and I've been told that wasn't quite normal. Others have not been able to get Digi going on anything other than at least XP; the programs allegedly have been written for no less than that OS. Others have said that you need at least a 1 Ghz machine to make things go in Digi... I haven't seen that myself - my DigiTRX is working just fine. I only need to acquire a linear amp to get the transmit going. I run DigiTRX myself on a PIII @650 Mhz..an oldie. Personally, I like DigiTRX over the current offerings but I've never been one to follow the pack as it were. What do you mean the constellation never stabilizes? Can you pass along your settings as you have them? I noticed that Andrew sent you a message. He's pretty good with the Digi thingies. As I understand it, DigiTRX won't run on less than WIN XP.. No. Digtrx runs happily on win98. But you need 1ghz or better.
[digitalradio] PSK125 on 30M ?
I was parked on 10147 while typing some email and heard some very short audio bursts, each time too quick for me to tune them in . Eventually I locked in on it and tried PSK31 , then PSK63 but with no luck. I then tried PSK125 in the middle of a short bust. Amid the lower case garbage characters I suddenly decoded an upper case QSL. It might have been random but maybe I did decode them. Any idea who is using short burst of PSK125. PSKMAIL perhaps ? -, - Andy K3UK Skype Me : callto://andyobrien73 www.obriensweb.com
Re: [digitalradio] PSK125 on 30M ?
Hi Andy, That QSL is coming from a pskmail server. That is the response to a client sending out a beacon, usually every 10 minutes or so. If you listen around 3 minutes after the hour it should beacon the callsign of the server. Thank you Howard, Andrew, and the others who have chipped in with suggestions. The PC is a Dell laptop PII at 166MHz, which makes your oldie look like a newie Others have also told me DigiTX won't work, neither will HamPal. I'm trying WinDRM but today is the contest and the band is jammed with people making 2 second contacts (how fast can *you* talk?) As to your question about the constellation, I have psoted a picture of a sscreen shot of DIGITRX during an unsucessful receive. http://www.bambinomusical.com/Constellation.jpg http://www.bambinomusical.com/Constellation.jpg --- In digitalradio@yahoogroups.com, w6ids [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Hey Dave As I understand it, DigiTRX won't run on less than WIN XP.. Andy, If conditions are really good tonight you might hear our pskmail server (VE7SUN) or my client (VE7CUS) on 3595.25+1khz using psk125. 80 meters was very good last night as we had a NC station check into our RTTY net last night at 8pm PST with a very good signal. I find Multipsk difficult to use, and I have been using PSK for years.Just too much on the screen to start with. New people need to get on and use a simple PSK only program. Go to http://aintel.bi.ehu.es/psk31.html and read about it first and see what you are going to do. Then go to http://aintel.bi.ehu.es/psk31.html where there are several programs listed, and read up on the different ones. Understood. I've sort of heard grumblings over time about it but never had first hand experience with it. Your insight into it just might be of use to. That said, you'd think that he would be able to at least be able to receive Digi transmissions butas you're pointing out, there's more to this ultimately. Wonder how WinDRM will work for him, under WinME? I have no idea. Have never used WinDRM. But have some experience with M at the college where I worked, and it plainly stunk and we got rid of it within a few weeks after trying it. [digitalradio] Noise Reduction and the digital modes
Noise reduction on my old rig never did much. Now I have a new rig the NR buttons actually appear to do some things. What about noise reduction and the digital modes, is it really helpful? I did just notice that with a Hell QSO NR made the print more blurred. For other modes I have not noticed much other than a lot less speckles in the waterfall. Maybe a graphically empty waterfall helps when a weak signal comes along but i worry the weak signal may get zapped by the NR. [digitalradio] Re: Turkey being served on 80M
I agree for just BPSK31 that Multipsk can be intimidating..but even I sorted it out after abit of floundering about. As for ALE, it is more a system than a modeARQ FAE is actually fairly simple compared to PC-ALE and its counterparts. ARQ FAE might best be viewed as a connected mode independant of ALE; more like PAX/PAX2 on steroids (and hence wider, like people on steroids :) ARQ FAE works quite well, had numerous qso today using that mode but still cringe abit on using a 2000 Hz wide signal for data modes... 73, Bill N9DSJ --- In digitalradio@yahoogroups.com, Andrew O'Brien [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Yes, I thought that. [digitalradio] Re: Noise Reduction and the digital modes
Hi Andy, Assume you mean DSP noise reduction...have never seen any real effect of note either way on digital modes...even on HELL. The noise blanker degrades some WSJT modes but otherwise have seen little impact on received digital decodes. On Hell, at least Feld Hell, the AGC seems to matter alot moreslower AGC seems to de-blur the received print and reduce screen noise. Interesting question though. 73, Bill N9DSJ --- In digitalradio@yahoogroups.com, Andrew O'Brien [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Noise reduction on my old rig never did much. Hi Andy, Well many cringe on hearing me, regardless of mode...at least ARQ FAE is more narrow than the umpteen ssb signals that abound. Is interesting conceptually. Saw you on 80 also but condx between us seemed less than optimum...am sure another night will bode better. 73, Bill N9DSJ --- In digitalradio@yahoogroups.com, Andrew O'Brien [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Yep, I was cringing watching you Bill, seems awfully wide.
