Thanks for the info. I have downloaded the software and I am currently
listening to ur RX.

Good copy, but get a bit of speaker crackle and it stutters at times, but
that could be because I'm using WiFi.

Would be interesting to see if I could hear myself at any of these remotes,
be an interesting test.

I still would like to build a SDR RX, I did see a couple of websites awhile
ago, will have to search them out again.

  Hi Kevin,

You can try this - for free! The console from SDR-RADIO.com can connect to a
remote SDR radio, here's a list of currently running servers:

The list is growing by the week. In the words of a prophet - Taste and Enjoy!

  Andy,

What SDR board are you using?

Would be interested in getting into this type of radio, but would like to dip
my toes first before placing down a few $K for one.

First, check that you don't have the pin inside the KPC-3 set for HT usage.
Their is a pin in the unit that needs to be moved if you haven't so that it
will send the correct responses for an HT and a mobile/base.

Second, check your AXDELAY and TXDELAY's. You might have to readjust those to
compensate for the differences in timing issues between the HT and the
mobile/base.

Third, do you have the proper cable for the Kenwood. Last I remember, there
was a difference in the placement and values of the resistors and capacitors
used between the kenwood version and the ICOM/YAESU/ALINCO/Radio Shack
cables.

If this doesn't work, try setting your squelch to open and setting the command
in the KPC-3 so that it is software controlled for recieve and transmit.

If you have any more troubles, let me know. I have the manual for the KPC-3
here and can probably walk you through the different commands and settings.

[digitalradio] packet not listening fast enough?

2010-02-02 Thread sszretter
Can someone tell me if this makes sense --

I had a RS 2m HT with a KPC-3 and was able to reasonably connect to 3 different
stations.

I switched out the radio and put in a Kenwood TR 2600 HT.

It is lower power (2.5 vs. 5 watts), but those stations still seem to be able
to hear me, and I can still connect to two of them without issue.

However, the third one when I connect to it sends me a message back that I am
connected to it, but my KPC-3 does not recognize the connection and eventually
times out retries.

Listening to it, the difference that I hear is that station seems to respond
very quickly. I am wondering if something is getting cut off, or I need to
adjust something int he KPC-3 to tell it to start listening sooner or stop
transmitting as long...?

Any ideas?

[digitalradio] squelch issue

2010-02-02 Thread SSzretter
I know this is not digital specific, but I am hoping someone can point me in
the right direction - I have a Kenwood TR-2550A mobile radio I purchased
used that I am using for APRS. It worked well at first, but I think it now
has an issue with the squelch.

It transmits fine and receives fine if I test with my 5w portable HT.
However it is not picking up weaker, further away transmissions that I can
hear on the HT.

The HT is using a rubber duck antenna, the Kenwood has an apprx 3' omni in
the attic.

The squelch knob did not seem to work when I received the radio, but I was
receiving stations, so I didn't care.

What do you think I should look at, or can you point me at some places more
appropriate to ask this question?
Thanks!

[digitalradio] Formation of WARC Century Club

2010-02-02 Thread Andy obrien
Following some interest from members of the 30M Digital Group, we have
formed the WCC (WARC Century Club), based on some of the ideas from
the Straight Key Century Club .

The goal of the WCC is to promote non-contest activity on the 30,17,
and 12M WARC bands. This virtual club is for all modes (SSB-phone,
CW, and D igital) as permitted by license class and individual country
regulations. The group issues WCC numbers and encourages the exchange
of numbers with other members during a WARC band QSO. Several awards
have been established.

Please consider joining this group. An application for a WCC number
can be found on the WCC web page at
http://www.obriensweb.com/warc-cc.html. A mailing list has been
established at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/WARC-CC/
