Here in the U.S., digital SSTV is concentrated at 14.233 USB and 7.173 LSB. EasyPal is the main program currently used. 73, Rick, KV9U Carlos Fonseca - Ct1GFQ wrote: Hello All. [digitalradio] Digital SSTV on 40-Generals
Starting this next Saturday and Sunday, Nov 17 and 18, we will have digital SSTV on 40 meters 7.177 starting at 8am CDT or 9am EDT. This is so some of the generals can join us with digital Pic's. We will be using EZPal with rs1 encoding. The purpose of this group is to Help people set up and use the new EZPal. Please join us and we will be glad to help you set it up and get started using the program. We will have a control operator, this will not turn into a 14.230 with everyone sending at the same time.. Even if you can't send yet, join us and look at some great Hi Res pictures. For more in contact me [EMAIL PROTECTED] com (These is, so I'm told, a contest next weekend, which will cause massive interference with us on 7.177- they run splits and don't listen to transmit freq.. But we'll try anyway. If it becomes impossible, we'll try the next weekend same time..
Re: [digitalradio] Digital SSTV
The WAV format isn't significant for interoperability purposes. It's just a way of formatting input and output to/from the sound card in order to get it to work as a modem. This needs to be done without using a compressed audio format which would degrade the signal to noise ratio on send and recieve. Anyone is free to use any suitable format on any platform. Its the audio into and out of the radio that really counts - that's all analogue and a subset of DRM.Hope this helps.Darren, G0HWW. Re: [digitalradio] Digital SSTV?
Re HamPAL You can try the link below - if it still works you can download the current beta from there - bear in mind that the Cat control feature is still in beta but will work with the 3 radios mentioned You will also need the program Irfanview and all Plugins on your computer as well If you cant get it from that site let me know and I shall email it to you de les vk2dsg The CAT PTT control is ready for a bit of testing. It has only been tested with the FT-847, FT-920 and FT-1000 D. Most of the others should work. I am not sure about the KENWOOD rigs. At least KENWOOD has made all the CAT commands standard for all rigs, but it has a different format, so I would be delighted if anyone can tell me if it works. The CommPort settings are up to the user, as he can change things and I have no idea what his settings might be. However the present ComPort settings will usually work although some may require one stop bit. These settings are remembered. To operate. 1. Select CAT PTT Settings. 2. Select the rig. If yours is not there then send me the commands and I will include it. 3. Select the comport settings that your rig or modem require. 4. Select Use CAT PTT Get it from: http://s34.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=232H2H52WY2E90HJXLIGUKUHSF obrienaj wrote: Anyone here worked with Hampal? Re: [digitalradio] Digital SSTV?
Andy, I have tried about all of the digital SSTV programs and Hampal is as good as any of them. Try this site for info and downloads: http://www.kiva.net/~djones/ A word of advice, It takes a fast computer to really work. I had a P2 at 400 MHz and it would take about 3 times the amount of time to decode it as it did to receive it. In other words if it takes 1 minute to receive the file it will take 3 minutes to decode. A 1 gig or faster computer is about as low as you need to try. It is not the receiving that is slow, it is the decoding. You also have to have a very good signal without any noise. All the programs uses the RDFT to send the data. You will also need a graphics program that will handle .JPG2000. There is a link on the above site where you can download a free program. Also on the sight is a lot of information on digital SSTV. You can also ask KB4YZ questions about digital SSTV. He is on almost every week day on 7.173 +/- around 1800 utc. Hope this helps. Re: [digitalradio] Digital SSTV?
Hi Danny, Yes they all work the same. The problems are that they use the RDFT and you either get the file that was transmitted or you don't. Then you have to have a graphics program to view the picture once it is received and decoded. I don't really know if one is better than the other. The computer is also a key issue. I think, and may be wrong, the RDFT converts a binary file to a .wav and it is transmitted in "blocks". If you miss one block the you miss the picture. However you can send back to the station the block(s) that you missed and he can resend just those blocks. Too complicated for me. I am in 2 states all the time. The state of Alabama and the state of Comfusion. Hi. There must be 50 here. Which one works the best with the most? Personally, I dont have time to download even half of these, and even less time to try them all out. Do each of these work on the air with all the rest? If not, its no wonder more people arent into it.
