Note that MySQL isn't working - also that you have McAfee running. There are several threads here where McAfee has been reported as stopping this running - the fix IIRC is to tell McAfee to ignore certain file types used by MySQL... Did you read my post 5 posts up? There's no indication to say that the SB3 has changed in any way since the Logitech takeover - which happened 6 months ago, and the sky hasn't fallen yet. Re: [slim] ss won't open to website
A number of points 1. There was problem with SlimTray which didn't detect slimserver starting up correctly and opened the IE window too soon before slimserver was ready - I think it has been fixed in recent 6.5.2 builds. 2. On my system IE has some sort of cache so that when the "waiting for host" error occur - I had to stop & restart IE before the http://localhost:9000 would work. 3. Some security s/w removes the "localhost" entry from the windows hosts file so you may have to use http://127.0.0.1:9000 or even http://:9000 4. If you have WMP11 installed and running it will use port 9000 and stop slimserver running. -- bpa bpa's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=33787 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss

Re: [slim] Integrating cover art from Amarok
Hi Ben, sorry for the delayed answer, I had some web access troubles for the last days. Of course, you can have my modification, it (the modification) is of rather ridiculous complexity, as I only use the original offline script to gather all the files in a temp directory with as I wrote - .jpg as filenames. To be honest, I own roundabout 1000 CDs but there are only about 25 various artist ones beneath them, so I did not start to struggle with this well discussed issue too long but just did some manual copying and adjusting for these afterwards. As well as for albums/artists containing "/" in the name, so for example for "AC/DC - For those about to rock" the file is called "DC - For those about to rock.jpg" and resides in the subfolder "AC" This works pretty well with SlimServer when handling all artwork files in a common folder. I have attached the original script and the modified one so you can see how little modification there is. For the moment I am pretty happy but as I love Amarok as an in-front-of-the-PC-solution and in parallel I am damn happy with my Squeezebox/Nokia 770 combination (thanks so much for the skin by the way!), I am always interested in anything you might do to the Amarok-Squeezebox-"integration" and also willing to join efforts on scripting in case you need some help or some additional opinion! Hope this is of any help to you! Re: [slim] ANDY, problems with internet radio again
It looks like you're doing OK. The aim is to capture relevant data ideally from just before a connection is made and then stop just after you hear a 5-9 secs drop out on a Squeezebox. For intermittent problem I usually stop a recording session if the problem doesn't show within a few minutes and start again so that the capture file is not huge. I'm nor sure about the windows version but I normally use the "prepare" option so that i can press easily "start" just before I start Slimserver playing the station. Since Ethereal captures everything on the selected network interface - this include confidential data - I shut down all unnecessary apps and services (in Windows MS has a lot of things which use the network in the background). The default Ethereal setup has a packet size limit so that only about 68 bytes of the packet header are saved. I ran a test on a 32kbit/sec WMA station and it saved about 60kbytes for 2 mins - as a result of proxy playing to a SB, the traffic will be doubled. This data also compresses quite well so depending on the size it may be necessary to mail the file. -- bpa bpa's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=33800 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss

[slim] continue play following directory structure
I recently bought a squeezebox and I must say i love it. There is only one major issue that I'm having. I got this huge collection of mp3s. When I browse to a music file and start playback. the squeezebox will play all the files currently in that folder. (lets take a michael jackson album for example) After that Michael jackson album comes a prince album. What I want is the squeezebox to automatically start playing the next available track in the three. so it should start with the prince album track one. Currently it stops or restarts the current album it is playing (depening on the repeat status) Creating a playlist to do this is not an option, with a collection of almost 400GB This would result into a large playlist in which I can't use the search function. -- moroswitie moroswitie's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=10819 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=33831 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss

For example, I wanted to play "The Leaving of Liverpool" by Steve Tilston (from the "Of Many Hands" album). So, I searched for "Leaving of Liverpool". It returned two results - the Steve Tilston track and the same song performed by The Pogues (from the "Red Roses for Me" album). I didn't even know I had that track. Re: [slim] Short bursts of white noise
i use analog outs. i have noticed lil bits of white noise or pops or whatever you want to call them pretty regularly on the SB, and have just gotten used to the annoyance. (i don't mind it too much since usually my stereo is no more than moderately loud and b/c it doesn't seem to happen often during the music) for me, they seem to happen most when SB is having trouble playing a net stream, ~ when it starts or stops. i've also noticed it other times, like when you stop it suddenly. i'll try to pay better attention and let you know when all it does it for me, if its beyond what i said above. -- MrSinatra www.LION-Radio.org Using: Squeezebox2 w/SS 6.5.2 (beta!?) - Win XP Pro SP2 - 3.2ghz / 2gig ram MrSinatra's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2336 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=33774 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss

...and delete songs from playlists all by themselves. Everybody back up their playlists if they're on 6.5.1 is my advice... Try the following - go to Plalists in SS. Pick a playlist. Click on a song, it'll show you the song info. Use the back button in your browser (IE7 for me). Do either refresh or go back to the first menu that shows the playlists - select the same playlist. Surprise, the song you picked previously will be gone from your playlist. Very odd behavior. It's like SS has somewhat of an organic nature - works great initally, the will start to do crazier stuff. For one, more and more of the letter when navigating folders don't work anymore - and they had worked previosuly, until the 7 (PQRS) started to act up, now another has joined the action of not reacting logically... but that's another issue I can live with. Re: [slim] Connecting to Slimserver at Work
To a degree the whole idea of using Softsqueeze brings up a point that some people have wanted: an easy way to duplicate player settings. As it stands now, when I change SlimServer to a different version I have to change all of the menu, display, and audio settings for 2 SB3s and 2 Softsqueeze installs. That sucks. Along the lines of being able to copy settings from one player to another, why not entertain the idea of a new player template. One template for hardware players (which tend to be local) and one for software clients. In the template for the software clients I could set bitrate limiting to 128k and all new software clients would inherit that, and could only be changed by expressly changing it in SlimServer. That would make "mass" Softsqueeze deployment easier, in that the users wouldn't have to set it themselves. -- 4mula1 4mula1's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=3439 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=33543 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss

[slim] Won't play WAVs!
Hi all, Small wierd problem here. Since a few weeks back my Squeezebox 3 has decided not to play back WAV files anymore. I have a fair bit of uncompressed music in this format, so it's a tad irritating. It plays everything else.. MP3, WMA, FLAC etc, just not WAV files, you hit play and it just sits there doing nothing. Now it DOES play WAV files from my other Slimserver (Dad's music) but not from my machine's Slimserver. It was running 6.5.1 and I updated just now to 6.5.2, which didn't fix it, so I'm puzzled! There's none of the bitrate limiting or anything going on in the settings.. As far as I know nothing's changed... But I know a few weeks ago I was trying to play high bitrate DTS / WAV files, these didn't play because of the bitrate, but normal 1411kbit WAV files should! Any suggestions? I have the same issue. After initial scan the artists show under Hebrew characters properly, but at some point later on the Hebrew characters are gone and I see a single '?' instead. I was unable to to figure out any specific action that triggered this. I cannot reproduce it either with an exact sequence of events, however most of the time it appears to be broken. I think even if you open a bug with your workaround, it can help a developer understand the problem. In addition we (any one with non English songs) can vote that we are interested in a fix. My experience with voted bugs is that they are fixed over time. -- ganjastone ganjastone's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=3122 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=33449 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss

The title says it all. In I-Tunes I can tick a box in the album info that tells it not to play in shuffle mode, can I do the same thing in SS?
