Hi Robin, That's what I tried at first. I downloaded and unzipped the files on my ReadyNAS NV, however, I was unable to run the program at all (perl 5.8.8 is installed). I'm no expert in perl or Unix permissions to get a program to run, but I suspect it's something trivial. I've copied all files to a subdir under /usr/bin. When I run the command from your wiki, the following output greets me: Code: Nemo:/usr/bin/ndap/tags/RELEASE_1.0.0# scripts/udap_shell.pl -bash: scripts/udap_shell.pl: Permission denied Nemo:/usr/bin/ndap/tags/RELEASE_1.0.0# If I cd to the scripts directory, I get: Code: Nemo:/usr/bin/ndap/tags/RELEASE_1.0.0/scripts# udap_shell.pl -bash: udap_shell.pl: command not found Nemo:/usr/bin/ndap/tags/RELEASE_1.0.0/scripts# I seem to be unable to run any perl script. As Siduhe has pointed out, there are several on-line tools that can convert from ascii to hex and vice versa. What you need to do is: 1. Take your hex key, e.g. '61626364' and convert it to ascii. This will result in something like 'abcd' 2. Use the resulting ascii string to set the WEP key You will run into problems if you have used hex results in non-printable ascii characters. You could get round that by choosing a nice ascii password, converting to hex, storing the WEP key in your WAP, then using the original ascii to set the WEP key on your SBR. Of course, the best way to fix this would be to upgrade to the latest version of Net-UDAP which accepts WEP key entry in hex. Have you checked the logs? I use Terminal, but there should be a console app as well. Re: [slim] Transporter & NAPSTER
I am a bit confused and I think we may be talking at cross purposes. I am talking about playing Napster tracks via the Squeezecenter web interface, not via the Napster web interface. This may be because I am a subscriber to Napster rather than using the free trial. Are you saying that you can't see Napster tracks in the SC web interface, but can via the controller? For example, I am running 7.4 (Napster integration is also in 7.3.3, not sure about 7.3.2) and I can browse to Music Services in the SC web interface, drill down to Napster tracks, click play, and the tracks play. You should be able to do the same via the web interface or on the Transporter player menu, without using the Controller. What version of Squeezecenter are you running? This may be some quirk of the free trial, but I can confirm that (for me at least) the tracks you are having problems with work fine on a Boom, SB3, SB2, SB1 and Duet (I tried it on all of my players, no Transporter yet sadly). You can only delete it from the current playlist, not delete the track from your library. SC is purposely designed not to allow such destructive behavior. However, if you delete a track from the current _playlist_ by pressing on the "+" button (while in "Now Playing") SC will copy the name of that track to the "Zapped Songs" (or something like that) playlist. Both albums play fine for me, song after song, initiated by pressing the play button from the web interface. Do you see the same (if you try playing via the web interface)? If that works ok, is it only when you try to play from the Duet Controller? What is the exact sequence of buttons you are pressing? Also, you aren't running Squeezecenter 7.4 are you? Re: [slim] Slimserver will no longer start (Mac)
What I do is right click the Squeezecenter icon in the system Preferences folder and delete it. Then open the MacHD and put " Squeezecenter " in the search box in the upper right corner of that widow to see if other folders exist. If they do delete them as well. Then run Onyx. Then install the newest version of 7.3.3 Since you have run Onyx you might try running the Disc Utility ( MacHD>Applications>Utilities>Disc Utility ) that is a part of the Mac OS. I assume you have kept up with all the Mac OS updates if not it's worth checking again. I always run Onyx before and after updates. In any event select the MacHD in the left pane and run Verify Permissions then Fix Permissions if that is necessary. If that doesn't help then put your original OS disc in your computer, re-start it and run Disc Utility again. If other buttons appear when you are running Disc Utility such as Repair run those as well. I know this all sounds like a lot of work but I'm guessing that you have a software problem in the OS. -- avta avta's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1860 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=63511 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Some albums play in song after song while others just play the first track. -- golddustpeak golddustpeak's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=29012 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=63507 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] feature request: file vs track calculator
An experience this week got me thinking about this thread again. After adding some new CDs to my collection I noticed that SC 7.4 reported 4876 tracks in my library, but MusicIP reported 4891. After checking with various OS tools (ls -l in Ubuntu, dir in DOS, Windows Explorer in XP, etc.) I confirmed that I have 4891 FLAC and MP3 files, but somehow SC wasn't "seeing" 15 of them. I turned up the debugging on the scanner to "Warn" and re-scanned, but no clues in scanner.log. (In retrospect I should have turned it up to Debug.) I then compared the track listing in the MusicIP cache with the tracks table in the SC database, which turned out to be pretty easy even without knowing any SQL. I just exported them into something Excel can read, sorted on /path/filename, put them side-by-side and created a flag variable in another column to show where they didn't match. This revealed the 15 files, which turned out to be owned by username (which is normal) and be mode 600 (which is not normal). SC couldn't read the files because SC runs under user squeezecenter, but MusicIP saw them because it runs under my username. A simple user error, although I'm a bit puzzled about exactly how it happened. Anyway I fixed the permissions (644) and now all is good. Now, maybe some kind of double-checking count-the-files-and-compare-to-the-metadata enhancement as suggested in this thread would have caught this. But consider if I had made the mistake one level higher, and made the *directory* unreadable by SC. Then it would have no way of knowing there are audio files to be scanned, and the double-checking wouldn't reveal the problem. So the scanning process would be made more complex (at some cost to develop and maintain), with only limited payback. Which more or less takes me back to what I said in 'post #9 of this thread' (http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?p=316845#post316845): SC shouldn't be expected to do one's basic file housekeeping. Moreover, in some not-very-exceptional cases there is no way possible for it to do that housekeeping, or even verify file totals. -- aubuti aubuti's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2074 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=49429 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] PDA controller solution
Could you (or anybody else) confirm or disconfirm that you have the following registry key on your PDA/Smartphone? [HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Power\State] -> {98C5250D-C29A-4985-AE5F-AFE5367E5006} Supposedly this is the Wifi Device (for WM5.0 and newer) A great tool for viewing the registry (and much more) is: http://www.ghisler.com/index.htm Cheers -- Locuth Use your PDA as SqueezeBox remote -- http://www.sciatec.de/SlimControl Locuth's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=29693 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=62486 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] Rhapsody Implementation Needs Improvement
My point here is that Logitech should be doing more, and on two fronts: #1 - More robust code: 80%-90% of the time I can manually correct the playback issues by pressing rewind, or pause/play, etc. depending on which failure mode has occurred. If I can do it manually, the SC software can do it too. We just need more robustly written error handling routines. Of course it would be preferred to not burden SC code with this, but the reality is that Rhapsody's service requires it. And bottom line, I can't with clear conscience recommend a Squeezebox & Rhapsody combo to a non-technophile given its track record of reliability (or lack thereof.) Which brings me to point #2... #2 - Bang some heads together at Rhapsody: It's seems Rhapsody doesn't really care about (or isn't responsive to) the end consumer. There are threads all over these forums, the Sonos forums, and Rhapsody forums complaining about reliability, and they've been on-going for well over a year. The big-wigs at Logitech need to be taking this issue to their business partners at Rhapsody. It makes everyone look bad when it doesn't work. Although I wonder if this is just such a miniscule portion of Rhapsody's customer base that they don't care? Subscription based music is a huge selling point for Squeezebox. It needs to work. -- ajkidle ajkidle's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=18929 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=63462 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
