[slim] Napster - Sky.Songs - Spotify ?
I've had a Boom for about a year and subscribe to Napster, the combination seems to work very well and I'm very happy with it. However, Napster is currently costing me £10 per month with 10 free tracks. Sky are offering £8 with 15 tracks, I'm tempted to move to sky. I'm also a free member of spotify and would consider going to premium if they started to offer free tracks each month. My question is - Does anyone know if Sky and Spotify are planning to release a plugin for squeezebox's? also Has anyone got any experience with Skysongs? is it any good? Should I stay with Napster? Re: [slim] FATAL: There is already another copy of the SqueezeboxServerrunning on this machine
Do wish there was a way to set debugging on. Is there a log.conf file in the prefs directory ? If so then edit the file using Wordpad and change the following entries - change ERROR to DEBUG log4perl.logger.server = ERROR log4perl.logger.network.protocol = ERROR If there is no prefs file then when running squeezesvr.exe from the command line use the following after cd to the right directory. SqueezeSvr.exe --debug server=DEBUG,network.protocol=DEBUG contrary to help --debug gives log message not --logging. If the problem is a inaccessible port 3483 then logging will give no additional info but please post the complete log as earlier message may show something. Post the complete log as sometimes missing messages are the symptom. -- bpa bpa's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=73387 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Example, 3 albums: 1.) ARTIST: Robert Plant, ARTISTSORT: Plant, Robert 2.) ARTIST: Robert Plant; Alison Krauss, ARTISTSORT: Plant, Robert; Krauss, Alison, ALBUMARTIST: Robert Plant Alison Krauss 3.) ARTIST: Portishead Now I would expect the sorting order to be as listed above, 1-2-3. But ACC sorts the albums in the order 1-3-2, because the ALBUMARTIST of the second album starts with R. Do you have a solution for this? Hi Eyeball, I have some questions regarding this: 1. When you disable TPE2 tag is AlbumArtist instead of band, is the sorting the right? 2. I think this issue is more multi artist related. Can you verify and confirm that even with the TPE2 tag is AlbumArtist instead of band option enabled, that sorting on ARTISTSORT works fine as long as there are no multiple artists on the album? I tend to use ss with internet radio so there isn't always a next track and I don't know in advance what format the station is streaming in. If I'm unlucky and it's in a format that is unsupported by ss I have to restart the service to get it working again. Stopping the player, selecting a good track, and hitting play again doesn't work for me. I might try running the service under a different user account and see if that makes a difference (currently using the BUILTIN\SYSTEM account). ralphy;502861 Wrote: The new display feature is optional and is only started if you supply -D on the command line, otherwise it operates the same as all version before displaying nothing. The -e option will most likely be removed in the next release as it was really only intended for testing. Using it only changes the player identifier reported to SBS when SS connects. It does not change how SS operates internally in any way. The firmware version is hard coded and there have only every been two versions; 0 and 1. I used v1 to determine if squeezeslave supports replay gain or not from the player settings. OK, so I'll ignore the -D and -e options for my setup. I've also tried the ASIO version (using asio4all) and that works great. It seems to be much more responsive and better sounding although I've not done any critical listening yet. I have two soundcards in the server and run two instances of ss, each using its own soundcard via the -o option. I'm yet to investigate how to get the multi-instance setup working via asio as the -L option only shows one device. One more observation for you. I'd be interested in what you think. I have some albums with 2 years in their tags. For example Queen - Queen II. The original album was 1974 but later there was a US Hollywood Records Release with some remixes from 1991. I have the later album but did not want all tracks labelled 1991, so tracks 1-11 are 1974 and 12-14 are 1991. In the QuickRef the album gets labelled 1991. Is it possible to either get it labelled with the year that most tracks are (ie 1974) or have both years displayed? This means that if you are using the ORIGYEAR tag, in SBS the value of the ORIGYEAR tag is mapped to all the normal year-fields in SBS !!. AAC is then also using the ORIGYEAR value. In my opinion, this a good behaviour. If however an album has different ORIGYEAR values (for instance in compilation albums, I set the ORIGYEAR tags of the individual tracks), AAC will take the ORIGYEAR value of the last track of the album (= mostly the youngest year). [slim] Cannot open file error resolved
I don't know if anyone else is having this probem, but ever since I updated to the 7.4 version of SC, I had a problem with 'Cannot open File' errors. I believe that I have finally figured it out. The problem is that I have a wireless N network at home and I had my SB on a 40Mz channel, instead of the standard 20Mz channel. I was playing around with this setting for other purposes, and as I was switching back and forth between channels, at the 40Mz channel, the problem always cropped up. I suppose this could also have something to do with my router, which is the Netgear WNDR3700, but I am glad to have this problem behind me. It also explains why no one else was reporting this type of an error, I thought that I was going crazy... -- Jcharmella Jcharmella's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=24889 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=73579 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

[slim] SB Classic won't stay in 'off' mode, faulty?
I've got a problem with my Classic which I need a bit of help on. It's the latest model on 7.4.1 When 'on' the Classic works fine. When 'off' I'd like it to permanently display the date and time so have set the appropriate screensaver. The 3 file is probably the SqueezeSvr.exe and so the 3 name is the MSDOS 8.3 form of the SqueezeSvr.exe name. The names are assigned as the files are created so the 1 and 2 files are the tray or control panel exe. Understood. But SqueezeTray.exe and squeezeboxcp.exe are listed by name (not in 8.3 mode). It just seems to be the only clue that the server thinks that there could be another version running when there are no other versions running. If you don't think it's significant though ok. There are no other task manager references and from what I see there are no 3843 udp netstat references indicating that something is using the port. No I don't know what that is. Is there a way to figure that out? bpa;503124 Wrote: Any idea what app are you using that requires RSVP ? Thanks all - I have now managed to get them edited properly and understand that the headers are not required. -- andrewtott andrewtott's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=35513 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=73426 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

There's a screenprint on the bottom of my webpage that shows all the conventional programs that are installed. bpa;503124 Wrote: Any idea what app are you using that requires RSVP ? RSVP is when you enable QoS on your TCP/IP interface - is it enabled on your system ? if so did you do it ? -- bpa bpa's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=73387 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

I don't know what QoS is and don't know how to turn it on. bpa;503132 Wrote: RSVP is when you enable QoS on your TCP/IP interface - is it enabled on your system ? if so did you do it ? -- Tom Hutcheson Tom Hutcheson's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=35487 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=73387 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] Announce: Album Catalog Creator v2
SilverRS8;503063 Wrote: Just a note (maybe it is the clue you're after): When an album name is used with different cases they are stored with unique album ID. Example: Jagged Little Pill Jagged little Pill Jagged little pill are classified by SBS as three different albums. SBS itself has some logics that upon presentation considers this as a single album. ACC however will treat these as different albums. In other words, watch for consistency in case usage. I personally don't see this as a short comming but handy as it reveals incosistent tagging. I agree, not a bad 'tag debugger' but that's not the solution here. Thanks for the suggestion. -- fphredd fphredd's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=33133 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=73284 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] FATAL: There is already another copy of the SqueezeboxServerrunning on this machine
RSVP may be a red herring but it is enmabled on your system and I feel it is better to chase it down before doing the nuclear option of deleting and re-installing the network interface. If you delete a network interface you have to be confident that you have all the drivers necessary to bring it up again otherwise the PC is left stranded. RSVP is typically used for media operations so if you have or had Windows MCE installed, RSVP would be enabled. One place to check is Control Panel/Admin/Services/QoS RSVP - you could try and turn it off or disable it and then see if it makes a difference. -- bpa bpa's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=73387 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Unfortunately the service is set to manual and is not running. Can I tell you again that I appreciate how much you've stayed with this? Well, there I said it. Thanks - really. bpa;503162 Wrote: RSVP may be a red herring but it is enmabled on your system and I feel it is better to chase it down before doing the nuclear option of deleting and re-installing the network interface.
