[slim] how can i tell what file type is playing ect?
does anyone know how I can tell what file type is playing, or get extra information about the audio file listing in the Slimserver interface. I have MP3 and Flac Files in my library, that are identical in terms of their file labeling ect. On my old SB2 I used to be able to view the file source and file details from the display, since switching over to a Duet I am relying on my SC controller. or the web interface display. My MP3s are stored in a different folder so even knowing the file source would allow me to work out which file is playing. Excellent update! UI is a greatly improved. In the development plan, please add-in support for people with large classical music collections. [slim] SB3 dropping off network
My SB3 (Classic) used to run fine on the wireless network, then it started stopping whilst it buffered so I ran a cable back to a 100Mb switch and everything seemed fine again. Now, it loses contact with the server i.e. the clock goes off when in standby. If I try and connect again by powering it up it fails. If I remove the ethernet cable and plug it back in, everything springs to life until it loses contact again. My reference 'classical-music'-user doesn't have the artist tags, thats why it worked so good for him. Um - just curious - who is the artist anyway for classical music? (Sorry for this dumb question, my experience with classical music is limited to the one wedding song from the chapel I had to choose :D ) I wouldn't want to change the whole layout yet to allow more or other lines. If you decide that composer is generally more important than artist I could very easily provide one option like 'prefer composer over artist' or the like. Then everytime if the composer-tag is filled it would be used instead of the artist. I am still having problems with the small artwork..it comes up quite fussy and not sharp. TBH, given the number of 'right' ways of tagging classical proposed on the 'ripping/tagging' forum you won't please everyone until you have a layout editor for the now playing screen. (Bit like the MusicInfoScreen plugin) Isn't the whole orchestra playing ? My preference is to put into ARTIST a concatenation of the soloist (if there is one), orchestra/ensemble and conductor (if there is one). If you used a program like 'SqueezePlay' or a Touch or a Radio icons would look the same. One idea: on the server one can influence the quality of images. There is an Option Settings-Advanced-Performance-Artwork Resampling. By QD I meant the omission of a web-UI . Especially when they already have a working UI concept (no RD or focus groups to mess it up ;) ), just copy paste the UI used to manage favorites, put one such UI under each player. This UI of course sets presets instead favorites. Add one tick box use favorites as presets for each player -- Mnyb Main hifi: Touch + CIA PS +MeridianG68J MeridianHD621 and assorted amps SiriuS, Classe' Primare and Dynadio speakers, Contour 4 Contour Center, and Contour 1.3SE for the rear ch. Help! Lost and confused! No all my artwork settings have been set for maximum quality. Is there any chance u could consider making the artwork larger? It's a shame with such a lovely screen estate to display them even smaller than IPeng.. [slim] Players can't see DHCP
I am no network buff, and could do with some help. Since recently being made to change routers by AOL to allegedly rectify my dreadful broadband download speed, my controller and my sbradio can't connect to squeezebox server. Both say they can't find a DHCP address for the network. They still seem to be kind of connected but certainly can't connect to any radio streams, live or listen again. The router thing might just be coincidence - I don't really know what DHCP is (IP address thingy?) but AOL are of no help whatsoever. Oddly though my HTC Hero connects fine to the wireless network. Does anyone have any ideas, cos this is now driving me daft. Ta. In case it comes up for anyone else, Squeezy doesn't seem to work with older versions of Squeeze Center. I have the iPad next to the iPhone and the difference in the sharpness is more than obvious. I can take a photo if u wish. DHCP is the service that hands out IP addresses to units that ask for it. Try pulling the plug on the router and the Radio. Turn the Controller off. From what I've read they are going further the wrong way by implementing menu item hiding for SqueezeOS based players on the players themselves. I bought my SB3 to sidestep the problems of streaming via an XP box. You can now get a small format PC running Windows 7 for the same price or less that an SB Touch - it will handle video too.
