[slim] Squeezebox (original), mysqueezebox.com and Mog issues

2012-05-23 Thread DannyKudos

Hi

I recently replaced my ancient SB1 at home, and re-deployed it at my
office. The SB1 was happily associated with my "mysqueezebox.com"
account, and I was able to use MOG for streaming (I have a premium
account) .

I decided to open up a new "mysqueezebox.com" account for my office
specifically for this machine, and have bought a separate MOG account
for work which I have added to this "New" mysqueezebox account. Now, I
am able to use this new MOG account using the remote, but I cant drive
it through the web interface (which is how I generally drive the SB when
Im at work, via the Chrome extension).

I think this might have something to do with associating this SB1 with
this new "mysqueezebox" account. It isn't listed, and if I try to
connect at the squeezebox itself it tells me the unit it too old to
connect. This must be a new limitation as, at some point, I must have
been able to connect this unit it to my old account.

Any ideas if not being able to associate this machine is at the root of
this problem, and if so, is there any way I can resolve this ?

I hope the above makes sense not the easiest situation to explain
!!

Thanks !

Not sure the SB1 can connect directly to MySB.com, might need it
connected to the LMS server for such streaming. I'd try it at home
first before trying a biz network connection. Did you delete the SB1
from the previous MySB.com account (assuming it can even have a MySB.com
account)?

I have set up an LMS server at work, which it is connected to, and this
server refers to the new MySb account.I have deleted the SB1 from
the original MySB account, thinking that that might have been part of
the problem it wasnt..

As I say, its quite odd. Mog is available on the player via the remote,
but I can get the app to show on the LMS web interface.

For whatever reason, we're not detecting that list as a sortable list. I
will need to get ahold of the logs when you have time.

It is easy to capture logs in the app. Make sure you have CatLog (free
app, link in the preferences) installed -- just go to advanced
preferences and enable detailed logging, then reload the artist list.
Then use CatLog to submit the logs to the address in the preferences.
If you could remind me what version of Logitech software and any
relevant plugins that you have installed, that would probably help too.

1.2 introduced the "new" Jive-style browsing, so I suspect that is when
it stopped working for you. I'm afraid that there's no going back to the
1.1.x-style browsing, although I'd be happy to give you access to the
1.1.x version of the app, if you want to revert (temporarily, or
permanently).

Re: [slim] Creating Playlists

2012-05-23 Thread cathcam

Thanks, you make some good points, seems in some ways we are going in
opposite directions though.

I would like to go ahead and create some playlists, although some of
what I want to achieve could be done by re-tagging the original MP3's
for example with a track number, that isn't the direction I want to go
down I'll have a look and see if I can get videolan to create m3u files
using drag and drop and then save the playlist into a location where the
LMS can find them.

As per the notes in the wiki, XSPF support in the future would be
useful. XSPF seems to be gaining traction in the open software players
like videolan.

If you want to create them manually and if VLC is already your preferred
media software then sure, that would be a good place to start. And if
the VLC standard configuration doesn't support m3u then you should look
for add-ons, because m3u is still a common format. For example, when I
first used Songbird it didn't support exporting m3u, but soon enough
there was a community-contributed add-on that added that feature.

Re: [slim] Dear Squeezebox, still love you

2012-05-23 Thread Clnanderson

Yeah, geez. Ever since my local radio NPR station decided to drop the
Metropolitan Opera Broadcasts back in maybe 2004 or 2005 and I found a
SB3 as the best available solution to stream the broadcast, I've been
responsible for my SB3 and two booms (would have bought another at least
if I had realized in times that Log. was dumping them a few years back.
. .sigh), and then within the extended family it's probably another 5
SB3's and 4 booms. Would probably pick up a radio or a touch, but the
silence from Log. and the gradual death of the product line is preparing
me to switch to Sonos if need be when I move to a new house (rather than
add a few more booms and touchs as I probably would if the line would
continue) and my family continually ask me about whether they can get
another boom.

Just don't get it.

+1

My sentiments exactly. You hit every feature that matters: ease of use
(honest), expandable, flexible, economical, and I've bought much, much
more music in the six years since I bought my first SB than I did in the
20 years before.

[slim] Anyone have a dead SB3/Classic?

2012-05-23 Thread paulster

I've got a SB3 which has a failed VFD display, and I can't get a new one
without waiting for Noritake to do another production run especially,
and to charge more for a one-off piece than the SB3 is worth!

Does anybody have a dead SB3/Classic that still has the display intact
and that is otherwise headed for the trash? UK or USA would be ideal.

Thanks
