Running a Pi with truehl's Squeezeplug for LMS and Triode's Squeezelite via Mini Boombox - sounds great to me - no audio issues. Controllable via Squeezeplay on PC, and Logitech controller app on android. castalla's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=15624 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=97721 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

The display is easy to solve, I can just place a iPod Touch or Android device in a docking station beside it with one of the available apps always running, it's the IR support which is going to cause me a head ache. In similar fashion the on device controls and displays is really important to be able to replace any of my Squeezebox Radio's. So as you suggest we are probably talking about a Squeezebox Receiver replacement/alternative rather than a generic Squeezebox replacement, but it's definitely good to have an alternative even if it isn't the perfect replacement of all Squeezebox models, so keep up the good work. erland's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=3124 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=97721 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] Logitech SqueezeBox replacement for under $30
I just wanted to shout out that I think this is a fantastic initiative to keep the Squeezebox ecosystem alive. The Raspberry Pi already drew my attention but I read that is has some nasty audio quality flukes (in the current Model B version at least), but the pogoplug in combination with a decent USB DAC sounds like a VERY viable plan! Too bad the Pogoplug is so expensive in the Netherlands. Triode and Agillis : keep up the great work!!! BTW ; if the Squeezelite package is picked up by the masses using the pogoplugs, raspberry pi's etc, it might just become the audio equivalent of XBMC. And that means a GREAT future for the Squeezebox ecosystem! [slim] Problems with Sirius/XM,
Siruis just stopped working. Is anyone else having this issue? When I try and play any channel, I get: "Unable to filetype" The message flashes really fast so I cannot see exactly what it says. Sirius was working, but I do not use it everyday so I do not know when it stopped working. I tried rebooting my LMS (Logitech media server) and I removed and added back the sirius app on the web mysqueezebox.com Is Sirius working for anyone else? bengaldave's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=4605 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=97760 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

With the prevelance of iPods, iPhones, and Andriod devices, I think it's reasonable to put forth a squeezebox replacement without a display and rely on another device for the display/control. It seems to be working well for Sonos. Re: [slim] Now the Squeezebox is dead, what would your next system be? And why?
I currently use a customized version of Softsqueeze; which integrates perfectly in my SageTV Media Center software. So, I basically have universal radio, digital cable TV DVR, bluray which are all integrated into one Server->client system. So, instead of having 4-5 different set-top-boxes sitting in each room, I just have a tiny extender box to take their place in each room. I'm curious if there are any new server->extender based "Media Center" technologies which can integrate (universal radio and music playback -squeezebox-replacement-), cableTV (including premium TV channels), bluray movies (ripped or from BD disc itself on the server), etc. I'm just trying to avoid having a big mess of unlike devices sitting in each room. Going back to doing that would be a big step backwards for me. mkanet's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=7965 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=96191 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Re: [slim] Applet AutoSwitch
Hello, yes the first version of the applet is ready to use. I try to never use mySB.com and I made the choice to always go back to local LMS when mysb.com is selected. It can be an option for the next version. The applet covered my needs today by switching automaticaly to a local up LMS (never on mysb.com). My last need is to put a priority with several local (or not) LMS. I put the archive file on my answer, I have not yet the time to create a repository for the project.. If you have some suggestions about (your) needs for this applet you are welcome. I am very new in SqueezeBox environment and I want to know if I go to the right way by sharing my job on this forum. The plugin does that, too. Re: [slim] Applet AutoSwitch
Hello, thanks for you answer. If I understand the purpose 'Server Power Control' is a server side pluging used to manage server (hibernation, shutdown, autowakeup). The purpose of the applet is to act on client side by looking for a local server and switch on it to always use local servers when they are up. For me, when a squeezebox is liked to a server, the only way to connect it to an other one is to make some actions on squeezebox interface and to select an other collection manualy, or to send a command to the server via CLI to tell to the squeezebox to connect to an other server. Perhaps I'm wrong, but it is what I understood. It is why and I created this applet. Currently, I'm using HDMI output using the onboard sound card, and it doesn't have any of the poor sound quality issues of the onboard dac, but does seem to be limited to 48K max output. As Triode says, USB Dacs do seem to have some basic packet loss issues at the moment - hopefully they'll fix them. psketch's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=56555 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=97721 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

[slim] Applet AutoSwitch
Hello and Happy New Year to all. I was looking for a solution to switch automatically to my local LMS (or one of my local LMSs) without having actions on my squeezebox radio interface (and to increase the WAF of the beast). Did not find anything about this kind of tools and I took advantage of my holidays to create an applet for squeezebox radio (non-EU). The purpose of this applet is to switch automatically when a local LMS is available on my private network (PC, NAS, ...). If multiple servers are up on the network, the applet refers an alternate server to be able to switch quickly when the active one go down. For now, there is no LMS primary / secondary or priority level. This option will be for the next version. If the active server is "mysqueezebox.com", it will automatically switch on the local server when it is available. I do not know if other people also have this need, it is for this purpose that I wrote this post. So if people need this functionality, if they want to test the applet, tell me it so I will distribute the archive of the applet. If you are in a DLNA/UPnP environment, the control point structure seen for browsing music is set by the tree structures defined in the server software. For example, MinimServer, presents on every selection a full set of tag based further selection options until you get to the music item you want. A very clever concept. Especially in free multi platform software.
