The problem seems to be with the musb driver which is the one specifically written to handle the OTG modes, which is what the kernels use since they detect what it actually is. This may be wrong since I haven't actually found anybody outright saying this, but from reading between the lines this is what seems to be happening. If this is true it might be possible to force the use of the ehci driver rather than the musb driver. There have also been reports that these issues only occur with newer kernels and that things were working with older kernels. The AM3715 was one of my top contenders, but it does not support DDR2 or DDR3 memory, only LPDDR, which has a memory speed about half of what you can get from DDR2. The memory chips are also quite a bit more expensive and larger than regular DDR2 memory chips. I've ordered a BeagleBone, it should be here this coming week sometime and I can actually play with it and actually see what happens with different kernels and DACs. Great - let us know where you get to. My only waryness with this is that we don't want to get into needing to look at linux usb drivers, so I would prefer to be using the ones commonly used and know to be working. The Pi uses something which appears not to have a hardware scheduler and relies on the interrupt driver to schedule packets - which leads to it missing packets in iso streams... The EHCI principle of having a hardware schedule is working well for us on other devices so is lowest risk... There's a problem with the MySB login right now that makes it impossible for an App to know that it's not registered. Affects iPeng, too. It's that way sine a change they did in December or so. Before, the App got feedback from MySB that it wasn't registered upon trying to contact and could show the status. pippin's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=13777 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=69352 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Re: [slim] Logitech divesting from some product lines
I wonder what they'll do with Ultimate Ears. The high-end in-ear moniors have virtually nothing to do mobile computing. I suspect that a buyer of Ultimate Ears will want nothing to do with the consumer products that Logitech inexplicably tossed into the brand, like wireless speakers and the Smart Radio. Now that I explore this a little more... Logitech has a web site for Ultimate Ears that still has only the higher end in-ear monitors. http://ultimateears.logitech.com But then they also have a site branded UE, which has the consumer junk products like the wireless speakers, cheap headphones and the Radio. http://ue.logitech.com No wonder they lost $180 million in most recent quarter. Absolutely directionless. Logi bought SD 5 years ago now. I guess the management can write-off the asset quietly without calling too much shareholders attention. Plus, technology failed to gain traction on the market, despite significant investment in marketing (or some bs to the same tune.) I don't know if UE is going to stay, but I'm ready to bet the end is nigh for UE Radio. epoch1970's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=16711 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=97925 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] Community Funded Squeezebox Replacement - Would you be interested?
I have the feeling that creating a squeezebox replacement with a sound quality even better than the Touch - as worked out by John - would attract the most people. That would be a true value proposition over other devices, at least over those that can be used as a squeezebox device. Simply doing yet another squeezebox would attract only people who need either a replacement if their existing squeezebox dies or who need just one more squeezebox - both groups are probably limited and decrease over time when other systems gain more interest. reinholdk's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=36070 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=97881 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

The EHCI principle of having a hardware schedule is working well for us on other devices so is lowest risk... (Plus I spend too long instrumenting the EHCI scheduler to reach the conclusion of what Touch hardware would do :)) I found out that the recent kernels have a config option that lets you choose whether you want to use musb or ehci with the TI processors. Since the BeagleBone uses one port in host mode and one in device mode it has to enable the musb driver. Once I get mine in I'm going to try compiling the kernel with just the ehci driver and see if that works. The config also has two TT modes so I can try those out and see if they make any difference. The problem people seem to have happening is that the musb implementation of the DMA subsystem is not working, forcing them to switch to PIO mode, which when the processor gets busy causes problems. (it seems to be fine as long as the processor is not busy) I have also seen messages of a patch designed to fix the DMA issue with the musb, so the issue may be fixed already. So it looks like we will not need to hack the driver code, just make sure we use the RIGHT one. I'll let you know if I'm having any problems with figuring out the correct config settings. John S. EHCI keeps a schedule of the next several frames worth of transactions in a shared memory block and doesn't require interrupts per packet/frame - it looks like this does.. Lets keep our fingers crossed! Could you test full speed and high speed devices. There is no mention of split transactions in the datasheet, so I wonder how TT works - perhaps if we only have support for native full speed or native high speed this does not matter. Re: [slim] SB1 - Old School - But a sticky proposition
Success! For those who go after me... I dis-assembled the unit (easy to do with a tork screwdriver) and then had a really good go at the casing with a dish scouring pad - the kind with a sponge on one side and a more abrasive plastic finish on the other. Tiny bit of soap + water and about 20 mins of elbow grease - this thing looks as good as new. I now remember the flakiness of the SB1 when playing FLAC files! I'm using a wired connection, but that buffer was small. Still plays mp3's without issue and can even sync with my other slim devices. Just like the old days.
