Re: [slim] Playlists gone wild
You have t turned on shuffle on some of the synced players ? Even if get wifi related unreliabilities it should not play games with the playlist so I suggest that you treat them as separate issues. Do you use any plugin that could manipulate the current playlist ? is this static playlist that you built ? Testing Absolute Radio UK's 60s, 70s, 90s, and 00s streams today, I found only the 60s stream to be lossy. Re: [slim] What does VortexBox give me that I didn't know I needed?
While it rips DVDs and Blu-Ray discs to .mkv it will also mirror to mp4 and/or m2ts if you want. You need to get an MKV license though for $50.00. A vortexbox can also output 3-5 independant streams or audio outs, 3 analogue and 2 more by using USB DACs. It's great if you have a centralized distributed audio system with a matrix audio switcher for routing music to your zones. vining's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=37132 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=98423 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Let me add to this - I don't see any need for this at present. Community Squeeze is designed to enable new players to be able to do similar things to the Squeezebox Touch and enable them to fully integrate with an LMS based system with a local LMS server either running on an existing server or as part of Community Squeeze. That is our target is to be able to support local server based playback. If at some point in the future there is a reason why existing Squeezebox Touch devices lose functionality then we could consider what subset of the solution is worthwhile to implement on the Touch (its already one of my development test targets, but only to prove that I can match what it does for playback..) [slim] Playlists gone wild
I've recently started using my Squeezeboxes and Transporter after several years off. Thanks to help here on these forums I was able to get everything working smoothly or so I thought. Playback was glitch free connecting three rooms wirelessly for a couple of days then I started to get tweaked. A box might drop out or freeze and need some attention etc. For the past few days my system has been almost unusable because of the playlists randomly doing crazy things. If I try to play a few albums they might appear to be listed in the correct order in the playlist at first. Then a few songs in every song might be suddenly scattered or you might get six songs of one album then the others etc. I've tried using Ipeng, remote and only using LMS all with the same results. I was initially overjoyed to have the Squeezeboxes back. I could get used to the different interface and I was thrilled to be rid of the Sonos track limit and able to play more of my music. The Sonos was rock solid and almost never irritated me even though hooked up wirelessly. I could wire them in or get some Homeplugs I guess but seeing LMS not be able to keep a playlist straight on the server itself has me thinking I would be in the same boat. Yes, that's pretty much it. Gen 0.5 is John producing a couple of hand-built boards for development. Gen 1 with be a fabrication run of a small number of boards, (perhaps 25), to get wider testing. (But still not a public, everyone who wants one can have one, release. It is the pre-cursor to a much larger Gen 2 production run and will allow the design to be finalised and any bugs worked out.) Gen 2 will be the first public production run, where we aim to make available for purchase, via at least 2 distributors... 1) The DAC carrier board 2) A ready to go, pre-built player, assembled and comprising, JS DAC carrier board, Wandboard CPU card, Hammond extruded ali chassis, front/rear panels, (glass fibre PCB material), a power supply, and a pre-imaged SDCARD. There's no need to have the flirc sticking out at the front - I have used one for ages in various devices - it works without direct line-of-sight. It's a very useful gizmo - easily programmed & really flexible. At the moment I never touch my Touch, it's controlled through my Harmony remote, in large part because that's the only way my wife actually manages to get music playing. Given the sound quality predictions of this project I would probably want to put it in place of my Touch, but that would mean, if I want to keep using my Harmony, that there's some kind of unsightly dongle sticking out of the front, just to keep the IR-receiver in line of sight. bakker_be's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=30369 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=97881 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Re: [slim] Announce: Community Squeeze
Hi everybody, as far as I understood it the wandboard could be used as an altenative or substitute streaming device for a SB device. So let´s assume my beloved Touch will go to the happy hunting ground would I then be able to play my music - which is stored on a Syno NAS - via the wandboard (which would be connected to my DAC via Spdif cable)? If the answer would be "Yes" is there a limitiation regarding the bitrates (e. g. flacs > 24/96 won´t be played)? Any other restraints I should keep in mind? Thanks in advance for your feedback.
