Re: [slim] ANN: Orange Squeeze 1.3.0 released!
What version of LMS are you using, 7.8 by any chance? I think the 4 option menu you describe is the one you get when the defeat destructive play option is enabled, this only happens if already playing something. The longer menu is the normal one you get with that option set in OrangeSqueeze when nothing is playing. Re the EDO plugin. It allows a TOUCH to (1) play 24/192 hires files (otherwise limited to 24/96 hires files) and (2) connect to certain DACs using USB out of the TOUCH. I have several touch players too but don't bother with EDO. Out of ~80,000 files I have less than 20 24/96 files and zero 24/192 files. (Note regular CDs are 16/44.1 files). I find the optical and S/PDIF digital outs of the TOUCH to be more than enough. In my opinion, the EDO is *not* a reason to go for the Touch over the Transporter unless you are really interested in the ability to feed a USB DAC or play 24/192 files. If you really like the Transporter, go for it. It's only money! I love mine. It looks great, it is well built with quality components, I really like the sound of the DAC, and it works nicely. Install the BLANKSAVER plugin so that the displays are OFF when not being used, and the thing should last forever. *Location 1:* VortexBox 4TB (2.2) > LMS 7.8 > Transporter, Touch, Boom, Radio w/Battery (all ethernet except Radio) *Location 2:* VBA 3TB (2.2) > LMS 7.7.2 > Touch > Benchmark DAC I, Boom, Radio w/Battery (all ethernet except Radio) *Office:* Win7(64) > LMS 7.8 > SqueezePlay *Spares:* VBA 4TB, SB3, Touch (3), Radio (3), CONTROLLER *Controllers:* iPhone4S (iPeng), iPad2 (iPengHD & SqueezePad), CONTROLLER, or SqueezePlay 7.8 on Win7(64) laptop Ripping (FLAC) - dbpoweramp, Tagging - mp3tag, Spotify garym's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=17325 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=100636 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Thanks everybody for the replies. I like both, but I'm really sold on the cool factor of the Transporter. That's where I'm leaning. The Touch is cheaper (a plus), but not by much compared to it's price before Logitech stopped producing them. Can someone explain a little more about the EDO plugin on the Touch? What does that do? I'm not exactly PC savvy, so overlook my ignorance please. The biggest thing I worry about with another SB and the ones I have is if/when one of them dies. If I knew of someone or someplace that could repair them, like with the VDF display as mentioned, then I would feel a lot better about buying another one. I really like the looks of that Transporter. RioTubes wrote: > Thanks! Presently, I don't have a SB setup. Is there a MOG (or Spotify) > search field on the iPeng/SqueezePad app? Can one save MOG tracks or > albums to a iPeng que or playlist? Sorry for the rudimentary questions. Yes, that works (with both Apps). The one thing that does NOT work is saving stuff as Spotify playlists but you can have mixed playlists with music from all kinds of music and save them in Logitech Media Server for later use. You can queue up albums and songs just as you like. If you asked this question on facebook, too, then the additional answer would be that yes, also streaming on from the iPad through AirPlay will work. The only limitations are that a) The playback functionality is an additional In-App-Purchase (in both iPeng and SqueezePad) b) For Spotify you will need the "3rd Party Spotify plugin" for LMS. It can be installed through "Settings->Plugins" in the LMS web interface and has a long support thread here under "3rd party software". Also, don't expect magic if it comes to synchronization with Squeezeboxes if you use AirPlay. It's gotten better in iPeng since we included automatic latency compensation but as of my experience it's still not good enough to run two different devices in the same room. It might be OK in different rooms, though. --- learn more about iPeng, the iPhone and iPad remote for the Squeezebox and Logitech UE Smart Radio as well as iPeng Party, the free Party-App, at penguinlovesmusic.com *New: iPeng 7, the Universal App for iOS 7* pippin's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=13777 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=100641 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Re: [slim] ANN: Orange Squeeze 1.3.0 released!
I have the default action when selecting a track set to "Prompt". What would be the expected response when i tap on a track? I have some albums where tapping gives four choices Add to end Play track Play next Play all tracks This is the response I would expect but I only see it on a small number of albums. The others respond as though I had long pressed the track or tapped the triangle and show a much longer list. The preview and release versions act differently as well. An album which gives me the above four choices on the release version gives the long list on the preview version. This seems like a bug to me. If your PS4 is really causing such RF interference with other WiFi devices I'd suggest contacting Sony. I'm sure they would like to know about it and you may have a defective unit. Re: [slim] Transporter or Touch?
Yeah the transporter is high quality , the only thing that would worry me a bit in an old used unit is the VFD displays ( 2 of them ) . But if the price is rigth... A Toy quality thing like Touch can last a while too just wondering a bit about it's display quality . In any case , a hint I many others are using the displays on any squeezebox as little as possible to preserve lifetime . DAC quality , it basically flat-lined a decade ago imo :) I dont buy that high end press hype that you get revolutionary quality improvement every 2 months for a couple of k$ more .
