Aaah iTunes and iPhone :) Some more suggestions, feel free to ignore . I have a different pow here.. I would considering converting the files to 24/96 for daily use . Keep the originals backed up somewhere . 24/96 is already way beyond human hearing capabilities so you wont really loose anything. And in the future buy 24/96 instead of 24/192 if possible you save some . Re: [slim] Scan non standard file extensions into music library
You say "some files", are we talking tens of files in a handful directories or tens of thousands files spread all over the place? Not sure if it solves the issue, and depending on the situation it may for a number of reasons not be manageable, but perhaps building a set of symbolic links with the desired extension in a separate directory could solve this. LMS scans a directory with one extension, iTunes sees another but it's the same file. To me, it seems better to never rename the files and let iTunes work with a bunch of symlinks, but if that doesn't work, try the other way around. alfista's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=32396 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=109373 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Files are already ALAC m4a files, just with the extension changed to m4v. I just would like LMS to recognise them because iTunes handles them better with the m4v extension. pssturges's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=66790 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=109373 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Correct yes, music is on a powerful NAS box, my setup has always been like this, so I think its due to the laptop now running from USB2 ouch! mherger wrote: > > > It has 8x (i7) CPU cores and 16Gb RAM so is strong[/color] > > Did you check LMS' memory settings for the database? > Yep its set to Maximum 2Gb RAM Cheers www.spicefly.com - ** Spicefly SugarCube ** - A hassle free acoustic journey through your music library using MusicIP. Hmmm... thats what i understand: All tracks on your sampler got the same Value in TPE2. That means a Artist like "Air" and "Various Artists" sharing the same Track and therefore the same genres, years and so on. Please ask Michael Herger whats he thinks about that. If someone really doesnt need to think about it cause he already knows it- its him. Re: [slim] Empty albums in virtual library
DJanGo wrote: > if your name for the compilationsgroup is even *Various Artists* then > you should change that... Why? I know that there have been differences on how to tag tracks ever since tags have been invented. I have -always- tagged compilations albums in the way that makes the most sense to me: if you have different (various) artists contributing songs to a compilation, set the compilation tag to 1/true, and the album artist of the entire album (seems only logical) to "Various Artists". LMS knows that and has this setting where you could (if you wanted) localize the album artist name under which compilations are grouped (like "Varios" or "Interprètes divers"...). I don't think I'm gonna change that any time soon for myself. Also, I'm not sure that I noticed that behavior in previous LMS versions (maybe 7.9.1, 7.9 or even 7.8.x). DJanGo wrote: > I know about the 'genre' > (https://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?104911-Missing-empty-genres) > ;-) I'd say that's a different problem. I have no missing or blank named genres. Only (for example) artists that show in the wrong genre, just because they are part of a compilation where some *other* artist has a track that's in this genre. But after browsing my library a bit more, I can see that this is not limited to virtual libraries. It's also present in the built-in genres menu. So I'm gonna post a message in the beta forum to let the devloppers now about this. Maybe they care, maybe they figure it out, I don't know. We'll see... Anyway, thank you very much for your help. afriend's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=39306 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=109367 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
