[slim] ODD... Transporter remote working on Mysqueezebox.com but not LMS?
As above.. been working A-ok up till this evening when the remote didn't change anything on my Transporter's display. I Xlink reset it "just in case" and I was able to step through the setup menu with the remote. So the sensor was fine. Still unresponsive after Xlink reset, so used onboard buttons to change to Mysqueezebox.com, lo and belohld the remote works fine! Swapping back to LMS though its not responding to the remote. Using Logitech Media Server Version: 7.9.0 - 1440053825 @ Fri Aug 21 07:17:05 CUT 2015 Was working fine up till now. restarted LMS with no effect, Xlink reset makes no difference. Any ideas guys? It was obvious that one of them was more detailed than the other. Then I did a blind comparison and scored precisely 50%. Re: [slim] How well do the DACs hold up nowadays?
Hooked up my Transporter to my external Dac for the first time last night. Had a hifi buddy over to have a listen, an interesting night. Short version, The Transporter was improved by hooking it up to my M2Tech Young Dac...substantially improved. We listen to the TP over its analogue outs using its internal Dac and we both really liked it, but thought it was MAYBE a little flat dynamically, but very very listenable. Hooked it up to the Young and the sound filled out, better timbre scale dynamics...just.better. Couple of proviso's though: * The Dac has its own linear power supply and has been heavily modded, so essentially its a 2K Dac. * Only digital cable I had to hand was a Spdif coax, which I understand might not be as good as a BNC hookup, so may sound even better, who knows. So my findings and conclusion on the Transporter Dac is that it's very, very good and betters a high end universal disc player, but it CAN be improved. Though you'd have to hook it up to a pretty special sounding Dac to.do Gazjam's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=18604 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=102852 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Sorry my friend, we'll have to agree to disagree on this one. :) Your comments DID get me thinking again about the objectivist/subjectivist argument and asked a mate to come over last night to hear my new Transporter. We use each other to sanity check our systems sometimes and have been listening to each others systems for years. We have no problem saying that the emperors new clothes does in fact sound rubbish to each other, and have done in the past. A lot! We did the same test I did previously, as well as comparing two dacs to the Transporters internal dac and we both came to the same conclusions. I would posit that sometimes the difference between kit can be obvious enough to over-ride the psychological factors which you mention whilst i absolutely agree they can be a factor. And it's no good saying I had no preconceived opinions - everyone has them, even when they don't know they do. Know what your saying Clive, but been in the game long enough to know about abx testing, level matching, expectation bias all that good stuff. Its valid enough, and it was level matched, .but I know my ears and it wasn't a lab experiment ;) I trust my first impressions, then I sanity check it by going back to how it was before. World's for me, improvement was obvious and repeatable. If anything the Transporter being older might have thought the Oppo would have been better. [slim] Hmnnn..any reason why my box might have been resealed at the factory??
Got a Touch recently at a discounted price due via a friend due to inconvenience... Part of a set of 2 units sent out, my box had been resealed...the circular tape which seals the box was double layered (there was onebtut of tape on top of the other) and the packaging inside was SLIGHTLY more handled than you would expect from a brand new straight from the factory purchase. The unit itself was covered in the cellophane protective sheet and looked untouched, and all the accessories were there in sealed bags, looking as you would expect. BUT.. The box, despite the very good job at putting it back together as new, had TWO layers of tape on the flap..and I was very careful peelin the top layer off which revealed a CUT layer underneath. So my question is I guess, WHY would this have been sent out as new..? Is it a case of a particular batch being sent out to meet the discounted orders..? Personally I bought a brand new Touch, I don't want a used one. What's Logitech's position on this as I'm not 100% happy, and I want to be. Start Spotify and play something. You will notice a new tray icon. 6. Go to your web browser and open SqueezeCenter (you will need a computer running SqueezeCenter to use DSBridge, I think). Go to Favourites and choose Edit. Choose New Favourite and type a name for the favourite (i.e. Spotify). If you are running Spotify on the same PC as SqueezeCenter: Type http://localhost:8124/; as the url for your new favourite. - If you are running SqueezeCenter and Spotify on separate machines on a local network, you will have to find the IP address (on your local network, something like 192.168.) of the machine running Spotify and type that instead of localhost. 7. Play the new Spotify favourite, via the web interface or iPeng, and whatever is playing on Spotify will play on your SB3. Good luck! Thankyou SO much, that did the trick! Only thing I had to do was change localhost to my SpotifyPC's Ip Address and I was hearing music - great! Acoustic Energy Aego Ms are fantastic little speakers that can fill a room convincingly. A Sub/sat system, the sat's weigh a ton (made from metal) and are very solid. Good quality cabling provided too. I use a set in my Study hooked up to a Mk6/3 Beresford Dac playing Flacs and it makes for a good quality budget Hifi setup. I was using Avira Antivirus, but I read a couple of posts online about AV Software interfering with slimserver so I uninstalled it, thinking this would make a difference. Didn't make a difference unfortunately, it still has the same problem. Could it be a Firewall setting? I've (as far as I know) given Squeezecentre maximum permissions in my Firewall. Could it be a Router configuration setting? (I dont know much about networkingbut I can get online!)* Does DHCP Vs Static IP kind of thing come into this problem? I see from other posts this problem seems to have came up in Ver. 7.2..would an earlier version of Squeezecentre not have this problem? I am actually using the latest build 7.2.1..
