And it just works. Every time I think of something new I want it to do I have always been able to find a plugin that could do the trick for me. Thats because mysb runs at 7.5.4 and that version needs another firmware in the players. Hmmm if going back to 7.5.2 didn't help and before you upgraded to 7.5.3 you didn't have any problems, then this must be something from outside. My trouble with 7.5.3 is when I sync two players. It works fine for some time and then suddenly the slave stops playing and won't do anything before it has either been resynced or starts on something else. The logfil show that the slave player suddenly thinks that its time is 10 millions years behind the other player and then it just quit. Re: [slim] Let's make the Squeezebox to the ultimate music discovery device!
1) I usually browse trough my music with one of our controller. I never use my classic or boom for it. It is to hard to get a view over what we got. I browse using the artist and "new music". Seldom trough genre and the other stuff. 2) We usually hear about new music on the radio or by friends recommendations. We don't use any of these new services since none of them works here in Denmark. 3) Our main problem with finding music is getting an overview over what we actually got stored. It not that we have a big library (about 7000 tracks) but when I want to find something I know we got I just browse. If I should want something it must be something like the album overview that Moose and other frontends for SBS provides, but I guess that it is hard to implement on a controller or Touch for that matter. I guess an IPAD must be more ideal for that kind of browsing. 4) Yeah it would be nice to be able to browse, buy and download new music in one single action instead of doing it in several steps as I am doing it now. 5) I use MP3TAG for handling tagging. Just to make sure that R.E.M for instance is always spelled R.E.M otherwise our library would be a mess. I don't use ratings or anything like that. If we hear a good number we simply add it to a playlist with the use of Phillip Meyers Playlist manager plugin 6) No. I use MediaMonkey but that is just for handling ipods and mobile phones. -- Kuben72 /Kuben72 2 Duet, 1 Receiver, 1 SB3 and 1 Boom ---- Kuben72's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=15308 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=80910 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

You right. Of course there is no user guide for the Touch since it is not released yet. Stupid me. I already know the documentation you are referring to and they are just not up to what a system like this requires. Take a look at the so called user guide for the Duet: The documentation is 70% setup-guide and then 20% how-to do the most simple things. The last 10% is for troubleshooting. But no where is it explained how to add an applet or add a plugin to SBS. No where is it explained how to synchronize two or more players. Oh and SBS is documented no where. So I ask again: How should a new user with no nearby help figure this out? P.S: The user guides for the Duet is out-of-date. [slim] Is there a user guide somewhere
My borther-in-law just bought an used SB3 and a new Duet together with a ReadyNAS Duo. He sat it up all by himself and got it to work with no problems at all. And it plays like a charm. He is really satisfied with it. So no problems there. But today he called me and wanted the SB3 and the controller to show the weather forecast when they are turned off/in standby. No problems there I guided him trough it on the phone and after 10 minutes he had WeatherDateTime plugin installed on SBS and the Weather Applet added to his SBC. So no problems there either. But my point is: If it where not for me he wouldn't had any chance of getting this installed and working. I can understand why there is no user-guide for the SB3. It is an old player and discontinued. But I cannot for the world understand why there isn't any documentation for the SBC/Receiver/Radio and Touch. I know there is a setup guide for the Duet. But why isn't there a user guide? I mean how should any new customer take full advantage of all the cool add-ons for the those new players if there isn't anywhere they can read about it. I am using an SB3 as alarm clock in our bedroom. I have a pair of old pc loudspeakers that is connected to the analogue output. This a has worked without any problems until this morning. [slim] Does every SqueezeBox have their own display of music library?
I have added the genre Christmas to every christmas album I have. After I did that I did a total rescan of my music library. When I take at look at the SCs Music Library->Genre->Christmas I get the following two entries: Diverse Kunstner (Various) Mariah Carey Under Various there are 4 albums listed. All with the genre Christmas and with Compilation=1. this is all as I would expect it to be. If I use SoftSqueeze I see the same under the genre Christmas as SC shows. But when I do the same on the SBC the entries is different. There I get: Diverse kunstner (Various in Danish) Lars Lilholt band Mariah Carey Søs Fenger TV2 Various Lars Lilholt Band, Søs Fenger and TV2 is all from the same album: It's snowtime. Diverse Kunstner contains 4 albums: Ally McBeal A very Ally Christmas, It's snowtime, Most wanted Julehits CD1 and Most wanted Julehits CD2. Various contains 3 albums: Ally McBeal A very Ally Christmas, Most wanted Julehits CD1 and Most wanted Julehits CD2. Can anyone tell me why there is a difference between SBCs and SCs displaying of genres? -- Kuben72 /Kuben72 ---- Kuben72's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=15308 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=48023 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss

Re: [slim] Upgrade Slimnas
Hey don't be so hard on yourself. You can't test every form of installation (tak it from someone who has developed systems for 20 years). I am just glad that you want to take the effort to make SC run on FreeNAS. Without that I would be forced to invest my money in a new computer instead of the old one that runs things now. Which by the way is doing it perfectly. But I think I will setup a WM image with FreeNAS/SlimNAS on it for test purposes so it won't affect my running installation. Somehow it screwed up the SBC as well because it got downgraded to a version that won't connect to the SBR. -- Kuben72 /Kuben72 ---- Kuben72's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=15308 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=43774 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
