Re: [slim] My SB3 seems to be stuck on a song and will not play
Thanks for the suggestions. I got it working by changing the offending song with the remote as soon as the device booted up. It was a song that was in my list but I think it must have been from a streaming service I no longer use. [slim] My SB3 seems to be stuck on a song and will not play
Last night during a listening session I chose a new song from my FLAC library on my iMac and everything just went to hell. LMS doesnt recognize my player and keeps wanting to play on iPeng. I tried closing iPeng, rebooting my computer, clearing and rescanning all of my files. When I brought everything back up and set up networking, Now Playing came up, and when I hit play, the song that seemed to shut everything down was first on the playlist, but when I tried to play it, the SB3 immediately asked me to set up a Squeezebox account and wouldnt go through the process of connecting to the network. If I unplug the device, I can go through the setup process and get to the Now Playing screen and even scroll through the 15 songs of the album I loaded last night (why is it even still there after a reboot and clear/rescan?), but if I try to play one of the songs it immediately goes back into Squeezebox account setup and will do nothing else unless I unplug the SB3 and start the whole thing over again. I feel like the SB3 might need some kind of hard reset but I dont see any way to do it. Im not sure if iPeng is involved in this, but Ive never had a problem like this before. I am using version 8.1.1, and I am trying to figure out how to get Tidal set up. [slim] Building a house: what would you do for whole-house audio?
We are considering building a vacation home. At our prior beach house, I had a Squeezebox 3 hooked up to an old Windows laptop with FLAC files on an external hard drive. We played through a compact stereo system in the main room, which was basically the whole downstairs. I had a separate SB1 that I sometimes ran with powered speakers on the porch. With a new build, I am wondering about a wired whole-house system like we have at home, or maybe even something wireless through wifi. Four zones will probably suffice. I havent really kept up with whats available and what works well these days, as what has been in place in our house for at least 15 years still works well, except for needing the occasional reset. So, Im looking for suggestions. If you were starting fresh, what would you do? Id like to be able to use my digital files but also stream, as I have SiriusXM and Amazon music. What do you recommend? As I've said > previously, it's about the same price as a burger meal or two, I'm > definitely going to enjoy the Squeezebox music a lot longer than I > usually remember a burger meal. You're right, and you're wrong. Sure, $10 is a nominal price for something that you use every day to enhance your experience with equipment for which you paid hundreds or even thousands of dollars. I happily paid it for iPeng and consider it money well spent. Unfortunately for the third-party developers, $10 is a pretty significant price point in the app world, and I fear there are many who will balk at it when there is a free, albeit vastly inferior, alternative. In taking the Squeezebox from a niche to a mass-market item, Logitech is destroying the spirit on which this product was built and which produced the majority of the early plugins that made the SB what it is today. Remember, however, that those plugins were generally offered to our little community free of charge or at most a voluntary donation. I don't dissuade Pippin and others from trying to get as much as they can for their hard work, but in the app world, $10 is a hefty price, and I fear that with a free alternative now available the third-party developers will be forced to reduce their price or become victims of the SB evolution to a mass product. -- Kyle Regards, Jim Kyle's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2541 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=87212 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

I have two SB3's that I often sync. One stays hooked to my stereo, while the other feeds into a pair of AE5's that I move around. The second one often takes several minutes to come on after I plug it in. Both of these SB's are at a vacation home, so they often are unplugged for weeks at a time. This doesn't seem to bother the one that stays hooked to the stereo, however. Re: [slim] SB3 and Wake on Lan after real power off
I'm not sure if this applies to your situation or not, but I use a whole-house audio system that cuts the power to all of my equipment, including my SB3, whenever the system shuts down. I am still using software version 6.3 because it has a feature that remembers that a song was playing when the power was cut, and resumes play at the beginning of that song when the system powers up again. This feature disappeared in subsequent versions of the software, forcing me to manually restart my music with the remote or at the computer when I turn my system on. Thus, I am stuck in 6.3 and unable to use many of the features that have been added, including an iPhone remote app. Two years ago, I filed a bug about this issue here: http://bugs.slimdevices.com/show_bug.cgi?id=4759. It still hasn't been fixed, but I am ever hopeful, and Dean Blacketter recently offered some support that this might be addressed in SC 7.4. I suspect that with more and more people "going green" that total system powerdowns might become more common, making this feature useful to more users. If this feature would help you, please take time to vote for it. -- Kyle Kyle's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2541 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=61835 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
