Trackstat integration would be great! Right now they're only accessible

I was using Squeezecommander for this feature for a long time, too. I'm
missing configurable list items and/or a configurable now playing
screen. Thes feature was also neat on any Squeezebox with display.

Re: [slim] ANN: Orange Squeeze 1.3.0 released!

2014-05-11 Thread Meridion

Just wanted to give some positive for the latest OS preview: I love the
UI updates! New 'Now Playing' display and the three-dot context menus
are very useful.

I started to like the UI of Google Play Music very much, because it is
very simple and intuitive.

But the Orange Squeeze UI ist getting closer again. :-)

Thanks!

My ratings. This is the most simple way of telling LMS which tracks I
like. Track ratings allow using dynamic playlists to play my favourite
music.
When rating are displayed, I know which tracks I already rated (or not)
and I can remember better which tracks I like without having to
prelisten them when selecting to play them manually. Maybe my brains are
not as perfect as yours, but I don't always remember the titles of my
thousands of tracks I like(d)...

For those with perfect brains and those not using ratings I suggested to
have track ratings displayed optionally.

Re: [slim] ANN: Orange Squeeze 1.3.0 released!

2013-05-04 Thread Meridion

Frequently I'm using Squeeze Commander because it displays track ratings
in the 'now playing' screen. The stars are touchable to change the
rating.
I found out that in Orange Squeeze, ratings can be changed in the pop-up
list of the cover art. But this is too complicated and too well hidden
for my listening behaviour...

I would appreciate having the song rating displayed either in the
playlist(s) and/or the 'no playing' screen...

I would like to have a rating functionality in the control device (as
Trackstat allows in LMS while playing a song). Everything else you

UPNP/DLNA server (dynamic folders as in Twonky or Asset) and some
control software available for Android or IOS platforms.

Right now, I am looking into LINN hardware for highend-rendering (to
replace my Transporter and preamp) and into a simple DLNA capable radio
to replace my Boom.

What I did not yet find in the LINN ecosystem is the rating
functionality while playing a song for any of the control applications
(besides the server based music library management applications).

Re: [slim] What is missing from your Squeezebox experience ?

2012-05-12 Thread Meridion

When thinking about missing features, new hardware devices came to my
mind first.

But besides the missing devices, a decent integrated library management
is missing, too. Music playing functionality should not be separated
from music management functionality. Playing music with LMS, ripping and
managing the library with additional aplications (dbpoweramp, itunes,
mediamonky, ...) is fun for the experienced user, but it's a pain for
the normal user.

I expect LMS to have an integrated library management functionaly to
rip/add/buy music, manage metadata (using external metadata sources) and
seamlessly include music from cloud/streaming services as if they were
stored locally.

ripped from my rather large CD collection, in it and I appreciate
listening to non-rated music (to discover forgotten tracks and music),
play my favourite music with 2+ stars or best-ever tracks with 4+

Actually trackstat is one of the main reasons I'm sticking to
Logitech's Squeeze universe.

Many thanks, Erland!

A resolution to this would be Logitech take a couple of hours to
integrate a copy of trackstat in the original product.

The trackstat functionality should definitely be part of LMS!
I think this would differentiate it from the competition.

The competition (iTunes, Monkey, etc.) all have an 'intelligent'
playlist feature, which SBS or LMS don't have. So this functionality
schould be supplied by Logitech, too...

$40 for these two feature is pricey but I decided to support erland
with some cash for his valuable work.

2011-07-24 Thread Meridion

A poll associated with this post was created, to vote and see the
results, please visit http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=88939

Question: What would make it easier to recommend a Squeezebox ?

- Simplified installation and initial configuration
- Simplified usage after initial installation/configuration
- Integrated support for ripping music from CD and tagging it
- Support for more online streaming services
- Improved stability of mysqeueezebox.com
- Improved stability and/or less bugs in Squeezebox Server/Firmware
- New Squeezebox hardware which have reliable support for local music
  without a computer
- New Squeezebox hardware with built-in speakers and stereo support
- New Squeezebox hardware with support for video
- New entry level Squeezebox hardware with a lower price

I would also vote for 1W standby power consumption.

Is FAAD running even when there are no AAC conversions? My music

I had the same issue (Ubuntu 10.10), which appeared with the 7.5.3
upgrade.

Maybe my wheater-plugin, which tried to poll wunderground.com without
success, caused the problem.

It could be a coincidence that the wunderground.com problems appeared
at the same time as the 7.5.3 upgrade.

Are your songs stored in ALAC format?

I was having the same problem with my ALAC based music library (on a
