Re: [slim] [ANNOUNCE] Music-Playback now on ANDROID! SqueezePlayer released to the market ...
Has anyone got this working? I use squeezedroid and also squeezecontroller - both work happily via connect bot or locally. I bought squeezeplayer and it works well locally but will not connect at all via connectbot. This is on galaxy s2. The squeezeplayer settings are 127.0.0.1 and port 9000 - as for squeezedroid - but no joy. It won't connect automatically either - I presume the method of sensing a server used by squeezeplayer doesn't work for localhost. Am I being an idiot and missing something obvious? Re: [slim] SB1 intermittant gaps
Thanks. I had reset the sb1 more than once and tried everything I coudl think of to minimise the chance of the server not delivering in time. Some things seemed to help a bit, nut not completely. I even tried jumbo frames - but have a draytek router that I think didn't like them. Just to cap the whole problem neatly - the server PSU died last night so I may have had other intermittent hardware problems. Hopefully I am about to enter an 'oasis of calm' now with squeezecentre and whs! I have also discovered that the SB1 would be happy mostly with mp3s on the server but the flacs (transcoded) caused most problems. I have sorted it by making the celebrated sideways step of buying a SB classic with an amazon voucher present! Also waiting for a new PSU for the server. I'll put the SB1 on ebay I think as most of my music is flacs and it was a pain not being able to rely on the music from the sb1. Re: [slim] DSBridge - A simpler way to stream Spotify
Hi - this is brilliant - thanks! I have tried it with multiple clients - eg winamp on a pc and transporter. One works - the other locks up. This isn't my main intended use - but syncing is. If I try syncing all players - it mostly works - but you get gaps - occasionally 5-10 seconds long. Is that a known issue? - anything I can tweak to inprove it? (I am using 320k - the network is all wired and all players (except SB1) perform network test flawlessly at the highest bit rate.) (whs - transporter, duet x2, temporarily disconnected SB1) -- coppo23 coppo23's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=17339 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=64590 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

[slim] SB1 intermittant gaps
I have a SB1 with the updated display. It is wired LAN, fixed IP address. I have tried different router ports and cables. Doesn't matter what bit rate I limit it to it intermittantly pauses and recovers - gaps of anywhere from 1 to 20 seconds or more. It does this on native mp3s, transcoded flacs, internet radio. What is more, if it is connected, it seems to make SC GUI sluggish - though not all the time. If I disconnect it - SC becomes snappy again- though I think it needs a restart to recover properly. I have tried enabling various logging features but haven't caught anything interesting yet. Have tried a new PSU - just in case. SC 7.3.3 - 26407, SB1 firmware v40. The rest of the system, transporter and duets, is fine. It won't run the network test - it just blobs. Not sure if this is a pointer to what is wrong?? Has anyone any ideas as to what to try next? (I was about to buy a BOOM and Amazon have just put the prices up this morning - G!) -- coppo23 coppo23's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=17339 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=65319 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
[slim] squeezeplay useful features - eg volume control
running 7.3.2 - 24695 @ Mon Jan 19 18:55:04 PST 2009 I use squeezeplay on my XP work PC to stream music from home. It does seem much more reliable than softsqueeze - though I do like softsqueeze more. There are several things it seems to be missing - unless I've missed something. a) Ability to enter server name rather than just IP address (I use dyndns to track my home IP) b) Volume control option. The only way I've found of setting the volume is via SC web interface or the overall wave device volume on control panel. c) Choice of sound output device. It only seems to use the default - which means sharing the headphones with windows sounds. Does anyone know if these are on the roadmap or if there are any workarounds? [slim] Transporter FW71 digital inputs and favourites
I wasn't sure whether to add this to the digital inputs bug 4834 or if it is not related. It may well be finger trouble on my part. I have a CD using RCA coax input and favourite set to select it by pressing and holding 0. Once working - it is fine - I can go back and forth between library and CD (digial input). After a power cycle or SC restart it won't work. The favourite selects the digital input - but no sound. If you go into the digital inputs menu, the wrong input has been selected (not RCA coax). Manually change to this input and it is fine. It seems like the favourite does not completely select digital inputs, RCA coax - just digital inputs. The favourite is file:///D:/shares/Music/playlists/cd%20player%20direct%20to%20lounge.m3u The playlist it refers contains the url source:rca-spdif Have I done anything wrong here? Re: [slim] Announcement Squeezecenter 7.2.1
After having upgraded to 7.2.1 and FW63 in my transporter I now have the digital input bug (bug 4834 I think). This was fine in 7.2 with whatever version of TP FW was with it. I now find I cannot use the RCA digital input - without fiddling switching to other inputs first. Is the pain of going back to 7.2 and previous FW on transporter likely to fix the issue as a temporary fix? Has anyone else seen this? (Apologies if this post appears elsewhere - I had a computer crash just at the wrong moment and can't see my first attempt at the post - though I had pressed the submit button just as it crashed!) -- coppo23 coppo23's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=17339 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=54045 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
[slim] Transporter digital input problem FW63 SC7.2.1
I have just updated SC to 7.2.1 from 7.2 and the TP to the latest (63 I believe) having decided to avoid tip betas and just go with the main updates a long time ago. I have a digital input with a real CD player on it as a favorite (press hold 0 to get CD) I now cannot get any sound from the CD player input - was working fine before. I thought this was a bug fixed LONG long ago. If I manually select digital inputs and scroll through I can get the sound working in the end - but it seems to be flaky to get it going. Has anyone else noticed this? Is there a work around? It is particularly awkward as the main reason for the CD player on a digital input is to allow the wife to play her 'real' CDs easily. I am now in deep 'doo dah' again as it doesn't work any more. -- coppo23 coppo23's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=17339 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=54447 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
[slim] SB1 extremely poor sound quality?
I just bought a squeezebox SB1 on ebay (thought it was SB2 - nevermind) It is intended for workshop use so sound quality needed to be car radio ish or better. On wired ethernet it is appalling -sounds like a VERY low rate mp3 down a long thin tube. Headphone and RCA outputs both. (Can't try it wireless as it doesn't support wpa.) There is no bit rate limiting set and I am streaming flac as native. I am running 7.3 sc and duets and transporter elsewhere - they are fine. Is this expected from a SB1 or is it likely to be faulty? The other thing I have noticed is that it seems to 'upset' the duets when it is plugged in and connected - they also exhibit poor sound quality - which corrects itself when the SB1 isn't present. Any ideas? It will have to be transcoded to mp3 (or wav?). What does it say it's playing? Michael Thanks. I briefly went through all the sb1 menus last night but didn't come accross anything like 'status'. How do I tell what format it is accepting? (If I didn't know better I would guess at about 32kbs mp3 it sounds so bad.) I did try bit rate limiting it to 192K -but it didn't make any difference to the sound - ran out of time to play further last night. I can't generally change flac to be transcoded - must do it only for the SB1 if it is to be of any use. Re: [slim] SB1 extremely poor sound quality?
radish;330946 Wrote: To answer your original question, the SB1 sound quality should be fine, certainly comparable with any of the other players and better than any car radio. Can you try the digital outs? It may be a physical fault somewhere (what you describe sounds like the effect I've had with shorted interconnects). Thanks for all the help. Knowing it was worth persisting with I've finally got it all working (I think). It appeared there was some funny between SC 7.3 and the squeezebox. I clicked on the sc option to revert the squeezebox to its default settings and when it restarted the sound was OK - though it had lost its display and continuously complained of lost contact with SC - even though it would play OK. I had to restart SC and then everything is fine. I can recreate the poor sound by turning off bit limiting, setting bit limiting to anything above 192K and encoder quality at 1 or 2 seems fast and good enough sound quality. I tried bit limiting yesterday - but I think SC wasn't making the change correctly. The only thing that doesn't seem to work reliably (or at all) is synchronisation - but for its main purpose in my workshop - this doesn't matter. (I had thought to make it the 'floating' squeezebox for parties and such - but will move a duet if this should ever be needed. -- coppo23 coppo23's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=17339 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=51276 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
[slim] Duet controller and draytek wireless vlan
Just treated myself to a draytek 2910VG router because it has VLAN support and I can keep the neighbours and kids at arms length from the important stuff! The wireless VLAN works by using a web based login - this is fine for laptops, my nokia 770, pda etc etc but the duet controller falls at the login hurdle. It says connected, but doesn't see the music server. If it was a laptop - I guess it would be sitting on the web login page saying something like 'The draytek router has blocked your access - please login'. Does anyone know if it is possible to make the controller automatically login at this stage. Is this a trivial code change/some sort of script/not possible etc? (I am a engineer with considerable software experience - but have not yet touched any code in the slimserver and do not have linux experience. Thanks for any help.
