Re: [slim] [ANNOUNCE] SqueezeCommander 0.9 for Android
Just replaced my Samsung S5 with a Nokia 8 & the only issue I had was actually getting the APK onto the new device. Google drive & email attachment refused to play, as both recognised what it was & blocked it. Even renaming didn't help. In the end I had to physically copy to a micro SD card & then it installed OK. Just for the record, I had bought the app previously so have no qualms over using an APK to re-install now it's no no longer on the Play store. ---- rbz5416's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=12089 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=69352 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] [ANNOUNCE] SqueezeCommander 0.9 for Android
This may be worth checking: I have a Logitech Harmony Hub that couldn't be seen by it's own app when I changed phones to one running Android 6.01/Marshmallow. The phone was connected to 5GHz & the Hub to 2.4GHz. Switched the phone to 2.4GHz & it saw the Hub straight away & paired with it. Switched the phone back to 5GHz & all was still good. Obviously all wireless SBs will be on 2.4GHz as that's all they support, so it may be worth making sure your control device is also on 2.4GHz when setting up an app. BT in the UK have an odd notion of sharing the same SSID between 2.4GHz & 5GHz by default on their routers. So if you have one of those it would be worth splitting the channels to separate SSIDs. Otherwise you don't know which band you're connecting a 5GHz capable device to. ---- rbz5416's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=12089 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=69352 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

You won't get a reply from Christian. Check the play mode setting. When you open an album there will be three icons in the top bar, right hand side. The middle of these is the play mode. The default should be a play right pointing triangle which will give you the behaviour you want. You probably have a + there which causes individual tracks to be added to the playlist. Just tap the icon for the available options. rbz5416's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=12089 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=69352 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Re: [slim] [ANNOUNCE] SqueezeCommander 0.9 for Android
I had meant to search out the date of the last update but never got round to it. Didn't realise it was that long ago. To the best of my recollection, I had WOL working with a Samsung Galaxy WiFi S SBS 7.6 this time last year. The Samsung was running Gingerbread (I think 2.3.5). I then replaced it with a Galaxy Note phone at around the same time, switched the server to 24/7 operation. It was when I updated the server to 7.8 switched back to sleep in August that I discovered that WOL no longer worked. I assumed that this was due to the Note running Jellybean but couldn't find any reference to anyone else having problems. Next test was to install SC on a phone running Gingerbread 2.3.5 but WOL still didn't work. Final test was to install MS Network Monitor to see what was actually going on. I could see the magic packet being generated by the Touch when it was brought out of standby but there was no sign of it being generated from SC. But I don't get an error message, SC simply fails to connect to the server. I have seen Java errors before but I think it's been when the server box is up but SBS/LMS is not running. rbz5416's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=12089 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=69352 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] [ANNOUNCE] SqueezeCommander 0.9 for Android
My suspicion is that WOL was broken on the last SC update. Like you I had it working previously but unsure exactly when it stopped working as I'd switched my server to 24/7 operation for a while. When I switched back to sending it to sleep a few months ago, I discovered that WOL no longer worked. I have used a network traffic analyser to check for the presence of a magic packet from SC when it starts there is none. I now use this utility to wake the server: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.mafro.android.wakeonlanhl=en rbz5416's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=12089 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=69352 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

If that's all you want it for then you probably can't go too far wrong, other than a probable lack of support. Just make sure it's got a capacitive screen rather than resistive. If you want to do more with it then I'd say it's worth spending a bit more on something you've heard of. A used iPod Touch with iPeng works well you should be able to pick up a 2nd gen in decent condition for that money. If you jailbreak it to make it multi-tasking you can use e-mail etc. at the same time. Otherwise iPeng (or other control software) will shut down when you fire up something else. Look at the remote's LED through a digital camera. You should see the LED glow on the camera's screen when you press a button. If it doesn't glow, try wiggling the batteries the LED see if it does. This appears (apparently) randomly throughout the list with (at a rough estimate) only some 10% of albums having the correct art. I then switched back to the player view the album art that had displayed correctly previously was now blurred to the point of being unrecognisable. [slim] SB3 Display Oddity
I run SBS (now 7.5.3) on an HP MediaSmart EX480 WHS box. The WHS box is set to sleep after 30 minutes of inactivity. The SB3 is connected by WiFi. I've recently changed my router to a Billion 7800n now have some strange behaviour. When the server sleeps, the SB3 displays the lost connection for around 30s before going blank. But since the router change, instead of remaining blank it wakes up approx every 5 minutes tries to connect. This is very distracting as the SB3 is under the TV. This didn't happen with three previous Netgear routers. I've asked Billion if the router is somehow polling but have not yet received an answer. Any suggestions? -- rbz5416 rbz5416's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=12089 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=85092 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] SB3 Display Oddity
In older versions of SBS (can't remember how old) the display would stick on the failed connection permanently. I assumed that a firmware change had improved the behaviour to what I was seeing - the display going blank. If I turn off the router completely then the display stays blank. So there seems to be a difference between no connection to a server no connection at all. That's what lead me to believe it was the router initiating the activity. I guess I'm going to have to put one of the old Netgears back in place just to prove it. I've played with SPC previously but never managed to get it to reliably switch between servers. The server is also used for other duties which as you say, complicates it further. I could automate a switch to MSB with my Harmony remote but when switching back to SBS, no WOL is sent to the server. -- rbz5416 rbz5416's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=12089 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=85092 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

It even gives Squeezebox v3 as an example. -- rbz5416 rbz5416's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=12089 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=67769 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

[slim] Breaking News - TomTom To Sue Logitech
. A legal representative of satellite navigation manufacturer TomTom, today confirmed the company's intention to issue legal proceeding against Logitech for breach of patent in relation to it's Squeezebox range of products. -TomTom has developed a long line of products over the last few years where the software has been an in-house joke at the customers expense. We have further developed the joke by enhancing the software with regular updates providing features no-one wants at the expense of breaking features that used to work. We then came up with the cunning ploy of completely ignoring these bugs in favour of writing completely new versions of software to support new hardware products. New customers are so much nicer than existing ones, especially in da yoof market. It has come to our attention that Logitech appear to be shamelessly copying this business model with their Squeezebox range of products. We have put enormous resources into treating our customers like something smelly on the bottom of our shoes simply won't allow this concept to be stolen from under our noses without a fight...- -- rbz5416 rbz5416's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=12089 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=74057 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] Mew Version of Transporter ?
I'd love a Transporter but two things stop me. First is the UK price. I've heard numerous excuses as to why the UK must pay a premium price for Logitech ( many other)products but the Transporter takes this the the level of a pure simple rip-off. I've just checked pricing the US price is $2,000. At todays's currency rates that should give a UK price of around £1,240. What is the actual UK price? - £1,800! A nearly 50% premium! Fairly priced? - not over here it's not. :( And then there's the software. There's no way I'm going to be shelling out that sort of money for a product that forces me to use Logitech's proprietary software when audio functionality is obviously such a low priority. -- rbz5416 rbz5416's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=12089 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=73409 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] Mew Version of Transporter ?
Sadly I suspect that the Squeezebox will go the way of the mobile phone. Those that want a high quality device to do the basic job of serving high quality audio will be abandoned in favour of da yoof. So expect a device with a (poor) camera the ability to enter text into Twatter rather than anything else at the top end. -- rbz5416 rbz5416's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=12089 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=73409 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] How to *delete* a favorite?
I have to say that in general, the server software is pretty poor. I can kind of understand that from the Slim days but there's far too much that just poorly implemented. Unfortunately, there seems to be a significant hardcore of long-term users who have grown up with this way of working appear to believe that because they've learned the software's foibles the hard way, so should everyone else. Equally unfortunately, Logitech seem happy to keep dabbling with the existing software, trying to make it do new things while repeatedly breaking things it already did. It appears to me that these users are so effective in shouting down indeed verbally abusing anyone who dares to question the software's usability, that Logitech believe they're doing it right. We often see the argument that we should accept flaky software because it's FOC. That might hold some water if it weren't for the fact that use of the software is compulsory. I firmly believe a complete re-write is required, embracing the best of the plugins while implementing a look feel that is more in keeping with a consumer product. Logitech seem to stubbornly refuse to recognise that the vast majority of people who buy Squeezebox are wanting a music player not a new hobby in network/software troubleshooting. :( -- rbz5416 rbz5416's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=12089 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=72575 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
