Re: [slim] Playlists gone wild
I use Apple Lossless files, I now have the main box wired. No more strange playlist issues, the system is more stable but has froze for short periods here and there. It seems to be handling transitioning from MOG to library files pretty good. Sonos would sometimes stop playing a playlist after several MOG tracks. rp9197's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=7754 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=98538 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

I'm not sure what exactly is causing your problems, but I can say that it's not some generalized unreliability of the SB software that is making your playlists go wild. I have up to eight SBs running on my system, sync'ing up to 3-4 players, and have never encountered what you describe. I do recommend that your server be wired to the router, at a very minimum. To the extent you can wire more of your SBs to the server, either via Homeplugs or standard ethernet, that also can't hurt. How big are these playlists? LMS has always had issues with handling really big playlists, but by really big I mean thousands of tracks. Do you get the same problems when you play to a single player un-sync'd? aubuti's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2074 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=98538 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] Playlists gone wild
If you have multiple players and use hi bitrate lossles files you should definitely wire the server . I would consider using wifi for an LMS server . Re: [slim] Playlists gone wild
I shut the server down and restarted my Imac, this seems to have cleared things up (fingers crossed). I toggled through the sync settings on all three players just in case a shuffle setting was engaged. The weird part was that half the time it would shuffle the songs to the current playlist. Other times it would suddenly chop up the playlist into groupings of 5 or 6 songs per album. I have been using Sonos for years now and got used to it's rock solid reliability. I thought maybe the newer software might have improved to that level but I've had more freezes in a few days than I had in years with Sonos. It sure is nice to have access to more of my music and to play 24/96 on the Transporter! I'm trying to hang in there and get it sorted out. I might be able to wire the box in the computer room, this might make a difference? Maybe homeplugs in the future, I've read some positive posts here in using them with Slim. I'm a bit out of touch with dealing with freezes etc. When a problem hits is shutting the server down and maybe restarting the computer the best or only way to try to clear things up? I'm trying to not add or change the playlist as much. I can only imagine if I listened to tracks and not always albums. rp9197's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=7754 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=98538 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] Playlists gone wild
You have t turned on shuffle on some of the synced players ? Even if get wifi related unreliabilities it should not play games with the playlist so I suggest that you treat them as separate issues. Do you use any plugin that could manipulate the current playlist ? is this static playlist that you built ? Re: [slim] Playlists gone wild
playlist at first. Then a few songs in every song might be suddenly scattered or you might get six songs of one album then the others etc. I've tried using Ipeng, remote and only using LMS all with the same results. Make sure you didn't leave a book or other on the IR remote... it happened to me too: something was constantly pressing some button. -- Michael ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
[slim] Playlists gone wild
I've recently started using my Squeezeboxes and Transporter after several years off. Thanks to help here on these forums I was able to get everything working smoothly or so I thought. Playback was glitch free connecting three rooms wirelessly for a couple of days then I started to get tweaked. A box might drop out or freeze and need some attention etc. For the past few days my system has been almost unusable because of the playlists randomly doing crazy things. If I try to play a few albums they might appear to be listed in the correct order in the playlist at first. Then a few songs in every song might be suddenly scattered or you might get six songs of one album then the others etc. I've tried using Ipeng, remote and only using LMS all with the same results. I was initially overjoyed to have the Squeezeboxes back. I could get used to the different interface and I was thrilled to be rid of the Sonos track limit and able to play more of my music. The Sonos was rock solid and almost never irritated me even though hooked up wirelessly. I could wire them in or get some Homeplugs I guess but seeing LMS not be able to keep a playlist straight on the server itself has me thinking I would be in the same boat.
