Ok, I'll sort something out over the next couple of days. I'll reply
here with a link to a new thread so the forum auto-email should tell you
when there's something to see.

Re: [slim] Announce: Album Catalog Creator v3

2020-06-28 Thread Viragored

Every now and then I get the urge to have a search through the forums to
see if anyone has come up with a neat way of producing a list of albums,
using LMS as the source. I'll describe what I've successfully been
doing, but it is clunky, is based on a Windows PC, and won't appeal to
anyone looking for a simple one-click option. Samples of my output are
available on these pages: https://wbeachdave.weebly.com/artists.html and
https://wbeachdave.weebly.com/albums.html

I found an open-source app called "DB Browser for SQLite" that lets
people like me peep into SQLite databases - https://sqlitebrowser.org/
LMS settings information page includes the path to the "Cache", where
the library.db file is. (I copy the library file to the PC so I don't
accidentally damage it)
On the PC, opening the library.db file in DB Browser displays the
contents of the library, both structure and data. And that's where it
gets a bit more interesting with more steps needed to progress from
seeing the data on screen to having the data in a usable form.

If there are any other (relative) novices who'd like further info on how
I got from displaying the library in DB Browser to having usable album
lists, just comment below. If there's any interest, I'll write up the
steps I used, and put them in a new thread.
Have fun!

You don't have the "ignore tracks shorter than 'x' seconds" enabled do
you?

Also I find MediaMonkey does not always reliably clear deleted or moved
tracks when you rescan - so you may have some ghost ones in that library
db?

I've used MediaMonkey with a plug-in Just List Albums. The only problem
is the MM list differs from a bit from LMS, more than one instance of
LMS differs from another on the same set of music.

MediaMonkey: 78,751 Tracks

Unfortunately I don't know why you're getting scripting errors while
starting the .hta file.
But from your log file it seems that the script is executed anyway after
you clicked the button. So what you can try is clearing all the settings
that ACC is storing in Windows Registry before running ACC again. Do you
feel comfortable enough in editing a key in Windows Registry? If not, I
can provide you a script that automates it. If yes follow these steps:
- start regedit.exe
- from the hierarchical nodes on the left side of the regedit window
navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\ACC
- while the ACC node is selected press F2 to rename it e.g. to ACC.old
- close regedit

Now run the patched .hta again and try creating the catalog. Hopefully
it is able to connect to the database file then and perform some actions
on it. We should see some more entries in the log file at least...

Yep - started patched file in the original folder - "includes" folder
is there with a "js" subfolder containing "balloon.js"

Yes I get the same scripting error running the unpatched hta file.

Maybe my copy of ACC 3.4 is not good?

The patched .hta file is perfectly fine and I can launch it without
problems.

Did you start the patched file from within the same folder where the
original one is located, i.e. the subfolder "Includes/js" is there?
Can you start the original file without getting scripting errors?

Btw, a path to the sqlite driver is not needed. Only the path to the
library.db as you did already.

I like that ACC can now be used with LMS 7.91. I gave up on ACC when LMS
went over to SQLite, no longer have a copy of ACC anywhere and the files
can no longer be downloaded - the website is dead.

Is there any way to get a copy of ACC 3.4 so that I can give it a try?

Hope you don't mind my poor tries to explain how to resurrect ACC for
the latest LMS versions.
When I did those changes a few years back just for myself, I tried to
contact you via the email given in the ACC but without success. As I
didn't want to redistribute your work, I took the approach to explain
how to modify it. Of course, all credit belongs to you for this nice
program (it's fun even if I used it rarely in the past).

I wouldn't return to a LMS that is that old - don't know what was the
last version using MySQL.
I think the biggest challenge could be - only if you're running LMS on a
different device - to copy the LMS library.db file to your PC. All other
steps should be manageable for non tech-savvy people.

Re: [slim] Announce: Album Catalog Creator v3

2017-09-03 Thread reinholdk

dasmueller wrote:
> Hopefully it's a simple fix

Depends on what you would call simple. :)

The main challenge is to adapt the ACC program code to switch the
database systems from MySQL (as used in old LMS versions) to SQLite (as
used in the newer), because ACC V3.4 assumes that MySQL is used.
Fortunately this is easy, because the ACC's executable is a ".hta" file
which is basically an HTML file containing script code that will be
interpreted by Internet Explorer.

Note that LMS' library.db file must be accessible from the local system
(from where you are running ACC - I'll come to that below), the Remote
Server options in the ACC dialog cannot be used!

The database change is quite simple but I added a feature that adds some
more changes: there will be a new option for pattern matching in ACC's
Optional Filters dialog page (some hints about wildcard characters are
given in the help popup). But to make it easy, there's a patch file that
allows applying my changes to your installation of ACC.

So assuming you have ACC V3.4 installed, the necessary steps are:

- download and install sqliteodbc.exe (an SQLite ODBC Driver) from
  http://www.ch-werner.de/sqliteodbc/
- download and install the "Complete package, except sources" of the
  GnuWin32 diff utils from
  http://gnuwin32.sourceforge.net/packages/diffutils.htm
- go to the ACC installation folder and create a copy of the file
  AlbumCatalogCreator-V3.4.hta as a backup
- save the attached file 23574 to the ACC
  installation folder
- open a command prompt window and enter

Code:

cd C:\path\to\the\ACC\files

but adapt the path of course, then enter

Code:

C:\Utils\GnuWin32\bin\patch -b AlbumCatalogCreator-V3.4.hta
ACC-V3.4_diff.txt

but adapt the path of the patch utility to where you've installed
it in step 2 (and you did create a backup in step 3, didn't you?)
- figure out the path of your LMS' cache folder (LMS
WebUI->Settings->Information, scroll to the bottom). If LMS is running
on the same system as ACC and the cache folder is
"C:\ProgramData\Squeezebox\Cache" you can go directly to step 8,
otherwise copy the file library.db from the LMS cache folder to some
folder on the system where ACC is installed
- open the file AlbumCatalogCreator-V3.4.hta of the ACC installation
folder in notepad (or notepad++ if you have it), search for the text
-C:\ProgramData\Squeezebox\Cache- and replace it with the path to the
folder that you just copied the library.db to and save the changes
- start ACC as usual (double-click the file
AlbumCatalogCreator-V3.4.hta) and let it generate the catalogue

That should do the trick.

Hello,

it's been a long time I haven't use ACC,

now that I'd like to update my catalog, it seems I just can't get the
cover art to be included in the mht file.

I want the option to use that archive on other computer for pdf building
process.

So far I'm testing with everything setup on the same computer :

SBS v7.5.3
ACC v3.5
music library

So generating the catalog is ok in html, but the MHT do not "include"
the cover art.
Both are displaying ok on the same computer, but when I open the MHT on
another computer, there is no covert art, they are all empty,

the MHT is only few hundred ko, so that's the problem.

I don't now what settings should I modify ?
All cover are named "folder.jpg", one file by album in each folder.
and one folder for each album.

Any help would be very appreciated !!!

Re: [slim] Announce: Album Catalog Creator v3

2012-07-09 Thread Swimmerbird123

I can only speak for Windows 7, but using shortcuts makes it fairly easy
for Squeezebox Server to scan music files located either on an external
hard drive plugged into the same computer or else on a network drive
located on an external networked computer. I don't recall whether I
have tried scanning with Squeezebox server running on computer A and the
music files on an external USB drive plugged into an external networked
computer B, but that should work too. I have never used a NAS (network
attached storage) drive.

It is important to remember that AAC works through the Squeezebox server
which has to be running at the same time AAC is run. I usually just
plug a USB hard drive into the computer now and have Squeezebox server
and AAC running on the same computer. But in the past I had AAC running
on my windows computer and I could either have it use the Squeezebox
server running on the same computer, or else the AAC on the windows
computer could also use the SQueezebox server running on an external
Linux box. In the latter case, the Squeezebox server needs to be
modified slightly to allow access to its database from an external
computer. The AAC website gave instructions on how to do that, but
since those seem to be gone, below are the notes I wrote to myself
(since I forget otherwise!):

Installation of ACC (on a Windows 7 64-bit machine):

1. First install the MySQL ODBS driver v5.1 (32-bit version):
(Download, run setup.exe).

2. ACC requires no installation: just unzip to a folder and
double-click the .hta file.

3. If Squeezebox Server is running on the same machine as ACC, no
further set up is necessary. To check though, in the ACC program, on
'Remote Server options':
-- IP address should be set to 127.0.0.1 (using local Server,
not
external server)
-- Port number should be set to '9000'
-- Drive mapped to remote Server either blank or set to ‘R:’ (my
mapped network drive on the external computer)
-- leave physical path blank
Then skip to step 5.

4. If Squeezebox Server is running on a remote machine then it has to
be configured to allow ACC to connect remotely. The change is to add a
'#' character before the 'bind-address' command in the my.tt file. My
external computer was a headless Linux box so I had to use PuTTY to SSH
into it; if you external box is windows you can just use notepad. Then:
Change directory to /usr/share/squeezeboxserver/MySQL and edit the file
'my.tt' with the 'nano' editor: insert a '#' character before the
'bind-address' command in the file and then save it and restart
squeezeboxserver.

Then, set up the AAC program: In the ACC program, on the 'Remote
Server options' page, set the IP address to the external computer's IP
address [e.g. 192.168.1.106]; set the Port number to '9002' (usually
9000 but my linux box used 9002); set mapped drive to 'R:' (my mapped
drive), set physical path to '/media/Music'. (the music library on the
linux box)

5. On the Windows machine running ACC, set Internet Explorer's
security level to allow ‘Access data sources across domains’ (IE, Tools
Menu, Internet Options, Security Tab, Internet Zone, Custom Level,
select 'enable').

6. In ACC, main page, leave Starting Folder blank, or set to
[drive]:\[subfolder]if desired.

To run ACC, the SqueezeBox Server must be running. Then simply
double-click the .hta file.

Hope that helps - it makes it look more complicated than it is

I don't use this utility very often - only a few times a year to
regenerate my album catalog. But I sure miss it when I need it and it
doesn't work!

I have donated a small amount to help motivate the release of a version
that works with SBS 7.6+ and whatever the default database is now.

Re: [slim] Announce: Album Catalog Creator v3

2011-10-07 Thread t2capa

Hello.
Hope somebody here can help me.

First of all. I’ve used an earlier version of ACC and I think it is
marvelous! It gave me a very nice catalogue of all my music.

Now I have resintalled a new PC and a new Squeezebox server and I am
not able to make ACC run.

PC is running windows XP with servicepack 3. Norwegian version. This
means I don’t have C:\Program Files, but I have C:\Programfiler
Squeezebox server installed is latest version 7,6,1 and data and server
are all installed on the same PC
Running ACC 3.4 and MySQLconnection 5.1.9, (installed from
mysql-connector-odbc-5.1.9-win32.msi)
All 32bit
Windows XP, Squeezebox server, the music collection and ACC are all
installed and running on the same PC. Nothing is remote
I have removed HKEY-CURRENT_USER\Software\ACC key from the registry,
but still no success.
I have tried to turn off Windows firewall and antivirus but no
success.

I will be very happy any feedback on this.
Regards T2capa

I get this error message 3716 and a picture is attached

There was at one time an option in SBS 7.6 settings to select either
MySQL or SQLite - SQLite was selected by default. This option was
removed some time ago but it is still possible to use MySQL by altering
something in one of the SbS config files. Can't remember where but I'm
sure someone on the forums will be able to guide you in the right
direction.

I believe there should be an option in the settings to use MySQL
instead of SQlite. You must have an available MySQL instance somewhere
to be able to do so. In that case ACC should work. If not I'll look
into it when 7.6 is released. Regarding the release, if you look in the
developer threads, it is uncertain when and if it will be released. If
may be that SBS is replaced by LMS (Logitech Media Server). A lot of
SBS code will ofcourse be incorporated but I will wait for making ACC
compatible until things are more clear.

ACC 3.4 and its predecessors are built to work with MySQL databases.
SbS 7.6 has moved on to use SQLite so current versions of ACC won't
work. I believe that 'SilverRS8' is in the process of updating ACC to
work with SQLite and SbS 7.6.

Sorry for this dumb question, but what is the right editor for the

With regular windows editor there are no separate lines, even with

I have looked at the log and at the beginning of the processing ACC
seems to be doing about 40 entries a second. However by the end of the
run it takes two or three seconds to process each entry.

ACC is progressively slowing down - I do not have the skills/knowledge
to troubleshoot this. Maybe it has to do with the NAS? Anyway with the
7.6 changes coming you've got enough to do. I'm just happy to be able
to generate the quickref ONLY.

Thanks
Jim

Thank you for your paypal drop. I do not understand your performance
issue yet. For example when I run ACC I get the following stats:
Total number of Tracks : 5952
Total number of Albums : 413
Pages (ex. Table of Contents) : 60

Translated to your album collection size it should only take a few
minutes. What part of ACC processing seems to take the longest time?

I'll come back on your album art size question sometime later (i'm at

Just ran it with the QuickRef only option. Ran just fine. Same
processing time as before - 51 minutes. But the QuickRef catalog
generation was almost instantaneous. Thanks for the OPTION add. I did

Am I missing something in the options concerning cover art to speed up
the full catalog generation? The art is all 500x500 - avg 110K files.
It is in the form of a "cover.jpg" placed in each individual album

Can you try 'ACC v3.5 Beta 1'
(http://acc.vanholt.nl/downloads/acc-v35beta1.zip) to check out the
QuickRef only option?

Server is up and running again and I'm working on the update to be able
to select whether or not to also generate the full catalog. I know I
said to deliver it this week but it may take me a few more days as I
also want to include some fixes and other new minor options.

I have downloaded all the software including the recommended Bullzip and

to actually use this printer on my Windows 7 PC. Any help greatly

The catalog looks great and took about 5 mins to generate!!

Thanks for posting. I'll fix it together with the catalog option. I can
implement that but I'll focus on making ACC compatible with SBS 7.6
first as 7.6 is SQlite based where previous versions were MySQL based.

But your browser supports the saving of webpages including the album
art which it will place is a separate folder structure. You can copy
the folder structure to a web server and it should be browseable (I did
not test it though).

The art resides in Squeezebox Server. The catalog album art just links
to a specific SBS URL. The advantage is that this also supports
embedded album art. Do you maybe use a high resolution album art? This
may slow down performance also because of the resizing that is
performed for inclusion in the catalog.

Hi SilverRS8,

I really ACC and use it regularly. Keep up the good work.

Two things:

- The QuickRef CSV generator is missing a quote (Chr(34)) before the
YEAR in the headline row. It's on line 2194 in V3.4.hta.

- It would be nice to have an option to create a web page that does not
require the server to be present/accessible. This would mean downloading
all the artwork and creating local JPGs. This would allow me to copy the
html to a web server I can access from anywhere on the Internet.

Thanks for adding the option - I thought I was missing it.

I'm a bit dull as to who does what to whom when. The NAS is pretty
well powered - Intel Pentium Dual CPU E2160 @ 1.80GHz. The load on the
PC seems to come after I get the ACC completion message. So the slow
down must be in the retrieval of the art from the NAS.

Should I be picking another art option in ACC? Where does the art
reside after the full catalog is built? PC (in the generated hmtl
file) or still on the NAS?

Both units are hard wired to a 10/100 gb router.

Thanks for your help - a little paypal on the way

I will post a minor update with an option to select which catalogs
should be created. I hope this will be on sunday as today my server
crashed and I hope the new hardware is delivered tomorrow.

Regarding the slow processing; This strongly depends of the performance
of the MySQL server. If this is on a low powered NAS it may take a
longer time as ACC creates a temporary table to process all data. After
this the catalogs are generated. This part should go fast. Next the
catalogs are opened and the webbrowser will retrieve all cover art that
is linked from the catalog. The art is retrieved from the NAS which
again may determine the performance.

Re: [slim] Announce: Album Catalog Creator v3

dasmueller FYI

It took 51 minutes for the ACC 3.4 to complete (NOT including
generating the FULL Catalog). I'm using Windows XP - Pentium 4 2.8ghz
- 1GB ram.
The PC is wired to a router which is wired to a NAS that runs
SqueezeServer and holds all the files.

Total Tracks: 36,496
Total Albums: 2,634
Total Artists: 1,119

All tracks are FLAC. Not sure of all this but I think my big problem
is when ACC finishes and then tries to generate the Full Catalog. At
this point my PC just grinds and grinds - I assume trying to get all
the cover art into the Full Catalog as the Quick Ref is already done
and displayed in another browser window. That's a lot of artI'm
not listing any tracks and not choosing large art option.

Sorry I cannot help w your problem, but have some questions.
Were you successful in running the full catalog, and if so how long did
it take ?
You say the full catalog brought your PC to its knees, what OS are you
running and how much RAM ?
How large is your library and what file type ?
I am close to finishing the process of ripping, tagging etc and would
like to run a printout of sorts.
Thanks in advance for your response.

Or rather, there may be support within 7.6 for MySQL, but not officially
maintained by Logitech. The settings file can be modified to make it use MySQL,
but there's no Advanced setting any more to switch DB engine.

SBS 7.6 has a new database schema which requires ACC to be updated to
become compatible.

SBS 7.6 will also by default use the new SQlite database. SQlite is not
made with multi-user & remote access in mind. For ACC to support it a
number of possibilities need to be evaluated (like using a non-official
ODBC driver or working with a local copy of the database file, ...)

However SBS 7.6 also provides an option to use the MySQL database. It
will be easy to modify ACC to support this scenario and hence this
support will be the first available after 7.6 release.

The instructions tell to install SQL ODBC drivers.. but where? On the

that doesn't help.

Then it tells to edit a file called my.tt supposedly stored in a
directory on the NAS named /usr/share/squeezeboxserver/MySQL
However, there exists no such directory on my NAS...!

Finally, nowhere does it say if all this is specific for a
Squeezeserver using its own internal MySQL, or what if I'm using an
external MySQL installation?

I'm using the MySQL server that came with my NAS. Then where do I find
this my.tt file?

Re: [slim] Announce: Album Catalog Creator v3

2010-11-26 Thread maximus

Thank you very much for your answers. I have played around with the
parameters and found that I get the most information on the least
amount of space with 118 tracks per page, max. 5 album rows per page
and then reducing to 80% when printing and cutting the border to almost
zero. I use the album catalog on my cell phone while I'm in CD shops for
example, that's why I need to cramp as much information into as little
space as possible.

The one main thing I really just don't understand though is why
creating 'pages' when creating the HTML files really doesn't seem to
correspond in any way to what actually happens when you print. (I
understand that I probably just don't understand the technical
background enough.) But in practice I'm assuming that this leads to
most people (using the default settings) creating very ugly catalogs in
PDF which usually look like this: One normal page, then one half filled
page, then again one normal page, etc. etc.

Re: [slim] Announce: Album Catalog Creator v3

2010-09-19 Thread Swimmerbird123

I've appended a screen shot of the tagging for the Robert Levin CD that
I showed earlier. It looks correct to me. So I still suspect it is
something in ACC.

When I do a fresh SBS scan of my library, I get an album count of 2553.
When I then run ACC, I get an album count of 2566, with a track count
that matches SBS. So ACC sees 13 more albums than SBS does. By
comparing the ACC Quick Reference with the SBS Music Folder display, I
have identified exactly 13 situations where I have non-consecutive
tracks from the same CD in the same folder, and ACC displays the
non-consecutive tracks as separate albums. So this would account for
the discrepancy in statistics.

Using the "Use folder structure to determine albums" does not affect
this non-consecutive track issue, but it does correctly handle the
situation where a folder contains tracks from 2 CDs is displayed. (That
happens when a long piece is split over two CDs and I re-combine the two
parts as a single folder):

When I set the "Use folder structure" option in ACC and ran it again,
now I get an album count of 2550, so 16 less than without that option.
All 13 of the 'non-consecutive tracks' folders are still displayed
incorrectly as multiple albums, so the new lower album count is not due
to that being corrected. However, comparing the two Quick Reference
printouts, I can identify exactly 16 situations where I had tracks from
two separate CDs in the same folder. These 16 two-CD folders are
displayed as two albums in the 'regular' ACC (because the tracks are
tagged as coming from two CDs) but with the "use folder structure"
option, they are correctly shown as one album. So that option generally
works right but still has the non-consecutive track problem.

This is not a big problem for me, so don't waste a lot of time on it.
I'm sure you have more important tasks to tackle. I just thought that
it may be a simple coding thing where you break out a new album when
the track number sequence is interrupted. If you can fix it, great, and
if not, ACC is still a great program.

Thanks,
Swimmer

ACC determines when to start a new album based on:
1. If the track resides in a different folder (this requires you to
select the 'Use folder structure...' option in ACC)
2. If the album ID is different.

I haven't tested it myself as it is not a common practice to split up
an album over different folders but it appears that SBS assigns a
different album ID for tracks in a different folder or the problem is
tagging related.

Can you post a screenshot of the tagging of one album? Is there a
difference in a particular tagging field that can be related to this
problem?

Thanks 's for replying Frank. I'll keep a watch on your website for an
SQLite version. Keep up the good work - ACC is invaluable and
appreciated by a lot of users.

Re: [slim] Announce: Album Catalog Creator v3

2010-09-18 Thread Swimmerbird123

Yes, i've tried the "use folder structure" option and it doesn't seem to
make any difference.

I've attached some screen shots to illustrate:

The first (exampl5: Ligeti Vol. 6) shows the first situation I
mentioned. This CD is stored with Tracks 1-9 in one folder, Tracks 10
and 12 in a second folder, Track 11 in a third folder all by itself,
and Tracks 13,14,15 in a fourth fodler. ACC incorrectly displays Tracks
10 and 12 here as two albums, even though they are stored in the same
folder. The other folders are shown correctly.

The second (exampl1: Robert Levin plays Mozart) shows the second
situation I mentioned. On the CD, Tracks 1-3 are one piece, Tracks 4-6
are a second piece, and Track 7 is an alternate version of the movement
in Track 2. I have stored this CD as two folders, with Tracks 1,2,3,7
in one folder and Tracks 4,5,6 in the other. Yet ACC breaks out Track
7 as a separate album, even though it is stored in the same folder with
1,2,3.

The third (exampl4: disc 2 of a collection by Richter) shows a final
situation. The CD contains pieces by various composers, and I have
created a separate folder for each composer's tracks. I've grouped the
three Chopin tracks 10, 15, 16 in one folder, but ACC shows them as two
albums.

Does this help?

Hi Swimmer,

I think I get the picture. As your situation would more be folder based
than Album based, did you try the 'Use folder structure to distinguish
albums' setting in the advanced settings screen in ACC?

If this does not help, please post a screenshot as a picture tells more
than 1000 words.

Regards,

Frank

Hi Bob,

Nope. ACC doesn't support v7.6 yet as SQLite requires a totally
different approach as it natively does not support remote access at
all. There is an ODBC driver out there and I expect to start
experimenting with it this week.

First of all sorry for my late reaction but it appears the e-mail
notification on this thread does not process all new entries.

I've put it on my todo list for the next version.

Re: [slim] Announce: Album Catalog Creator v3

2010-09-17 Thread Swimmerbird123

I have a problem with the way ACC displays a folder with non-consecutive
tracks in it. Let me explain:

My library is mostly classical music and I have arranged it generally
by piece rather than CD. So each piece of music, which typically has
multiple movements that are each a separate track in its separate file,
is in its own folder. Each track is still tagged with the CD name as
its album name and the tracks retain the original track numbering from
the CD, but otherwise, the CD structure is more or less ignored.

For example, a CD may contain 3 different sonatas each of which has 4
movements, but I store each sonata in its own folder, so that a folder
named "Sunshine Sonata" may contain only tracks 5,6,7 and 8 from the
original CD, and all are tagged with the CD name as the album name.

Usually ACC handles this in an appropriate way - it sees each folder as
a separate album and displays the CD name (from the album tag) as the
album name. In the example above, that yields three albums in the
catalog with the same name, but with each containing a different
sonata. That is OK for me.

My problem is that if the folder contains tracks that are numbered
non-consecutively, ACC splits the folder into multiple folders
according to the track numbers. So a single folder that contains only
tracks 10 and 12 from a CD is displayed by ACC as two albums, each with
one track, while SBS displays this correctly as one album with two
tracks. Or a folder with three consecutively numbered track and a 4th
non-consecutive track (e.g. an alternate ending for the piece) is
displayed by ACC as two albums, one with the three consecutive tracks
and one with the non-consecutive 4th, even though SBS includes all four
tracks as one album.

Is it possible for ACC to handle these situations differently, or would
I need to go in and re-tag the track numbers to get the desired tracks
treated as one album?

Thanks for a great program,
Swimmer
