Re: [slim] Does MusicIP still exist in latest 7.5 nightlies?

2009-12-02 Thread ModelCitizen

Cheers chaps. The Analyze filter only found three tracks and when I try
to write the tags I receive an error saying the file cannbot be written
to disk (??!!). My problem was the opposite. The MIP tags are definitely
in the files but the MIP gui does not show the PUID, the field is
blank.

I only have one artist tag per file. I too use seperators (;) to list
multiple artists in a single artist tag.

Re: [slim] Does MusicIP still exist in latest 7.5 nightlies?

2009-12-01 Thread bobkoure

Interesting. Glad I used single tags with separators, then.

MC - do you have multiple artist tags? Not multiple artists in the same
tag (that's what I do and I have never had an issue) but multiple tags.
If you've got FLAC tracks, you can use metaflac to look at the tags. If
you see more than one line starting with artist, you have multiple
tags. (try -metaflac --list trackname.flac somename.txt- then open that
text file with an editor. Look for lines beginning with comment[).

PM - thanks for pointing out what the musicIP tag corruption issue
was. I'd read that there had been an issue with MP3s in a previous
version and was pretty paranoid about checking tags after archiving.
Never had an issue, but it's nice to know what the issue was.

Re: [slim] Does MusicIP still exist in latest 7.5 nightlies?

2009-11-27 Thread ModelCitizen

Thanks Wirrunna and bobertuk,
I am reluctant to make many changes to MusicIP without guidance. The
last thing I want to do is to have to rescan my music collection. This
took well over a month the first time I did it.

In the end I cured the problem, albeit temporarily, by selecting all my
music files and removing them from the library, saving the library cache
and then adding the files back. A SBS clear and rescan then saw all my
MusicIP icons exactly where they should have been and MusicIP working
correctly.

Then I made the mistake of rebooting my computer. Now MusicIP has
disappeared entirely from SBS. I don't even have the erroneous M icons
on playlists. :-(

BTW. It seems that my default.m3lib resides in my Windows MIP program
directory and not Docs and Settings. I'm not too sure why.

And the MIP gui now lists a reasonable number of files without MIP
tags. However, when I look at the files in a tag editing program it can
be seen that the MIP tags do exist. :-(

2009-11-27 Thread bobertuk

If MIP is set in preferences to 'Archive analysis...' and the music file
tags really do contain the fingerprint, rebuilding the database from
scratch should be quick. There is no need to re-analyse the files - MIP
will just take the data direct from the tags. Worth experimenting with a
few files perhaps?

I have found occasionally that MIP doesn't write the analysis to the
tag though and have to redo those files. I usually do this by deleting
the individual files from MIP then re-adding them - that seems to work.
Oddly when it happens, it's always with track 6!

2009-11-27 Thread Wirrunna

mc and bobertuk, you can list tracks that don't have their analysis
archived by creating a new filter - in the MIP gui, right click in the
Filters/Playlist column, select New Filter, then in the box select
'Stored Analysis' from the first drop down list, select 'is missing'
from the second drop down list, click Add Condition, select 'Status'
then 'is' and enter Analyzed and click OK. This will list tracks that
are analyzed but not archived.
You can archive the analysis by selecting the tracks then right click
and select 'Archive Analysis (modifies files)'.

mc, the location of default.m3lib moved at some stage to enable
multiple libraries, i.e. each user could have their own default.m3lib

I wouldn't recommend Archive Analysis (or writing anything to tags from MIP) -
it can cause some tag data to be lost. eg. if you store multiple artist tags,
MIP will only read the first one, then when it writes the archive analysis
tags, it stores all data that it read, but as it didn't read the extra artists,
it doesn't write them back.

Michael, I only ever use the MIP gui.

Since last post I have:

Selected all tracks in MIP gui
Run Library/Refresh. The refresh was instant (suspicious).
I rebooted my PC then ran a Wipe and Scan.
The resuly is exactly the same. SBS still looks for the MIP information
at the old location of my library files.

It's not going to cure the bug but I am thinking that the only way for
me to get MIP working again would be to move my library back to it's old

Re: [slim] Does MusicIP still exist in latest 7.5 nightlies?

2009-11-26 Thread bobertuk

Sorry if this has already been suggested...

If I remember correctly, the MIP database stores file paths, so it may
still be pointing to your old file locations.

You could try selecting all music files in the MIP UI, delete them
(from library only), then Add songs' pointing to the new folder location
to rebuild the database.

You could also try searching for the MIP database, delete it, then 'Add
songs' pointing to the new folder location to rebuild it - the file is
'default.m3lib' but it may be hidden. The rebuild should be fairly quick
if the music file tags are fingerprinted.

This has made it clear though. Whilst the scanner is correctly checking
for music files in F:\MyMusic, it's checking for MIP tags in F:\My Music

A week or two ago I renamed my music directory from My Music to

Did you ever run the refresh from the MIP web interface? Or restart the MIP

Albums are not mixable. Only playlists have an M next to them (and in
the web gui at least, when I click on the M SBS says empty.) I am on

The scanner log is over 1mb zipped (10mb plain), so I can't upload it

Sorry - I meant another rescan. I have sometimes found MuscIP to claim
to complete a scan but not to show the mixable status icon. That was
most noticeable when I added new music to the library. A second rescan
