Re: [slim] SqueezeFox - Slimserver extension for Firefox

2008-05-06 Thread Pokersut

Great extension - very handy when you have music playing and the remote
out of range. I have come across a weird and somewhat annoying bug,
though:

When I have this extension installed, I get a very long delay when
opening popup windows - sometimes it takes 15 seconds from the time I
click the link until the popup window opens!

I have tried disabling the extension and then the delay is gone, so it
must somehow be responsible for the behaviour.

Try this page: http://www.themusic.com/detail.cfm?id=9002299

Click on the small cd cover and see if you can reproduce it. For me it
takes about 10 seconds for the popup to show, and when it does, it is
not the correct size.

Re: [slim] SqueezeFox - Slimserver extension for Firefox

2007-10-13 Thread bephillips

With the update to 0.8.1, it is back to taking a long time to update the
track title every time, and at the moment that it is updating, Firefox
freezes (OS X spinning beachball) for several seconds. Skipping tracks
with Squeezefox 0.8.1 is now sluggish and gives the beachball freeze
for a few seconds now too.

Still no album artwork, but I think you said that is not expected to
work in the Mac version.

Can I get a link to v0.8 to use until this is fixed?

The link for v0.8 above still worked, so I successfully downgraded. I'll
put up with the superfluous mute button for smooth functionality.

Incidentally, I think 0.8.1 was also occasionally breaking playback of
tracks: In the middle of a track there would be a crackling artifact or
two then playback would stop. FF, RW, or Stop then Play would get things
going again. Never noticed that behavior before 0.8.1, and it hasn't
happened since downgrading to 0.8.

Hope this is helpful to you.

yeah, this is a bit of a known issue. SqueezeFox depends on your server

- Rewrote the entire httprequest handler to use a JS parser library,
now seems less buggy
- enabled artwork notifications
- MULTIPLE SQUEEZEBOX SUPPORT, allows you to decide which play you want
to control (bit buggy, but seems to work)

please install from the above url, as firefox add-ons is being a pain

Thanks! Squeezefox in the status bar is updating within a few seconds
when playing now.

Still takes about two minutes to update when skipping tracks either
with the remote or the browser UI.

I'm also not seeing any artwork on track changes, though I have this
setting checked. Not sure what it's supposed to look like. Could you
post a screen shot? Maybe I'm missing something. Let me know if I can
help you in any way with troubleshooting this.

Seems that the mute button also does nothing if one is using an
external amp for volume control, and so should also be hidden when the
volume slider is hidden, yes?

Thanks again for all your work.

this is because the update rate is calculated by the current song as

I have managed to implement the stop button, and I'm working on the

the next release should also have the artwork pop-up re-enabled. i'd
been having some troubles with it displaying at a consistent size, but
think i may have nailed it now. just need a windows machine to test it

Supporting multiple players seems to be a bit of a pain in the ass, but

Re: [slim] SqueezeFox - Slimserver extension for Firefox

2007-07-08 Thread Brian Ritchie

When I have Squeezefox enabled, I notice some odd behaviour with some
popups (for example, with the reveal image or larger image links on
some BBC News pages, such as on
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/sci/tech/default.stm).

The popup's contents aren't formatted correctly in its window, and are
duplicated in the main window. Also, a small grey window is created on
the top left of my display; it does nothing, sits on top of everything
else, can't be moved, and won't go away even when I close the original
popup or even exit firefox entirely. (So far, I've only managed to get
rid of it by killing off the remaining firefox.exe process from Task
Manager).

The behaviour disappears when I disable Squeezefox and restart Firefox.
Of course, it could be misinteraction with one of my other add-ons, but
I don't feel like turning them all off to confirm this.

I'm having the same problem mentioned above. I was using 0.7 and the
current track was usually correct. I tried .7.3 and .7.2 and both just
show the current track as Fetching server data

Re: [slim] SqueezeFox - Slimserver extension for Firefox

I can't get this to work... it just says 'Fetching server data' in the
status bar. I've tried changing the port from 9000 (default) to 9090 (I
presume for the CLI). No dice. I've tried inside my firewall and out
(with appropriate rules for out). Still no go.

great idea and thank you for your effort.

Thanks for this, seems to be working great except that sometimes the
track title will update promptly by itself, and sometimes it won't
update unless I click on it.

Here's a feature request: Click and hold or right click on song title
shows popup of some part of the current playlist, maybe past 5 and
coming 10 tracks, and then these could be selected to play that track.

Rock on!

Re: [slim] SqueezeFox - Slimserver extension for Firefox

2007-04-25 Thread erland

Works great in 2.0.0.3 on Linux for me.

Great work!

Some feature wishes follows:

Maybe it would be a good idea to make it possible to also open the
songinfo page for the currently playing song besides open up SlimServer
it self ?

The volume slider is completely useless to me since I use the volume
control on the reciever to change the volume. Would it be possible to
add an option to hide the volume slider since it uses unneccesary
screen space now ?

It would also be great if it could display the currently playing song
somewhere, if this is possible. It probably takes up to much screen
space to show it always, but maybe it could be shown a few seconds
after a new track starts to play ?

And now when I am wishing, it would be great if it was possible to
change the rating for the currently playing song. There is a CLI
interface in the TrackStat plugin that makes this possible. TrackStat
needs to be installed though.

Is it possible to show other things than text in the tooltips ? If it
is, it would be great to also show the albumart in the tooltip of the
currently playing song.

like it to be displayed without having to move the mouse.

Basically I am looking for a replacement for the toast feature in Moose
which runs on Linux, even though this Firefox extension isn't the
perfect solution it is a good start since Firefox is open most of the
time.

Cool toy, but I must be missing something. If firefox is open, then
you're (at most) one click from the full web interface, where you can
not only perform the two or three tasks offered by this addon, but many
more.

Hi everyone, first post and all that...

I've made an extension that lets you control your slimserver from
inside firefox. It's inspired by a similar extension by matt welsh, but
 with some additional features

Define an server url/port for non localhost servers
Tooltip shows the currently playing track
 Added Next/Previous track buttons
Slider updates to show the current volume level (and displays it on a
 tooltip)

and a few others, mostly more effecient javascript functions and the
 like

take a look, let me know what you think

 http://graphicmedicine.com/squeezefox/SqueezeFox-0.5.xpi

Looks great, but I think I gave my GF a scare when I inadvertently
started up my Study-SB (while I'm in the living room).

How does this work in multi-SB installations?

Peter

only thing I need is:
1. See what track is playing, I can basically just glance over the
computer screen and look at the SqueezeBox to do this, but it would be
nice to see it somewhere directly on the computer screen without
needing to move the mouse.

2. See the rating and maybe more information such as album art of the
track that is playing. If I click on the on the player icon in the
Firefox extension a new webpage will be opened and my reading on the
original web site I was looking at is interrupted and the original page
is moved in the background.

3. Change the rating of the currently playing song. This either
requires me to open the slimserver web interface and click a few times
to get into the TrackStat page, or reach for the remote control and
rate the track. If I could do this without changing page in the web
browser it would be great.
